WENT TO RUN SOME ERRANDS AND WHEN I GOT BACK IN MY VEHICLE"PASSENGER REAR DOOR" ALARM KEPT BEEPING. DOOR DOES NOT STAY CLOSED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR OPENED WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH AND WOULD NOT SHUT. THE PASSENGER DOOR WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WRAPPED THE SEAT BELT AROUND THE DOOR TO KEEP IT SHUT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,697.
HAVING ISSUES WITH CAR BEING REPAIRED. DOOR HANDLE LATCH IS BROKEN AND I AM CURRENTLY USING WIRE TO ASSURE IT STAYS CLOSED. EXPERIENCING THIS FOR 5+ MONTHS NOW. SERVICE STATION WOULD NOT FIX FOR FREE AT FIRST BECAUSE AN "OFFICIAL" RECALL WAS NOT ISSUES, EVEN THOUGH THIS WAS AN EXTREMELY COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS CARS YEAR, ONE THAT I WAS UNAWARE OF. ONCE I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE THEY CANCELED MY INITIAL APPOINTMENT DUE TO BACKUP. THEY RESCHEDULED MY APPOINTMENT FOR JULY OF THIS YEAR. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SCENARIO AND THE MANUFACTURER IS UNWILLING TO EXPEDITE MY SERVICES. IS THERE ANY COURSE OF ACTION TO TAKE?
I RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF A RECALL ON DOOR LATCHES THAT NEED TO BE REPLACED. IT ALSO STATED THAT A REIMBURSMENT FOR A REPLACEMENT IS ALSO INCLUDED AND WILL TAKE 60 DAYS TO PROCESS. ONCE I RECEIVED MY LETTER I SENT IN THE PAPERWORK FOR REIMBURSMENT OF A LEFT REAR DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLY ALONG WITH THE ORIGINAL RECEIPT. I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE MY CHECK FOR THE WORK DONE. MY LAST REPORT WAS ON THE AFFECTS OF THE TCM FAILURE AND THE COMPUTER FAILURES OF THE ENGINE, WIPERS AND NOT BEING ABLE TO START THE CAR. AS I CONTINUED TO OBSERVE THE CONTINUED ISSUES OF THE FORD FOCUS, I NOW HAVE A PROBLEMS WITH THE DOORS. THE DOORS ARE NOT UNLOCKING. SOME WILL UNLOCK AND SOME WILL REMAIN LOCK. AT THIS POINT WITH THE MILEAGE AT 73400 THE PROBLEMS WITH THE FORD FOCUS IS NOT GOING AWAY. I STILL OWE MONEY ON THE VEHICLE AND I CAN'T DRIVE IT ANY MORE BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY ISSUES IT HAS. 1. FORD RECALL#16S30 - ITS A SAFETY RECALL ON MY CAR FOR DOOR LATCH REPLACEMENT. ITS BEEN A FEW MONTHS THE RECALL WAS ISSUED BUT UPON CHECKING WITH FORD, I AM HEARING THAT THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE AND IT WON'T BE AVAILABLE TILL MID OF YEAR 2017. SINCE ITS A SERIOUS MANUFACTURER SAFETY RECALL SO I AM EXCESSIVELY CONCERNED FOR MY AND MY FAMILY'S SAFETY HERE. FRONT DRIVER SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT LATCH PROPERLY, ALLOWING THE DOOR TO SWING OPEN WHILE DRIVING. I NOTICED THIS DRIVING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT AT WORK. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND COULD HAVE CAUSED DAMAGE TO MY VEHICLE AND OTHERS ON THE ROAD. MY FAMILY AND I WERE PREPARING TO DRIVE FROM OUR HOME WHEN MY DAUGHTER TOLD ME THE REAR DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE. AFTER RESEARCHING ON THE INTERNET, I FIND THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH SOME MODELS OF FORD CARS. I TOOK MY CAR TO A FORD DEALERSHIP BUT HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT ALTHOUGH IT IS IN FACT THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART DESCRIBED IN A RECALL, MY VEHICLES'S VIN NUMBER IS NOT INCLUDED AS A RECALL. MY DOOR WILL NOT STAY CLOSED AND I CAN'T RISK TRANSPORTING MY CHILDREN AS A RESULT. FORD SAYS IT WILL COST ME FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS TO REPAIR THE PART THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN DEEMED UNSAFE AND IS BEING FIXED AT NO CHARGE IN OTHER VEHICLES BECAUSE THEY HAVE DIFFERENT VIN NUMBERS.
MY FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LATCH IS DEFECTIVE. I WAS GETTING INTO THE CAR ON 4/23/16, CLOSED THE DOOR AND IT BOUNCED BACK OPEN. THE LATCH WOULD NOT LATCH UNTIL I SPENT APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES PULLING THE DOOR BACK OPEN AND CLOSING IT AGAIN. TWICE NOW (ONCE WHILE STATIONARY AND ONCE WHILE DRIVING) MY DOOR HAS POPPED OPEN. THE FIRST TIME THE WAS STATIONARY, THE BACK DOOR WAS CLOSED AND POPPED MY FRONT DOOR OPEN. THE SECOND TIME I WAS DRIVING AROUND A CORNER WHILE LEAVING WORK AND MY DOOR JUST POPPED OPEN. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH FORD AND THEY HAVE SAID THAT THERE ARE MANY FORD FOCUS' WITH MY SAME ISSUE, BUT THAT THEY HAVEN'T ISSUED A RECALL. I AM NOW HAVING TO PAY $59.00 TO HAVE THEM INSPECT MY DOOR. IF MY EXTENDED WARRANTY APPROVED IT I WILL HAVE TO PAY EITHER A $50 OR $100 DEDUCTIBLE TO GET IT FIXED. IF THEY DO NOT APPROVE IT, IF I WANTED IT FIXED I WILL HAVE TO PAY AROUND $750 TO GET IT REPLACED.
THE DOOR LOCK LATCH/ACTUATOR BROKE NOT ALLOWING THE DOOR TO SHUT AND LATCH. THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM MANY MODELS OF FORD VEHICLES HAVE HAD AND BEEN RECALLED. BUT THE RECALLED MODELS DON'T COVER ALL MODELS AFFECTED WITH THIS DEFECTIVE LATCH. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY FORTUNATELY.
REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR NOT LATCHING. OPENED IT TO GET PERSONAL STUFF OUT AND WENT TO CLOSE IT AND THE DOOR JUST BOUNCED BACK. LOOKED AT THE LATCH AND IT DOESN'T STAY UP.
I WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT. I GOT OUT TO LOOK FOR SOMETHING IN THE BACK SEAT. I FOUND WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR, CLOSED THE DRIVER'S SIDE PASSENGER DOOR AND GOT BACK IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT. AS I WAS BACKING OUT TO LEAVE, THE BACK DOOR THAT I HAD OPENED FLEW OPEN AND THE WARNING LIGHT THAT A DOOR WAS AJAR CAME ON. I COULD NOT GET THE DOOR TO STAY CLOSED. I HAD TO TIE IT TO SOMETHING IN THE BACK SEAT WITH PLASTIC BAGS WHICH WAS THE ONLY THING I HAD. I TOOK IT TO MY DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE DOOR LATCH WAS ON "BACK ORDER" AND IT WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL SEPTEMBER 2016 AND WOULD COST ME $400 TO FIX BECAUSE THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN ISSUED A RECALL....YET. SO I HAVE TO FIGURE A WAY TO KEEP THE DOOR CLOSED, NOT SECURED, UNTIL THEY CAN GET THE PART IN.
DRIVER REAR DOOR LATCH BROKEN WHILE DRIVING. LEAVING A PARKING GARAGE THE REAR DOOR SUDDENLY SWINGS OPEN NEARLY HITTING A PASSING CAR. AFTER PULLING OVER TO CLOSE THE DOOR IT IS APPARENT THE DOOR LATCH IS BROKEN AND WILL NOT LATCH AT ALL. I HAVE A SHORT VIDEO SHOWING THE FAILURE OF THE DOOR TO LATCH IF NEEDED.
WHILE PULLING BACK FROM A PARKING LOT, THE REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR SIGNAL SHOWED UP, AND THE DOOR OPENED. FROM THAT MOMENT, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO CLOSE CORRECTLY THE DOOR AS THE LATCH DOESN'T CLOSE CORRECTLY. I GUESS IT IS RELATED TO INVESTIGATION PE16001.
FROND DRIVER SIDE DOOR REFUSES TO STAY SHUT DUE TO THE DOOR LATCH NOT OPERATING PROPERLY.. I.E., THE DOOR DOES NOT REMAIN LATCH/LOCKED. PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE WITH THE LATCH. SOME HOW THE LATCH HAS CORRECTED ITSELF IN THE PAST. PROBLEM HAS NOW RETURN.
THE DOOR WILL NOT LATCH CLOSED. THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR IMMEDIATELY SWUNG OPEN WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. I WAS UNABLE TO EVER CLOSE IT AGAIN AFTER THAT. IT JUST LEANS IN PLACE, BUT IT NEVER LATCHES.
I HAVE NOW AN ISSUE WITH MY PASSENGER DOOR THAT WILL NOT CLOSE. I OPENED MY DOOR AND WENT TO CLOSE IT AND IT POPPED BACK OPEN. WOULD NOT LATCH TO CLOSE. AS A RESULT I HAD TO TIE THE DOOR CLOSED. MY CAR WAS IN A PARKED POSITION AND I WAS PLACING ITEMS ON THE BACK SEAT. I WAS ABLEBTO OPEN THE DOOR BUT AS I ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE THE DOOR WOULD NOT ENGAGE OR LATCH JUST POPPED OPEN.
FAILED DOOR LATCH ON DRIVERS DOOR. WAS PULLING OUT AND CHIME SOUNDED INDICATING DOOR WAS AJAR. TRIED TO CLOSE BUT LATCH WAS NOT ENGAGING. HAD TO DRIVE HOME WHILE HOLDING THE DOOR TO PREVENT IT FROM FLYING OPEN IN TRAFFIC. THIS IS MY 2ND LATCH INCIDENT IN FIVE MONTHS. I HAD THE PASSENGER DOOR REPAIRED FOR THE SAME ISSUE. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TWICE ON A CAR WITH LESS THAN 35,000 MILES (OR ANY MILEAGE). FORD NEEDS TO ADDRESS THIS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND ISSUE A RECALL.
MY WIFE'S 2012 FORD FOCUS SEL DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR WON'T CLOSE. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON A BLVD. GOING STRAIGHT AND THE CAR COMPUTER STARTED TO DING DING DING... THE MESSAGE STATED THE DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR WAS OPEN, NOW THE DOOR WON'T STAY CLOSED. WE KEEP THE REAR DOOR CLOSED WITH BUNGEE CORDS NOW. LUCKILY SHE DIDN'T DIDN'T HAVE A REAR SEAT PASSENGER AT THE TIME. THERE SEEMS TO BE A DISCONNECT BETWEEN THE BRAIN AND THE BODY WHEN TALKING ABOUT FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE, FORD RECALL HQ., AND MY LOCAL FORD DEALER. IT ALL SOUNDS GOOD ON THE PHONE BUT THE RUBBER AIN'T MEETING THE ROAD ON ANYTHING ACTUALLY GETTING DONE. ANYTHING.
DOOR LATCHES BAD ON CAR HAVE HAD TWO OCCACIONS WHERE THEY GO FAULTY, FIRST TIME WAS A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO BOTH THE DRIVERS DOOR LATCH WENT BAD, THE CAR WAS NOT IN MOTION WHEN I FOUND OUT, AND I WAS UNDER THE WARRANTY TO FIX THE PROBLEM SO I NEVER COMPLAINED. THE SECOND TIME I WAS DRIVING WITH MY DOG IN THE BACK SEAT AND THE DOOR SWINGS OPEN, I WAS VERY SHOCKED FROM THE SITUATION BECAUSE MY DOG NEARLY FEEL OUT, MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS IT WAS MY FAULT I DID NOT CLOSE THE DOOR, BUT WHEN I WENT TO SHUT THE DOOR IN THE BACK THE LATCH WOULD NOT CLOSE, I KNEW AT THIS POINT WHAT WAS GOING ON BECAUSE OF MY FIRST EXPERIENCE. THIS TIME I WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND HAD TO PAY OVER 500 DOLLARS TO FIX. THAT WAS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENS TO ME AND IVE HEARD OTHER PEOPLE THAT OWN FORD FOCUS CARS THAT THEY HAVE EXPERIENCED SIMILAR PROBLEMS. ON BOTH DRIVERS DOOR. SEEMS LIKE FRAUD IF YOU ASK ME
DRIVER'S SIDE BACK DOOR OPENED WHILE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN. SPRING FORCING LATCH TO SECURE IS EVIDENTLY BROKEN. VEHICLE WAS GOING STRAIGHT AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH.
DRIVER'S DOOR LATCH FAILED AND DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE. CAR WAS PARKED AND I HAD IT LOCKED IT WITH THE REMOTE CONTROL. HAD IT REPAIRED BY MY MECHANIC. CONCERNED OTHER DOORS WILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM.
AS OF AUGUST 7, 2016 THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR LATCH FAILS TO LATCH IN THE CLOSED POSITION. MALFUNCTION WAS DISCOVERED WHEN I RETURNED TO THE PARKED VEHICLE AT THE GROCERY STORE. PRIOR TO THIS THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THE LATCH FUNCTION WAS FAILING. OBVIOUSLY THIS MALFUNCTION IS A SERIOUS SAFETY AND THEFT CONCERN.
DOOR LATCH FAILURE DURING DRIVING. I WAS DRIVING THE CAR, TOOK A RIGHT TURN AND OUT OF NOWHERE THE DRIVER'S DOOR CAME UNLATCHED AND OPENED. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR HOME BY HOLDING THE DOOR SHUT AND DRIVING BASICALLY WITH 1 HAND. AFTER ARRIVING AT HOME, IT BECAME EVIDENT THROUGH MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO CLOSE AND LATCH THE DOOR THAT THE LATCH WAS MALFUNCTIONING. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT ONLY DANGEROUS, IT IS ALSO LEAVES MY CAR MORE VULNERABLE FOR THIEF. THOUGH RESEARCH OF RECALLS I AM AWARE THIS IS CURRENTLY UNDER INVESTIGATION. WE WERE IN MOTION ON A 4 LANE ROAD IN A RURAL AREA AND TURNING. THIS HAPPENED ON JULY 8TH, 2016
THE PASSENGER REAR DRIVERSIDE DOOR WON'T CLOSE. THERE WAS NO EVENT THAT HAPPENED TO CAUSE THIS ISSUE, IT JUST STOPPED FUNCTIONING ALL ON IT'S OWN AND JUST LIKE MY 1ST REPORT ON THIS SAME VEHICLE LAST MONTH REGARDING THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR DOING THE EXACT SAME THING AND FORD MOTOR COMPANY KNEW THIS PROBLEM EXISTED 2-3 YEARS AGO AND CUNSUMERS WERE NEVER NOTIFIED OF THIS POTENTIAL DANGER OF THE DOORS COMING OPEN W/O WARNING AND MALFUNCTIONING. DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO GET SERIOUSLY HURT, OR WORST, DIE B4 FORD IS FORCED TO RECALL THESE EFFECTED VEHICLES FOR REPAIR? AS A CONSUMER, I WANT TO KNOW WHY FORD ISN'T FORCED TO TAKE CARE OF THIS PROBLEM? AS OF NOW I HAVE 2 DOORS THAT WON'T CLOSE SO THEY CAN'T BE LOCKED AND I HAVE NO GARAGE TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN, SO IT'S VERY VOLNERABLE TO THEFT IF IT'S NOTICED THESE DOORS ARE NOT CLOSED AND IF IT RAINS, THE VEHICLE WILL RECIEVE WATER DAMAGE ON TH ENTERIOR. SO, HOW LONG NOW B4 ANOTHER DOOR STOPS WORKING IN THIS SAME MANNER. I WAS PREPARING THE VEHICLE 07/09/16 FOR TAKING IT ON 07/11/16 TO ANOTHER REPAIR FACILITY THAN FORD TO GET AN ESTIMATE ON FIXING THE 1ST DOOR REPORTED ON LAST MONTH TO YOU, IN HOPES TAT IT WOULD BE A LOT CHEAPER THAN $600, BUT NOW THAT 2 DOORS ARE FAULTY, IT'S NO WAY I CAN AFFORD DOING THAT AND AS I THOUGHT ABOUT IT, THIS WAS FORD WAS HOPING PEOPLE WOULD DO PROBABLY, I'M NOT IN THEIR HEADS OR MEETINGS. THIS IS THEIR DESIGN ISSUE (FLAW), THEY NEED TO FIX THIS, OR TAKE THIS VEHICLE BACK AND RETURN ALL OUR MONEY INVESTED IN THIS VEHICLE INCLUDING DOWN PAYMENT AND MONTHLY PAYMENTS, WHICH ARE ALL ON TIME SINCE DAY 1.
