THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON ONE OCCASION WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE UPHILL, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JACK SCHMITT FORD (1820 VANDALIA ST, COLLINSVILLE, IL 62234) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED THE FAILURE TO 19V515000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. WE HAD A LITTLE OVER A QUARTER TANK OF FUEL. WE GOING SHOPPING SO WE TOPPED OFF THE FUEL TANK THIS MORNING. AFTER WE DROVE APPROXIMATELY 80 MILES, IT STARTED SNOWING HEAVILY. I NOTICED SOMETHING WITH THE CAR. I HAD NO ACCELERATION LIKE THE ENGINE DIED. REGAINED POWER FOR A FEW MINUTES UNTIL THE ENGINE DIED. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO PARK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. TRIED RESTARTING THE ENGINE SEVERAL TIMES. AFTER A HALF HOUR, I TRIED AGAIN ONLY FOR THE ENGINE TO SPUTTER TO AND IDLE. IT IDLED FOR 3 OR 4 SECONDSAND DIED AGAIN. AFTER ANOTHER HALF HOUR I TRIED AGAIN. I STARTED AND RAN ABOUT TEN MINUTES. I HAD THE CAR TOWED HOME IN FEAR OF STALLING OUT AGAIN.

I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM FORD (12/2018) ABOUT A RECALL 18V-735. THIS INVOLVES A "STUCK PURGE VALVE"(CPV) WITH IN THE FUEL VAPOR SYSTEM. THE LETTER SAID I WOULD BE NOTIFIED WHEN THE PART WOULD BE READY FOR THE REPAIR. IT SAID THE PARTS WERE TO ANTICIPATED TO BE AVAILABLE BY 1ST QUARTER, 2019. WE ARE NOW INTO THE 3RD QUARTER OF THE YEAR AND I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE NOTICE OF THE PART BEING READY TO MAKE THE REPAIRS.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.

NHTSA CONTACTED FORD BACK IN MAY 2018 ABOUT THE PURGE VALVE THAT SITS ON TOP OF THE FUEL TANK. FORD ISSUED RECALL 18S32 BACK IN DECEMBER 2018. MY CAR WAS SUPPOSED BE FIXED, ACCORDING TO THE LETTER I RECEIVED FROM FORD, IN JANUARY 2019. FORD HAS PROVIDED NO UPDATES FOR THIS FIX. WHEN I CONTACT FORD, I AM TOLD THERE IS NO TIME TABLE FOR A FIX. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. I AM TOLD BY FORD TO NOT DRIVE UNDER HALF A TANK OF GAS AND NOT TRUST THE GAS GAUGE. THIS NEEDS TO GET FIXED ASAP.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE TO VERIFY IF THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V735000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.

VEHICLE WAS RECALLED FOR NHTSA #18V735 CANISTER PURGE VALVE/FUEL TANK DEFORMATION. WHEN VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SHEEHY FORD OF GAITHERSBURG DEALERSHIP (MARYLAND) FOR CLUTCH REPLACEMENT IN JULY, 2019, DEALERSHIP ALSO CHECKED RECALLED CPV AND DEEMED IT WAS FINE AT THAT TIME. IN EARLY OCTOBER, 2019, APPROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS LATER, CPV STARTS FAILING, REMAINING "STUCK" OPEN, AND VEHICLE DOESN'T START AFTER FUELING. WHEN IT FINALLY STARTS, VEHICLE'S ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REVVED IN ORDER TO KEEP FROM STALLING. FORD AND DEALERSHIP SAY THEY WILL NO LONGER PAY FOR REPLACEMENT OF RECALLED CPV BECAUSE "IT WAS FINE WHEN THEY CHECKED IT" TWO MONTHS PRIOR. OWNERS WITH RECALLED VEHICLES HAVE UNTIL DECEMBER 31, 2019 FOR REIMBURSEMENT OF PRIOR CPV FIX OR COVERED REPLACEMENT OF FAILED, RECALLED PART, HOWEVER. WHILE THIS HAS NOT YET CAUSED AN ACCIDENT, IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD, IT IS A RECALLED PART ON OUR VEHICLE, AND FORD SHOULD STILL COVER REPLACEMENT OF RECALLED PARTS, ESPECIALLY AS WE ARE WITHIN THE GIVEN TIME FRAME OF COVERED REPLACEMENT. ALSO, IF WE HAD NOT HAD TO BRING VEHICLE IN FOR CLUTCH REPLACEMENT JUST TWO MONTHS EARLIER, THE RECALL WOULD STILL BE OPEN ON OUR VEHICLE.

THERE ARE TWO OPEN RECALLS RELATED TO THE FUEL SYSTEM OF MY VEHICLE. I HAVE BEEN CONTACTING MY FORD DEALERSHIP SINCE THE WINTER OF 2018 ABOUT HAVING THE RECALL WORK DONE. THEY HAVE NOT GOTTEN BACK TO ME AND HAVE ONLY STATED THAT THEY WILL WHEN THERE IS A FIX AVAILABLE. AS OF THIS WEEK, 08/14/19, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. TOOK TO AN AUTO PARTS STORE TO HAVE THEM RUN THE CODE. TWO CODES CAME BACK AND BOTH ARE RELATED TO THE FUEL SYSTEM. THE RECALLS IN QUESTION INDICATE THAT THE VEHICLE CAN STOP RUNNING WHILE DRIVING, AND THIS INCREASES THE LIKELIHOOD OF AN A COLLISION. THE CAR IS NOW NOT RUNNING AT ALL. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT FORD HAS TAKEN CLOSE TO A YEAR TO FIX THEIR ERRORS WHICH HAVE CAUSED THESE RECALLS, ESPECIALLY WHEN SAFETY IS A CONCERN.

MY CAR IS PART OF THE 18S32 (FORD) RECALL FOR THE "FUEL TANK DEFORMATION". I HAD IT SERVICED IN MARCH IN BOLIVAR, MO AT BILL GRANT FORD DEALERSHIP. THE REPROGRAMMED THE PART AS NEEDED DUE TO THE MIL BEING ON WITH THE CODE AND STATED THAT THE RECALL HAS BEEN FIXED AND FORD HAS CLOSED THE RECALL ON MY CAR. THE CAR WOULD NOT START AFTER FUELING AND IT COULD TAKE ANYWHERE BETWEEN 5 MINUTES TO UPWARDS OF 45 MINUTES FOR IT TO BE ABLE TO START AFTER FUELING, WHICH LEAVES ME STRANDED AT TIMES. THEIR REPAIR LASTED ABOUT 2-3 WEEKS AND IT WAS BACK TO DOING IT AGAIN SO I AM BACK AT SQUARE 1 WITH THIS CAR. THE CAR IS BACK IN THE SHOP AGAIN AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS OF WAITING TO GET IN THE SHOP. IT IS CURRENTLY AT THE JIM TRENARY FORD DEALSHIP IN MOSCOW MILLS, MO WHERE I RESIDE. THEY ARE SAYING THAT THE PURGE VALVE IS FAILING DUE TO THE RECALL, AS THE RECALL STATES EXACTLY. AND DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE RECALL IS CLOSED ON MY CAR BECAUSE IT WAS REPAIRED ONCE, FORD IS REFUSING TO PAY FOR IT. IT IS NOT MY OBLIGATION TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR AS THIS IS 100% FORD'S FAULT AND I WILL NOT PROVIDE PAYMENT FOR IT. FORD ISSUES THE NEW RECALL (19S22) AND THEY ARE SAYING THAT MINE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL BUT YET IT NEEDS TO BE AS THE ISSUE IS STILL HAPPENING. I HAVE REACHED OUT TO FORD AND THEY STATE THAT THEY WILL NOT COOPERATE WITH PAYING FOR THE REPAIR ON THE VEHICLE, EVEN THOUGH THIS IS THEIR RECALLED PART. OR THEY NEED TO EXPAND THE RECALL FOR A MORE BROAD SPECTRUM OF VEHICLES AS THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I REQUEST THE HELP OF THE NHTSA TO ASSIST ME WITH HAVING FORD FIX WHAT THEY BROKE. THANK YOU.

PRIOR TO, THE CAR WOULD SHUDDER, ALMOST ROCK BACK AND FORTH AT SLOW SPEEDS EITHER IN THE PARKING GARAGE, PARKING LOTS, AT HOME. RECENTLY THE CAR HAD A ROUGH TIME TURNING OVER AFTER FILLING UP AT A GAS STATION. THE CAR SHUDDERED AND SEEMED TO HAVE A HARD TIME MOVING. ABOUT A MILE DOWN THE ROAD THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THIS HAD HAPPENED PREVIOUSLY, HOWEVER, WHEN THE CODE WAS CHECKED IT WENT AWAY (P144A). WITH WHAT I WAS CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING I TOOK IT TO A SHOP AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE PURGE VALVE HAD TO BE REPLACED.

THE FUEL PUMP HAS FAILED ON MY FOCUS. THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. ENGINE TURNS OVER BUT WILL NOT START. IT WAS ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET. MY CAR WAS BUILT 7/14 WHICH FALLS OUTSIDE OF THE RECALL WINDOW WHICH ENDS IN MAY 20014. ITS MY FIRM BELIEF IT MAY VERY WELL BE THE SAME FUEL PUMP ISSUE THE OTHERS ARE HAVING. HAVE NOT MADE ANY REPAIRS YET AS THIS JUST HAPPENED LAST NIGHT 7/30/2019.

MY 2014 FORD FOCUS HAS RUN HIT IT WILL SAY THE TRANSMISSION IS OVERHEATING AND IT WILL CUT ITSELF OFF. FORD MOTOR COMPANY (FMC) ISSUED A RECALL (18S32) IN DECEMBER OF 2018, COPY ATTACHED WITH NOTES OF DATES I FOLLOWED UP WITH THEM. THE ISSUE IS "ON YOUR VEHICLE, THE ENGINE MAY STALL DUE TO A STUCK CANISTER PURGE VALVE (CPV) WITHIN THE FUEL VAPOR SYSTEM." THEIR RECALL LETTER INDICATED THAT "PARTS ARE ANTICIPATED TO BE AVAILABLE BY 1ST QUARTER, 2019." I HAVE FOLLOWED UP WITH FMC THREE TIMES, THE LAST OF WHICH WAS ON 6/24/19 WHEN I "CHATTED" WITH LACY. THAT CHAT WAS TOTALLY UNSATISFACTORY. BASICALLY ALL I HEARD WAS THE CANNED RESPONSE AND NO REAL INDICATION THAT FMC HAS PLACED ANY PRIORITY ON FIXING THE UNSAFE CONDITION. MY HOPE IS THAT YOU CAN "ENCOURAGE" FMC TO TAKE THIS ISSUE SERIOUSLY AND MAKE THE NECESSARY PARTS AVAILABLE ON AN EXPEDITED BASIS. I DO NOT KNOW HOW MANY CARS ARE SUBJECT TO THIS RECALL, BUT I KNOW THAT I DO NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE DRIVING MY CAR ON THE STREET OR HIGHWAY WHERE IT CAN UNEXPECTEDLY STALL AND POTENTIALLY CAUSE HARM TO ME, MY FAMILY, OR SOME OTHER INNOCENT PERSON. ANY "ENCOURAGEMENT" YOU CAN PROVIDE FMC TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE IN A MORE TIMELY MANNER WOULD BE APPROPRIATE AND APPRECIATED. THANK YOU. DAVE

TAKATA RECALL. I TOOK MY 2014 FORD FOCUS TO A FORD DEALERSHIP BECAUSE MY CAR GAS GAUGE WAS SHOWING ERRATIC MILEAGE AND BECAUSE I KNEW I HAD A RECALL. I RECEIVED MY VEHICLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM AS I TOOK IT IN. MY GAUGE STILL KEPT SHOWING ERRATIC MILEAGE.I WENT BACK 5 DAYS LATER TTO TELL THEM WHAT WAS GOING ON AND I ASKED WHAT PROCEDURE THEY HAD DONE. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD ONLY REPROGRAMMED A MODULE. I TOLD THEM IF THEY COULD CHECK IT OUT AGAIN AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD BUT THEY WERE GOING TO CHARGE ME A DIAGNOSTIC FEE BECAUSE THEY HAD ALREADY PERFORMED THE RECALL. THE DIAGNOSTIC CAME OUT AND IT TURNED OUT THAT MY CAR NEEDS A NEW FUEL PUMP, CANISTER PURGE VALVE, AND FUEL TANK. I TOLD THEM THAT THOSE THINGS WERE SUPPOSED TO BE FIXED THE FIRST TIME I BROUGHT IT BECAUSE IT WAS PART OF THE RECALL. THEY TRANSFERRED ME TO FORD INTERNAL SOMETHING AND FORD SAID THAT THE RECALL WAS ALREADY PERFORMED AND THAT IT WAS MY RESPONSIBILITY NOW. I MEAN HOW DOES A COMPANY LIKE FORD CAN BE SO UNPROFESSIONAL ABOUT SOMEBTING LIKE THIS. I MEAN PART OF THE RECALL IS TO TAKE YOUR VEHICLE TO GET THOSE THINGS FIXED THAT THE FORD ASSEMBLY LINE FAILED TO ADDRESS WHEN MAKING THE MODEL. NOW I AM EVEN MORE SCARED BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHEN I WILL GET STRANDED SOMEWHERE BECAUSE I'M NOT SURE WHAT GAS MILEAGE IT HAS.
