2014 Ford Focus FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

I am filing a safety complaint regarding my 2014 Ford Focus due to recurring error codes P0456 (Very Small Leak Detected), P1450 (Unable to Bleed Up Fuel Tank Vacuum), and P2190 (System Too Rich at Idle). These issues relate to the Evaporative Emission Control System (EVAP) and fuel tank system, which have caused symptoms such as intermittent Check Engine Light warnings, fuel odor, and difficulty refueling. These problems were confirmed by an independent service center during diagnostic testing, but the dealership refused to perform a goodwill fix, citing that my vehicle is not currently included in related recalls. This is particularly concerning because a large number of 2014 Ford Focus vehicles—approximately 1.5 million—have been recalled for similar issues with the EVAP and fuel systems, which pose risks such as fuel vapor leaks and stalling due to fuel system pressure irregularities. Although my VIN is not listed under the recall, the identical symptoms strongly suggest my vehicle should be included. I have not had the vehicle inspected by Ford or other representatives, but I urge NHTSA to investigate further as this is a significant safety concern that endangers me and others on the road.

-Canister Purge Valve malfunctioning. Vehicle is available for inspection upon request. -This is a potential safety risk, makes and models within the same year are showing recall. When checking the specific VIN, does not appear to be covered under current recall. -Failure Code P1450 -No -Check Engine Light

Purge value. Code p1450. It tries die on me. Everytime I get gas my car has hard time starting. While driving last few days car tries die or make a surge forward. I'm still having trouble with this transmission ever since I bought it. I been back 3 times for them to adjust something.it has died on me while driving.

My card was recalled several years ago for a Purge Valve Canister. It was repaired but would still cut out sometimes. It is doing it again now, as a matter of fact when you pull up to a light or sudden stop it will stall the engine. Also when you fill up with gas, it does not want to start. I know that when it was fixed, the problem was a band aid fix. There is something in the vehicle causing this Purge Valve canister to malfunction. I think it should be covered under the SAME RECALL and it should be paid for by FORD.

Gas tank was filled and experienced erratic fuel gauge indication during drive. Parked vehicle and next day there was gasoline coming out of the bottom of the car. Towed and mechanic said the gas tank shows deformation, issue where the tube into tank/assembly is defective.

I purchased a new 2014 Ford Focus Electric (FFE) in 2014. I have learned since then that every FFE develops a high voltage battery, the battery that powers the electric motor, coolant leak at no more than 80,000 miles, rendering the car inoperable. Ford will not repair the leak and will only sell a replacement battery. Ford has not issued a recall and is allowing the cooling system for a battery made from a highly combustible material to fail. The cooling system failure also requires the driver to get off the road immediately with the "Stop safely now" message and leaves the driver stranded with a useless car. Check engine light came on due to the code P0442. It was caused by a faulty purge valve, which my car was already recalled due to this. To my knowledge the valve was replaced. The check engine light is on again, same code. The purge valve was replaced again, but the engine light did not turn off. Upon further inspection, the fuel tank is deformed. The purge valve defect can cause the fuel tank to be vacuumed in on itself, and there happens to be another recall on this issue. My car is not part of this recall. Not only is the check engine light on for the deformed fuel tank, but my MPG number does not match up with the amount of mileage I actually have left. There needs to be another recall with the cars that were not in the original group recalled.

My Ford Focus died on me at a stop sign, when trying to start it sounded it seemed like it ran out of gas, put gas in and it leaked out onto the ground. I had it towed to the Sewell Ford in Fayetteville AR 72703. They replaced the R Tube Asv-Fuel Vapour Separa, Fuel Cannister-fuel vapour store, E Tank Esy-Fuel, Ax Sender and Pump Asy and AA Gasket. They said this happened because of pressure in the gas tank. They looked up the recall, that this is associated with and a Ford location in Frisco said it didn't need to be fixed. Obviously it did. I paid 3,173.88 for the repair work. I called Ford Corp number and they stated same as the other Ford location is we closed out without being repaired. Is there anything i can do?

12-18 ford focus equipped with 2.0 GDI or 2.0 GTDI equipped with purge valve, failing causing gas tank deformation

Previously we had our vehicle repaired due to a safety recall regarding the fuel tank canister purge valve. This component is malfunctioning again. I called Ford and was told this recall was no longer active. The vehicle and component are available for inspection as needed. Due to the vehicle stalling at any time this can cause a dangerous situation, especially at highway speeds. Additionally, the vehicle resists starting which could potentially leave us stranded. The check engine light is activated due to this problem which was diagnosed via On-board diagnostics device.

Cars check engine light comes on sporadically and the engine runs rough and cut off in traffic and transmisson jerks

The canister purge valve is stuck open causing a vacuum inside the fuel tank. Fuel tank is currently deformed because of the vacuum. This issue has lead to a recall in other year models of the Ford Focus (2012 & 2017) but not the 2014 Ford Focus.

my 2014 Ford Focus had a check engine light sensor alert on October 4th 2021. I scheduled for an appointment to have the vehicle serviced on October 18th 2021(closest time available). During the two week period I had noticed when I pumped gas that the engine seemed to have stalled when I tried to turn on the ignition. The second time the vehicle finally turned on but there was a low rumble noise. I gassed up a second time and I just heard a low rumble from the vehicle when I started the ignition. on 10/16/2021, I was low on gas but my low tank sensor did not go off so I figured I was okay to drive until I came to a gas station. My vehicle ended up stalling on a freeway while I was driving and I started to decelerate from 65 MPH to 60 and slowly decreasing. Nearly avoiding an accident I had my hazard lights on and slowly made my way to the emergency lane where I came to a complete stop and called for a tow. Upon getting my car serviced they determined that I needed a new fuel tank, fuel pump and purge valve due to the tank being warped. I had run out of gas, but my gauge and sensor did not detect that. Apparently this was a recall item a few years back but the manufacture said that my VIN was not on the recall list so I will have to pay this out of pocket.

The last 5 or 6 times when filling the gas tank , the gas pump shuts off as if the tank is full, it is not. This has happened at multiple gas stations in Monmouth County , NJ.

I know exactly what's wrong because it's a recall that's on certain Ford focuses of this year but apparently not mine for some reason even though I have the problem but it's the emissions control valve that's stuck open my car stalls out after I fuel. I'm having an extreme loss of power sometimes just being me having to push the pedal more down to losing all acceleration all together to where it shuts down the cruise control when I'm on the highway. It's running real rough on idle all of which are signs of this recall but because it's not covered under my car I'm having to pay $100 just to put the car in the shop to have them look at it and tell me what I already know and then I'm going to have to pay whatever it costs to repair it which I'm sure it's going to be 3 to $500 for a problem they've already admitted to lying about before and obviously are lying about now when they say that this series of Ford focus 2014 was not affected so now I have to pay out of pocket for being a Ford customer so I hope it's worth it to them to lose me as a customer for the rest of my life because of something that would have cost them two or $300. And my family for generations have been lifelong ford buyers my family is well known at our local trotter Ford my grandparents literally buy a new car every year and say they're taking their business elsewhere after finding out about this so I don't see where they think they're saving money by lying like they are.

MY VEHICLE WILL NOT START AFTER REFUELING AND STALLED WHILE DRIVING.

This vehicle is experiencing a relapse of the same issues that led to a previous recall. It is experiencing fuel tank issues where the fuel gauge is unreliable and acts as though it is out of fuel despite reporting 1/4 tank. This has put the safety of occupants at risk as we were barely able to get off the highway in time before the vehicle came to a sudden and complete stop. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer as to do so will result in exorbitant out of pocket expense since Ford claims to have fixed the recall issue. That however, is not the case when it reoccurs a year later. Neither police nor insurance have inspected the vehicle as I was unaware that was a possibility The warning lamps that displayed were similar to a vehicle stalling out, which should not happen in an automatic transmission vehicle. It needs to be noted that this is a reoccurring issue of an allegedly fixed recall and Ford refuses to take any action on the matter.

MY VEHICLE WAS PART OF RECALL NHTSA 18S32. MY VEHICLE WAS SERVICED AT TUSCALOOSA FORD IN TUSCALOOSA, AL IN 2019. AT THE TIME I TOOK THE CAR IN MY GAS FUEL NEEDLE WOULD DROP TO EMPTY PERIODICALLY. WHEN I PICKED THE CAR UP, EVERYTHING APPEARED REPAIRED HOWEVER WHEN I WAS LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP THE NEEDLE DROPPED TO EMPTY. I HAD NOT GOTTEN OUT OF THE PARKING LOT OF THE DEALERSHIP. I RETURNED TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WAS TOLD TO JUST CONTINUE MONITORING THE PROBLEM AND KEEP MY TANK HALF FULL. I CALLED TO CHECK ON REPLACEMENT OF THE GAS TANK ON 1/25/21, AS I HAD RUN OUT OF GAS BECAUSE LIFE GOT IN MY WAY AND I HAD FAILED TO MONITOR CLOSE ENOUGH. I HAVE NOW BEEN TOLD THAT THE DAY MY CAR WAS PICK D UP AND I WAS TOLD TO CONTINUE MONITORING, THAT IT WAS DETERMINED I DID NOT NEED A NEW GAS TANK. THIS IS BULL!!! I HAVE MONITORED THIS PROBLEM FOR TWO YEARS NOW AND MY VEHICLE WILL OBVIOUSLY BE USELESS AS A TRADE-IN. I CANNOT BE THE ONLY PERSON THAT SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN A NEW TANK UNDER 18S32 AND DID NOT. GAS MILEAGE WAS NOT CORRECT AND TOOK TO A MECHANIC WHERE THEY FOUND A WARPED FUEL TANK THAT WAS CAUSING DISTANCE TO EMPTY TO BE INACCURATE. TOLD ME I NEEDED A FUEL TANK AND CHARCOAL CANISTER THAT WOULD COST OVER $1000 . CALLED A FORD DEALERSHIP TO EXPLAIN THAT IT WAS HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES TO A RECALL FORD FOCUSES ARE HAVING WITH THE FUEL TANK BUT TOLD ME THERE IS NO RECALL ON MY VEHICLE AND REACHED OUT TO FORD DIRECTLY AND TOLD ME THE SAME THING AND JUST TO MAKE SURE I KEEP MY RECEIPTS. WELL WHEN DRIVING MY CAR FOR A WHILE MORE THEN A HOUR OR SO I WOULD RANDOMLY STOP I. THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY PRETTY MUCH IF YOUR PUSHING THE GAS IT'S LIKE PUSHING THE BRAKE THE FUEL WOULDN'T GO TO THE CAR TO MQKE IT MOVE I HAVE TO IMMEDIATELY TURN MY CAR OFF I WAS SCARED IT WOULD BREAK THE ENGINE OR SO THING IT WAS UNSAFE CAUSE IT WAS ON THE FREEWAY SO I COULD OF GOTTEN HIT FROM THE BACK I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP CAUSE THEY SAID IT WAS THE RECALL ON MY CAR BUT I'VE TAKEN IT 3 TIMES NOW AND THEY TELL ME THEY CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM IT'S GETTING FRUSTRATING CAUSE THEY ACT LIKE THEY DON'T CARE ALL THEY WORRY ABOUT IS GETTING THERE LOANER CAR BACK THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THE SAFETY OF THERE CUSTOMERS

THE CAR SHUT DOWN AFTER I FULL IT UP WILL GAS I WONT START U HAVE TO WANT A MIN THEM THE CAR FILL START

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 FORD FOCUS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS THEN INFORMED BY (RIVERTOWN FORD 1680 WHITTLESEY RD, COLUMBUS, GA 31904) THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V735000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE). IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT A DIAGNOSTIC TEST BE PERFORMED ON THE PURGE VALVE. THE RESULT WAS THAT THE PURGE VALVE WAS INTACT SO THE SOFTWARE UPDATE WOULD BE PERFORMED. THE SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS PERFORMED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BATTERY, IDLE SENSOR, THROTTLE BODY CONTROL MODULE AND PURGE VALVE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED NOR INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

I WAS DRIVING HOME WHEN OUT OF NOWHERE, MY VEHICLE IS STARTING TO STALL AND I KEPT PUNCHING THE GAS AND IT WAS LIKE THE KEY WAS OFF. LUCKILY, EVEN THO I WAS IN TRAFFIC, I WAS IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE AND THERE WAS A SHOULDER I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER ON. YOU CAN TURN IT OVER AND IT QUICKLY STALLS. WHEN I GOT MY VEHICLE TO BE CODE READ, IT SAID ,'NO FUEL DELIVERED TO THE FUEL RAIL.' I COULD HAVE CAUSED OR BEEN IN A HORRIBLE WRECK IF LUCK HAD NOT BEEN THAT I WAS CLOSE TO A SHOULDER TO PULL OVER AT. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY DRIVING IN MULTIPLE LANES THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE

VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE 'STOP SAFELY NOW' ALERT CAME ON AND DISABLED POWER TO THE CAR. I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE SAFELY BUT UNFORTUNATELY, IT DIDN'T TURN ON AGAIN SO IT HAD TO BE TOWED TO MY HOUSE. AFTER TRYING MULTIPLE TIMES WITH NO LUCK, I HAD IT TOWED TO THE FORD DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND REPAIRS. I KNOW THIS DEFECT IS KNOWN BY FORD SINCE SOME RECALLS HAVE BEEN ISSUED BUT TO TRY TO REPAIR THE CONCERN. MY CAR'S 'ELECTRIC UNIQUE COMPONENT' 8 YEAR WARRANTY IS STILL VALID BUT FORD IS TRYING TO CHARGE ME FOR THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLES 12V BATTERY DIED DUE TO THE PROBLEM BUT THEY MADE ME PURCHASE A NEW ONE FOR $180. I BELIEVE I SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN CHARGED SINCE THE ISSUE WAS CAUSED BY THE CARS DEFECT. THE CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER FOR 2 WEEKS WITH NO RESOLUTION. I JUST FEEL I WANTED TO MAKE A COMPLAINT TO MAYBE GET ASSISTANCE WITH FORD ACKNOWLEDGING THAT THE ISSUE SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND ATTENTION.

MY CAR STALLS WHEN DRIVING WITHOUT WARNING AND SHUTS OFF AFTER I FILL THE TANK AND WHEN THE TANK IS LOW. I HAVE DIFFICULTY STARTING THE VEHICLE WHEN I FILL UP.
