2015 Ford Focus FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

I am in possession of Recall18S32/NHTSA recall18V-735 notice that has not been repaired but it is not showing up on my VIN and Model lookup.

To Whom It May ConcernI am writing regarding the fuel system recall on my 2015 Ford Focus (VIN: [XXX] ), specifically related to Recall Number 18S32 / NHTSA Campaign Number 18V735000, which involves the canister purge valve, a required PCM software update, and inspection of the gas tank. This recall was started at a Ford dealership in Two Harbors Minnesota which I paid cash in December 2022. The problem consisted with many inconveniences in side of the road break downs. I had the recall serviced again in 2024 in Blythe CA at Ford where the purge valve was supposedly replaced, but the software update was never completed by that Ford because they claimed that the update was done in Parker AZ around 2022. The gas tank was not inspected for damage. My car is stalling in the middle of driving leaving me in grave danger since this happens on the freeway in Las Vegas, in the middle of nowhere in the desert and has done so in below zero degree in Minnesota all while I have my two small children in the car with me. This jeopardizes myself and children’s lives by stranding us in unknown places and weather elements that are harass or stalling on freeway not allowing me enough warning to get to the side of the road which could cause someone to hit my car from behind at a high rate. The full recall has not been performed. I bought this faulty car in Parker AZ which it should have never been sold with this problem jeapordizong my family’s life. The fuel tank has never been inspected either. Recent: The car keeps dying in traffic in Las Vegas traffic. I paid to have it towed to a dealership which is harassing me and not fixing the car with excuse after excuse such as the car isn’t under recall and the battery terminal needs to be cleaned. Their excuses are petty when it comes to my vehicle, continuously stalling in the middle of traffic in Las Vegas on a busy freeway due to your recall that has not been completed. Car is stalling at low speed and losing power. Does not do it at high speed. Occasional check engine light. Will start surging. This is a know issue with the Ford Focus and Ford has issued a Customer Satisfaction Program 24N07. They refuse to honor the program unless you keep paying them for diagnostic work until the code shows up for it. I have ran the codes myself on it and it is fuel related to the Canister Purge Valve. This issue is very dangerous in that the car does stall out on the road with no warning. I have had this issue with the car for several years and have received the CSP letter but cannot get the work done. The issue happened 3 times yesterday, 11-5-2025.

This car has had repeated issues rough idle after fueling for years. Replacing the oxygen sensor did not resolve the problem. The dealer resetting the car's computer did not resolve the problem. I recently had to replace the canister purge valve (CPV) after the car began stalling after fueling. This resolved the idle issue. I noticed Ford recalled CPVs on Ford Focuses built in Michigan (as mine was) between 2012-2018 (GDI) and before 2017 (GTDI); however, my car was excluded from this recall. Can you please investigate to determine if there are additional vehicles which also received defective parts for which the cost to replace them should be covered? Thank you.

This vehicle stalls while driving due to a faulty purge solenoid inspected by Pep Boys mechanic. There was a recall on the ford focus in 2018 18V735000(recall number) I purchased this vehicle in 2023 with no known recalls. This issue occurred September 2024 I paid for the repair two weeks ago and now the same issue is existing. There were no warning lights displayed when the car stalled while driving. My safety and the safety of my child is at risk being that the vehicle stalls while driving which is could be the cause for accidents and or collisions

The EVAP system has failed and has resulted in drivability issues. It is available for inspection if needed. The problem has been confirmed by an independent service provider with a full diagnostic exam. There is a P0420 and P1450 code on the car. There have been issues with the distance to empty on the car. Sometimes it says I have 290 miles to empty or 400 miles to empty when I fully fill up my car with gas. *There is a Ford Focus recall (Recall #[XXX]) which covers the exact issues I’m having with this car, but the car is not included in this recall. When the engine is hot, it stalls and stops after starting. and this happens several times a day. There was a situation when the engine stopped in the middle of the road near an elementary school, which hampered the flow of traffic. Also, when refueling, the cutoff on the filling hose is constantly activated. two faults occur regularly

ALL OF THE PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH Campaign/NHTSA#18S32/18V735 (Issue Date 2018-10-22) OCCURRED AGAIN WITH 5 TEENAGERS IN THE CAR, SOUTHBOUND ON I-65 BETWEEN OHIO AND FLORIDA, CAUSING THE CAR TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP! THIS KNOWN PROBLEM/FORD RECALL SYSTEMS FAILURE REPEATED JUST 3 YEARS AFTER REMEDIATION/RECALL, STRANDING 5 TEENAGERS ON THE TENNESSEE-ALABAMA LINE FOR 2 DAYS AND THEN REQUIRING AN EXPENSIVE TOW TO FLORIDA (FOR VACATION) AND THEN AGAIN HOME (BECAUSE IT WAS NOT CORRECTLY DIAGNOSED AT THE FORD SERVICE CENTER IN FLORIDA)! THE FORD DEALERSHIPS/SERVICE CENTERS IN Panama City, FL STATED THERE WAS A COMPUTER PROBLEM WHICH COULDN'T BE FIXED THERE FOR OVER TWO WEEKS, SO THE CAR WAS TOWED TO OHIO. HERE, THE FORD SERVICE CENTER IN WCH, OHIO ([XXX}) DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS REQUIRING REPLACEMENT PARTS AND LABOR FOR: " FUEL PUMP, O-RING, NEW FUEL TANK AND VAPOR TUBE/PURGE VALVE ON ENGINE FOR 'STUCK OPEN VALVES' 'NOT PULLING FUEL' AND COLLAPSE OF THE FUEL TANK ITSELF.' $1248.47 P/L + TAXES + TOWING X2 + $150 DIAGNOSTIC EVAL. THIS IS EXACTLY THE SAME SCENARIO AS THE OCTOBER 2018 FUEL TANK DEFORMATION RECALL Campaign/NHTSA#18S32/18V735. THIS CAR HAD THE REQUIRED RECALL PERFORMED IN MARCH 2020 AT LEBANON FORD ([XXX]) IN LEBANON, OHIO, BUT JUST 3 YEARS LATER, THE ENTIRE SYSTEM FAILED AGAIN, PUTTING 5 TEENAGERS AT GRAVE RISK (WHILE TRAVELING AT INTERSTATE SPEEDS OF 65-70MPH)--TWO OF WHOM WERE MY DAUGHTERS! Check engine light came on Code P1450 Dealer diagnosed Canister Purge Valve needed to be replaced. My ViN not under recall! This has been a common problem for other 2015 Ford Focus vehicles and many under recall. Recall notice should be expanded to include those of us with this same issue.

Car stalling out while driving with gas tank under half full. Canister fuel pump bad again after 2 1/2 years of replacements

I received a P1450 Code on my Ford Focus ST Accompanied with a CEL, after researching there seems to be a issue with the purge valve and not displaying gas levels correctly. It is available for inspection, I am concerned regarding this issue because I want my fuel levels to display correctly, and if I stall on the road I want to be able to reactivate my car without any issues. The issue is reported on a engine code recording device. There was a Check Engine Light.

Car turns off after filling with gas. Does not start properly after refilling tank. If I stop sometimes even in traffic it’ll automatically turn off.

My car‘s check engine light came on, then the whole car suddenly shut off while I was driving down the highway. After getting it restarted, I filled it with gas and after beginning to drive it, the car shut off again. I have run a code on the check engine light and it stated that the EVAP hose needed to be replaced. I called the dealership and they said that it was likely the CVP as this caused the same issue and multiple vehicles were having to have them replaced.

The engine on the car stalled shortly after the vehicle purchase from a local dealer (within less than two weeks), The dealer claimed that he never had a such issue, I had to get the car towed to a local Ford dealership then they found out the issue was the purge valve sticking causing negative pressure in the gas tank, so they ended up replacing the purge valve and updated the PCM which should have been addressed by the Safety Recall 18S32 & Safety Recall 19S22. What makes me confused is that when I did VIN lookup , my car was not affected, however the issue I had seems to be the exact match of those two recalls I mentioned. I nearly paid $800 after tax and this seems quite upsetting after I found out Ford had to recall nearly 1.5M cars for the same issues which excluded my vehicle. Is there anyway appeal this issue? I highly believe that Ford is responsible for those two issues I had to pay for. I attached the dealer invoice that explained what they did to fix the car.

ENGINE STALLS WHILE DRIVING IT AND WON'T START BACK WITHOUT WARNING IT USE AFTER PUTTING GAS IN IT I SEEN WHERE THEY ARE RECALL 2012-2018 FORD FOCUS CPV BUT WHEN I PUT THE VIN IN IT DOESN'T SHOW UP BUT MY IS DOIN THE SAME THING

DRIVING ENGINE WILL STALL AND ENGINE WON'T START IF YOU GET GAS. PURGE VALVE IS NOT WORKING CORRECTLY AND THERE ISN'T A RECALL CURRENTLY ON THIS CAR BUT ON OTHERS 2012-2018 FOCUSES.

I STARTED THROUGH A BUSY INTERSECTION ON A GREEN LIGHT. THE CAR LOST POWER STEALING IN THE INTERSECTION. I BLOCKED TRAFFIC FOR SEVERAL MINUTES BEFORE I COULD GET ASSISTANCE TO MOVE THE CAR OUT OF THE WAY. NO ONE HIT MY CAR BUT IT WAS A DANGEROUS SITUATION.

MY 1.0L FOCUS HAD A DEFECTIVE CANISTER PURGE VALVE AND SUFFERED FROM STALLING AS DESCRIBED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN 18V735000. THE ACTIVE DIAGNOSTIC CODES AND LOCAL FORD DEALER DIAGNOSIS CONFIRMED THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE HAD FAILED. THE ONLY REMEDY WAS TO PAY FOR MY LOCAL DEALER TO REPLACE THE CANISTER PURGE VALVE OUT OF POCKET SINCE MY CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE REFERENCED RECALL. THERE ARE MANY OTHER 1.0L FOCUS OWNERS THAT HAVE SAID THEIR CANISTER PURGE VALVES HAVE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED IN ONLINE FORUMS.. *TR

ON OCT. 11, 2020, WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE CAR LOST POWER AND STALLED MULTIPLE TIMES. TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND DIAGNOSED AS FAULTY LOW PRESSURE FUEL PUMP. SIX WEEKS EARLIER THE FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR WAS REPLACED, TOO.

ON AUG. 25, 2020,WHILE DRIVING IN CITY TRAFFIC, CAR STALLED MULTIPLE TIMES, CIL CAME ON, CAR WOULD NOT DRIVE. TOWED TO DEALERSHIP AND DIAGNOSED AS FAULTY FUEL PRESSURE SENOR.

STARTED CAR IN PARKING LOT, ENTERED ROADWAY, TRIED TO ACCELERATE AND CAR WOULD NOT GO. PULLED OVER TURNED CAR OFF AND RESTARTED. CAR WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME HOWEVER NEXT TIME CAR WAS STARTED CAR AGAIN WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ON ROAD. WHOLE CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE. CHECK ENGINE AND BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP UNSAFE FOR DRIVING. TOLD IT WAS THE FUEL PUMP THAT WAS BAD. ONLY HAVE 33,552 MILES ON CAR. COST $700 TO FIX. AFTER IT WAS FIXED CAR NO LONGER STUTTERED (WHICH IT'S DONE THE WHOLE 5 YEARS I HAVE OWNED IT) AND THE MILEAGE TO EMPTY READ 418. NOT ONCE HAS IT EVERY READ 400 OR OVER BEFORE. DEALERSHIP COULD GIVE NO EXPLANATION WHY FUEL PUMP WENT BAD.

THE CPV IS STUCK OPEN . DAMAGE TO THE FUEL PUMP AND GAS TANK. YEARS MODELS FROM 2012 -2018 WITH SAME PROBLEM ARE ON THE RECALL, BUT MY VEHICLE IS NOT FOR SOME REASON. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO GET SOMEONE TO EXPLAIN THIS TO ME. THE PROBLEM CAUSES THE CAR TO SHACK AND STALL OUT.

CAR STALLS AND TURNS OFF WHEN SLOWING DOWN OR STOPPING AT LIGHTS OR STOP SIGNS I HAVE ALMOST BEEN IN TWO WRECKS. THIS RECALL HAPPENED BEFORE I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE AND THE CAR COMPANY FAILED TO GIVE ME INFORMATION ABOUT RECALL.

MULTIPLE FORD DEALERSHIPS ARE REFUSING TO COMPLETE RECALL WORK (RECALL 18S32) ON MY 2015 FORD FOCUS SE. I HAVE THE PAPER THEY SENT ME DETAILING THE PROBLEMS, AND I AM CURRENTLY EXPERIENCING THESE ISSUES WHILE DRIVING, HOWEVER FORD SAYS THAT SINCE THEY "LOOKED AT" THE RECALLED PART ABOUT 6-8 WEEKS AGO, THEY CAN NO LONGER COMPLETE THE RECALL WORK AND THAT I WOULD BE FINANCIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR FIXING THIS ISSUE.

THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AND MAKING A LEFT TURN TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED A SECOND TIME WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ED KENLEY FORD INC LOCATED AT (1888 N MAIN ST, LAYTON, UT 84041) WERE THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 45,530.
