MY 2006 FORD FUSION JERKS VIOLENTLY WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE OR BRAKE. IT DOES NOT ACCELERATE AT TIMES, IT INSTEAD JUST REVS MY RPM GAUGE. IT HAS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY GOING HWY SPEEDS OF 60-70, AS WELL AS GOING 35 MPH ON A MILITARY BASE. IT BUMPED WHILE BRAKING AT SPEEDS LESS THAN 20 MPH AS WELL. FORD NEEDS TO ISSUE RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE BECAUSE IT IS ABSOLUTELY UNSAFE, ESPECIALLY FOR CUSTOMERS WITH CHILDREN. THE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS SIMILAR TO MINE IS APPALLING, AS FORD STILL SEES NO RESPONSIBILITY OVER IT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION ENGAGED INTO FOURTH GEAR, OVERDRIVE, AND THEN DOWNSHIFTED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, BUT MANAGED TO MOVE THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO A TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION GEAR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 133,547.

WHEN DRIVING ON CITY STREET AT 45MPH THE CAR JOLTED EXCESSIVELY ONCE AND THEN WENT OUT OF GEAR UNTILL IT SLOWED TO 30MPH AND SLAMMED AGAIN VIOLENTLY AND RPMS WENT UP TO 5000 WHICH MAINTANED MY SPEED AT 45MPH AT THAT TIME THE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND AS I WAS COMING TO A RED LIGHT IT JERKED FORWARD WHILE I WAS BRAKING ALMOST HIT A PEDESTRIAN IN CROSSWALK. AT GREEN LIGHT I ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE BUT THE CAR MOVED SLOWLY UNTILL IT REACHED 25 MPH AND THEN WENT OUT OF GEAR WHILE I WAS ON THE GAS I TRIED TO PUT IT INTO LOW GEAR TO GET GOING SO I COULD PULL OVER BUT IT DIDNT RESPOND AS THIS WAS HAPPENING A DESIEL TRUCK HAD REAR ENDED ME TOTALING THE CAR I JUST BOUGHT A WEEK PRIOR. . ITS VERY UNSAFE CAR FOR THIS TRANSMISSION IS APPARENTLY PLAGUED WITH THIS PROBLEM FOR SO MANY OTHERS I JUST HOPE IT DOSENT TAKE EVEN ONE DEATH OF ANOTHER LIFE BEFORE THIS PROBLEM IS ADMITTED AND RECALLED TO FIX. SO MANY DEPEND ON THEIR CAR AS I HAD DEPENDED ON FORDS SLOGANS BUILT FORD TOUGH ...YEAH BUILT TO GET US NEARLY KILLED I SAY. THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS LOST IN THE CAR PURCHASE AND LOST WORK AND MEDICAL BILLS I MAY NOT RECOVER FROM. AT LEAST I DIDNT DIE AND AM THANKFULL FOR THAT. BUT I WILL NEVER LOOK AT FORD THE SAME WAY AS MY NIGHTMARES CONSUME ME WITH THE REOCCURRING DETAILS OF MY NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE I HAD OPERATING THIS FUSION SE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FUSION. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 20-38 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT GEARS, JERKED SEVERELY, AND THE CHECK ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANDERSON FORD LINCOLN (3601 STOCKTON HILL RD, KINGMAN, AZ 86409, (928) 757-3131) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE 4TH AND 5TH GEARS WERE INCORRECT. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER FOR THE GEAR REPAIRS, IT WAS ALSO DIAGNOSED THAT THE VALVE BODY AND SOLENOIDS NEEDED REPLACEMENT, AND THE PCM AND TCM NEEDED REPROGRAMMING. ALL THE REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT TRANSMISSION FACILITY WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH THE SAME FAILURE AND PARTS AS THE DEALER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ONCE AGAIN REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT TRANSMISSION FACILITY WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION NEEDED REPLACEMENT AND THE FAILURE WAS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH FORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS NOT REPLACED BECAUSE HE ALREADY SPENT MONEY TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.

OUR 2006 FUSION SEL'S TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN SLIPPING OUT OF GEAR SINCE AROUND 44K MILES. WHILE IN FORWARD MOTION, REGARDLESS OF THE CURRENT SPEED OR RPMS THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS OUT OF GEAR AND THE FOLLOWING MAY HAPPEN, SOMETIMES ALL IN THE SAME OCCURRENCE: (1) A SUDDEN TRANSMISSION SURGE THEN A JERK RESULTING IN HIGH REVVING RPMS WITH NO FORWARD POWER. THE GAS PEDAL ONLY REVS THE ENGINE WITH NO FORWARD ACCELERATION (2) A SUDDEN GRAB/SLAM OUT OF AND BACK INTO GEAR JOLTING ANYONE IN THE CAR SIGNIFICANTLY (3) GEAR SLIPPAGE RESULTING IN HIGH REVVING RPM INTO THE RED ZONE, NO FORWARD ACCELERATION, AND NO RETURN TO PREVIOUS OR ANY OTHER GEAR (4) BUCKING SURGES OF ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION MAKING THE CAR IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL AND DRIVE SAFELY. WHILE ADVANCING FROM A COMPLETE STOP SUCH AS A STOP SIGN OR TRAFFIC SIGNAL (1) TRANSMISSION MAY NOT COME OUT OF HIGH GEAR AND CAR WILL MOVE ONLY SLOWLY UNTIL STOPPED AND RESTARTED (2) TRANSMISSION STAYS IN HIGH GEAR AND THE CAR MOVES SLOWLY ONLY TO UNCONTROLLABLY JOLT FORWARD WHILE SLAMMING INTO A LOWER GEAR. ALL OF THE ABOVE MAY OR MAY NOT BE SOLVED BY STOPPING AND RESTARTING THE CAR. THE ABOVE ISSUES HAPPEN REGARDLESS OF THE TYPE OF ROADWAY, SPEED TRAVELING, AND WHETHER THE CAR IS TRAVELING IN A STRAIGHT PATH OR TURNING. WE WERE TOLD BY A FORD DEALERSHIP THAT IT WAS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT PRESENTS ITSELF AROUND 40K MILES AND USUALLY AFTER THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. ESTIMATES TO REPAIR RANGED FROM $2,500 TO $4,500. IN ADDITION TO THE REPAIR COSTS, THERE IS THE MUCH HIGHER POTENTIAL COSTS OF LOST LIVES DUE TO THE LACK OF CONTROL THIS ISSUE PUTS THE DRIVER IN. WHEN A DRIVER IMMEDIATELY HAS NO CONTROL OF FORWARD MOMENTUM AND SUDDENLY HAS NO WAY TO DIRECT THE VEHICLE TO A SAFE LOCATION AT CURRENT TRAFFIC SPEEDS, THERE IS A SUDDEN POTENTIAL FOR LOSS OF LIVES FOR THE OCCUPANTS OF THE CAR AND POTENTIALLY THE VEHICLES FOLLOWING BEHIND.

2006 FORD FUSION: TRANSMISSION SLIPPING WHILE DRIVING. SLOWS DOWN WHILE ON FREEWAY AND GOES IN OUT OF GEAR. TOOK IT TO AMMCO AND THEY RECOMMEND A REBUILT TRANSMISSION. I SEE MANY OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS THEY RECALLED FOCUS AND FIESTA WHY NOT FUSION? IT IS THE SAME ISSUE THAT IS IN BEING SETTLED NOW WITH THE FOCUS AND FORD FIESTA. THIS IS NOT ONLY DANGEROUS BUT COSTLY. WAS ON THE FREEWAY IN TRAFFIC. CAR STARTING SURGING AND WAS HARD TO KEEP IT IN A STOPPED POSITION. ONCE TRAFFIC STARTED FLOWING, I STEPPED ON GAS AND WOULD HAD NO POWER COULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 20 MILES AN HOUR. CAR WAS TOWED TO SHOP. DEALER SAID IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY. I RESEARCHED AND FORD HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM ON THEIR CARS, BUT SAID MINE IS NOT INCLUDED EVEN THOUGH I FELL INTO THE 10 YEAR UNDER 150,000 MILES. THEY SAID MY VIN IS NOT COVERED.

MY 06 FUSION HAS BEEN SHIFTING FUNNY, BUT I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS. WHILE HAVING MY OIL CHANGED, I HAD A 6 POINT INSPECTION DONE, AND NOTHING CAME BACK EXCEPT MY TIE-RODS NEEDING REPLACED. ONE NIGHT, WHILE DRIVING HOME, SUDDENLY MY CAR HAD A HESITATION WHEN SHIFTING INTO SECOND GEAR. IT WOULD REV UP TO 3 RPM, THEN SHIFT HARD INTO 2ND GEAR AND RUN FINE. TWO STOP LIGHTS LATER, THE SHIFT BEGAN TO GET HARDER. I FINALLY MADE IT HOME, BUT LATER HAD TO RUN AN ERRAND. THE SHIFTING GOT WORSE. NOW, IT WAS AS IF I WAS ABOUT TO GET A NECK INJURY FROM THE SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR. I REALIZED THAT I NEEDED TO GET HOME, BECAUSE IT WAS TOO LATE TO GO TO THE DEALERSHIP. WHEN HEADING TO WORK THE NEXT MORNING, THE WRENCH LIGHT POPPED UP ON THE DASHBOARD. LIVING ONLY 7 MINUTES FROM WORK, I THOUGHT I WAS FINE. BUT NOW, I NO LONGER MADE IT TO 2ND GEAR. IT STAYED ON FIRST, AND REMAINED REVVED UP TO THE POINT IT WAS LOSING POWER. I WAS SCARED THAT I WAS GOING TO GET STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. NOW, WITH MY VEHICLE IN THE SHOP, I'M BEING TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS AN OVERHAUL. THE COST IS $2800. WHEN IS THE RECALL GOING TO COME INTO PLAY?

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT THE SPEED WOULD DECREASE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE VARIABLE VALVE SOLENOIDS, THE IGNITION COILS, THE PCM REFLASH AND THE SPARK PLUGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.

COMING OFF AN EXIT RAMP AT APPROX. 35 MPH I FELT A JERKING/STALLING FEELING AS I MERGED INTO FREEWAY TRAFFIC WHERE THE SPEED LIMIT IS 65 MPH. I VIEWED MY INSTRUMENT PANEL AND FOUND THE WRENCH SYMBOL ILLUMINATED. ACCELERATION WAS SLUGGISH BRIEFLY, BUT AFTER AWHILE ACCELERATION SEEMED TO RETURN TO NORM. ALL THE WHILE THE WRENCH LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED FOR AN APPROX. 25 MILES. ONCE IN A SAFE LOCATION I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND WAITED APPROXIMATELY TWO MINUTES BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO RESTART IT. UPON RESTARTING THE WRENCH LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ILLUMINATED. I DROVE THE CAR ANOTHER APPROX. 10 MILES TO MAKE IT HOME AND THE WRENCH LIGHT IS NO LONGER ILLUMINATED WHEN CAR IS RESTARTED. THIS ALL TOOK PLACE IN THE MIDST OF A SNOW/SLEET STORM. A DRIVE THAT TYPICALLY TAKES APPROX. 45 MINUTES TOOK APPROX. 4 HOURS. I CALLED THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF MY LOCAL FORD DEALERSHIP AND UNDERSTANDABLY I FOUND THAT THEY HAD CLOSED AND REOPENING THE NEXT DAY WAS/IS IN QUESTION DUE TO THE WEATHER. *TR

WHILE SHIFTING FROM HIGHER GEAR TO LOWER GEAR WHILE CLIMBING A HILL, TRANSMISSION JUMPED BETWEEN GEARS, SLAMMING THE GEARS AS IF POPPING A CLUTCH (IT'S AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). ON ANOTHER HILL, THE VEHICLE DID NOT ENGAGE IN THE LOWER GEAR, REVVING UP TO ABOUT 4000 RPM AS IF IN NEUTRAL, LEAVING THE CAR DECELERATING ON THE UPHILL STRETCH AMONG SPEEDING TRAFFIC. I HAD TO MOVE THE GEAR SHIFT TO NEUTRAL AND BACK TO DRIVE, EASE ON THE ACCELERATOR, AND THE LOWER GEAR ENGAGED, AFTER SLOWING TO ABOUT 35 ON 65 MPH SPEED LIMIT FREEWAY. FORD LISTS THE REPAIR IN TSB 08-24-1 AS "TRANSMISSION HARSH SHIFTING" AND RECOMMENDS REPLACEMENT OF THE MAIN CONTROL. THIS PART HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED AS FAULTY AND COMMON WITH THE TRANSMISSIONS INSTALLED ON MY VEHICLE AND MANY OTHER MAKES AND MODELS. IT PRESENTS A CLEAR DANGER TO DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS WHO RISK BEING REAR-ENDED DUE TO SUDDEN DECELERATION OR STRANDED DUE TO "HARSH SHIFTING" DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION AND DRIVE TRAIN. I HAVE NO CONFIDENCE DRIVING THE CAR OUT OF TOWN OR NEAR ANY HILL, AND THE VEHICLES SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR

I WAS TRYING TO ACCELERATE TO MERGE ON TO THE FREEWAY. MY 2006 FORD FUSION REFUSED TO RESPOND. THE REVS WENT UP TO 4000 RPM AND THE CAR JUST STAYED THERE GOING VERY SLOWLY. AFTER A FEW SECONDS, IT JERKED FORWARD, SO I PULLED BACK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND LET THE "TANTRUM" PAST. I'VE HAD SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS SINCE-- THE MOST SCARY ONE OCCURRING IN STOP-AND-GO TRAFFIC. WHEN ACCELERATING AFTER SLOWING DOWN, THE FUSION WILL REV UP AND CREEP SLOWLY FORWARD UNTIL ONE REMOVES ONE'S FOOT FROM THE GAS PEDAL AND ALLOW IT TO SETTLE BACK IN GEAR. LUCKILY, I'VE AVOIDED BEING REAR-ENDED BY FAST APPROACHING CARS. RECENTLY, FORD CLEANED THE THROTTLE BODY AND CHARGED $232.00, I STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND AM STILL WAITING FOR A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE. INCIDENTALLY, THE STALLING ALSO HAPPENS AFTER MAKING A RIGHT OR LEFT HAND TURN. *TR

MY 2006 FORD FUSION WITH A 3.0 V6 AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION HAS HAD THE FOLLOWING SAME ISSUES OVER THE PAST 18 MONTHS: - LOSES POWER AT CITY, HIGHWAY AND PARKING LOT SPEEDS WITHOUT WARNING .... AT LEAST A HALF-OF-DOZEN TIMES - ENGINE STILL IDLES/RUNS ROUGH, BUT WILL NOT ACCELERATE BEYOND 15-20 MPH - WRENCH LIGHT INDICATOR COMES ON, (SOMETIMES ENGINE LIGHT TOO). WHEN I TURN THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTART THE VEHICLE, IT WILL OPERATE FINE MOST THE TIMES. IT HAS DONE IT REPEATEDLY A COUPLE OF TIMES. THE WRENCH LIGHT INDICATOR WILL GO OFF AFTER RESTART, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL REMAIN ON FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS THEN GO OUT. - FORD CLAIMS THAT THE 2006 FUSION IS NOT COVERED UNDER CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM #13N03 WHICH COVERS NEWER FUSIONS AND OTHER FORD MODELS. FORD ADVISE TO HAVE THE REPAIR MADE AND THEY WILL REIMBURSE CUSTOMERS OF THE REPAIR EXPENSE AT A FUTURE DATE, IF FORD SHOULD EVER ISSUE A CSP PROGRAM FOR THE 2006 FUSION. - I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS AND RURAL HIGHWAYS WITHOUT SHOULDERS TO PULL OVER. AS REPORTED MULTIPLE TIMES THESE TRANSMISSIONS BEGIN TO SLIP VERY BADLY. WHILE TRYING TO MERGE INTO TRAFFIC ALMOST 90% OF THE TIME HOT OR COLD AT ABOUT 40MPH WHEN YOU PRESS THE GAS THE TRANSMISSION WILL SLIP LEAVING YOU HANGING OUT TO DRY(THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS)...WHEN DOWNSHIFTING SOMETIMES AROUND 20MPH THERE WILL BE A LOUD BANGING UNDER THE DRIVERS SIDE AREA...THE TSB WAS ISSUED WAY BACK IN 2007 REGARDING ALL THESE ISSUES BUT NO RECALL...THE FLOOR MATS WERE RECALLED? BUT NOT THIS ISSUE. ALL OVER THE INTERNET YOU SEE THE INSANE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE DUE TO THE AISIN TRANSMISSION THEY USED....SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED IN MULTIPLE MAKES AND MODELS OF VEHICLES WITH SAME TRANSMISSION COMPONENTS. WAS DRIVING DOWN A BUSY HIGHWAY WHEN THE CAR JUST CHUGGED AND DIED. THE TOOL LIGHT CAME ON AFTER IT FAILED TO GO BY GIVING IT GAS.THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MY CAR. TRYING TO ACCELERATE ONTO HIGHWAY, VEHICLE WOULD REV UP TO LIMIT 6K AND SLAM INTO GEAR CAUSING TIRES TO SPIN AND ALMOST LOSE CONTROL. HAVE TO PARK AND TURN OFF VEHICLE TO RESUME DRIVING. OTHERS TIME CAR WOULD JUST LOSE MOMENTUM AND RPMS GO VERY HIGH BUT NO MOVEMENT. AGAIN, PARK CAR TURN OFF AND RESUME DRIVING. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 FORD FUSION. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IDLE, IT RESPONDED AS IF IT WAS SHUTTING DOWN. WHEN GASOLINE WAS ADDED TO THE VEHICLE, IT ONLY ACCELERATED UP TO 5 MPH. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE SHUT DOWN AND RESTARTED IN ORDER TO REGAIN PROPER ACCELERATION. THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES OVER A PERIOD OF FOUR MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD AN INTERNAL SHORT. THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE PCM RESET IN ORDER TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,000.

I WAS GOING HOME ON HIGHWAY (65 MPH) AND THE TRAFFIC STARTED TO SLOW DOWN AND SO I PUT ON MY BRAKE AND LOST MY POWER. IT WAS IN LIMP MODE. FORTUNATELY, I WAS IN LOW SPEED LANE AND COULD GET OVER TO THE SIDE OF HIGHWAY AND MANAGED TO PULL OFF. AFTER 5 MINUTES I WAS ABLE TO RESTART CAR AND GET HOME. THE THROTTLE BODY HAD TO BE REPLACED. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN. I FEEL I WAS VERY LUCKY I DID NOT GET SLAMMED INTO AND SOMEONE DID NOT GET HURT. *TR
