Trunk randomly opens while driving. This has now happened 10-15 times over the past couple of years. I was unaware of nhtsa until researching the problem tonight after it most recently happened or I would have reported sooner.
Stopped vehicle at a drive though and put in in park. Afterword would not shift into drive, only in reverse. Had to back all the way through a parking lot to find a safe place to try to park as not to be in the way of other vehicles. Fortunately, at the time no one was parked behind me. after turning off the car, it would not start again and had to have the vehicle towed to a dealership for repair. There is a recall on many Ford vehicles for this exact same issue due to a shift cable bushing, but for some reason not on this particular vehicle. No warning lights appeared before the issue, only after I killed the car and tried to restart it.
While driving the vehicle the vehicle stalls or stops when attempting to shift to either reverse or drive. An alert comes on indicating shifter issues then vehicle was inoperable. Had to call for a wrecker to have it towed due to the issue. Left us stranded in a parking lot away from home. Local certified mechanic advised it was bushings, shifter cable to the transmission that went bad on the vehicle. He said there was a recent recall from Ford, so I contacted Ford by phone. I was told that my vehicle even though it is the exact same recall from Ford issue with my car, my VIN number was not included into the recall by Ford. I'm having to repair my car on my own at my cost.
The shift bushing that attaches the shifter cable to the transmission has degraded then subsequently detached in the past in 2021. In 2022 after the shift bushing was replaced, it has now degraded again (without detaching yet) causing the vehicle to be stuck in reverse or drive after shifting vehicle. This has caused me on multiple occasions to place the vehicle in reverse to backup into the roadway and become stuck without the ability to shift the vehicle out of reverse. The only way to correct it was to turn off the vehicle to force it into park then start the car to place it into drive. This same thing occurred in the previous time before it detached. Being stuck in the roadway without the ability to shift is very dangerous. This is all due to having a 3 dollar shift bushing degrade over time. I hope FORD takes this seriously and replaces this shift bushing with a safer alternative.
When putting into reverse it jolts and shakes and makes a real loud noise and says vehicle and low gear and needs to be stopped (not sure of the exact wording} then when put into drive it does the same thing but not as rough as I try to continue to drive forward there is no power I barely step on the gas and it sounds real rough and loud it seems like it's hot under the hood more than usual I had to diagnose test run it's saying it's the power train system it's eating through all my gas the electrical has been acting weird the last few months but there was no warning signs popping up on my dash until out of nowhere my check light engine came on I called the dealership here in Ogden Utah they stated that my vehicle is outside of the recall time frame but it seems like everyone with a 2017 well actually from the last 10 years there's been issues it seems and it's all the same problem mostly I really don't think I should have to come out of pocket since this is an ongoing issue with Ford and their fusions
Issue with Sync 3. Major concern is the vehicle is equipped with a safety feature if there is an accident. 911 Assist is a SYNC feature that can call for help if you are involved in an accident and are unable to make a call yourself. 911 Assist works with SYNC 3 to alert emergency responders when there is an accident and relays important information such as the type of crash that occurred, the number of seat belts that were being used, and whether an airbag has deployed. The APIM/Sync 3 is malfunctioning on the vehicle where there is no GPS and the phone does not connect. This "safety" feature is useless with the APIM not functioning correctly in the event of an accident. Without GPS, emergency responders would not have a location and without phone connection, this could be a tragic result. The dealer has not not been confirmed or inspected to date as I had to make a service appointment.
Trunk randomly opens. Sometimes the car is started, sometimes itβs not. Happens whether in gear or not.
Got gas and put car in drive and the shift knob went to park automatically . Tried to put car in drive again and same result happened. The picture showed on my dash and I research oned it and found it was the bushing on shift cable had broke. The car was totally disabled from driving. The 2016 fusion had recall on this but I have a 17 and the Ford dealership is not finding a current recall for the bushing my car.
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that a crack had formed over the passengerβs side dashboard which caused the air bag to be exposed. The contact stated that no warning light was illuminated. The contact called the dealer about the failure and was informed that her vehicle was not covered under recall or warranty. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure. The contact was referred to NHTSA for further assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 17,000.
I was in my neighborhood heading to the store at the top the street I heard something like a clunky noise sounded like something fell out the bottom then it stopped immediately after no light or anything on to make me think of any issue with my car it started leaking like something broke kind of a burning smell then it wouldnβt move it would come on shift gears but not move at all itβs now been at Ford since last week they are trying to find the problem I guess seems to me like itβs part of the recall with torque converter they left me a voicemail saying it was a lot of metal and maybe the engine not sure
The contact owns a 2017 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled upon the depression of the accelerator pedal with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer where a mechanic was able to reset the vehicle; however, the failure persisted. The contact was then notified by the dealer that her vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 17V427000 (Power Train). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY SUN ROOF POPPED OUT OF THE CAR. THE GLASS SUN ROOF LITERALLY SNAPPED OFF THE FRAME AND FLEW OUT OF THE CAR.*DT
THERE HAVE BEEN SEVERAL INSTANCES WHERE MY WINDOWS WILL NOT ROLL UP. WHEN I TRY TO ROLL UP THE WINDOW IT AUTOMATICALLY GOES BACK DOWN.
EVEN WHEN TURNING ALL SYSTEMS OFF WHEN SHUTTING THE CAR OFF THE BATTERY WILL DRAIN OVERNIGHT AND WILL NEED TO BE JUMPSTARTED
BACKUP CAMERA ONLY PERFORMS ABOUT 50% OF THE TIME THE IMAGE APPEARS DISTORTED OR NOT SHOW AT ALL WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN REVERSE. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING SINCE JULY 2020. THERE IS NEVER ANY SPECIFIC MOMENTS THAT CAUSE THE CAMERA TO NOT PERFORM SUCH AS TYPE OF ROADS DRIVEN DOWN, THE OUTSIDE TEMPERATURES, WEATHER OR TIME OF DAY, IT IS JUST OCCURS SPORADICALLY.
I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW FUSION 2017 HAVE AROUND 79,500 MILES ON IT NOW IT'S BEEN TWO YEARS. LAST WEEK THE CAR WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON BUT IT WOULD COME OFF AND ON AS I WOULD DRIVE THE CAR WOULD PLOW WHEN ACCELERATION RANDOMLY ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I WOULD BE DRIVING IN THE CITY AND CAME TO A RED LIGHT THE CAR WOULD STALL AND REV BUT WOULDN'T GO SAME WHEN I WOULD BE TURNING SLOWING DOWN IT WOULDN'T GO. IT DOESN'T HAVE COVERAGE ON WARRANTY BECAUSE IT EXCEEDS THE MILES I BOUGHT A NEW CAR SO I WOULDN'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT A TRANSMISSION I'M STILL PAYING THE CAR AND THE DEALERSHIP IS TELLING ME IT COST 5,000 PLUS OTHER FEES FORD MOTOR COMPANY DOESN'T WANT TO PAY FOR A FAULTY TRANSMISSION, THEY SOLD ME A BAD TRANSMISSION!NOW I'M PILED WITH FEES OF RENTAL BECAUSE THEY DON'T EVEN WANT TO GIVE A COURTESY RENTAL ! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
SHIFT SYSTEM FAULT
WHEN VEHICLE WAS IN PARK WHILE CAR RUNNING, DRIVER OPENED THE DOOR AND WAS TOSSED OUT OF THE VEHICLE. CAR SUDDENLY DIS-ENGAGED FROM PARK AND ACCELERATED BACKWARDS CRASHING INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. WHEN DRIVER RETURNED TO VEHICLE THE CAR WAS IN PARK.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY UTILIZING THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL. IT WAS SET TO 55 OR 65. I WENT TO CHANGE FROM THE RIGHT LANE TO THE LEFT LANE AND MY VEHICLE STARTED ACCELERATING QUICKLY. I WAS COMING ON TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC WAY TOO QUICKLY TO AVOID HITTING THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME I HAD TO SWERVE AND HIT THE CEMENT MEDIAN. IT ALL HAPPENED SO QUICKLY I'M NOT SURE IF I WAS EVEN ABLE TO TRY AND HIT THE BRAKES AT ALL. I SEARCHED THE FORD WEBSITE AND HAVEN'T FOUND ANY RECALLS FOR MY VEHICLES YEAR. I THOUGHT I SHOULD REPORT THIS RIGHT AWAY SO OTHER DRIVERS ARE AWARE. THIS IS SECONDARY TO HAVING TO HAVE THE BATTERY REPLACED AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM RESET....AND THE STEERING WHEEL BOLT REPLACED! I WISH I COULD GIVE THIS CAR BACK. SO SCARED TO GET BACK IN IT.
THE SCISSOR JACK FOR THE CAR IS UNSTABLE, WHEN THE CAR WAS JACKED UP TO REMOVE A FLAT RIGHT FRONT TIRE WITH THE PARKING BRAKE SET AND THE CAR WAS ON A LEVEL PAVED PARKING LOT SURFACE, THE JACK ROLLED OVER AND THE CAR FELL ON TO THE TIRE AS IT WAS BEING REMOVED RESULTING IN SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THE FENDER AND INJURY TO MY HAND, I WAS THEN ABLE TO JACK THE CAR BACK UP AND REMOVE THE TIRE AND AGAIN WHILE PUTTING THE SPARE TIRE ON THE JACK ROLLED OVER AGAIN AND THIS TIME THE JACK WAS PINNED UNDER THE CAR AND FORD'S ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WAS CONTACTED TO SEND SOMEONE TO JACK THE CAR UP. THE DEALER SAID THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE JACK OR THE CAR, HOWEVER WHEN I TOOK THE CAR TO A COLLISION SHOP THEY WERE ALL TO FAMILIAR WITH THE PROBLEM.
IT IS TORQUE CONVERTER CONNECTOR THAT SLAMS SUDDENLY AND MAKE THE CAR JERK WHILE IN MOTION NO MATTER WHAT SPEED I AM DOING..THE TORQUE CONVERTER DOES NOT CONNECT THE ENGINE TO THE TRANSMISSION SMOOTHLY .
SICKENING FUMES/ODORS ENTERING MAIN CABIN OF THE CAR, UNLESS THE AIR IS ON RECIRCULATE. FUMES CAUSING HEADACHE, SORE THROAT, RESPIRATORY AND EYE IRRITATION. THE FUMES ARE PRODUCED FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND ENTER THE CAR WHEN IT IS RUNNING AND THE WINDOWS ARE DOWN OR THE AIR CONDITIONER OR HEATER PULL IN OUTSIDE AIR.
EVERY TIME WE DRIVE IN OUR 2017 FUSION, WE BECOME SICK - DISORIENTED, HEADACHES, COUGHING, NAUSEA, DIFFICULTY THINKING. THERE IS A TERRIBLE ODOR/EXHAUST ENTERING THE PASSENGER CABIN WHEN WE DRIVE. YOU CAN EVEN SMELL IT OUTSIDE OF THE THE CAR AFTER IT HAS BEEN PARKED. I'VE BROUGHT THE ISSUE UP TO THE DEALER I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM MORE THAN ONCE. THE FIRST TIME, THEY HOSED DOWN THE ENGINE. THE SECOND TIME THEY CAN'T REPRODUCE IT, HOWEVER, IT IS NOTICEABLE EVERY TIME THIS CAR IS DRIVEN - COLD AND WARM WEATHER... THIS HAPPENS ANYTIME THE CAR IS ON, DRIVING, IDLING, STREET, HIGHWAY. THERE IS NO EXCEPTION THAT I HAVE NOTICED.
