SWE PURCHASED OUR 1999 FORD MUSTANG GT NEW AND A 25K MILES YHE REAR END DIFFERENTIAL WAS MAKING A LOT OF NOISE. FORD REPLACED THE ENTIRE THIRD MEMBER UNIT AND ALL CARRIER BEARINGS. AT 35K MILES THE ISSUE REOCCUED AND THIS TIME WE TOOK THE CAR TO A DIIFERENTIAL SPECIALIST WHO SAID THE CARRIER BEARINGS ON ONE SIDE WERE COMPLETELY GONE AND REPLACED THEM. THEN AT 45K MILES THE SEME ISSUE DEVELOPED AND WE TOOK IT BACK TO THE DIFFERENTIAL EXPERT. HE COULD NOT UBDERSTAND THE FAILUER AND UPON FURTHER ANALYSIS DETERMINED THE THE DIFFERENTIAL HOUSING WAS BENT AND HIS VIEW WAS THAT IST WAS MANUFACTURED THAT WAY OR IT BENT I=ON THE DELIVERY RIDE TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DIFF HOUSING WAS PROFESSIONALLY STRAIGTENED AND NOW THE CAR HAS 95K MILES ON IT AND NO FURTHER PROBLEM. WE WROTE FORD ABOUT THIS AND NEVER RECEIEVED A REPLY. *TR
VEHICLE IS 1999 FORD MUSTANG, 3.8 LITER ENGINE WITH 5-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION. DEALER REPLACED CLUTCH,THROWOUT BEARING AND PRESSURE PLATE AT APPROX. 2000 MILES FOR ORIGINAL OWNER. DEALER DID SAME WORK FOR MYSELF (2ND OWNER) AT APPROX. 20,000 MILES. CAR NOW HAS 54000 MILES AND CLUTCH WORK IS AGAIN NEEDED. I HAVE OWNED MANY FORDS WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS AND NEVER HAD A CLUTCH LAST LESS THAN 100,000 MILES, SO MY DRIVING STYLE CAN'T BE THE PROBLEM. *JB
I HAD A HARD TIME SHIFTING SO I BROUGHT IT IN FOR A CHECK AND AN INDEPENDENT SERVICE FOUND THIS WRONG: INPUT SHAFT RETAINER...I ALSO NEED MY CLUTCH REPLACED BECAUSE OF THE DAMAGE CAUSED BY THIS.*AK MY CAR ONLY HAD AROUND 25,000 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME. THE SERVICE PERSON TOLD ME THAT THIS PART WAS INSTALLED WRONG AND HUMAN ERROR CAUSED THE PROBLEM. MY BILL WAS $751.12 AND I CONTACTED FORD ABOUT THIS AND THEY TOLD ME BASICALLY TOUGH LUCK. THERE IS NO WAY A TRANSMISSION SHOULD GO BAD AT 25,000 MILES. CAN YOU LOOK INTO THIS FOR ME? I STILL HAVE THE BAD PART AND YOU CAN SEE THE DAMAGE THAT WAS MADE TO THIS PART. THANKS

96 COBRA, I HAVE HAD THE TRANSMISSION EITHER WORKED ON OR REPLACED 6 TIMES. IT WENT IN THE SHOP FOR IT'S SECOND NEW TRANSMISSION AND IT TOOK TWO TRANSMISSIONS BEFORE I GOT IT BACK. FROM TALKING WITH OTHER OWNERS THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM IN THE COBRA'S WITH THE T-45 TRANSMISSION. *JB
1999 MUSTANG WITH 58,000 MILES. HAD MULTIPLE PREMATURE FAILURE OF REAR AXLE BEARINGS. ALL BEARINGS,CONES, AND CUPS REPLACED.*AK
WHILE DRIVING TRANSMISSION WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO HIGHER GEAR, AND THERE WAS A WHINING NOISE. CONSUMER SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL. THEN, TRIED TO SHIFT AGAIN. IT TOOK 30 MINUTES BEFORE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO SHIFT INTO DRIVE. DEALER DETERMINED TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.*AK
TRANSMISSION IS MAKING A LOUD HUMMIMG NOISE WHILE DRIVING. DEALER CONTACTED. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
PREMATURE WEAR ON CLUTCH PLATE. *AK
WAS DRIVING VEHICLE STARTED TO VIBRATE SEVERELY. ARRIVED HOME AND JACKED VEHICLE UP, NOTICED DRIVESHAFT BOLTS ATTACHED TO REAR HOUSING WERE ABOUT TO COME OFF. THIS PROBLEM COULD HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT IF NOT CAUGHT IN TIME.*AK
TWO CERTIFIED FORD DELAERS, AS WELL AS TWO INDEPENDENT MECHANICS HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM. ALL FOUR CONCUR THE PROBLEM IS THERE, BUT NONE ARE SURE HOW TO FIX IT. FORD HAS BEEN NOTIFIED, AND AS OF THIS DATE, HAS GONE MORE THAN ONE WEEK WITHOUT RESPONDING TO COMPLAINTS THROUGH THEIR WEB SITE.NO SUMMARY LISTED FOR ABOVE VEHICLE. *AK
TRACTION CONTROL HAD TO BE REPLACED. ALSO, AXLE WAS DEFECTIVE, IT SHUT DOWN, CAUSING VEHICLE TO LOSE ALL POWER. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *AK
TRANSMISSION HAS BEEN SLIPPING INTERMITTENTLY. RPM'S WILL NOT GO DOWN IMMEDIATLY AFTER IT SHIFTS TO HIGHER GEAR. CALLED DEALER, AND WAS TOLD UNLESS THEY COULD REPRODUCE THIS NOTHING WOULD BE DONE. *AK
WHILE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK AND RUNNING CONSUMER WAS OUTSIDE OF CAR, WALKED DOWN DRIVEWAY TO OPEN GATE AND CONSUMER HEARD A POP, AND VEHICLE STARTED TO ROLL DOWN PARKING LOT. CONSUMER HAD TO DIVE INSIDE TO SET EMERGENCY BRAKE.*AK
WHILE DRIVING ALONG AT ANY SPEED VEHICLE STALLED . THIS HAPPENED MORE DURING STOPPING. WHEN VEHICLE STALLED, ALL POWER WAS LOST, WHICH MADE IT VERY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL VEHICLE. VEHICLE HAS BEEN CHECKED BY THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS PROBLEM. DEALER WAS NOT ABLE TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHEN PARKING, VEHICLE ROLLED BACK WHEN GEARSHIFT IN PARK POSITION. VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ROLL BACK AFTER STOPPING AND PUTTING GEARSHIFT IN DRIVE. AFTER TOW AND REPAIR OWNER TOLD THE CABLE HAD BECOME DISCONNECTED BETWEEN THE GEARSHIFT AND TRANSMISSION. IT WAS REATTACHED AND SECURITY STRAP PUT IN PLACE. DEALER REPORTED NO KNOWLEDGE OF WHY IT BECAME DISCONNECTED.
I HAD A NEW RING AND PINION GEAR INSTALLED. UPON DISASSEMBLY OF THE DIFFERENTIAL IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE CARRIER BEARINGS WERE WORN OUT, AND HAD EXPERIENCED EXCESSIVE OVERHEATING. I AM LUCKY IT WAS DISCOVERED BEFORE IT FROZE UP.
THIS IS THE THIRD PRESSURE PLATE REPLACEMENT THAT HAS BEEN PUT INTO THIS CAR. I NOW HAVE A ONE OF A KIND HAND BUILT PRESSURE PLATE BECAUSE THE FACTORY COULD NOT FIND A PLATE THAT FELL WITHIN THE FACTORY TOLERANCES. DURING THE CURRENT TIME AT THE DEALERSHIP ( APPROXIMATELY 3 1/2 WEEKS NOW) THE DEALER COULD NOT GET THE CAR INTO GEAR AND STATED THAT THE SHIFTING FORKS WERE PROBABLY BENT ANF NOT LETTING THE CAR SHIFT PLUS THE PRESSURE PLATE ISSUE. *AK
SPIDER GEAR NOT INSTALLED PROPERLY IN REAR, IT WAS LOOSE DURING TEST DRIVE CAUSING IT TO GET CAUGHT ON OTHER GEARS NOT ALLOWING THE VEHICLE TO GO FASTER THAN 30 MPH.
