WHILE BACKING INTO MY GARAGE, FOOT ON BRAKE, SHIFTED INTO REVERSE, CAR TOOK OFF FULL THROTTLE. HIT WALL OF GARAGE BOUNCED OFF WALL HIT CONCRETE RETAINING WALL. DAMAGE TO PASSENGER SIDE BACK QTR PANEL, REAR END AND BUCKLED THE DRIVER SIDE. DAMAGES EST OVER $6000.00. TOOK BACK TO FORD AND THEY SAID FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH VEHICLE. *NM
I WAS DRIVING 30-35 MILES ON A BUSY STREET (OVER PASS) IN A 2005 FORD MUSTANG WITH MY WIFE. THE CAR WENT CRAZY UNINTENDED SUDDEN ACCELERATION WITH A FRIGHTENING NOISE. I TRIED DESPERATELY TO STOP THE CAR BY BRAKING HARD AND MEANTIME TO AVOID THE CARS AHEAD AND OPPOSITE COMING CARS. THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP. I APPLIED HAND BRAKE ,THAT DID NOT HELP EITHER ONLY TO LEAVE HEAVY SKID MARK AND THE CAR TO SPIN ONCE THANKFULLY IN A CORNER OF A THREE WAY ROAD,AT THAT STAGE I TRIED TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK POSITION ,BUT THE SECOND THE GEAR REACHED THE REVERSE MARK THE CAR WENT FULL SPEED BACKWARDS CROSSING THE BUSY NORDHOFF WAY HITTING A POLE AND FIRE PUMP AND WITH CAR TIRES SPINNING AT FULL SPEED AT THE MOMENT I MANAGED TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK POSITION AND TURN OFF THE ENGINE. LUCKILY NOTHING SERIOUS HAPPENED TO ME AND MY WIFE AND NO CAR OR OTHER PERSON .THANKS TO GOD. HOW.? I DON'T KNOW ,SOMEONE UP THERE MUST HAVE TAKEN CARE OF US AND THE OTHERS BECAUSE THIS STREET IS NEAR A SHOPPING MALL AND THE DAY WAS SATURDAY 15 APRIL AND TIM WAS 1 PM AFTERNOON. THE POLICE AND FIRE TEAM GOT THERE IMMEDIATELY AND THERE IS A POLICE REPORT OF THE INCIDENT. I HAVE HARD TIME TO CONVINCE INSURANCE ALLSTATE AND FORD DEALERS TO ASSIGN AN ENGINEER TO LOOK INTO THE MATTER. I NEED YOUR ADVISE PLEASE. W E ARE EMOTIONALLY DISTURBED . *JB
1ST TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS GOING ABOUT 45 MPH AND AS I WAS ACCELERATING TO PASS, THE CAR JUST KEPT ACCELERATING BY IT SELF, I THEN BEGAN TO TAP THE GAS PEDAL WITH MY FOOT AND AS I GOT CLOSER TO THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME I HAD TO BRAKE AND PUT THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL,WHILE IN NEUTRAL THE VEHICLE IDLE RETURNED TO NORMAL. I THEN WENT HOME AND AT THIS POINT BELIEVING IT WAS POSSIBLY BEING CAUSED BY THE FLOOR MAT I REMOVED SAME. THE 2ND TIME I HAD JUST MADE A RIGHT TURN AND GAVE IT A LITTLE GAS WHEN THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN, AS I APPLIED THE BRAKE THE VEHICLE DID A 180. WHILE I HOLDING THE BRAKE DOWN THE REAR WHEELS BEGAN TO SPIN, I WAS THEN ABLE TO PUT THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL AND TURN IT OFF. WHEN RESTARTED IT WAS BACK TO NORMAL. I THEN TOOK IT TO A FORD DEALER THE NEXT DAY, THEY HOWEVER WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM DURING THE TWO DAYS THEY HAD IT, THUS NO REPAIRS WERE DONE , I WAS TOLD TO COME BACK IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN, I WAS ALSO TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT THEY CONTACTED FORD AND THAT THEY HAD NO OTHER COMPLAINTS LIKE THIS. I THEN CONTACTED FORD MOTOR CO. AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN DO, AND WHEN ASKED IF THEY COULD REPLACE ANY PARTS THAT COULD CAUSE THIS PROBLEM DUE TO THE EXTREME DANGER OF THIS PROBLEM THEY REFUSED. JANUARY 3, 2006 THE DRIVER WAS TRAVELING NORTH ON I-24 (NASHVILLE, TN.). THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS ON! SHE PREPARED TO TURN OFF I-24, AT HAYWOOD LANE EXIT, SHE APPLIED BRAKES. THE CAR FIRST SLOWED DOWN TO 40 MPH. THEN ACCELERATED/SPED UP. THE CAR WAS EXITED THE HIGHWAY AT GREAT SPEED. THE DRIVER BRAKED AGAIN, THE CAR SLOWED DOWN A LITTLE. THE CAR IMMEDIATELY SPED UP, WITH SUCH FORCE THE DRIVER WAS THROWN TO THE BACK OF HER SEAT. PRESSING THE BRAKES NOW HAD NO EFFECT. THE CONSUMER CLEARED THE EXIT LANE ONTO HAYWOOD, THE CAR WAS STILL SPEEDING. THE DRIVER FACED NO CROSS TRAFFIC AT THE INTERSECTION OF HAYWOOD LANE/ANTIOCH PIKE ( INTERSECTION-HAYWOOD THE I AND ANTIOCH PIKE THE TOP OF THE T). THE DRIVER CAR WAS STOPPED BY RUNNING INTO A CAR AND A VAN AT A GAS STATION. THE VEHICLES WERE SPUN AROUND AND HIT THE GAS STATION AT THE T. THE DRIVER HAS DRIVEN THIS HIGHWAY TURN OFF AND INTERSECTION OVER 23 YEARS. SHE HAS BEEN DRIVING THIS MAKE AND TYPE OF MUSTANG FOR SEVERAL YEARS. SHE HAS OWNED 5 MUSTANGS. THE DRIVER WAS TRANSPORTED TO HOSPITAL BY AMBULANCE. WITH A BROKEN NOSE, BROKEN FOOT (RIGHT WHERE THE FOOT WAS POSITIONED OVER THE BRAKE), CRACKED RIBS, BRUISED AND LACERATED FACE/ LEGS. AFTER A HOSPITAL STAY AND FOLLOW-UP VISITS BEFORE BEING ABLE TO RETURN TO WORK. FORD CONSUMER AFFAIRS WAS CONTACTED AND THEY DID A TELEPHONE INTERVIEW OF THE ABOVE FACTORS. QUESTIONS SEEMED TO BE AIMED AT DETERMINING IF AN ELECTRONIC MALFUNCTION HAD OCCURRED. THE QUESTIONER MAY HAVE BEEN READING FROM A CHECKLIST. LATER, WE RECEIVED A LETTER FROM FORD DEMANDING ALL SORTS OF INFORMATION. THIS WAS FORWARDED TO FORD. ABOUT 1 MONTH LATER, WE RECEIVED A CURT TWO LINE LETTER INDICATING "WE ARE UNABLE TO OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE AT THIS TIME". OUR INSURANCE COMPANY ELECTED TO TRY TO PERFORM A CRASH ANALYSIS. WE APPRISED THEM OF THE SIMILAR CRUISE CONTROL ON THIS WEBSITE AND PROVIDED INFORMATION ON "ROGUE SIGNALS" AND OTHER DATA CONCERNING THIS EVENT. RESULTS PENDING.
I WAS FULLY STOPPED AND WAS PARKING MY CAR. MADE A LEFT TURN AND CAME TO FULL STOP. TRYING TO SEE THAT IF I HAD ENOUGH SPACE TO CLEAR PARKED CAR ON LEFT RELEASED BRAKE PEDAL AND CAR TOOK OFF AT THE SPEEDS OF 3 TO 5 MPH HITTING THE PARKED TRUCKED ON THE RIGHT. *JB
DT: WHILE BACKING CAR INTO GARAGE VEHICLE WAS IN REVERSE. CONSUMER HAD TO PUT IT IN DRIVE TO MOVE FORWARD A BIT WITH FOOT ON THE BRAKE AT THE TIME. WITH SLIGHT BRAKE PRESSURE AND EASE THE ENGINE REVVED AND LUNGED FORWARD AND STRUCK THE RIGHT SIDE ON DRIVER'S SIDE MIRROR INTO THE SIDE THE GARAGE WHEN THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED FORWARD. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO GET CONTROL OF VEHICLE BY SLAMMING ON THE BRAKES AND PUTTING IGNITION INTO PARK WHICH STOPPED THE ACCELERATION. HAD TOWED TO A FORD DEALER, WHO DID A DIAGNOSTICS CHECK WHICH REPORTED NO CODES OR FAILURES. THE CAR WAS IN DEALER 2 DAYS WITH NO REPAIRS, NO PROBLEMS WERE FOUND. WOULD NOT FIX MIRROR BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE A PROBLEM. THIS WAS THE FIRST AND ONLY INCIDENT.*AK
I PURCHASED A 2005 MUSTANG ON JUNE 17, 2005. ON JULY 6, 2005, WHILE IN TRAFFIC I NOTICED IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC THE CAR WAS ACCELERATING WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN DECELERATING. I ACTUALLY SMELLED RUBBER BURNING FROM THE TIRES THAT WERE STILL MOVING ALTHOUGH THE BREAK WAS PRESSED. WHEN I BEGAN TO ACCELERATE, THE CAR ACTED AS IF IT WAS IN NEUTRAL AND WOULD NOT MOVE FOR APPROXIMATELY 4 TO 5 SECONDS, BUT THE ENGINE REVELED UP HIGH THEN THE CAR JERKED AND ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. ON JULY 8, 2005 WHILE STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN THE CAR ACCELERATED WHEN IT SHOULD HAVE DECELERATED CAUSING THE TIRES TO CONTINUE TO TURN, ONCE AGAIN I SMELLED THE RUBBER BURNING FROM THE TIRE. ON JUNE 11, 2005, CAR ACCELERATED WHEN STOPPING. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO AUTOMAX FORD, EXPLAINED WHAT WAS HAPPENING, TOOK REPAIR OFFICE ATTENDANT FOR A TEST DRIVE, PROBLEM DID NOT HAPPEN DURING THE TEST DRIVE. ATTENDANT SAID IF IT HAPPENS AGAIN BRING IT IN. ON JULY 12, 2005, ACCELERATED AT STOP SIGN, WHEN TRIED TO ACCELERATE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE, THEN KICKED INTO GEAR AFTER 4 TO 5 SECONDS ACCELERATED HIGH AND SPED OFF. JULY 13, 2005, ACCELERATED WHEN STOPED, JULY 14, 2005, WHEN STOPPED AND STARTED CAR WOULD NOT MOVE WHEN ACCELERATED. CALLED AUTOMAX FORD SPOKE WITH SAME REPAIR ATTENDANT, VOICED MY CONCERN OF BEING AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR. I HAVE KIDS AND THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE. ASKED ATTENDANT FOR A LOANER CAR BECASUE I HAVE NO OTHER TRANSPORTATION AND HE SAID HE WILL CALL ME WHEN A LOANER CAR IS AVAILABLE. PLEADED WITH HIM NOT TO FORGET ABOUT ME AND HOW AFRAID I WAS TO DRIVE THE CAR. I HAVEN'T MADE THE FIRST PAYMENT ON THIS CAR AND IT IS CAUSING PROBLEMS FOR ME.

CAR WAS COMPLETELY STOPPED AND CAR ACCELERATED TO 60 MPH AND OWNER HAD TO PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL AND KICKED THE GAS PEDAL UNTIL THE RPM'S CAME DOWN TO NORMAL. THEN IT WAS TAKEN TO DEALER WHO REPORTED NO PROBLEM. THEN ABOUT THREE WEEKS LATER ON INTERSTATE, OWNER WAS GOING ABOUT 60 AND THE CAR ACCELERATED TO 80 MPH. THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO DEALER AGAIN, AND THE DEALER PUT ON A BLACK BOX TO RECORD EVENTS. THE OWNERS ARE AFRAID TO DRIVE IT BECAUSE THEY ARE UNABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT IS WRONG OR HAVE IT REPAIRED. THE PROBLEM IS INTERMINTENT.
WHILE PULLING INTO A GARAGE, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL BECAME STUCK, AND THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED THROUGH THE GARAGE WALL INTO THE KITCHEN. THE CONSUMERS DAUGHTER HAD TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO PARK TO STOP IT. THE CONSUMERS WIFE SUSTAINED INJURIES, AND WAS TRANSPORTED TO A LOCAL HOSPITAL. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED.*AK *JB
