TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT LOCATED SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ONLINE FOR HIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V025000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:SWITCH) AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION TO DETERMINE IF HIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE WAS AFFECTED BY THE RECALL. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH DID IN FACT NEED REPLACING HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED BY THE MANUFACTURER THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL CAMPAIGN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 960,000.

INTERMITTENT IGNITION SWITCH FUNCTION. *KB
I AM ABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM MY IGNITION WHEN MY CAR IS IN GEAR. I HAVE CHECKED THE NHTSA DATABASE AND THIS IS A RECALL ISSUE ON 2000 HONDA ACCORDS (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 05V025000 ). I WENT TO HONDA AND SPOKE WITH THE CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY WILL DO FOR ME AS MY CAR'S VIN NUMBER IS NOT ASSOCIATED WITH THIS RECALL. I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE MY CAR'S VIN ADDED TO THE RECALL LIST, AS IT IS EXHIBITING THE RECALL SYMPTOMS AND NEEDS TO BE FIXED. *TR

THERE WAS A RECALL RELATED TO THE DEFECT UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 05V025000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:IGNITION:SWITCH). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AFTER THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE ABOVE INFORMATION WAS FROM THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT, HOWEVER THIS PROBLEM HAS EXISTED FOR SEVERAL YEARS. MY WIFE HAS TOLD ME ABOUT THE PROBLEM WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH THAT ALLOWS THIS CAR TO HAVE THE KEYS REMOVED WHILE THE CAR IS IN DRIVE AND THE ENGINE IS OFF (NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PEO5002). SHE CONTACTED HONDA WHILE IN ORLANDO FL BUT THEY SAID THE RECALL WAS NOT FOR HER VIN. THIS IS STILL PROBLEM AND I CONTACTED HONDA TODAY AND WAS TOLD I COULD HAVE IT FIXED BUT WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT. I AM NOT SURE BUT I BELIEVE THIS CAR SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL IF THE PROBLEM EXISTS ON IT. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT I HAVE TO DO SO HONDA WILL COMPLY WITH THEIR RECALL.
I OWN A 2000 HONDA ACCORD THAT I PURCHASED BRAND NEW. THE CAR HAS BEEN SHUTTING DOWN WHILE I AM ON THE ROAD WITH NO WARNING. THIS HAPPENS AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS. ALSO WHEN I PULL OVER THE ENGINE WILL START IMMEDIATELY, BUT NOW IT IS HARD TO START AND WILL STALL IMMEDIATELY AFTER STARTING IT. I TOOK MY CAR TO DEALER ON 6/7/11. THE DEALERSHIP HAD MY CAR UNTIL JUNE 9, 2011, BUT SAID THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. SO FAR I HAVE BEEN LUCKY THAT NOBODY HAS BEEN BEHIND ME WHEN THE CAR HAS DIED. I CALLED THE DEALER AGAIN ON 6/18/11 AND SPOKE WITH ANITA, WHO MADE IT SEEM LIKE I WAS CRAZY. SHE SAID THEY WOULD HAVE CHECKED FOR ANY OPEN RECALLS. I LOOKED ON LINE AND I FOUND THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR OTHER HONDA OWNERS. MY CAR HAS 103,000 MILES, AND THIS STARTED HAPPENING IN FEBRUARY, BUT IS OCCURRING MORE FREQUENTLY. I DID SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND OUT THAT YOU INVESTIGATED THIS UNDER CAMPAIGN NUMBER 02V120000 BUT I DIDNT SEE THAT 2000 ACCORDS WERE INCLUDED IN THIS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT ALL OF THE GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENTAL PANEL DECREASED TO ZERO INCLUDING THE ENGINE SPEED, FUEL LEVEL, WATER TEMPERATURE, AND TRIP ODOMETER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING A SERVICE APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER SINCE THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,250. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST THAT LOCATED THE FAILURE IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE WAS ABLE TO REMOVE FROM THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT IN THE PARK POSITION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY WILL NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR, BECAUSE THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL 05V025000 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: IGNITION: SWITCH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 164,200.

THERE WERE NO DIAGNOSTIC TEST PERFORMED OR REPAIRS MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 200,000.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE WITH THE GEAR SELECTOR SHIFTED INTO THE "DRIVE" POSITION; AND UNEXPECTEDLY THE IGNITION KEY RELEASED FROM THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE IGNITION SWITCH INTERLOCK WAS REPLACED. THE IDENTICAL FAILURE RECURRED SIX TO EIGHT YEARS LATER AND THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED FOR THE SECOND TIME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER 05V025000 FOR THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM DEALING WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH THAT WAS IDENTICAL TO THE FAILURE; HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 150,000.

THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS BUT WAS STOPPED BY A CEMENT BRICK IN A PARKING LOT. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE WERE NO RELATED RECALLS. THE MANUFACTURER REFERRED HIM TO NHTSA. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. I WAS DRIVING MY 2000 HONDA ACCORD COUPE 6 CYLINDERS THE OTHER DAY ON THE HIGHWAY DOING ABOUT 55 MPH WHEN THE ENGINE FOR NO APPARENT REASON JUST QUIT AND LOST ALL POWER AND WOULD NOT START RIGHT AWAY AFTER ABOUT AN HOUR IT FINALLY DID START A GAIN AND RAN FINE. *TR
AFTER I REMOVED MY KEY FROM THE IGNITION AND WAS GETTING OUT, I NOTICED THAT THE CAR STARTED TO ROLL. I THEN REALIZED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS STILL IN DRIVE. I CHECKED FOR RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE AND FOUND RECALL FITTING THIS DESCRIPTION AND FOR MY MAKE MODEL AND YEAR. NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE05002. THIS PROBLEM IS REPEATABLE. I CALLED HONDA AT 1-800-999-1009 AND WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL.. WE TOOK THE CAR TO MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER, WHO CONFIRMED THE PROBLEM AND ALSO TOLD ME THAT THE RECALL DID NOT MATCH MY VIN. DEALERSHIP IS ED NAPLETON HONDA 636-928-1155. INVOICE # 227162. ESTIMATE $596.00 PLUS TAXES. WE PURCHASED THIS CAR NEW ON AUGUST 16, 1999 AND THIS IS AN EARLY 2000 HONDA ACCORD. WE FEEL THAT THIS CAR SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL PROGRAM. PLEASE ADVISE. THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID BEGAN SPURTING FOLLOWED BY A SIZZLING SOUND. THE NOISE DISAPPEARED WHEN THE VEHICLE LIGHTS WERE TURNED OFF. THE LIGHT ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WAS NOT WORKING WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED. THE DEALER STATED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN RECALL 04V256000 WAS RELATED TO THE INTERIOR LIGHTING ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE ISSUE AT HAND INVOLVES A 2000 HONDA ACCORD (COUPE); I AM ABLE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION WITHOUT PUTTING THE CAR INTO PARK. I AM NOT SURE OF WHEN THIS ISSUE BEGAN. HOWEVER, IN MID-2008, I MISTAKENLY LEFT THE CAR IN DRIVE AND REMOVED THE KEY WHEN PARKING MY CAR IN A PARKING LOT, I LEFT THE PARKING LOT AND MY CAR PROCEEDED TO ROLL BACKWARD AND STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE AT SOME POINT. THIS HAPPENED AGAIN THIS MONTH. AFTER THIS POINT, I RESEARCHED RECALL INFORMATION AND SAW THAT IN 2005, NHTSA ISSUED CAMPAIGN 05V025000. I TOOK MY CAR INTO A DEALER TO HAVE THE ISSUE INVESTIGATED. MY VEHICLE DID INDEED HAVE THE SAME ISSUE (MALFUNCTIONING INTERLOCK) AS THE ONE IN THE RECALL, BUT MY VIN WAS NOT A PART OF THAT RECALL. IT SEEMS ODD TO ME THAT THOUGH MY CAR FALLS INTO THE DATE RANGE, MAKE AND MODEL OF THIS RECALL AND POSSESSES THE SAME ISSUE DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL. I AM NOT CONVINCED THAT THIS IS A COINCIDENCE. I AM IN DANGER OF LOSING COVERAGE AS A RESULT OF THIS MALFUNCTION. *TR
