The contact owns a 2001 Honda Accord. The contact purchased the vehicle and was provided a copy of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V182000 (AIR BAGS) by the original owner of the vehicle. The local dealer was contacted; however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The dealer refused to release the vehicle because of a "Do not Drive" warning on the vehicle. The contact had to sign a release form to retrieve the vehicle. The contact stated that the dealer deactivated the front driver’s side air bag. The contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated and remained illuminated. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure.
Dealer has falsely stated that past airbag recall work was completed. The timeframe they gave of completion is incorrect. We owned the car during the timeframe they said the repairs were done, but they were not done. We had a mechanic from Honda call use around the stated time (years ago, I cant recall specifically, dealer has the info), but the mechanic never came yet marked the work as completed. I asked the dealer and they ran a report and said wok was done. I'm basically driving a ticking time bomb.
The SRS light comes on and once cleared/reset it will typically return after 2-4 trips. it was confirmed when the car when air bags were checked for recalls. This first appeared in 2018 with airbag recalls. It became a recurring issue in 2021 when after each reset it would return. The reset would last months and when the battery was drained it might reappear. In 2024 Jan. the reset and light return cycle become more consistent with it returning within 2-4 trips.
The airbags did not deploy during a side impact accident. A state state trooper investigated the accident.
Recalled airbags
NHTSA said owners of certain Honda Accords should not be driven since airbags could explode and be fatal to the driver. We are not allowed to drive them until it is fixed.
I was driving down the road at about 45mph and the passenger side seat airbag deployed scared me causing me to pull steri g wheel just a little hitting a curb and causing my tire to blow out and destroy the fender well and pull the trim on door panel off along with cracking my front bumper my car was in amazing condition only had 75k miles stated parked in garage now it's trashed out all because the air bag went off for no reason my daughter was in back seat right behind passenger seat and white dusty stuff flew all over her please fix this before it kills someone thanks I love my Honda but will never get in another one scared for my life please fix
The airbags failed to provide me protection during an accident on a highway. 1. Airbag was size of steering wheel, both popped upon deploying, didn't protect me from hitting and shattering windshield with my head, seatbelt help me from flying thru windshield , without protection from airbag both hands and wrists are brused in braces.. I been off work for 9 days now 2 visits to ER .. I believe the airbags mafunctioned.. my car is in Inland towing riverside ca. A highway patrol was present unknown if report was made , it's not letting me upload files and fotos

THE VIN NUMBER LISTS THIS CAR AS A 2001 HONDA ACCORD COUPES. THERE ARE 17 OPEN RECALLS FOR 2001 HONDA ACCORD 2 DR BASED ON SAFECAR.GOV. THERE ARE 4 OPEN RECALLS FOR 2001 HONDA ACCORD COUPES BASED ON THE HONDA RECALL SITE. FOR SOME REASON NONE OF THESE RECALLS ARE SHOWING UP AS APPLICABLE TO THIS VEHICLE BASED ON THE VIN NUMBER EVEN THOUGH IT IS A 2001 HONDA ACCORD COUPE. I BELIEVE THIS IS THE RESULT OF AN OVERSIGHT OR AN ERROR THAT CAN HAVE POTENTIALLY DEADLY CONSEQUENCES IF IT MEANS THAT VEHICLES THAT SHOULD BE IN THE RECALL ARE NOT BEING INCLUDED. *TR
HAD RECALL INSTALL DONE LAST SUMMER. NOR ARE LIGHT CAME ON.
