WE ARE A FIRST TIME HONDA CAR OWNER. WE PURCHASED OUR HONDA ACCORD LX AFTER EXTENSIVE RESEARCH WHICH INCLUDED CONSUMER REPORTS. AT APPROXIMATELY 18K MILES, WE WERE INFORMED BY THE HONDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT OUR BACK BRAKES WERE DOWN TO 10% REMAINING ON THE REAR BRAKE PADS. AT 23K MILES, THE HONDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT ADVISED THAT THE BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I COMPLAINED TO NO AVAIL TO THE DEALERSHIP AND TO HONDA AMERICA WHO ADVISED THAT THEY STAND BY THE ENGINEERING AND WORKMANSHIP OF THEIR PRODUCT AND THIS IS A NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ITEM. OUR DRIVING HABITS ARE DAYTIME HIGHWAY MILES AND FOR REAR BRAKE PADS TO WORN OUT AT 23K IS RIDICULOUS AND NON-STANDARD FOR THE AUTO INDUSTRY. WE OWN A 2000 INFINITY I30 WHICH REQUIRED ITS FIRST BRAKE PAD REPLACEMENT AT 110K MILES, (ACTUAL NEED, NOT MANUFACTURES RECOMMENDATION). HONDA HAS A GOOD REPUTATION FOR PRODUCING QUALITY PRODUCTS; I HOPE THEY WILL SEIZE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO BUILD BRAND LOYALTY BY DOING WHAT IS RIGHT FOR THE OWNERS OF THEIR 2008 MODEL YEAR HONDA ACCORD. IF NOT, I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER HONDA MANUFACTURED PRODUCT. *TR
I HAVE A 2008 HONDA ACCORD EX SEDAN WITH AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. THE REAR DISC BRAKE PADS WORE OUT BEFORE 28,000 MILES & HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE HONDA DEALER STATED THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH MANY ACCORDS & AT THIS TIME HONDA HAS NO INFORMATION WHEN OR IF A REDESIGN OF THE REAR PADS IS BEING CONSIDERED. THIS IS NOT A WARRANTY COVERED ISSUE & OWNERS PAY FULL COST TO REPLACE THE PADS. THE SERVICING HONDA DEALER STATED THAT MORE FREQUENT BRAKE INSPECTIONS SHOULD BE DONE THAN WHAT MAY BE CONSIDERED NORMAL. *TR
AT 15,580 MILES THE REAR BRAKE PADS ON MY 2008 HONDA ACCORD EXL V-6 SEDAN WERE WORN DOWN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE FRONT PADS ARE FINE. I HAVE DRIVEN VARIOUS OTHER VEHICLES AND HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS AFTER SO SHORT OF A MILEAGE. THE SERVICE CONSULTANT AT MY HONDA DEALER SHOWED MY THE PAD AND THEY ARE VERY SMALL. I WAS INFORMED BY MY HONDA DEALER THAT THE PADS ARE TOO SMALL AND THEY ARE WEARING OUT FASTER. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A DEFECT IN THE DESIGN AND I HAVE ALSO FILED A COMPLAINT WITH AMERICAN HONDA. I WOULD NEVER HAVE CHECKED MY PADS SO EARLY HAD I NOT BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP. THIS IS POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE AS WELL. I WAS LUCKY AND CAUGHT THE PROBLEM BEFORE AN ACCIDENT, BUT BRAKE PADS SHOULD NOT NEED TO REPLACED ON A 1- YEAR OLD CAR WITH THIS LOW OF MILEAGE. *TR
SQUEALING NOISE FROM REAR BRAKES AFTER 26,000 MILES. INSIDE REAR PADS EXCESSIVELY WORN. *TR
2008 HONDA ACCORD, 4 DOOR, V6 - PREMATURE BRAKE WEAR. THE REAR BRAKE PADS ON MY CAR ARE NOW NEEDING REPLACEMENT AT ONLY 12,500 MILES. I HAVE CALLED AMERICAN HONDA AND THEY SAY THIS IS ONLY A MAINTENANCE ITEM AND NOT CURRENTLY A RECALL OR WARRANTY REPAIR ITEM. WITH BRAKE PADS WEARING THIS QUICKLY PEOPLE WILL NOT BE ABLE OR WILLING TO PAY FOR REPLACEMENT/REPAIR ON A TIMELY BASIS. THIS WILL LEAD TO THESE CARS BEING ON THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT ADEQUATE BRAKES. MY WIFE AND I ARE EXPERIENCED DRIVERS AND HAVE OWNED HONDA VEHICLES FOR 25+ YEARS. WE HAVE NEVER HAD THIS TYPE OF PREMATURE BRAKE WEAR WITH HONDA OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF VEHICLE. THE MAJOR ISSUE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR THESE CARS TO BE ON THE HIGHWAY WITH INADEQUATE BRAKES. THE INCONVENIENCE AND TREMENDOUS COST OF REPLACING BRAKE PADS THIS FREQUENTLY WILL LEAD TO THIS SITUATION. THIS IS A FINANCIAL HARDSHIP THAT MAY LEAD TO A DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR CONSUMERS. *TR
I PURCHASED A 2008 HONDA ACCORD IN MAY OF 2008, AND WITH 18,000 MILES I ALREADY HAD TO PUT NEW BACK BRAKE PAD ON. THE DEALER ALSO TOLD ME THAT MY FRONT BRAKES WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED ABOUT 25,000 MILES. I HAVE OWNED LOTS OF CARS, AND I HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE BRAKE SO OFTEN. *TR
MOST OF MY DRIVING IS HIGHWAY MILES. AT 29500 THE REAR BRAKES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED ALREADY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT EVEN 1 YEAR OLD AND THE REAR BRAKES GO OUT FIRST. USUALLY ON MY MOST CARS FRONT OR REAR WHEEL DRIVE CARS, THE FRONT BRAKES TEND TO GO OUT FASTER THAN THE REAR BRAKES. AFTER DOING RESEARCH IT TURNS OUT, I AM NOT THE ONLY PROBLEM WITH THIS ISSUE ON THIS CAR. TURNS OUT AS WELL THE DEALERSHIPS KNOW OF THIS ISSUE AS WELL. AND THE FACT THE PART THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS AND RESURFACING THE ROUTER IS ALL WEAR AND TEAR PRODUCTS. SO THIS DOES NOT COVER THE MANUFACTURE WARRANTY. I WOULD UNDERSTAND ON A NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCE IF THE BRAKES NATURALLY WORE OUT THAT YOU WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR REGARDLESS. WHICH WAS WHAT I EXPECTING WHEN I DROPPED OF THE CAR FOR THE PROBLEMS BUT FOR THE REAR BRAKES TO GO BACK THIS EARLY AND THIS SOON AND THEN CHARGE THE CUSTOMER FOR 200-300 FOR THE FIX AND NO WARRANTY, THAT'S REALLY SILLY. *TR
THE BRAKES ON MY 2008 HONDA ACCORD LX HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 13,000 AND AGAIN AT 25,000 MILES. THIS IS CRAZY AND I BELIEVE THIS IS A DEFECT. AT ANYWHERE FROM $160. TO 250. EACH TIME - IT'S A TOTAL RIP OFF AND DECEITFUL. *TR
THE REAR BRAKES OF MY 2008 HONDA ACCORD HAVE WORN OUT PREMATURELY. (32230 MILES) THE DEALERSHIP STATED IT IS NORMAL FOR THIS CAR BECAUSE THE REAR BRAKE PADS ARE BUILT VERY SMALL AND THIN. AFTER CHECKING THE INTERNET, IT SEEMS THAT THE NORMAL WEAR IS BETWEEN 20000 AND 30000 MILES. THE AVERAGE AMERICAN DRIVER SIMPLY CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT THE PROBLEM THEY ARE HAVING, SUCH AS NOISE AND VIBRATIONS IS DUE TO REAR BRAKE WEAR AT SUCH LOW MILEAGE. IT IS MY OPINION THAT THE BRAKING SYSTEM ON THE 2008 HONDA ACCORD IS OF POOR DESIGN AND POSSIBLY A SAFETY ISSUE. PLEASE GIVE CONSIDERATION TO INVESTIGATING THE BRAKING SYSTEM OF THE 2008 HONDA ACCORD. *TR
NOISE FROM REAR OF CAR, TAKEN TO LOCAL HONDA DEALER FOR INSPECTION. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE REAR BRAKES WERE WORN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT 24000 MILES! REPAIR WAS MADE. *TR
I HAVE A 2008 HONDA ACCORD AND HAVE ONLY DRIVE 15000 MILES (MOSTLY HIGHWAY) AND NOW I HAVE TO REPLACE THE BRAKES DUE TO A MANUFACTURING DEFECT MADE BY HONDA. THE CORPORATE OFFICE IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND IS "LOOKING INTO IT" BUT BY THE TIME THEY GET FINISHED WITH THEIR INVESTIGATION I WILL PROBABLY HAVE SPENT ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS ON BRAKE MAINTENANCE. PREMATURE REAR BRAKE PAD WEAR ON 2008 HONDA ACCORD EXL V6. MULTIPLE WEBSITES STATING THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM SOME STATING THAT HONDA CORP. IS AWARE BUT IS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I HAD TO REPLACE REAR BRAKES @ 25,000 MILES WHICH ARE 90 PERCENT FREEWAY MILES. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. I RECOMMEND YOU DO A GOOGLE SEARCH TO SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE AFFECTED BY THIS PROBLEM. *TR
BROUGHT CAR IN DEALERSHIP FOR SQUEAKY BRAKES AT APPROX. 4,000 MILES. AFTER THE INSPECTION, WAS TOLD REAR PADS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND WERE COVERED UNDER 12,000 MILE WARRANTY. A FEW DAYS LATER NOTICED SQUEAKY NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT. BROUGHT CAR BACK AND FRONT PADS WERE REPLACED. A FEW DAYS AFTER THAT, NOISE CAME BACK, AND DEALERSHIP REPLACED BOTH BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS. TWO WEEKS LATER NOISE WAS BACK AGAIN AND NEED TO BRING BACK TO DEALERSHIP. ALSO CONSIDERING WRITING TO HONDA REGARDING LEMON LAW CLAIM. *TR
HONDA ACCORD 2008 SEDAN LX... THERE IS A "METAL GRINDING AGAINST METAL" SOUND FROM THE REAR. WENT TO AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THE REAR BRAKE PADS ARE GONE. I PURCHASED THIS CAR NEW IN APRIL 2008. IT HAS DONE ONLY 13K MILES. THE DEALER ADMITS THAT IT'S VERY EARLY TO HAVE REAR BRAKE PADS WORN OUT. LOOKED ONLINE AND FOUND MANY CONSUMERS OF 2008 ACCORD FACING THE SAME ISSUES. IT'S HIGH TIME HONDA WAKES UP AND ACKNOWLEDGES THE FAULT. I CANNOT KEEP SPENDING USD 300 EVERY 10K MILES TO HAVE THE PADS REPLACED, WHICH ON OTHER CARS NEED REPLACEMENT ONCE EVERY COUPLE OF YEARS. *TR

TOOK MY 2008 HONDA ACCORD TO THE DEALER DUE TO SQUEEKY BRAKES, THE TOLD ME I NEEDED REAR PADS AND THE ROTORS NEED RESURFACING......THE CAR ONLY HAS 13,500 MILES ON IT !!!! WHAT A JOKE. 2008 HONDA ACCORD 4CYL SEDAN REAR BRAKE PADS WEARING OUT IN 18,000 MILES. THE DEALERSHIP CAME UP WITH SOME POOR REASONS INCLUDING MY DRIVING SKILL LEVEL AS TO THE REASON WHY. NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY AND HONDA REPLACEMENT BRAKE SHOES ARE NOT AVAILABLE EXCEPT AT DEALERSHIP. I FOUND A WEBSITE CALLED AUTO BEEF WHERE AT LEAST 55 OTHERS HAD SIMILAR EXPERIENCES. SEEMS LIKE THEY CHANGED THE REAR BRAKE DESIGN TO A FLAWED ONE AND DON'T WANT TO ADMIT THEY SCREWED UP AND CAN CAUSE SERIOUS DAMAGE AND LIKELY INJURY LEFT TO ITS OWN RESOLUTION. *TR
BRAKE PADS ON CAR NEED REPLACING AFTER ONLY $18,000 MILES. *TR
I OWN A 2008 HONDA ACCORD WITH 24K MILES ON IT. I TOOK IT TO MY DEALER BECAUSE I HEARD A METAL GRINDING NOISE FROM THE REAR PASSENGER WHEEL. THE DEALER NOTIFIED ME THAT THE REAR BRAKES ON MY VEHICLE HAD LESS THAN 2MM OF BRAKE PAD REMAINING WHICH I VALIDATED WITH A VISUAL INSPECTION. MY FRONT BRAKES HAD JUST OVER 8MM OF BRAKE PADS REMAINING (NORMAL WEAR). IT IS CLEAR THAT THIS IS A MANUFACTURERS DEFAULT IN EITHER THE BRAKE PADS OR DESIGN. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS COULD BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE IT IS NOT A REASONABLE DEDUCTION BY MOST OWNERS OF A 2008 HONDA ACCORD THAT BRAKE PADS WOULD WEAR OUT WITHIN `20K MILES AND IGNORE THE SYMPTOMS. THE DEALER CHARGED ME $150 TO REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS. *TR
I AM A FIRST TIME BUYER OF A HONDA AUTOMOBILE. I PURCHASED MY HONDA FOR THE RELIABILITY AND QUALITY REPUTATION THAT THEY WERE TO POSSESS. I FIRST NOTICED A LOUD SCRAPPING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF MY CAR AT 37,000 MILES. I ASKED FELLOW AUTOMOTIVE MANUFACTURING EMPLOYEES WHAT THEY THOUGHT IT COULD BE. THE RESPONSE WAS ALWAYS IT CAN'T BE THE PADS BECAUSE OF THE LOW MILEAGE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP DETERMINED I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE REAR PADS AND THAT THE WEAR WAS NORMAL. I WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THAT ANSWER, SO UPON PICKING UP MY ACCORD I ASKED FOR THE OLD PADS. THE INSIDE PAD WAS COMPLETELY WORN WHILE THE PAD FOR THE SAME WHEEL FOR THE OUTSIDE WAS QUITE THE OPPOSITE WITH PLENTY OF PAD LEFT. THE DEALERSHIP TRIED TO EXPLAIN THE INCONSISTENT WEAR DUE TO A EMERGENCY BRAKE CABLE ENGAGEMENT. I DID NOT SEE THE BRAKE LIGHT ON THE DASH LIT UP AT ALL. INVESTIGATING THIS ISSUE FURTHER BECAUSE OF MY CONCERN WITH FAULTY BRAKES, I HAVE LEARNED I AM NOT ALONE. I WILL NOT TOLERATE REPLACING AND PAYING FOR A PROBLEM THAT IS CLEARLY A MANUFACTURING ISSUE OF POOR QUALITY AND WHAT MAY TURN INTO A LIFE LOSS IF NOT UNDERSTOOD. PREMATURE WEARING OF REAR BRAKES ON 2008 HONDA ACCORD. I ALREADY HAD TO REPLACE THEM ONCE AT 12,000 MILES AND JUST TOOK IT IN AGAIN FOR SERVICE AND THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THEM AGAIN SOON. *TR
THIS INCIDENT INVOLVED FAILURE OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM ON MY 2008 HONDA ACCORD WITH NO ANNUNCIATION OR WARNING THAT THERE WAS ANY PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM. FORTUNATELY, I WAS TRAVELING AT SLOW SPEEDS WITH VERY LITTLE TRAFFIC. I HAD DRIVEN ABOUT A MILE AND A HALF AND HAD MULTIPLE STOPS FOR TRAFFIC LIGHTS AND/OR STOP SIGNS WITH NO INDICATION THAT THERE WAS ANY PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKING SYSTEM. I HAD JUST ACCELERATED AFTER LEAVING A TRAFFIC LIGHT AND WAS TRAVELING 25 ? 30 MPH. I ATTEMPTED TO SLOW TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN INTO A GAS STATION PARKING LOT. AT THE POINT OF BRAKING, I OBSERVED ABSOLUTELY NO SLOWING IN RESPONSE TO APPLYING BRAKE PRESSURE. THERE WAS LITTLE RESISTANCE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND I CONTINUED TO DEPRESS THE PEDAL. STILL WITH NO SLOWING IN RESPONSE TO BRAKING, I USED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. AFTER SAFELY STOPPING, I ATTEMPTED TO BETTER CHARACTERIZE THE BRAKING PROBLEM. I WAS ABLE TO REPEATEDLY REPRODUCE THE FAILURE, HOWEVER DID CONFIRM THAT IF THE BRAKE HAD BEEN FULLY DEPRESSED AND THEN A VERY QUICK PUMP TO THE BRAKE, EXCESSIVE AND DRAMATIC PRESSURE WAS TEMPORARILY AVAILABLE. I PHONED MY HUSBAND FOR ASSISTANCE AND HE WAS ABLE TO CAREFULLY DRIVE THE VEHICLE, USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ONLY TO LYNWOOD HONDA FOR INVESTIGATION AND SERVICING. WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED BY LYNWOOD HONDA THAT THE ABS MODULATOR HAD FAILED, HOWEVER, THERE WERE NOT FAULTS RECORDED IN THE VEHICLE?S COMPUTER WHICH IS WHY NO DASHBOARD INDICATION OCCURRED. THEY ALSO INDICATED THAT THIS WAS THE SECOND SUCH CASE REPORTED ON THE 2008 ACCORD. I PERSONALLY ATTEMPTED TO CALL HONDA OF AMERICA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS NOT SATISFIED WITH THE EXPLANATION AND / OR ACTION THEY WERE ABLE TO ADVICE ME THEY WERE TAKING AS A RESULT OF THIS INCIDENT. NOTE THAT THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN MAINTAINED ACCORDING TO HONDA'S RECOMMENDED SCHEDULE AND HAS BEEN DONE EXCLUSIVELY BY THE LYNWOOD HONDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT. *TR
