THE STARTER IS MALFUNCTIONING AND THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START
I BOUGHT A 2014 HONDA ACCORD SPORT BRAND NEW THE CAR STARTED BURNING OIL AT 55.000 MILES THIS IS A WELL MAINTAIN CAR ONLY CHANGE OIL AT THE DEALER AND HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY,BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER,THIS IS MY THIRD TIME THE OIL IS LOW CLOSE TO 1000 MILES AND EVERY TIME I GO TO THEM THEY CHARGE ME FOR AN OIL CHANGE,SO IM WAITING TO SEE WHEN WHEN I GO BACK THIS TIME WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO TELL ME,THE PROBLEM IS /OIL CONSUMPTION,
ON MY 2014 ACCORD SPORT (2.4 L, I4 ENGINE), THERE APPEARS TO BE 'EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION' SINCE ABOUT 50K MILES. I HAVE TO ADD ABOUT 3/4 QUART TO 1 QUART OF OIL EVERY 2000-2500 MILES. I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW AND PERFORM ALL THE MAINTENANCE ON TIME AT THE HONDA DEALER. I TAKE EXTREMELY GOOD CARE OF THIS CAR AND HAVE NEVER MISSED A SERVICE. IT NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE BEFORE HITTING 50K MILES. IT CURRENTLY HAS 77K MILES AND I JUST HAD TO ADD 3/4 QUART OF OIL AGAIN AFTER ONLY 2000 MILES. I'VE EVEN REPLACED THE PCV VALVE WITH NO LUCK. MY QUESTION IS, WHY ISN'T THERE A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE SIMILAR TO THE RECALL RELATED TO 2008-2012 ACCORDS? I THINK MANY OTHER HONDA OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. BY THE WAY, I'VE SEEN HONDA'S STANCE THAT UP TO 1 QUART OF OIL EVERY 1000 MILES IS ACCEPTABLE, I ABSOLUTELY DISAGREE.. IT'S ENTIRELY UNACCEPTABLE FOR A CAR WITH SUCH LOW MILES TO BURN THIS MUCH OIL. I WORRY HOW THIS CAR WILL DO AS IT GETS OLDER. AT THIS RATE, WHO'S RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WHEN IT GOES BAD DUE TO THE OIL CONSUMPTION?
ENGINE RATTLES LOUDLY UPON STARTUP. CAR HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED DURING ENTIRE PERIOD OF ORIGINAL OWNERSHIP. APPEARS TO BE A MAJOR ENGINE ISSUE.
I'VE A 2014 HONDA ACCORD EX AND IT BURNS OIL CONSTANTLY. I ALWAYS TOOK MY CAR TO THE DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE EVERY SINCE I BOUGHT IT NEW UNTIL TWO YEAR 2020 UNTIL DO MY OWN OIL CHANGE AND REALIZE I BURN A QUART OF OIL WITHIN A MONTH. SO THE DEALER HAS CHANGE MY MOTOR OIL ALL THIS YEAR WITHOUT TELLING ME UNTIL MY WARRANTY IS OVER AND I SURE THEY KNOW AND HEAR COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS ISSUES ALREADY THEY SHOULD DO A RECALLED ON THIS CAR DO TO SAFETY REASON. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHANGE OIL SERVICE LIGHT SHOWED 30 PERCENT OIL LIFE REMAINING IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE. THE CONTACT'S SPOUSE REMOVED THE DIPSTICK AND CHECKED THE OIL LEVELS. THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE TECHNICIAN CONFIRMED THAT THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE ENGINE. THE OIL WAS TOPPED OFF. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
ENGINE STARTED LEAKING OIL. MAJOR ENGINE GASKETS AND SEALS REPLACEMENT WAS REQUIRED. CAR WAS REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HONDA ACCORD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING AND CONSUMED ONE QUART OF ENGINE OIL PER 1,000 MILES. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V121000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. METRO HONDA (4918 W HIGHWAY 74, MONROE, NC 28110, (704) 220-1500) WAS CONTACTED AND IT WAS RECOMMENDED THAT THE VEHICLE BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT RESEARCHED AND FOUND INFORMATION WHICH STATED THAT THE ENGINE'S SHORT BLOCK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AT A COST OF APPROXIMATELY $5,000. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHOOK, ALL LIGHTS ON DASHBOARD CAME ON, AND VEHICLE STALLED. VEHICLE TOWED TO MIDAS. MECHANIC THERE INFORMED ME THAT THE ISSUE IS FAULTY ENGINE. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE IN 2017 AND MAINTAIN COMPLETE UPKEEP OF THE VEHICLE. *TR
MY CAR IS BURNING OIL. 1. THERE IS BLACK SUTT AROUND THE EXHAUST. 2. CHECKED THE ENGINE OIL DIPSTICK AND THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE CAR. CAR HAS LESS THAN 45000 MILES ON IT. VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND LEFT FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS. PLEASE INVESTIGATE. THANKS!
2014 HONDA ACCORD WILL NOT START. IT STARTS INTERMITTENTLY, BUT SOMETIMES WHEN I TRY TO START IT, IT MAKES A CLICKING NOISE, BUT WILL NOT START. SOMETIMES IT EVENTUALLY STARTS, BUT OTHER TIMES I HAVE TO JUMP IT. BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR BOTH CHECK OUT FINE.

VEHICLE RATTLES ON COLD START. FREQUENTLY BURNING OIL. HAVE PROPERLY MAINTAINED VEHICLE SINCE PURCHASED FEBRUARY 2014.
TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS WITH ONLY 76,000 MILES.
LOUD RATTLING NOISE FROM THE ENGINE ON COLD START UP.
I BELIEVE IT IS A STARTER ISSUE. WHEN I GO TO START THE VEHICLE IT WILL OFTEN STALL AND NOT THE START THE FIRST COUPLE TIMES AND I CAN HEAR IT TRY TO START BUT FAIL. THE CAR ONLY HAS 39K MILES ON IT AND I WAS DOING MY RESEARCH AND A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE HAVE THIS SAME ISSUE WITH THEIR 2014 ACCORD. I THINK THIS SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A RECALL AND FIXED BY HONDA OR REFUNDED FOR REPAIR BY HONDA.
SINCE ABOUT OCT 2019 HAD AN OIL LEAK BUT ALWAYS KEPT ENOUGH OIL IN CAR BY OCCASIONALLY CHECKING/FILLING WHEN NECESSARY THEN ON 2/17/20 WHILE DRIVING UPHILL AT 55MPH THE CAR LOSS POWER SO I PULLED OVER TO CHECK OIL LEVEL WHICH WAS FINE. THEN RESTARTED CAR BUT CAR WAS STILL UNDER POWERED BUCKING WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE FORWARD. TOOK CAR IN TO FIND THAT 1 OF 4 CYLINDERS HAD ONLY 15% COMPRESSION WHY? BUT DIDN'T HAVE TIME TO TAKE ENGINE APART SO PUT IN NEW PLUGS AND POINTS BUT DIDN'T SOLVE PROBLEM. FOUND 2014 RECALL THAT WAS STRIKING SIMILAR BUT HONDA CLAIMS THAT RECALL DOESN'T COVER MY CAR?? PLEASE HELP BECAUSE THIS RECALL OF JULY 2014 MANUFACTURED CARS SHOULD POSSIBLY BE EXPANDED OR MAYBE ANOTHER RECALL IS NEEDED. THANKS FOR YOUR ATTENTION. 2014 HONDA ACCORD LX 2.4 CAR HAS BEEN BURNING EXCESS OIL OF ABOUT 1 QUART PER 500 MILES. LOW PRESSURE OIL LIGHT HAS COME ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS WITH CAR STALLING. THIS HAPPENED AFTER RELATIVELY SHORT INTERVALS BETWEEN OIL CHANGES AND ADDS. TAILPIPE HAS EXCESSIVE CARBON BUILDUP. REPLACED PCV VALVE AND ISSUE CONTINUES. CAR ONLY HAS 100K MILES ON IT. DEALERS ARE OF NO HELP AND DESCRIBE THE PROBLEM HAS NORMAL. HONDA HAS A RECALL ON OLDER MODEL (2008-2011) MODELS SO IT APPEARS THEY HAVE NOT FIXED THEIR ENGINE PROBLEMS. THERE ARE 1000S OF COMPLAINTS ON THE WEB ABOUT THIS ISSUE. IT'S TIME THAT HONDA RECALLS THESE VEHICLES. I'M SURE THERE ARE A LOT OF UNSUSPECTING DRIVERS OUT THERE WHO ARE UNAWARE OF THIS THAT COULD HAVE A CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE . I WAS TOTALLY UNAWARE. OF THE PROBLEM UNTIL LOW PRESSURE LIGHT FLICKERED . WHEN I CHECKED OIL IT WAS BONE DRY. PLEASE READ THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS . THIS IS NOT NORMAL FOR CARS IN THIS AGE RANGE .
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 HONDA ACCORD. WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE, A WHINING NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. OCCASIONALLY, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START IMMEDIATELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ED MORSE HONDA (3790 W BLUE HERON BLVD, RIVIERA BEACH, FL 33404) WHERE THE STARTER WAS EXAMINED, BUT NO FAILURE WAS FOUND. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE MANUFACTURER'S TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN NUMBER: 16-002. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION
GRINDING NOISE WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START. VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. GRINDING NOISE CAN OCCUR ONCE OR UP TO 10 TIMES BEFORE ENGINE WILL FINALLY START. ENGINE HAD LESS THAN 100,000 MILES WHEN INITIALLY OCCURRED. CONTINUED TO GET WORSE OVER TIME AND MILEAGE.
CAR WILL FAIL TO START. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. IF THE CAR STALLS AND WON'T RESTART DEPENDING ON LOCATION, EG HIGHWAY, IT COULD BE A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD. MY 2014 HONDA ACCORD HAS INTERMITTENT STARTER PROBLEMS. SOMETIMES IT STARTS FINE, OTHER TIMES THE LIGHTS ALL GO ON BUT NOTHING ELSE HAPPENS. WHEN IT WON'T START TURNING THE CAR OFF AND TRYING AGAIN USUALLY WORKS. I CAN ALSO GET IT TO START BY LEAVING THE KEY TURNED TO THE START POSITION AND PUMPING THE CLUTCH. THIS INDICATES THE IGNITION SWITCH IS OK AND THE CLUTCH START SENSOR SWITCH IS OK. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAY THEY HAVE REPLACED A BUNCH OF STARTERS BUT THERE IS NO RECALL. THEY WANT $800 TO REPLACE THE STARTER. A WEB SEARCH INDICATES THE STARTER IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR 2014 ACCORDS. WHEN IS THE RECALL? I NEED TO GET THIS FIXED. HOW DO I GET RE-REIMBURSED IF I HAVE THIS FIXED BEFORE THE RECALL?

HELLO' WHENEVER I COLD START MY HONDA ACCORD, THERE'S A SHORT GRINDING NOISE AT THE START, IN WHICH DISAPPEARS IMMEDIATELY AFTER A SECOND OR TWO OF THE GRINDING. THIS HAS HAPPENED EVERY SINGLE COLD START SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR 3 MONTHS AGO. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH, IT APPEARS THERE WAS A SIMILAR ISSUE FOR EARLIER YEARS OF THIS CAR.
