The contact’s son owns a 2010 Honda CR-V. The contact stated that while his son was driving at an undisclosed speed, he heard an abnormal sound under the hood of the vehicle. The vehicle then stalled. Additionally, the contact stated that while attempting to accelerate above 60 MPH, he depressed the accelerator pedal however, the RPM’s increased and the engine revved but the vehicle failed to respond. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the contact was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
Ref: NHTSA Recall Number: 23V-228 Per advice from Honda, I contacted the dealer for recall disposition. They informed me that if the vehicle fails inspection and cannot be repaired, Honda will not return the vehicle and offer a cash compensation instead. This is unfair because: 1. Such impounding of vehicle is not mentioned in their notice (attached with this form). The words used are "may offer to repurchase the vehicle from you" 2. Not returning the vehicle and unilaterally offering a cash compensation is unethical business practice. I sincerely request NHTSA to take up the issue with Honda and ensure that a full repair be done even if the inspection fails. It might cost them more but they must do it. In case the vehicle cannot be repaired, it must be declared as totaled and an independent insurance adjuster must determine the cash compensation value and not Honda.
My car has been stalling sporadically. I took it to a shop for a diagnostic and it showed PCM malfunction. This has been recalled on some 2010 CRVs why is mine not included?
I WAS DRIVING ON ABRIDGE AND CAR WENT OUT OF GEAR AND WOULD NOT PULL. THEN IT GOES BACK IN GEAR. IT DID THIS SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE I GOT HOME SOME 24 MILES AWAY SO I TOOK CAR TO TRANSMISSION SHOP AND FOUND OUT A SOMETHING HAD BROKEN OFF THE 5TH GEAR AREA HAD TO GET IT FIXED. JUST GOT OUT OF SHOP AND PAID $2838.36. SO MY QUESTION IS IS THERE A RECALL IF SO HOW DO I GET REIMBURSED?
THE HONDA CRV 2010, I HAVE HAD ISSUES WHERE THE AWD HAS NOT KICKED IN AND THE CAR HAS GONE INTO SLIDS AND OVERSTEER WHERE IT DID NOT STABLIZE THE CAR FROM SLIDING. GOING ABOUT 10 MPH AND THE CAR SLID IN THE SNOW, THE TIRES WERE GOOD AND IT SEEMS THE AWD IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. IN EUROPE HONDA ISSUED A SOFTWARE UPGRADE FOR THIS ISSUE BUT BLATENTLEY REFUSES TO ISSUE THE PROPER SOFTWARE UPGRADE FOR THE AWD SYSTEM FOR THIS CAR. DURING A REPAIR OF A RECALL (STICKY PISTON, OIL CONSUMPTION), HONDA NOTICED THE CAMSHAFT WAS SEVERELY DETERIORATED. THE CAR WAS STATIONARY DURING REPAIR.
2010 HONDA CRV. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED IN MAY 2012, THE VEHICLE SHIFTED FROM 5TH GEAR TO 3RD GEAR, WHILE TRAVELING AT 65-70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS ENGAGED AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. IT HAPPENED TWICE AGAIN. ON EACH OCCASION, HE MOVED TO THE SHOULDER, TURNED THE IGNITION OFF, PUT THE GEAR SHIFT IN PARK, STARTED THE ENGINE, RE-SET THE CRUISE CONTROL, AND PROCEEDED. *JB

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN FAILED TO QUALIFY FOR REPAIRS UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER:11V395000 (POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:CONTROL MODULE -TCM,PCM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,600 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 5,624.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA CR-V. THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION, AND SHIFTED INTO PARK WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL ENGAGED, SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD. THE INTERMITTENT FAILURE OCCURRED WHENEVER SHIFTING INTO THE PARK POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER SIX TIMES FOR THE IDENTICAL FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE FAILURE WAS COMMON AND THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY. THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS A RECALL RELATED TO THE DEFECT UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 11V395000 (POWER TRAIN: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: CONTROL MODULE (TCM, PCM); HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,465. ... UPDATED 09/19/11 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD LUNGED FORWARD INTERMITTENTLY. THE RPM'S WOULD FLUCTUATE. THERE WAS FLUID LEAKING FROM THE VEHICLE AND THERE WAS A VIBRATION UPON ACCELERATION. UPDATED 01/19/12
I BOUGHT CRV EX 2W IN APRIL, 2010. I NOTICED A DRIVELINE VIBRATION EITHER FROM TRANSMISSION OR ENGINE WHEN I DRIVE ON DOWNHILL HIGHWAY AND UNDERPOWERED IN 40-50 MPH. IT SEEMED THAT 5TH GEAR REFUSED TO DOWNSHIFTED. I REPORTED IT IN FEW DAYS, BUT THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG. I CONTINUED TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM; I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER DEALER TWICE. ONE TIME THE DEALER MECHANIC NOTICED THAT SOMETHING WAS NOT RIGHT, BUT LATER THEY TOLD ME THAT NOTHING WAS FOUND WRONG. I SAW SERVICE BULLETIN TO UPGRADE ENGINE SOFTWARE, SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER IN MARCH 2011. THEY SAID THAT THEY DID NOT KNOW OF THE BULLETIN. I SHOWED THE COPY OF THE BULLETIN ISSUED ON NOV 2010. THEY ACKNOWLEDGED IT, AND UPGRADED THE SOFTWARE. IT IMPROVED A LITTLE BIT OF THE UNDERPOWER PROBLEM, BUT DID NOT FIX THE DRIVE LINE VIBRATION IN DRIVING ON DOWNHILL HIGHWAY. A FEW TIMES, I WAS AFRAID THAT THE ENGINE WOULD FALL APART FROM THE CAR. THE WORST TIME OF IT IS WHEN I DRIVE IT FIRST IN THE MORNING THOUGH I WARM UP THE ENGINE ENOUGH. *TR
TRANSMISSION CONSTANTLY HESITATES TO DOWNSHIFT WHEN MORE POWER IS REQUIRED, EVEN IF I PRESS ACCELERATOR ALL OF WAY TO THE FLOOR. MANY TIME IT PLACES ME IN DANGEROUS SITUATION, PARTICULARLY WHILE MERGING ON THE HIGHWAY.
2010 HONDA CRV BOUGHT NEW. WE HAVE A DRIVELINE VIBRATION NOTICED THE DAY WE TOOK IT HOME. WE HAVE 5 REPAIR ORDERS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM WITH NO RESOLUTION. 1 OF THE REPAIR ORDERS WAS DONE BY AN INDEPENDENT GARAGE WHO NOTED THE VIBRATION AND WHAT HE THOUGHT NEEDED TO BE DONE BUT NO REPAIR WAS MADE. WE ARE WORKING WITH A LEMON LAW ATTORNEY BUT DON'T FEEL LIKE WE ARE ON THE RIGHT TRACK. I AM A AUTO TECHNICIAN AND NOT MUCH OF WHAT I SAID WAS DONE. HONDA IS NOW TRYING TO WALK AWAY FROM US. THE LAWYER SAID SHE FILED A CLAIM WITH HONDA 2 TIMES AND IT WAS "DENIED". I DON'T UNDERSTAND THAT SINCE THE MASSACHUSETTS LEMON LAW, M.G.L. CH 90 7N 1/2 STATES THAT IT IS PRESUMED THAT THE LEMON LAW IS SATISFIED IF EITHER OF THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS IS MET: 1. THE CAR WAS PRESENTED FOR REPAIR ON 3 OR MORE OCCASIONS FOR THE SAME NONCONFORMITY WITHIN ONE YEAR OR 15,000 MILES FROM THE DATE OF ORIGINAL DELIVERY OF THE CAR AND THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS.. WE CLEARLY FIT THIS BUT THE 1ST TIME AROUND WITH THE LAWYER SHE SAID WE DID NOT QUALIFY AND SAID " I UNDERSTAND YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED "ISSUES" WITH YOUR VEHICLE BUT SOME OF THE "ISSUES" YOU HAVE EXPERIENCED DO NOT FALL UNDER THE LEMON LAW. CONCERNS RELATED TO BRAKES, ROTORS, TIRES, WHEELS, ALIGNMENTS, COSMETIC ISSUES, WEAR & TEAR- ARE ALL ITEMS SPECIFICALLY EXCLUDED IN YOUR WARRANTY BOOKLET AND ALTHOUGH THE DEALER MAY DECIDE TO PERFORM REPAIRS AT NO COST UNDER "GOOD-WILL", THEY DO FALL WITHIN THE LEMON LAW SO THE MANUFACTURER IS NOT LIABLE AND THEREFORE WILL NOT MAKE YOU AN OFFER OF SETTLEMENT. EXTREMELY SLUGGISH ACCELERATION FROM LOW SPEEDS AND FROM A STOP. IT IS AWFUL TO TRY TO MERGE WITH TRAFFIC ON ENTRANCES OF INTERSTATES AND HIGHWAYS AND JUST CROSSING STREETS THAT REQUIRE DECENT ACCELERATION. THIS IS A HAZARD TO ME AND THOSE COMING ON THE MAIN ROADS AS WELL AS VEHICLES FOLLOWING MY ENTRANCE INTO TRAFFIC. WE HAVE CONNECTED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THE DEALER.
