I first noticed an issue with my car on October 16th. ALL the dashboard lights came on as if the car had a new battery while I was driving. My Honda dealership said: Explanation: fuel system too rich due to faulty fuel injectors. Repairs to be completed: replace fuel injectors, gaskets, spark plugs All suggested repairs were done because I need a car The cost, $2,557.28 I filed a case with Honda Corporate and they said it was due to my car's age and linked to maintenance. I've always had my CRV serviced at Honda dealerships and my car is only a 2018.

The 1.5L turbo engine in my 2018 Honda CR-V is experiencing oil dilution. Raw fuel mixes with the engine oil, lowering flashpoint and thinning viscosity. This creates a fire risk, loss of lubrication, accelerated engine wear, and potential stalling. Honda issued TSBs, but the problem persists. This is a serious safety defect.

This is with reference to 23V-858. I own a Honda Cr-v 2018 model. I got first notice about open recall of Fuel Pump module back in December 2023 follow by couple of other reminders but whenever I called Honda dealership, they said part is not available. It's been more than a year now, I got another notice that part is available and to call any Honda dealership to schedule a repair. But now when I called my nearby Honda service centers, they don't have a date available for appointment in next 30 days. I am really worried of driving it further as this looks to be an issue with Fuel pump or engine. Pelase help me file a complaint against Honda for this inconvenience and help me get this repair done asap.

Feb 2025 Crash

Honda CRV in it’s first signs failed to start. Vehicle ignition would fail to function, there was no respond. I had to shut off for 15 minutes then tried initiating, it would start as if nothing happened. I thought this was due to a battery/electrical issue. At times I thought it would not turn on and I would be left stranded where I was. Second issues began with Honda CRV not responding to gear changes, it would shake in the middle of the road, in between trips. I was praying this was not the transmission. Did have this repaired since I would regularly keep up it’s maintenance and no further damage was announced by dealership. In the scariest of events, Honda CRV stopped in the middle of freeway! Car began to shut off, would not advance further and completely lost power. I had to safely move to the side of the road, exiting freeway very frigthtened. Only warnings signs I had other than the unfortunate events mentioned above, where vehicle failed to operate. It was the last 2 or 3 times I took my vehicle for scheduled maintenance. I began to get information from service center about extremely costly repairs my Honda CRV vehicle needed. There were no other lights, messages or warnings on vehicle dashboard. I automatically though the repairs recommended were an intent to charge me more than needed. I also did not have the amount of money required for the costly the repairs. I did receive a safety recall repair notice on or before behinning of 2024. Around January/February then again January 2025 regarding an “Important Safety Recall.” I do not know why parts had a “limited availability,” if this was “IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL” why then did this take so long to be properly attended? The letter does state that “safety consequences” of not repairing could cause engine issues. Prevent engine from starting, cause vehicle to loose drive power or stall while driving, increasing risk of crash or injury. Please help me with this issue. Thank you in advance for reading.

Issue: Car loses power while driving. Event: Started car, drove down a hill about 1.5 miles. Tried to accelerate, lost all power, CEL started blinking. Limped car to safe location but could not accelerate over 5 mph. Next start, all vehicle warning lights flashing on dashboard. Code reader threw a P0310, P0300 (engine misfire). Problem reproduced/confirmed by independent service center. Preliminary diagnostics (swapped ignition coils and spark plugs 1&2 to 3&4, reinspected, misfires still on 1&2) suggesting possible fuel injector faults. Recommended working with Honda directly for further diagnostics because fuel injectors are replaced as an assembly and often require programming by a dealer, also problem seems similar to recall issue. Concern: Vehicle has 42,000 miles; fuel injectors should not fail at this mileage. Received a Honda safety recall letter in February 2024 NHTSA Recall Number: 23V-858/Honda Campaign number KGC. Called Honda after unsafe driving event (loss of power while driving). Honda stated that the recall for my VIN was rescinded. However, the problem seems very likely related to this recall.

Vehicle started to run erratically as I was merging onto highway and all the dashboard lights were illuminated. Vehicle would not accelerate past 25 mph. Pulled over and turned car off and back on. Was able to accelerate and go a few more miles before car decelerated from 65 to 25. Got off highway and drove vehicle back home. It did it one more time, while on a back road. Took it to mechanic and diagnosis was two failed fuel injectors. Vehicle is less than 6 years old and has 95,000 miles on it.

It is terrifying and unacceptable that they announce a fuel pump recall and then tell drivers to wait basically a year to they maybe get the part. Ticking time bomb. This is an addendum to some folks who already had a near catastrophe or worse because this company was negligent. Is anyone filing any lawsuits yet? My vin: [XXX] Can someone get back to me with a safety proposition because Honda has failed. Thank you. The vehicle began running rough Spring 2023 and all the lights on the dashboard lit up. The local mechanic did not identify any serious problem and the lights all going off seemed to be a separate issue since the whole dashboard was lit up. We continued driving it out of necessity and eventually it began stalling. Then we took it back to our mechanic who identified the fuel injectors as the issue and recommended that we take it to the dealership. We took it to the dealership and they charged $3000 for the fuel injector replacement and also did some minor recall repairs. When my husband drove it off the lot, it stalled again so he brought it back and identified that it still was not repaired. They then kept it for 2-3 more weeks and repaired the head gasket. We took it home and drove it for another 6 mths and then it stalled again when my husband was driving at 65mph on a bridge. He safely pulled over but the vehicle had trouble restarting as it had in Spring of 2023 from time to time when it was riding rough. This time there were no warning lights related to the issue. The dash now has some warning lights. We have not driven it since and the part for the fuel pump from Honda is not available until Fall 2024 so we are without a vehicle even though we paid for a new vehicle that we hoped would last us beyond 6 years.

Within the last 2 months the car began to run rough. We added fuel injector cleaner to no avail. After some time, the computer system went berserk - every system in the car was informing us that it had a problem (ie lane keep assist, lane departure warning, collision mitigation braking system, vehicle stability assist , electric power steering etc) along with continued rough engine performance. We took the vehicle to a local Honda dealership repair shop and were eventually informed that the fuel injectors were faulty and need to be replaced. We requested that they order a set of injectors for us a month ago and are still waiting delivery of these back-ordered parts A phone call recently to the parts department of another dealer turned up with non-availability there as well The fact that these parts are in such demand along with the continued poor performance of our vehicle suggests that there may be some sort of widespread problem with this model of vehicle The constant alerts about system failures accompanied by warning chimes are a major distraction while driving. If a real problem occurs involving one of these systems, we won’t know about it since they are all “screaming “ at us about their impending failure While bad fuel injectors are not a direct safety hazard, the resulting systems problem can be seen as somewhat hazardous

I bought this vehicle few weeks ago from the Honda Bellevue, Washington state. After one week or more, all warning signal were presented and we could smell strong gasoline inside cabin when all windows were closed. I took the vehicle to the dealership and they couldn't figure out the problem but only updated the software for me. After the checkup, me and my family smelled gasoline twice. I am so worry about it because I have used this vehicle to deliver my 8 year old son to school and other sport activties.

Traveling on I-20 My wife reported the car just quit working with no warning between Atlanta and Birmingham about 90 miles from home. She was able to get to the side of the interstate and called me. She said all the lights on the display were showing as failed systems. Internet search lead me to believe it was the battery. On arrival i installed new battery but symptoms remained car would not start and just shuddered when attempting to start. I called the dealership we purchased from to talk to a tech. I was asked if she was low on gas below 1/2 tank. Yes the gauge shows 1/4 tank remains. I was told to get gas and it should be fine, some of the CRV's run out of gas but read that gas remains. I did get gas and car cranked we drove home. At 63 we don't need this kind of dangerous situation to happen. Think how easily this could have gone from bad to worse. She did call the state patrol and asked for the roadside assistance truck to come. This would at least have some flashing lights. They never made it. The dealership told me on the phone that this was not a recall or covered but they knew about it occurring. They would be glad to fix it at my expense. Money for maintenance is one thing but I might as well let my wife drive a junker if this is what I get when I buy a Honda. This occurred 02/16/22 so I have not been to the dealer for their evaluation, just to the gas station.

3WKS FEB23, 2021 I PURCHASED A 2018 HONDA CRV I WAS LOOKING AT SOME CUSTOMERS THAT COMPLAINING ABOUT OIL DELETION IN THE ENGINE, I'M VERY WORRIED BECAUSE I DO GET A GAS SMELL INSIDE MY CAR, FROM THE EXHAUST AND WHEN I CHECK THE ENGINE OIL DIPSTICK. IT DOESN'T SHOW AS A RECALL BUT IT IS VERY CONCERNING AND I'M WORRIED THE VEHICLE WOULD BURST INTO FLAMES.

I was driving and then the car wouldn't go, seems like a fuel pump issue. There is a recall on fuel pumps for this year but according to Honda and this site mine is not effected. I disagree.

While driving on the highway the service engine soon light started blinking and the engine lost power effecting my ability to keep up with traffic. After coming to a stop the light stopped. When I started the engine back up there was a lot of white smoke from the exhaust. I checked the oil level and it was at least 1/2 inch above full and smelled strongly of gas.

I HAVE A 2018 HONDA CRV EX. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM PROBLEM WARNING AT TIMES, AND AT OTHER TIMES, ALL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON SIMULTANEOUSLY. AT TIMES IT DRIVES FINE WHILE ONE OR ALL THESE LIGHTS ARE ON, BUT TWICE WHEN I WAS DRIVING 30-40 MPH, I HAVE LOST POWER, HAVING TO PULL OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.

DRIVING CAR ON SLIGHT UPHILL GRADE A A MISFIRE OCCURRED CAUSING A FLASHING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THROTTLE CONTROL WAS DEFEATED BY DESIGN AND THE CAR CAME TO A STOP IN A LANE WITH NO SHOULDER AND SEMI TRUCKS BEHIND ME. WAS ABLE TO CYCLE KEY A FEW TIMES AND THROTTLE CONTROL WAS RESTORED UNTIL CAR MISFIRED AGAIN AND SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN. TALKED TO LOCAL HONDA SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WAS TOLD THAT WHAT HAPPENED IS BY DESIGN, TO PROTECT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER IN THE EVENT OF A MISFIRE..THIS IS A DANGEROUS DESIGN FLAW. THERE ARE OTHER WAYS TO PROTECT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND STILL LEAVE THE CAR RUNNING WITH AT LEAST PARTIAL POWER. MANY MANUFACTURERS SIMPLY CUT FUEL DELIVERY TO THE CYLINDER THAT IS MISFIRING, LEAVING YOU LESS POWER BUT STILL SAFE TO DRIVE.. THIS PROBLEM IS A SIMPLE FIX FOR HONDA WITH A REFLASH. THIS DANGEROUS SITUATION WAS CREATED BY A SIMPLE SPARK PLUG ISSUE ON ONE CYLINDER.

THERE IS A VERY STRONG GASOLINE SMELL IN THE ENGINE OIL. THE OIL LEVEL IS MUCH HIGHER ON THE DIPSTICK THAN AT THE LAST OIL CHANGE, INDICATING GASOLINE IS SOMEHOW MAKING ITS WAY INTO THE OIL. THERE IS A GASOLINE SMELL IN THE CABIN ON EVERY TRIP. CAR IS OWNED AND OPERATED IN ATLANTA, GA.

APPROXIMATELY 2,200 MILES. DRIVING NORMALLY AT ABOUT 35MPH. CAR STARTED SEVERELY MISFIRING. AND QUICKLY STARTED LOSING POWER. CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 9 MPH..WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. PULLED OVER IMMEDIATELY. VISUALLY CHECKED MOTOR INCLUDING OIL DIPSTICK. STRONG SMELL OF GAS AND OIL LEVEL WAS ABOVE NORMAL. GAS IN THE OIL. HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. I WAS INFORMED BY THE HONDA SERVICE TECH THERE WAS GAS IN THE OIL AND PLUGS WERE FOULED. OIL DILLUTION PROBLEM.

WHILE DRIVING AT A SLOW SPEED IN A PARKING LOT VEHICLE MISFIRED AND ALL ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS BECAME NONFUNCTIONAL. LOST SOME CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. PARKED CAR IMMEDIATELY AND CAR STARTED TO REV ITSELF WHILE IN PARK WITHOUT PUSHING THE PEDAL. ALL SYSTEM ALERT INDICATORS CAME ON INDICATING ISSUES WITH MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL & ENGINE COMPONENTS. TURNED CAR OFF FOR A MINUTE. TURNED CAR BACK ON AND ALL INDICATOR LIGHTS REMAINED. CALLED LOCAL HONDA DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY AND HAD TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. HONDA DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THEY NOTICED MISFIRES AS WELL WHEN TESTING AND CAR WAS NOT PERFORMING WELL. DEALERSHIP INDICATED THE FOLLOWING IN DIAGNOSTIC REPORT: "FOUND ENGINE OIL TO BE OVER FILLED. CODE P0300 RANDAM MISFIRE. THERE WAS GAS IN THE FUEL - PERFORMED OIL CHANGE AND UPDATED THE PGM - FI SYSTEM" AFTER CONDUCTING RESEARCH WE FOUND THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH HONDA CRV 2018 MODELS, BUT THERE IS NOT AN OFFICIAL RECALL. IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE BY HONDA THAT GAS GETS IN TO THE OIL PANEL AND DILUTES THE OIL WITH GAS. THIS IS BOTH A SAFETY AND MECHANICAL ISSUE THAT NEEDS FIXED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS HAD OUR CAR MISFIRED AT HIGHER SPEED THIS COULD HAVE EASILY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WITH THE AMOUNT OF LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THIS WILL ALSO ASSUREDLY EFFECT THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLES ENGINE AS OIL IS DILUTED BY GAS. THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOT FORTHCOMING WITH INFORMATION REGARDING THIS KNOWN ISSUE BY HONDA OF GAS GETTING INTO THE OIL TANK AND CAUSING STALLING AND MISFIRES ISSUES JUST AS WHAT HAPPENED TO US. IT WAS NOT UNTIL WE TOLD THEM WE FOUND INFORMATION ON IT OURSELVES DID THEY RECOGNIZE IT. WE WERE INFORMED BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT OUR PARTICULAR VIN HAD ALREADY HAD THE UPDATE AND FIX THAT WAS SUGGESTED BY HONDA FOR THIS ISSUE. IF THAT IS THE CASE, THEN IT DID NOT REMEDY OUR VEHICLE, AND THIS IS STILL A SAFETY ISSUE HONDA NEEDS TO RECTIFY WITH ITS CUSTOMERS.

TERRIBLE GAS SMELL INSIDE THE VEHICLE. VERY STRONG GAS ODOR ALMOST ENOUGH TO GIVE US A HEADACHE. WE GOOGLED GAS SMELL ISSUE FOR A 2018 CRV AND READ INFORMATION ABOUT CHECKING OIL TO SEE IF THE STRONG GAS SMELL IS COMING THERE. OIL DIPSTICK SMELLED VERY STRONG FOR GAS. PLAN TO CONTACT HONDA AND THE DEALER TOMORROW TO SEE WHAT CAN BE DONE.

THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED NEW IN JULY 2018. AFTER ABOUT 2 MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP, IT WAS OBSERVED THAT THE OIL LEVEL WAS SIGNIFICANTLY ABOVE THE "FULL" MARK ON THE DIPSTICK. CHECKED ON-LINE AND LEARNED THAT MANY OTHER OWNERS HAD MADE THE SAME OBSERVATION, NOTING A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE IN THE OIL ON THE DIPSTICK. DEALER ACKNOWLEDGED THAT 1.5 LITER TURBO ENGINES ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM WITH INCREASING FREQUENCY. DEALER CHANGED OIL AND FILTER AT NO CHARGE. PROBLEM PERSISTED, WITH 3 MORE OIL CHANGES AT NO COST OVER NEXT 4 MONTHS DUE TO GASOLINE DILUTION OF OIL AND CONSEQUENT OVERFILL OF CRANKCASE AS READ ON THE DIPSTICK. HONDA DEALERSHIP CARRIED OUT A HONDA PRODUCT UPDATE ON THIS VEHICLE REFERENCED AS "1245A2 PRODUCT UPDATE CAMPAIGN" THAT INVOLVED A SOFTWARE UPDATE IN WHICH THE PCM AND TCM WERE PROGRAMMED AND THE A/C CONTROL UNIT WAS REPLACED. OIL LEVELS SEEMED NORMAL FOR ABOUT TWO MONTHS, BUT ONCE AGAIN WERE WELL OVER THE FULL MARK AND HAD A STRONG GASOLINE ODOR ON FEBRUARY 11, 2019. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP TO HAVE PROBLEM CHECKED AND WAS INFORMED THAT HONDA NOW STATES THAT THIS CONDITION IS "NORMAL" FOR THIS VEHICLE AND THAT OIL CHANGES FOR OVERFILLED OIL CONDITION WILL NO LONGER BE DONE AT NO CHARGE. I SCHEDULED AN OIL CHANGE AND WILL HAVE THIS DONE IN ONE WEEK. CAR HAS 12,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. THIS SEEMS TO BE A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH 2017 AND 2018 HONDA CRV'S WITH THE 1.5 LITER TURBO ENGINE. HONDA NEEDS TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM OR OFFER A REFUND ON THE VEHICLE. THE POTENTIAL FOR EARLY ENGINE WEAR AND FAILURE SEEMS OBVIOUS DUE TO GASOLINE DILUTED OIL. ALSO, THERE IS SOMETIMES A GASOLINE ODOR IN OR NEAR THE VEHICLE.
