I HAD THE CAR FOR ONLY ONE YEAR. AT 122,000 MILES THE TRANSMISSION FAILED.
VEHICLE VIBRATING WHILE ACCELERATING, REPLACED TIRES, BRAKES AND CHECKED EVERYTHING ELSE, BUT IT IS STILL VIBRATING SPECIFICALLY WHEN ACCELERATING.
MY 2010 HONDA ODYSSEY WITH 85,000 MILES VIBRATED EXCESSIVELY BETWEEN 40 AND 60 MPH ESPECIALLY WHEN DRIVING UPHILL. THE HONDA DEALERSHIP CONTACTED AMERICAN HONDA TO GET THE TORQUE CONVERTER REPLACED. I LEARNED OF THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT FOR THIS EXACT ISSUE WHICH COVERED UP TO MODEL YEAR 2009 BUT NOT 2010 EVEN THOUGH IT USES THE SAME PART. HONDA AMERICA WOULD ONLY OFFER ME A 40% DISCOUNT ON THE SERVICE. I CALLED AMERICAN HONDA MYSELF BUT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE ENTIRE COST OF THE REPAIR. THIS IS A PREMATURE FAILURE OF THE THE TORQUE CONVERTER AND SHOULD BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.
2010 HONDA ODYSSEY WAS BROUGHT TO DEALER FOR RECALL SERVICE, 14-032 FUEL PUMP MODULE LEAK, AFTER NOTIFICATION IN AUGUST 2015. UPON COMPLETION, THE SERVICE REPORT INDICATED THAT A PCM SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS ALSO APPLIED FOR LOCK-UP CLUTCH FUNCTION PER RECALL 09-053 ODYSSEY LC JUDDER. WHILE WE HAD EXPERIENCED TRANSMISSION JUDDER AND VIBRATION WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS ACCELERATING BETWEEN 25 TO 35 MPH, WE WERE NOT AWARE OF ANY NOTIFICATION OR RECALL AT ALL. AROUND JULY 2016, THE TRANSMISSION JUDDER AND HESITATION, COMBINED WITH SOME SUDDEN ACCELERATION CAME BACK AND WE SCHEDULED TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO THE SAME DEALER FOR INSPECTION IN EARLY AUGUST 2016. THE SERVICE ADVISOR SAID THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY AND A MINIMUM HOURLY LABOR CHARGE OF $115 WOULD APPLY FOR DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM. AT THE END, THE SERVICE REPORT INDICATED THAT FLUID LEVEL WAS GOOD, TRANSMISSION JUDDER WAS CONFIRMED TO OCCUR BETWEEN 20 - 40 MPH ON ROAD TEST, AND THE TORQUE CONVERTOR SHOULD BE REPLACED AT AN ESTIMATED COST OF $1,900 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. WE CALLED HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE ABOUT IT AND RECEIVED NO ASSISTANCE. THE TORQUE CONVERTOR ON THIS VEHICLE IS APPARENTLY A DEFECT AND HONDA OFFERED ONLY A TEMPORARY QUICK FIX WHILE THE TRANSMISSION WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. OUR ODYSSEY HAS ONLY 46,500 MILES ON IT, BUT THE WARRANTY PERIOD HAS PASSED. PLEASE HELP AND INVESTIGATE.
OCCASIONALLY AS I COME TO A STOP (APPLY THE BREAKS, THE ENGINE WOULD SURGE UP TO 5,000 RPM), THE VEHICLE WOULD LURCH FORWARD UNTIL THE I APPLIED ADDITIONAL PRESSURE TO THE BREAKS. THE ENGINE WOULD SHIFT DOWN TO THE IDLE CONFIGURATION. . I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2011 FOR MAINTENANCE THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID THAT WITHOUT THE REPLICATION THEY CANNOT FIX IT. THIS PROBLEM CAUSED 2 MINOR ACCIDENTS AND I AM AFRAID THAT SOMETHING MORE SERIOUS MAY OCCUR. *TR
AUTOMATIC DEVELOPED A HITCH AT ABOUT 40 MPH. JARRED VEHICLE. HONDA DIAGNOSED A DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION, SPECIFICALLY THE TORQUE CONVERTER. TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. I SEE A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR VEHICLES 2009 AND BEFORE IN YOUR DATA BASE THAT SAYS THIS IS INITIATED BY A SOFTWARE PROBLEM. SINCE THE 2010 IS THE SAME AS THE 2009, THIS IS LIKELY A SIMILAR ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 HONDA ODYSSEY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, THE VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATION AS THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON TWO OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, WHO STATED THAT THE THIRD CYLINDER HAD MISFIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. UPDATED 09/05/14*LJ UPDATED 12/4/2014 *JS
VAN HAS A SIGNIFICANT SHAKE (OR "JUDDER", SHUDDER, VIBRATION, OR SHIMMY) WHEN ACCELERATING BETWEEN 50 AND 75 MPH. ENTIRE VEHICLE SHAKES, SIMILAR TO ONE OR MORE TIRES BEING OUT OF BALANCE BUT MUCH WORSE. JUDDER GOES AWAY COMPLETELY AND INSTANTLY WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR. DURING THIS PERIOD I HAD THREE ALL-WHEEL ALIGNMENTS AND SEVERAL TIRE BALANCINGS, BUT NOTHING WORK. IT WAS ONLY RECENTLY WHEN I NOTICED IT ONLY OCCURRED WHILE ACCELERATING AND SO IT WASN'T A TIRE OR ALIGNMENT PROBLEM. *TR
WHEN APPROACHING A 4 WAY INTERSECTION. I WAS DECELERATING WHEN THE ENGINE/TRANSMISSION/BRAKES SEEMED TO LOCK CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO COME TO A VERY ABRUPT STOP. SINCE THIS TIME THE VEHICLE HAS EXHIBITED AN ISSUE (3 TIMES) UNDER ACCELERATION WHERE THE ENGINE WILL REV AND SLAM INTO THE NEXT GEAR. WE ALSO ARE HAVING AN ISSUE WITH VIBRATION WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE. IT IS MOST SIGNIFICANT BETWEEN 50-60 MPH. *TR
2010 HONDA ODYSSEY. CONSUMER STATES VIBRATION AND TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HE COULD FELL THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPING AND THE VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE WHILE DRIVING AT CERTAIN SPEEDS. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE CONSUMER'S CONCERN. THE CONSUMER STATED THE JUDDER CONTINUED TO GET WORSE. THE DEALER THEN STATED THEY COULD REPLACE THE TORQUE CONVERTER TO SEE IF THAT WOULD RECTIFY THE PROBLEM. *JB
AT 110,000 MILES I BEGAN HAVING TRANSMISSION SLIPPING WHEN SHIFTING FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEARS. THE PROBLEM CONTINUED TO GET WORSE UNTIL ALL SHIFTS WERE SLIPPING. THIS CAR HAS A LONG LAG (5 SECONDS OR MORE) WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE. AT 114,000, THE TRANSMISSION IS BEING REPLACED BY A 3RD PARTY TRANSMISSION SHOP. $2600 LATER, THE TRANSMISSION IS STILL HAVING PROBLEMS. THE SHOP CURRENTLY BELIEVES (THEY AREN'T SURE BECAUSE THEY STILL HAVEN'T GOT IT WORKING PROPERLY) THE FAILURE BEGAN WITH AN ELECTRICAL, POSSIBLY ECM, PROBLEM. THIS VAN HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED. *TR
I HAVE PURCHASE A HONDA ODYSSEY VAN 2010 MODEL AND FROM DAY 1 WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED IT SUDDENLY LOCKED ON LOW GEAR AND THE ENGINE IS RUNNING AT 4000 RPM WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND D LIGHT FLASHING. IF IT SUDDENLY DO THIS IT WOULD BE A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

THE CAR JERKS AND SLAMS INTO GEAR UPON ENTRANCE TO A HIGHWAY, WITH FURTHER REVVING AND LOUD BANGING SLAMMING INTO GEAR FOR THE NEXT SHIFT. BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND AND THEN 2ND AND THIRD GEARS. IT HAS NOT HAPPENED SINCE THEN. VERY SCARY. *TR
