BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW AND AT 20,000 MILES IT ALL STARTED TO GO DOWN HILL. MY CAR SHAKES & STALLS HESITATES BAD LOSS OF POWER ALMOST CAUSING ACCIDENTS ON A DAILY BASIS. I HAVE BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER 5 TIMES FOR THE SAME COMPLAINT EVEN LEFT IT THERE FOR 9 DAYS STILL NOT FIXED I HAVE A $398 PAYMENT FOR A CAR I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE. I WILL NOT PUT MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR I AM THAT AFRAID OF GETTING IN AN ACCIDENT. HYUNDAI DOES NOTHING NO ONE CAN FIX IT & EVERYONE HAS THE SAME COMPLAINT I DO ALL OVER THE INTERNET. THESE CARS NEED TO BE TAKEN OFF THE ROAD BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED!!! I PAY FOR A CAR THAT I KEEP PARKED THATS INSANE!!! MY CAR IS UNSAFE AND A ROAD HAZARD AND NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING FOR ANY OF THESE PEOPLE THAT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS ME. I HAVE EVEN BROUGHT VIDEO FOOTAGE TO HYUNDAI AND THEY JUST UPDATE MY COMPUTERS WHICH MAKES IS WORSE HALF THE TIME.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THERE WAS A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LONG ISLAND CITY HYUNDAI IN QUEENS, NY WHO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND COULD NOT BE SERVICED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,988.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 HYUNDAI SONATA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE OVER 40 MPH. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED SEVERAL TIMES WITH OIL LEAKING INTO THE HOUSING. THE SEALS WERE RESEALED AND THE HOUSING WAS REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER AGAIN WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT OIL WAS LEAKING INTO THE HOUSING UNIT AND CAUSED ACCELERATION FAILURE. THE GEAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000.

WHILE DRIVING MY CAR LOSES POWER. WHAT CAUSES THIS IS A LEAKING MANIFOLD. MY FRIEND HAS A 2015 SONATA WITH THE SAME ISSUE.

AT ABOUT 12:00 PM ON 7 APRIL 2017, I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT ON A MAJOR THOROUGHFARE (50 MPH SPEED LIMIT). WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN, I DEPRESSED THE GAS PEDAL, BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO MOVE. INSTEAD, IT HESITATED, BUCKED A BIT, AND THEN LOST POWER ALTOGETHER. I PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL AND, AFTER A COUPLE OF TRIES, THE CAR RESTARTED. AS I ACCELERATED, THE CAR EXHIBITED MORE HESITATION, THEN OPERATED NORMALLY. IRONICALLY, I WAS ON THE WAY TO THE LOCAL HYUNDAI DEALER TO PICK UP OUR OTHER VEHICLE AND MADE IT THERE. I REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO THE DEALER AND TURNED IT OVER TO THEM FOR DIAGNOSIS/REPAIR. THE DEALER COULD NEITHER DETECT ANY PROBLEM NOR DUPLICATE THE INCIDENT. ACCORDING TO THEIR WRITE-UP: "SCANNED FOR CODES. NO DTCS AT THIS TIME. FUEL PRESSURE IS NORMAL. 10 MILE TEST DRIVE AND UPDATE HAS ALREADY BEEN COMPLETED....UNABLE TO DUPLICATE..." THIS MORNING, I LEARNED THAT HYUNDAI HAS RECALLED 1.2 MILLION VEHICLES AND SYMPTOMS OF THE PROBLEM ARE EXACTLY THOSE THAT MY VEHICLE EXHIBITED. HOWEVER, MY VEHICLE IS A 2015 MODEL AND DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE COVERED BY THE RECALL, NOTWITHSTANDING THE PROBLEM I EXPERIENCED YESTERDAY. IN ANY CASE, MY VEHICLE HAS ONLY 26K MILES AND HAS BEEN WELL MAINTAINED BY THE DEALER. I SUSPECT IT HAS THE PROBLEM FOR WHICH HYUNDAI IS NOW RECALLING OVER A MILLION VEHICLES.

PROBLEMS STARTED WITH RATTLING NOISE FROM ENGINE, AND ENGINE LOOSING POWER/SURGING. THIS WAS 2 YEARS AGO WITH 20,000 MILES ON CAR, AND TOOK TO DEALER WHO APPLIED ECM UPDATE. WHICH IF ANYTHING MADE IT WORSE, AND CAR STARTED SURGING FORWARD IN SITUATIONS LIKE APPLYING BRAKES WHEN APPROACHING RED LIGHT. THIS HAS CAUSED ME TO NEARLY REAR END SEVERAL CARS, AND PUSHED ME OUT IN TRAFFIC WHEN ENGINE SURGES UNEXPECTEDLY. I HAVE MADE SEVERAL TRIPS TO THE DEALERSHIP, LIKE MANY OTHERS ALWAYS GET THE SAME ANSWER 'WE WERE UNABLE TO REPRODUCE ISSUE', AND EVEN WENT TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP TO RECEIVE SAME ANSWER. CAR STILL HAS SAME PROBLEM, IT HAPPENS FREQUENTLY, AND ALSO HAPPENS WHEN I HAVE HAD FRIENDS WITH ME OR DRIVE THE CAR. SO I'M NOT CRAZY, NOT DOING ANYTHING WRONG, AND BELIEVE HYAUNDAI IS TRYING TO WAIT FOR POWER TRAIN WARRANTY TO EXPIRE. SINCE I TRAVEL FOR WORK AND NOW HAVE 94,000 MILES ON THE 2015 SONATA SPORT.

ME AND MY WIFE WERE DRIVING TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ON A ROAD TRIP. WHEN ACCELERATING UPHILL, THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTED TO ABOVE 3,500 RPM'S. IMMEDIATELY THE FUEL CUTOFF AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I TRIED SEVERAL TIMES BUT NOTICED THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 3,500 RPM'S. I IMMEDIATELY WENT TO MANUAL MODE AND SELECTED A GEAR THAT WAS BELOW 3,500 TO MAKE IT UP THE "GRAPEVINE" HILL. SOON AFTER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WENT TO THE DEALER THE NEXT DAY AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE VCM MOTOR- CODE P0200A. IT WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THE DEALER SERVICE WAS GREAT. WE WERE LUCKY THIS MALFUNCTION DIDN'T HAPPEN WHEN MY WIFE WAS DRIVING ALONE AND NEEDED TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE OR DRIVE UPHILL. SHE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO ACCELERATE. *TR

I WAS DRIVING ABOUT AT 50 MPH ON A HIGHWAY WITH MY KIDS AND HAD ONLY 1 TO 2 MILES LEFT TO EXIT. SUDDENLY, I FELT SOMETHING WRONG IN THE ENGINE OR POWERTRAIN AS I COULDN'T ACCELERATE MY CAR. WHEN I TRIED TO HIT HARD ON THE ACCELERATION PEDAL, MY CAR WOULD ACCELERATE A LITTLE BIT, BUT NOT THAT MUCH. WHILE I STEPPED DOWN ON THE PEDAL, I FELT MY CAR WAS ROLLING UP AND DOWN. ANYWAY, MY SPEED WAS BEING REDUCED AS IT DIDN'T ACCELERATE. FINALLY, I EXITED THE HIGHWAY. I HAD TO STOP AT THE INTERSECTION AND THEN TRIED TO START, BUT MY CAR MOVED VERY SLOWLY AND HARD WITH THE ROLLING. IT IS ONLY 1-MILE DISTANCE TO MY HOME FROM THE INTERSECTION, BUT I HAD TO PULL OVER MY CAR TO A SHOULDER AS I FOUND THAT I COULDN'T NO LONGER DRIVE MY CAR WITHOUT INTERRUPTING THE TRAFFIC. I ALSO COULD SEE WHITE/BLACK SMOKE COMING OUT FROM MY CAR THROUGH MY ROOM MIRROR AND SMELL SOMETHING BURNT IN THE ENGINE ROOM. LASTLY, I HAD TO CALL A TOWING COMPANY FOR PICK-UP.

WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY, THE CAR UNEXPECTEDLY LOST ENGINE POWER; THE CAR ENGINE DID NOT RESPOND WHENEVER I QUICKLY STEPPED ON THE GAS PEDAL; THEREBY MAKING ANY QUICK DEFENSIVE MANEUVER IMPOSSIBLE. IT'S AS IF THE CAR ENGINE WAS STARVED FOR AIR AND BECAME UNRESPONSIVE FOR QUICK ACCELERATION. DEALERSHIP DETERMINED ERROR CODE P2600, INTAKE RUNNER CONTROL PROBLEM. DUE TO THIS PROBLEM OF IMPAIRED ACCELERATION GETTING, ON AND OFF MAJOR HIGHWAYS WAS PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS SINCE QUICK POWER WAS NON-EXISTENT AND AVOIDING OTHER CARS QUICKLY WAS NOT POSSIBLE. TRULY A SAFETY ISSUE!

ON 04/06/2016, THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE BEGAN TO RUN ROUGH AND HESITATED. LACK OF ACCELERATION, EVEN AT 4000 RPMS (TOP SPEED 20 MPH AT 4000 RPMS). THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO STALL AND REQUIRED THE GAS PEDAL TO BE PRESSED DUE TO LOW RPMS AT IDLE. THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT, WITH NO WARNING TO THE OPERATOR, AND POSES A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY RISK ON ROADWAYS WITH SPEED LIMITS ABOVE 40 MPH. NO ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON TO WARN THE OPERATOR. AFTER THREE OCCURRENCES OF THIS PROBLEM, IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS, THE VEHICLE, WITH ONLY 1,351 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE ON 4/7/2015. AFTER REPLACING, THE FUEL PUMP, THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE OWNER ON 04/10/2015. LESS THAN 2 MILES AFTER PICKING THE VEHICLE UP FROM SERVICE, THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN, ON A 50 MPH ROADWAY. THE OPERATOR WAS VERY CONCERNED FOR HER SAFETY AS OTHER MOTORISTS WERE SWERVING AROUND THE VEHICLE AND HONKING THEIR HORNS. AGAIN, NO ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON TO WARN THE OPERATOR. ONCE AGAIN, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP WITHIN 20 MINUTES OF INITIAL PICK-UP, FOR FURTHER REPAIRS. THE DEALERSHIP HAS HAD THE VEHICLE EVER SINCE, CHANGING MULTIPLE PARTS DEALING WIT THE FUEL SYSTEMS, AND HAS YET TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM TO DATE (04/16/2015). *TR
