I am submitting this complaint due to a potential safety-related engine failure that occurred while my vehicle was under dealership repair. My vehicle was dropped off at Huffines Hyundai on October 2, 2025, for a fuel injector issue and has remained under the dealership’s exclusive possession since that date. I have not driven or had access to the vehicle after drop-off. During the repair process, I was informed by dealership staff that an injector was seized in the fuel rail and difficult to remove. Although the injector replacement was documented as a short repair, the work was delayed and completed on October 16, 2025. Immediately following this repair, on October 17, 2025, the engine was documented by the dealership as having low compression. I was not notified of this condition until October 27, 2025. The engine damage occurred while the vehicle was under dealership control and immediately following a repair involving seized components. The diagnostic documentation provided to me is incomplete and does not include compression PSI values or supporting data. I am concerned that improper repair or handling may have caused internal engine damage, resulting in a condition that could lead to engine failure or unsafe operation. Due to the circumstances and lack of transparency, I do not feel the vehicle is safe to operate and am concerned about the risk of engine failure.

The fuel injectors failed on this vehicle, the vehicle’s engine light came on as I was driving and I took the car to the dealer where I purchased it from. The dealer told me.what the issue was and that they needed to keep the car because it was dangerous to drive.

The safety alert system on the vehicle alerted us five different times that the vehicle needed to be parked and checked immediately due to a Powertrain issue and each time we took it to the dealership because it is still under warranty at 47,984 mi. This last time they have had it for just over 3 weeks and said there are three or four of the same vehicle with the same issue that they are trying to get parts for. This is not coming up as a recall, but it has been an issue with safety because it tells us to immediately Park the vehicle and it loses engine power when accelerating which is very dangerous for navigating traffic. Insurance has not been involved as it is on warranty and there has not been an accident because of this issue yet. Please look into this because we do believe there should be a recall on this model. I know other people who are having the same issue with the same type of vehicle but on the Santa Fe. The issue starts out where they say it's just a gas cap. But then switching out the gas cap doesn't fix the problem.

Oct 2024 Crash

Vehicle has experienced, unexpected, slight and brief, acceleration 3 times at highway speeds up to 60 mph. The 4th incident was an uncontrolled acceleration when parking behind another parked vehicle. Car accelerated into the backend of parked vehicle. Operator was at a complete stop and needed to pull forward a few feet. They took foot off of brake and lightly pressed the gas peddle. The car unexpectedly surged forward hitting parked car. 1 day later we received an email from Hyundai Blue Link stating that "a possible condition with your Engine Control System has been detected" and recommends bringing in for service for a full system check. Both cars were damaged and Tuscon had to be towed to a repair shop.

At the end of May 2024 my car was diagnosed with a faulty fuel injector that caused sputtering and problems accelerating. I was driving on a busy freeway when my car began to shake and sputter and lose power. A check engine light came on when the car first started to shake and sputter. I was able to pull off the freeway but, in an area, where I was unfamiliar. I was able contact family nearby who assisted me in driving the car slowly to a Hyundai dealership about 15 miles away. This happened on a holiday weekend and I had to get a rental car as the dealership was unable to service the car for several days. The dealership diagnosed the car as having a faulty fuel injector and a new fuel injector was installed. On December 5, my car again started sputtering and shaking and had problems accelerating. It needed to be towed to a Hyundai dealership about 50 miles away from my home. I am currently waiting for them to diagnose the problem.

I purchased a Hyundai tucson 2022 in November 2022 and Ive been having great issues with the vehicle since. Ive had to bring the car in over 3 times in less than 2 years for powertrain issues. The first was in Oct 2023, then Nov 2023, followed by Jun 2024. Today is engine light is back on and the diagnostic code is saying Powertrain. The car misfires and there is little or no acceleration. This happened on the highway more than once and i was terrified. Also the car does this jerky shaking thing. When i spoke to the dealer about it they made it seem like an uncommon issue but after doing my research, there are lot of complaints about similar situations.

Transmission wouldn’t shift. Tried to accelerate from stopping at a stop sign and car wouldnt get up to speeds. Car shuttered when it tried to. The auto shut off light turned orange. No codes or check engine light came on. Shut car off and turned on and problem went away. Nobody has inspected it as it has not reproduced the problem. Several online forums state that I am not the only one to have this issue. Luckily this didnt happen on the highway otherwise that would have been very dangerous trying to merge on a highway.

On 10/17/23 I was driving about 55 MPH up a hill when the vehicle began to decelerate rapidly and would not accelerate. The vehicle was shaking and jerking and would not go over 34 MPH. I was fortunately in the right lane and was able to make a right turn into a long merge lane. I turned off the car and tried to start again, and it began shaking uncontrollably while making a strangled noise. I pressed on the gas and smoke began to exit the exhaust. I turned the vehicle off again. I waited about another 5 minutes to try to start the vehicle and was met with the same scenario as above. This time, all the lights on the dashboard turned on; car battery, engine, oil, etc. The brake pedal was also locked up, unable to depress to put the car in neutral. Had the car towed to the dealership and the service advisor indicated it was most likely the fuel injector. He started the vehicle and the same strangled sound and shaking started. The cabin quickly filled with the smell of gasoline. The service advisor stated that it would take maybe a week or more before the vehicle could even be seen as all service centers in the area were understaffed and backed up. No rental/loaner car is allowed to be issued until the car is diagnosed by the technicians. Earlier in the day, the Bluelink app was not functional to remotely start the vehicle. Attempted to remote start the vehicle from two devices, no success. Called Bluelink and the rep had me delete and redownload the app, reset the system in the car by pressing the small reset button, and even tried to send a remote start request from her end and was unsuccessful. She stated a ticket for further assistance is needed. On 10/19/23, the Bluelink app notified me of an issue in the car: DTC P030200 POWERTRAIN. I have read other reports of this occurring in this vehicle. Huge safety issue, especially when on highways. Still waiting on Hyundai to service the call. I hope all fuel injectors are replaced instead of one.

System failure: Powertrain/transmission. Safety: Driver is stranded without vehicle four hours from home. Driver and passenger could have been rear-ended when vehicle stalled and slowed. Confirmed and Inspected: Vehicle was towed at Hyundai's expense to local dealership but cannot be examined for 9 days. Warning: Engine light came on and vehicle was immediately parked. Symptoms: The 2022 Hyundai Tucson was purchased new on April 14, 2022, and has only 13,800 miles on it. Early in September 2023 when accelerating, the tachometer went way too high; and the vehicle stalled like it was in neutral. Four times on September 15, 2023, at 60 MPH, the vehicle jerked like it was going over rough pavement and fish tailed in the rear end. On September 16, 2023, at 60 MPH, the vehicle again acted like it was on rough pavement. When slowed for in-town traffic a few minutes later, the vehicle began jerking and shuddering constantly at around 30 MPH and would go no faster. The vehicle was barely able to go up a small incline, and the engine light came on. The vehicle was parked immediately. Today, September 18, 2023, Hyundai Customer Care towed the vehicle, at its expense, to the closest Hyundai dealer four hours away from where the driver lives. The local dealership cannot look at the vehicle until September 25, 2023, at 2:30 PM. The dealership where the vehicle was purchased refused to tow the vehicle at its expense and would only say "We can't do anything until we look at it." The dealer stated the vehicle has a misfiring cylinder caused by a No. 4 fuel injector. The fuel injector has been ordered, but the vehicle is still at the dealership.

The contact owns a 2022 Hyundai Tucson. The contact stated while driving 40-50 MPH, the transmission was shifting hard, and was upshifting and downshifting independently. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had recurred several times while driving. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was test-driven, but the failure could not be duplicated. Additionally, the manufacturer sent a field technician out who could not duplicate the failure. The manufacturer then informed the contact that the vehicle was not experiencing a failure. The contact also stated that while driving 50 MPH, the Forward Collision Avoidance: Automatic Emergency Braking system engaged while there was no vehicles or objects nearby. The contact depressed the brake pedal to reset the vehicle, then depressed the accelerator pedal and continued driving. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times while driving. The contact stated that he was driving with the Adaptive Cruise Control mode engaged. The contact stated that while changing lanes, the vehicle failed to accelerate as needed. The contact stated that he disengaged the Adaptive Cruise Control and depressed the accelerator pedal to drive at highway speeds. The contact stated that the failure recurred on another occasion, then the vehicle independently accelerated to 80 MPH temporarily. The contact stated that while driving uphill and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to respond and decelerated. The contact was able to continue driving. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 670. The VIN was unavailable.

Sudden loss of power and speed on freeway traveling at 75 mph almost caused a rear end collision by tailgating semi. Pulled over onto shoulder with engine shaking and bucking and luckily limped off nearby exit. Engine control system error popped up. Engine would barely start and stall quickly and eventually would not restart at all. This is the cars second sudden power loss and engine problem at speed since. Not acceptable for a brand new car.

Feb 2023

First occurrence was on 6JAN23 when the vehicle was being driven and it suddenly and quickly reduced speed to under 30mph. Vehicle then continued to go up in RPMS to nearly 4,000 but the car felt like the transmission was not engaged and driving in neutral then would engage and disengage, causing fluctuations in speed, but never above 30-35 mph. This continued to happen until we could pull over safely and turn off the vehicle and restart. No engine light or warnings illuminated. Vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic and nothing was found. Second occurrence was 01ARP23, with exactly the same results. In doing some research I have found several other complaints with this issue. This is a serious accident waiting to happen.

My car has 7000 miles on it. Three times now when trying to accelerate the RPM went up to 3000 RPM and the engine acted as if it was hitting a Rev limiter. The car slowed down to approximately 10 mph. One was pulling out of my driveway interning a intersection and the others was when I was merging onto a major highway. All three times I was barely able to make it to the side of the road. I shut the car off and restarted it and everything was OK. The incidents happened a couple weeks apart.

Purchased a new 2022 SUV Tucson on 5/22/21. While driving on a busy street 6/7/21 during work traffic the vehicle just cut off without warning. With horns blaring I managed to coast to the right blocking traffic leaving one lane open for moving traffic. Vehicle after a couple of tries would start but would not move when gear was placed in Drive or Reverse. Hyundai Roadside Assistance notified vehicle towed to closest Hyundai Dealership. This was dangerous vehicles were almost running into the back of my SUV while abruptly stopping. I exited the vehicle while waiting for the tow truck in fear of vehicle being hit placing myself and others at risk of an accident. Informed by Asst. Service Manager at Hyundai Dealership that no one was trained to work on the 2022 TUCSONs at the Dealership. As a Public Safety measure at least some employees at each dealership should be trained to work on all newly released vehicles before they are placed on the market. Notified on June 15, 2021 that the vehicle has a limp mode/ limp node problem. June 16, 2021 I was informed by Hyundai dealership that the 22 TUCSON has a mechanical defect, transmission fluid was leaking which now the Transmission needs to be replaced. The newly purchased vehicle currently has only around 370 miles on it. I thought vehicles go through an inspection before leaving factory and after they reach the dealership before being sold. This I consider to be another safety issue anything can happen during transport. A repurchase/buyback from Hyundai wasn't approved. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Vehicle is ready and will be picked up from the dealership requesting an invoice of the repair work completed for viewing. This vehicle could have caused a catastrophic deadly occurrence
