I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR MY JEEP CHEROKEE 2015. IT HAS TAKEN ME A WHILE TO ACTUALLY FIND SOME TIME TO TAKE MY CAR IN FOR THE RECALL. I CALLED PRIOR TO GOING TO THE DEALER TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AND THE GUY AT SERVICE SAID I COULD JUST WALK IN. I WENT IN TODAY AND THE SAME GENTLEMAN SAID I NEEDED AN APPOINTMENT AND THAT THEY COULDN'T TAKE IT IN TODAY BECAUSE THEY HAD A LOT OF WORK. THAT IF I WANTED, I COULD LEAVE IT THERE UNTIL FRIDAY. THEY DON'T LEND YOU A CAR IN THE TIME BEING. I CAN'T LEAVE MY CAR THERE AND MISS WORK. SO I GUESS NOW I NEED TO WAIT ANOTHER WEEK OR SO TO GET THIS FIXED WHEN THE LETTER SAYS IT IS A SAFETY RECALL AND IT IS IMPORTANT TO FIX IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. IT WAS A BAD DECISION TO HAVE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,909.
VEHICLE TREMBLES ON OCCASIONS WHILE IN OPERATION AS IF IT IT'S GOING TO TURN OFF. ADDITIONALLY, THE MOTOR FEELS VERY FORCED ON OCCASIONS AND IT HAS STOPPED WHILE IN OPERATION IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE BACK SEAT DOOR HANDLES FALL OFF AND THE DASHBOARD KEEPS MAKING A RATTLING NOISE WHILE THE VEHICLE IS TURNED ON.

I WAS ON A ROAD TRIP AND STOPPED FOR GAS, I WAS PULLING MY SMALL TRAVEL TRAILER AT THE TIME. WHEN I WENT TO OPEN THE PASSENGER DOOR THE CAR WAS FILLED WITH SMOKE AND WHEN THE BACK HATCH WAS OPENED THERE WERE FLAMES COMING OUT OF THE SIDE PANEL ON THE DRIVERS SIDE IN THE BACK. THERE WAS A HIGHWAY PATROL RIGHT BY ME WHO RIPPED OFF THE PANELS AND GOT A FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND PUT THE FIRE OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT THE TIME. IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. IT TOOK TEN DAYS FOR IT TO GET TOWED BACK TO MY HOME TOWN TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP. THEY CALLED ME TODAY AND ASKED IF THERE WAS A LIGHTENING STORM WHERE I WAS AND IF IT WAS POSSIBLE I GOT HIT BY LIGHTENING, WHICH THERE WAS NOT. THEY HAVE SENT THE INFORMATION TO CHRYSLERJEEP AND ARE WAITING TO SEE HOW TO PROCEED. HE SAID THERE IS NOW NO POWER TO ANY PART OF THE CAR AND MENTIONED SOMETHING ABOUT HAVING TO POSSIBLY REPLACE THE ENTIRE BODY HARNESS AS THERE IS A COMPLETE LOSS OF CONTROLS AND FUNCTIONS OF THE JEEP. I BOUGHT THIS JEEP BRAND NEW ABOUT 14 MONTHS AGO. MY DOG WAS IN THE CAR AT THE TIME AND HAD I LEFT TO GO INSIDE THE GAS STATION I AM SURE SHE WOULD HAVE DIED. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED ABOUT THE ELECTRICAL FIRE IN MY PRACTICALLY NEW JEEP AND WORRY THAT EVEN A FIX IS GOING TO SOLVE THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN.

VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN DRIVEWAY AND ALARM WENT OFF AROUND 14:00 ON 10/11/2015. I TURNED OFF THE ALARM AND SAW SMOKE IN THE VEHICLE. I MOVED THE VEHICLE AWAY FROM ANY STRUCTURES AND CALL 911. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE AND TOLD ME THAT IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL FIRE THAT STARTED IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,400.

AFTER CONTACTING THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WERE STILL NOT AVAILABLE AND NO ESTIMATED TIME FOR RECEIVING THE PARTS COULD BE GIVEN. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.

THE REAR HATCH WON'T STAY CLOSED, CAN'T BE LOCKED. NO WAY TO KEEP HATCH CLOSED! MAYBE I COULD TAPE OUTSIDE OF HATCH? NOT TO SECURE!

THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED THEY LOOKED OUT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW AND SAW A GLOW COMING FROM UNDER THE VEHICLE AS THE PARKING BRAKE LIGHT AND ALL DASH LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER SAFELY AND EXITED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT FLAMES WERE EMITTING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND SHORTLY AFTER THE ENTIRE VEHICLE ENGULFED IN FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHERE IT DIAGNOSED DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,300.
