The auxiliary battery has failed at least 3 times (2018) and been replaced, as well as the main battery. When this happens the car is dead in the water, even the SiriusXM Guardian controls on the rear view mirror do not respond leaving you in dangerous situations. You are unable to contact emergency services for a tow, or emergency vehicles. The dealership said it was faulty batteries but has had to replace them one more time after replacing the ones they say were faulty by manufacturer. The dealership wants additional money for tracing the issue but the car is just out from warranty by a few months. Prior to this, the dealership did not trace to find any shorts and the batteries were confirmed to be malfunctioning. There are no error codes found when this occurs. Dealership has confirmed MANY Jeep Compass have had the batteries replaced.
The car stalls when slowing down to approach stop signs and intersections, and the power steering is lost causing a dangerous situation. One instance it stalled while driving on a highway at 55 mph which was frightening! Luckily I was able to glide off to the shoulder without causing an accident. The start/stop notification showed on my dash, advising me to restart the vehicle. I had to put the gear back into park and try to restart. It took a couple of tries to restart the vehicle.
Was pulling into traffic and my car had a low oil pressure light come on and the car shut off almost got hit 3 days later the wiring system when crazy wouldn't let me shut the car off causing my car to over heat
When using the auto start/stop feature, the vehicle will stall at a stop once I attempt to move from a stop. It happens any time I use this feature, and I have to be sure to turn it off before driving. The most recent incident happened at a stop light, and morning traffic was behind me, causing a back up and potential wreck. We have replaced both batteries and it has not remedied the situation and at this point I am not feeling safe to drive my own vehicle.

The contact stated that while driving 25 - 30 MPH, and making a turn, the vehicle stalled. The low engine oil message was displayed. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after several attempts. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer performed an oil consumption test and reprogrammed the powertrain control module (PCM). However, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer. The dealer diagnosed that the oil level was near empty and that the engine needed to be replaced. The dealer informed the contact that the manufacturer would not cover the cost of repair since the vehicle was not under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 55,000.

The vehicle failed to start on several occasions. The contact purchased a jump box. The shift lever in park, emergency brake, auto start, and traction control warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer and diagnosed that the vehicle needed to be reset. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The failure mileage was 43,000.

The failure was experienced several times. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the push to start button remained illuminated after the failure occurred. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after waiting a few minutes and regained normal vehicle functionality. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.
On 3 separate occasions since we purchased the vehicle, the Start/Stop function, where it shuts down at a light or Stop sign, has failed to restart the vehicle upon pressing the gas pedal. We have had to have the vehicle towed for service each time, and they are now replacing the starter again after having replaced it and the fuse link, as well as battery issues related to the start/stop function. Each time, this has happened in intersection (stop light). We have almost been rear ended or hit because the vehicle is now impeding the flow of traffic and has to be put into neutral and pushed off the road, then towed, as it will not start back up without repair. We have always taken it to an official MOPAR/CDRJ service center for repair. It has less than 16,000 miles on it. There was no warning or indication this was going to occur each time, it just fails to start back up after the start/stop function activates.
FOR MONTHS MY JEEP HAS HAD ISSUES. ALL THE DASH LIGHTS WILL LIGHT UP WARNING ME OF ISSUES. THE JEEP HAS STOPPED DEAD WHILE DRIVING AND NO WARNING . THERE ARE TIMES I START THE JEEP AN LIGHTS COME SO I TURN IT OFF AND RESTART AND THE LIGHTS GO AWAY. OTHER TIMES I WILL BE DRIVING AND THE LIGHTS COME ON. I HAVE REPLACED BOTH BATTERIES, A PLUG UNDER THE HOOD, AND THE PCM MODULE WAS REPAIRED BY A DEALERSHIP. TODAY I WAS DRIVING AN ALL LIGHTS CAME ON, THE JEEP SHUT OFF, AND IT TOOK ALMOST 20 MINUTES BEFORE THE JEEP WOULD START. I HAD IT PUT ON A DIAGNOSTIC MACHINE TODAY AND THEY SUGGESTED TAKE BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP DUE TO CODES. THESE ARE THE CODES C2502, P2504, AMD P2AF5. I WAS TOLD I NO LONGER AM COVERED UNDER WARRANTY HOWEVER THIS HAS BEEN ONGOING AND ITS A 2018 JEEP. *TR
CAR NEEDED A NEW ENGINE ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO FOR BURNING OIL. DURING THIS TIME I STALLED ON A BUSY ROAD AND SOMEONE ALMOST HIT ME. LAST WEEK I WAS IN FLORIDA AND MY CAR WOULD NOT START, IT THEN STARTED SMOKING UNDERNEATH AND A SMALL FIRE WAS STARTED. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP AND IS CURRENTLY STILL THERE WITH AN CHRYSLER ENGINEER COMING TO INSPECT WHAT HAPPENED. I HAVE ATTACHED A COPY OF THE TEXT MESSAGE EXCHANGE WITH CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP IN FLORIDA TO DESCRIBE THE ISSUE. THE WHAT SOUNDS LIKE AN ELECTRICAL FIRE OCCURRED ON 2/6/21. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO. THIS CAR IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE.
CAR STALLED GOING DOWN THE FREEWAY WITHOUT WARNING, TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD LOW ON OIL, OIL CHANGED AND NO WORD OF OIL CONSUMPTION PROBLEM, ASKED AND GOT AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST AT DEALER TO WHICH THEY SAID 1 QUART PER 2000 MILES IS NORMAL. HAD INDEPENDENT OIL CONSUMPTION TEST DONE AT MASONS AUTOMOTIVE AND THE CAR IS BURNING 1 QUART OF OIL EVERY 747 MILES. NOW A RECALL TO REPROGRAM THE COMPUTER. THE CAR IS ALSO ON ITS 3RD SET OF BATTERIES DUE TO BATTERY FAILURE, BOTH BATTERIES HAD FAILED LEAVING US STRANDED AS THE BATTERIES FAIL INSTANTLY. DROVE THE CAR AND PARKED IT, CAME BACK LITTLE LATER AND THE CAR WON'T START ALL WARNING AND ERROR LIGHTS START FLASHING AND CAN'T STOP THEM, HAD TO TOW THE CAR TO THE DEALER
I STARTED THE CAR AND EVERYTHING WOULD TURN ON EXCEPT THE ENGINE (VEHICLE STATIONARY). SOMETIMES THE BACK UP CAMERA IS BLACK AND WON'T TURN ON WHEN REVERSING (VEHICLE MOVING). THE ENGINE LIGHT RANDOMLY TURNS ON WHEN THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH THE JEEP (PROGRAMMING/ELECTRICAL ISSUE???) & A BUNCH OF OTHER LIGHTS, BUT THEN THE NEXT DAY IT'LL BE GONE; OR IT'LL BE GONE AFTER I TURN THE VEHICLE ON & OFF MULTIPLE TIMES (THIS HAPPENS WHEN VEHICLE IS MOVING ON HIGHWAY). ALL 3 OF THESE INCIDENTS HAVE HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES & I FEEL VERY UNSAFE DRIVING MYSELF & MY FAMILY IN THIS VEHICLE, BECAUSE OF IT.
MY 2018 COMPASS STALLED ON ME TWICE IN CITY TRAFFIC. CHECKED THE OIL AND THE DIP STICK WAS DRY. THE OIL LIGHT DID NOT GO ON.

THE INSTRUMENT PANEL INDICATED SHIFT TO DESIRE GEAR OR PLACE VEHICLE IN PARK. A SECONDARY MESSAGE STATED AUTOMATIC START COULD NOT BE DETECTED. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THREE RIVERS CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (2633 W LIBERTY AVE, PITTSBURGH, PA 15216), TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BATTERY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,800.
OIL CONSUMPTION OF OVER 1 QT-2QT OVER 2000 MILES OR LESS WITH ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATION AND ELECTRICAL ISSUES W/O WARNING. THE U CONNECT DISPLAY PANEL >GPS/ RADIO ETC. SHUTS DOWN BY ITSELF WHILE I'M DRIVING THE VEHICLE( IN MOTION) ,THE SCREEN GOES BLACK FOR NO APPARENT REASON, THEN RESTARTS ITSELF, ALSO WHILE I'M DRIVING AT ABOUT 35-40 MPH THE ENGINE OR MOTOR ( NOT SURE) MAKES A LOUD SOUND LIKE ITS DOWN SHIFTING ON ITS OWN, ALMOST LIKE ENGINE BRAKING?
I LEFT MY HOUSE AND DROVE ABOUT A MILE DOWN THE ROAD. I STOPPED AT A STOP SIGN AND AS I WENT TO PROCEED ONTO AN EXTREMELY BUSY ROAD MY 2018 JEEP COMPASS COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. IT WOULDN'T MOVE AND TOLD ME TO SHIFT GEARS THEN PRESS THE BRAKE AND START BUTTON. MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS WOULD NOT RESTART THE CAR. EVEN THOUGH I PUT IT INTO PARK, THE D ON THE SHIFTER WAS FLASHING AND A MESSAGE ON THE DASHBOARD SAID THAT IT HAD TO BE IN PARK TO START...EVEN THOUGH IT WAS IN PARK. IT TOOK BETWEEN 5-7 MINUTES TO FINALLY START RUNNING, BUT GAVE NO INDICATION OF WHAT THE ISSUE WAS, NO WARNING LIGHTS OR ANYTHING. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE A MILE TO MY DESTINATION WITHOUT ANY ISSUE, BUT WAS MOMENTARILY IN FEAR FOR MY LIFE AS THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN WITH NO NOTICE. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, I IMMEDIATELY MADE AN APPOINTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT.THE MAN WHO HELPED WE WHEN I GOT THERE SAID HE THOUGHT HE KNEW WHAT THE ISSUE WAS. HE SHOWED ME THAT THERE WAS HARDLY ANY OIL ON THE DIPSTICK. I REALIZE I WAS ABOUT 800 MILES PAST THE 5000 MILE OIL CHANGE, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT JEEP SAID IT WAS ACCEPTABLE TO BURN A QUART OF OIL EVERY 2000 MILES. THIS SEEMS EXCESSIVE TO ME AND EVERY MECHANIC THAT I'VE TALKED TO. I HAVE READ THAT THE ENGINE WAS DESIGNED TO SHUT OFF WHEN OIL IS LOW AND CHRYSLER CONFIRMED THAT. HOW DOES THIS PASS TESTING? THERE IS NO WARNING LIGHT AT ALL AND CHANCES ARE THAT YOU WILL DIE OR BE SERIOUSLY INJURED IF YOUR CAR JUST SHUTS OFF IN TRAFFIC. I AM GENUINELY CONCERNED FOR MY LIFE AND THE LIVES AND SAFETY OF OTHERS WHILE HAVING THESE FAULTY VEHICLES ARE ON THE ROAD. MY 2018 JEEP COMPASS STARTED RANDOMLY OVERHEATING. WE WERE STRANDED FOR OVER 5 HOURS IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. I HAD THE ENGINE THERMOSTAT REPLACED, AS THE MECHANIC THOUGHT THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. IT SEEMED TO WORK AND WE WERE IN OUR WAY. ABOUT 2 MILES FROM OUR DESTINATION IT STARTED OVERHEATING AGAIN. THERE WAS NO STEAM, NO EXCESS SOUND FROM THE ENGINE, NO NOTHING. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO ANOTHER MECHANIC AND HAD A FULL DIAGNOSTIC RAN, ONLY TO COME BACK WITH NOTHING. WE ARE CURRENTLY DRIVING THROUGH THE DESERT WITH THE HEAT ON BECAUSE ANYTIME YOU TURN ON THE AC THE ENGINE STARTS TO OVERHEAT, AND IT IS NOT EVEN 80 OUTSIDE. I LOOKED IT UP IN THE SEEMS TO BE A FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE JEEP COMPASS. WE HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO ON OUR TRIP STILL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MEADOR DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM LOCATED AT (9501 SOUTH FWY, FORT WORTH, TX 76140) AND SOUTHWEST CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM LOCATED AT (2235 N MAIN ST, CLEBURNE, TX 76033) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WAS NEEDED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE JEEP COMPASS 2018 CAR JUST STOPS IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING. THERE IS NO OIL LIGHT TO INDICATE IT IS LOW ON OIL. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD . THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE. THE CAR EATS OIL. DEALER SAID TO DRIVE FOR 2000 MILES AND BRING IT IN . I AM TERRIFIED OF DRIVING IT. IT NEEDS A NEW ENGLINE
I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE, VARYING ISSUES WITH MY 2018 JEEP COMPASS SINCE I BEGAN LEASING THE CAR IN JUNE OF 2018. IN THE PAST YEAR OR SO ALONE, THE CAR HAS HAD THE UCONNECT SYSTEM REPLACED OR FIXED 4 TIMES, THE BRAKES WERE RECALLED AND REPAIRED, IT BROKE DOWN ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD OUT OF OIL AT 6,000 MILES, AND NOW THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
FIRST MY RADIO CUTS OUT AT RANDOM TIMES. SECOND, I'VE BEEN NOTICING MY OIL LIGHT COMING ON MANY TIMES. I CONSTANTLY FEEL LIKE I'M PUTTING OIL IN THIS CAR. 3 RD, I WAS PULLING OUT OF A STRIP MALL WHEN MY CAR JUST SHUT OFF. THANKFULLY I WASN'T IN TRAFFIC YET. MANY TIMES WHEN I START MY CAR AND START MOVING MY CAR STALLS. THIS HAS HAPPENED TOO MANY TIME THAT I DON'T FEEL SAFE. EVERY 600-1000 MILES I HAVE TO CHECK THE OIL.
