The contact's mother owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that his mother had previously informed him that the vehicle would independently shift into different gears without warning. The contact was also informed by his mother that the service shifter warning message had appeared on the instrument panel. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer and was given an estimate for a diagnostic test. The contact then replaced the battery after the vehicle failed to start up as needed. A few months after the replacement, the battery failed again. The vehicle was then towed back to the dealer where they linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V240000 (Power Train); however, the vehicle was not included in the recall. The contact was also informed that the parts to fix the vehicle were on backorder. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact was informed that the vehicle was already serviced prior under the recall in 2017. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 15 MPH and slowing for a traffic light, the vehicle inadvertently shifted into neutral(N). The contact attempted to shift to drive(D) however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stopped the vehicle and attempted to shift into drive(D) but failed to. The contact turned the vehicle off and restarted while in neutral(N) and the vehicle would not restart. The contact moved the gear shifter to drive(D) and was able to restart the vehicle and the vehicle operated as intended. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.
Car keeps saying service shifter. Safety at risk car cuts off and on when I’m driving now the car won’t start completely. A lot off Jeep Grand Cherokee are having this problem. Components not inspected. Service shifter light just came on yesterday. Car won’t start today
when the acceleration is pressed harder than easing into it the shift progression fails. It will stick, in say 2nd gear, and rev up the motor but will not shift until the accelerator is released. it will then stick in 3rd and 4th if you get back on the accelerator too hard. in addition, the cruise was set at 60mph, running in 8th gear. the accelerator was pressed to pass a vehicle, the transmission dropped into 4th, revved up and stuck there. it would not shift back out until the cruise was shut off and the vehicle slowed to about 40mph and the transmission caught up with the vehicle speed, normal operation resumed. I think the danger of passing someone on a 2 lane highway in a vehicle that slows down instead of accelerating puts all parties involved at risk. We are taking it to the dealer today to see if the program needs updated. the only engine code showing is that the Evaporative Emissions Systems Leak Detection Pump needs replaced. We have done this twice, the code clears for 2 days and comes right back.
My shifter has been having issues with shifting the gear into the right position. For example, numerous times I would put the vehicle in park (by pressing on the break and moving it all the way forward) & it would get stuck in reverse and go backwards. This happened more times than I can count and that is a major safety issue that can cause an accident. I did my research and found that there has been recalls made for the same thing that I am claiming as well as several complaints. I’m currently at planet dodge servicing my shifter and it’s a thousand dollars out of my pocket which isn’t fair since this clearly seems to be an issue with the vehicle. I also submitted a case with Jeep customer care.
THE VEHICLE STALLS WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I WILL BE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 70 MPH AND SOMETIMES THE CAR WILL GIVE A JERK WHEN I ACCELERATE AND SUDDENLY THE VEHICLE SLOWS DOWN TO A STOP (GAS PEDAL DOES NOT WORK TO ACCELERATE) THE CAR SHIFTS ITSELF FROM DRIVE TO NEUTRAL AND A MESSAGE APPEARS ON THE DASH SCREEN "PUT VEHICLE INTO DRIVE". SOMETIMES THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON AND SOMETIMES IS DOES NOT. ONCE THE VEHICLE HAS STOPPED I'M ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR AND DRIVE AGAIN. THIS OCCURS AGAIN SOMETIMES MULTIPLE TIMES IN ONE DAY OR WILL HAPPEN ONCE EVERY WEEK OR SO. I WAS TOLD TO CHANGE THE TCM, BATTERY, SPARK PLUGS AND CLEAN THE FUEL INJECTORS AND THAT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. I'VE BEEN TO MULTIPLE MECHANICS AND CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTERS AND THEY CAN NEVER SEEM TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO THEY HAVE NO REAL ANSWERS AS TO WHY THIS IS HAPPENING.

Now a total of 4 times the contact stated that while driving approximately 30-35 mph the vehicle's gear shifter would slip from drive into neutral after driving a short distance. The contact stated that they would have to pull over to the side of the road to change the gear. The contact mentioned that during this time when the vehicle's transmission has slipped into neutral the display on the dashboard would be a white line with two red dots instead of the "N" for neutral. The contact stated that the dealer was not able to identify the cause of the issue. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR PART NOT BEING ORDERED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 79,000.

THE SHIFTER BEGAN JUMPING OUT OF GEAR ABOUT OCTOBER, 2020...WHEN I WOULD PUT IN PARK GETTING OUT IT HAD MOVED BACK TO DRIVE AND I HAD TO QUICKLY GET BACK IN AND PUT BACK IN PARK. THERE HAD BEEN AN EARLIER RE CALL, TOOK TO DEALER SHIP AND THEY SUPPOSEDLY FIXED WHATEVER PROBLEM WAS. AT TIME OF RECALL I DID NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS. AS TIME WORE ON I BEGAN TO HAVE SHIFTER PROBLEMS. THE LIGHT ON SHIFTER BEGAN TO GO OFF AND ON AND IT GETTING OUT OF SHIFT BECAME MORE FREQUENT ...TOOK TO DEALERSHIP IN SOUTHAVEN MS...SERVICE MGR SAID THERE HAD NO COMPLAINTS...MY RESEARCH SHOWED DIFFERENT...HE SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE PLACE BUT BACK ORDER...THIS WAS IN NOVEMBER. IT IS NOW JANUARY, 21 AND I AM STILL DRIVING AND THE SHIFTER IS STILL ON BACK ORDER, ACCORDING TO LANDERS JEEP THEY KNOW WHEN THEY WILL BE ABLE TO REPLACE WITH CORP SAYING THAT 357 SHIFTERS SO FAR ARE ON BACK ORDER...THAT IS ALL THAT THEY WOULD DO....THIS SITUATION IS NOT ONLY DANGEROUS BUT SCARY...CHRYSLER CONTINUES TO SHOVE UNDER THE RUG ISSUES WITH THE SHIFTER AND DOESN'T SEEM TO CARE ABOUT CUSTOMERS WHO NEED MORE THAN JUST LIES AND BLANK STARES.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER FRONTIER CHRYSLER LOCATED AT 5801 TX-327 SPUR, LUBBOCK, TX 79424 WHO WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
At times when starting out as soon as we depress the gas pedal the transmission jumps to park & we cannot shift out of park. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme nor reason to when it will happen. Nobody seems to find a reason for it so they can't fix it. We have found that if we unhook the battery & let it sit for a little bit it will work again. It has started happening more often in the last year. This is not only frustrating it can be dangerous according to where it happens. This is not a one time thing so I can't give dates or mileage. It has happened several times in the last week, but the first time was 2 years ago.

TRANSMISSION DOES NOT SHIFT PROPERLY FROM 2ND TO 3RD. WHILE IN MOTION IT WILL REV UP AND THEN SOMETIMES DECIDE TO SHIFT PROPERLY. IT HAS SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL WHILE DRIVING AND JERKED. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO 2 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS AND ONE STATES BECAUSE THERE ARE NO ERROR MESSAGES AND SUPPOSEDLY IT DOESN'T DO IT FOR THEM THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. THE OTHER DEALERSHIP STATED THAT'S HOW THE TRANSMISSION IS SUPPOSED TO WORK. I HAVE ALSO BEEN TOLD THE VEHICLE NEEDS TO WARM UP FIRST. EXCUSE ME? THEY TELL ME IT'S A NON SERVICEABLE VEHICLE UNLESS THERE ARE ANY ERROR CODES. ONE DEALERSHIP STATED THEY CLEARED THEY COMPUTER AND UPDATED THE PROGRAMMING. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. MOST RECENT ISSUE, JULY 9TH, STARTED TO DRIVE AND VEHICLE SELF SHIFTED BACK INTO NEUTRAL. VEHICLE IS BECOMING MORE UNRELIABLE EACH DAY.

THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AS OF YET. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE SHIFTER WAS REPLACED UNDER A RECALL COVERED BY A TWO YEAR WARRANTY IN THE PAST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,000.
RECALL# W58 THERE IS CURRENTLY NO FIX FOR THIS. OUR CAR STOPPED, WILL NOT START AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER WHICH IS WHERE WE FOUND OUT ABOUT THE RECALL. EVEN IF THERE'S NO FIX, SHOULDN'T WE THE CONSUMER BEEN NOTIFIED OF A RECALL THAT POSES A POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUE? I HAVE NO VEHICLE, WITH NO FIX AND THE CHRYSLER REFUSES TO PROVIDE A LOANER VEHICLE. OUR CONTACTS WITH CHRYSLER HAVE YIELDED NOTHING BUT A PROMISE FOR A CASE MANAGER TO CALL. NOTHING. NO VEHICLE, NO FIX, NO LOANER.
I PURCHASED MY GRAND CHEROKEE WITH 30K MILES. BEFORE I EVEN MADE MY FIRST PAYMENT, THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED THROUGH MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY. DAYS AFTER DRIVING IT OFF THE LOT, IT WOULD SLAM DOWN THROUGH GEARS DURING DECELERATION AND JUMP/JERK WHEN SHIFTING UP. A LOUD METAL THUD ACCOMPANIED THESE JOLTS BETWEEN GEARS EVERY TIME. FAST FORWARD TO TODAY, AND 25K MILES LATER (JEEP HAS 55K TOTAL) AND THIS PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE RETURNING. RANDOM JOLTS AND JERKY SHIFTS DURING ACCELERATION AND DECELERATION, SPECIFICALLY WHEN GOING UP OR DOWN A SLOPE OR WHEN GETTING BACK ON THE GAS TO ACCELERATE WHEN DRIVING. THE DECELERATION AND DOWNSHIFT BETWEEN GEARS IS SO JARRING SOMETIMES WHEN SLOWING DOWN THAT MYSELF AND PASSENGERS WILL HAVE OUR HEADS BANG FORWARD AND SEATBELT CATCH THE WEIGHT OF OUR BODIES. THE THUD NOISE IS COMING BACK RANDOMLY AS WELL WHEN THIS HAPPENS. WITH ONLY 5K MILES LEFT ON MANUFACTURER POWER TRAIN WARRANTY, I'M NERVOUS THAT HAVING IT'S 3RD TRANSMISSION IN LESS THAN 60K MILES IS GOING TO BE A FUTURE PROBLEM AGAIN NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY. I FEEL VERY UNSAFE WHEN DRIVING WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE MY DREAM VEHICLE AND THE LARGEST LOAN IN MY LIFE OTHER THAN PURCHASE OF HOUSE. SINCE THE DAY I LEFT THE LOT IT HAS FELT UNCOMFORTABLE DRIVING AND CAUSES ME ANXIETY BECAUSE OF THE WAY IT SHIFTS AND MAKES NOISES. AT A REGULAR OIL CHANGE SERVICE, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS AN ENGINE OIL COOLER LEAK FOR A 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH LESS THAN 58000 MILES ON IT. NO WARNING INDICATORS WERE ILLUMINATED. DEAL REQUESTED TO HAVE IT REPLACED BECAUSE IT'S DANGEROUS DRIVE. *TR
I HAVE BEEN AWARE THAT MY MODEL OF JEEP HAS A HISTORY OF PROBLEMS AND LEGAL SUITS CONCERNING THE GEAR SHIFT. MY JEEP IS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AS DECODED BY THE VIN. THE SHIFT SELECTOR HAS ALL OF A SUDDEN BEEN SAYING SERVICE SHIFTER. AND AS THE DAYS HAVE GONE BY THE PROBLEM IS GETTING WORSE. NOW IF I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK IT INDICATES THAT IT IS IN PARK ON THE DASH, WHEN I LET GO OF THE BRAKE WITHOUT TOUCHING ANYTHING IT THEN GOES INTO NEUTRAL ON ITS OWN. THIS HAS CAUSED MULTIPLE TIMES NOW WHERE I HAVE STEPPED OUT OF THE CAR OR TURNED IT ALL THE WAY OFF WHILE IT INDICATED IT WAS IN PARK BUT IN FACT IT HAD SWITCHED ITSELF TO NEUTRAL CAUSING THE CAR TO ROLL. LUCKILY IT HAS NOT CAUSE ANY HARM TO PERSONS OR PROPERTY. THIS IS A SERIOUS CONCERN/DEFECT IN THE WAY IT IS OPERATING AND IT IS PUTTING THE PUBLIC SAFETY IN JEOPARDY. I HAVE SEARCH AND IT SAYS THERE ARE NO ACTIVE RECALLS FOR THIS PROBLEM OR IN FACT ANY FOR MY CAR. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SERIOUS ELECTRONIC MALFUNCTION AND SHOULD NOT BE A RESPONSIBILITY OF MINE TO FIX. IN THE DAYS OF MANUAL (LEVER ACTION) GEAR SHIFTERS THIS WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ELECTRONIC ISSUE AS THE COMPUTER IS SOMEHOW CHANGING THE GEAR FROM PARK TO NEUTRAL ON ITS OWN. IN A CONVENTIONAL GEAR SELECTOR YOU WOULD HAVE TO PHYSICALLY GO THROUGH REVERSE TO GET TO NEUTRAL FROM PARK. WITH ELECTRONICS THESE DAYS THERE IS NO HUMAN ERROR OF ACCIDENTALLY MOVING DOWN TO NEUTRAL. IT IS DOING THIS ALL ON ITS OWN AND IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFUL OR PAYING ATTENTION IT COULD CAUSE THE CAR TO ROLL DOWN A HEEL OUT OF CONTROL WITH NOBODY INSIDE TO STOP IT. OR EVEN WORSE WHILE MY 8 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER IS INSIDE AND I GET OUT OF THE CAR TO GO TO THE BACK TO GET HER AND IT START ROLLING.... PLEASE ASSIST AND LOOK INTO THIS VERY IMPORTANT AND CONCERNING ISSUE. HAS BEEN OCCURRING OVER THE PAST MONTH RANDOMLY. *TR
2015 GRAND CHEROKEE ALTITUDE- 3.6L. JUST HIT 95000 MILES AND SUDDENLY CAR CONTINUES TO UP SHIFT TO 8TH GEAR EVEN AT LOWER SPEEDS. WHEN ACCELERATOR IS DEPRESSED, CAR WILL DOWNSHIFT BUT WITH NO ACCELERATION DEPRESSED, CAR WILL MOVE ALL THE WAY TO 8TH. DOWNHILL, TRANS WON'T SHIFT BEYOND 3RD GEAR LIKELY TO ENGINE BRAKING ONLY. THIS IS MY 5TH JEEP AND MY 4TH TIME DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE ACROSS MY JEEPS.
EVAPORATOR CORE BEHIND THE DASH HAS DEVELOPED A LEAK AFTER 65,000 MILES, WITHOUT ANY OFF ROAD USE OR BEING INVOLVED IN ANY CRASHES. PAID $50,000. FOR THIS VEHICLE AND EXPECTED IT TO LAST LONGER, ESPECIALLY WITHOUT A $3000 REPAIR THAT IS A NOT A RESULT OF WEAR AND TEAR.
