The drivers side seatbelt will not catch or retract. I went to an independent shop who contacted Jeep to order the part. They were told the part is on “extreme backorder” and it could be months before I could get my car repaired. My Jeep is not driveable. Based on the lack of availability of the part I feel this should be classified as a safety recall.
I simply want to report the long delays (months) in having faulty front seat belt assembly replaced. I had to personally research this as local dealers were 'not aware'. 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee owners reporting malfunctioning or delayed front seatbelts as critical safety defect that directly impacts occupant protection, and reporting it will track issues and potentially compel manufacturer into faster action, even though this specific issue is now under a warranty extension rather than a recall. The fact that it's a warranty replacement under an extended warranty/bulletin should not result in long delays given the potentially life-threatening problem contributing to overall vehicle safety. Are we waiting for a fatality to have the replacement parts become more readily available, given the Warranty Bulletin (D-21-04) was issued way back in 2021? I should hope not. Or is this a case of, it is what it is (with regards to the delay). Currently, customer service is now telling me the required part will be available March 6, 2026 ... three months after my identifying the cracked seat belt assembly problem. I just want to know if this is (acceptable) reasonable for a life safety issue?
Passenger seat belt did not retract. No accident or any incident that led to it, normal use. Then noticed the plastic portion where the seat belt feeds is cracked and obstructing it from retracting without feeding it manually back through the shoot
Passenger seatbelt does not retract at all. Only 60k miles.
January 2, 2025 - the front passenger seat belt failed to retract. Since we always use the seatbelts when in our vehicle, we have not had anyone sit in that seat since. There were no warning lights, messages or hint of a problem prior to this failure. January 30, 2025 took the vehicle to the local Jeep dealer to have the problem looked at. Per the service order, seat belt was inspected using X90 instructions and it failed. Replacement part ( 1VL06DX9AG) was ordered and I was told it would be 2-4 weeks before the part would be available. February thru early May I would visit the local Jeep dealer, as well as other Jeep dealers I may drive by, to see if the part was available and I was told it was backordered and the waiting list for it was growing. May 28, 2025 - Jeep dealer service rep called me to say that it was still back ordered with no idea on when part would be coming in. Until repaired I remain unable to use the front passenger seat.
The passenger seatbelt is broken, will not retract whatsoever!!
Seat belt locks and is not functional
Drivers side safety belt does not retract and stays loose
Front passenger seat belt will not retract
My passenger seatbelt does not retract as it should.
Seatbelt does not retract
Drivers seat belt not retracting.
Passenger seatbelt will no longer retract as the guide seems to be cracked and broken. Because of this the broken piece is pinching the seat belt down not allowing it to work properly. Seat belt can be guided back in manually but not on its own the way it’s supposed to. Please consider issuing a recall as this is a very dangerous issue in case the vehicle is involved in an accident. Shops are charging $3300 + to fix this issue that seems be very common for this year make and model
SEAT BELT IS NOT RETRACTING. FEELS UNSAFE.
The seat belt will not latch properly, it can take up to 10 minutes or longer fasten the driver's side seat belt. Now that I have it locked, I have to crawl in and out of the seat belt. I dare not unlock the seat belt in fear that I will not be able to get it to lock back. Please note, each time I have locked and unlocked the seat belt it has progressively gotten worse to lock the seat belt. I am at the point where I now longer unlock my seat belt, as I states earlier, I fear that I will not be able to lock it back.
My passenger side seatbelt does not retract. The plastic “D” ring at the top is broken and it causes the seat belt to not retract. I have read that many people have this issue. I contacted my dealer and they said there was no recall on this part. Because it does not retract, it doesn’t “catch” and causes a safety hazard. A passenger would not be restrained in an accident.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving 15 MPH at night on a road construction site, the vehicle's front end suddenly declined on a 10 ft deep road surface. The contact stated that she immediately depressed the brake pedal; however, the front driver's side seat belt failed to restrain her as needed, and she hit her head against the steering wheel. The contact was able to exit the vehicle. The contact sustained a concussion and two black eyes but did not receive medical assistance. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot. The contact then drove the vehicle to the residence. The contact stated that the failure occurred due to the seat belt D-ring wear. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the front driver's side seat belt assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 123,000.
My driver side seatbelt no longer retracts, and is not functioning.
The seatbelt plastic tensioner guide cracked and now the seatbelt won’t retract
The drivers side seatbelt was not retracting correctly. We we’re taking a road trip on 95 and as a passenger I notice my seatbelt was very loose on me. When we stopped to get out, the seatbelt literally fell out the car door. We need to drive about 150 miles back home tomorrow and we are scared to death of being thrown through the windshield if there is a sudden braking or accident. I call the closest Jeep service center and they said there was no recall for the seatbelt not retracting. However, I found this in a google search: Front Outboard Seat Belts May Not Retract Properly - X90 Warranty Extension Date: 4/15/2021 Models: • 2014-2015 Grand Cherokee Laredo • 2014-2015 Grand Cherokee Limited • 2014-2015 Grand Cherokee Overland • 2014-2015 Grand Cherokee SRT • 2014-2015 Grand Cherokee Summit Summary: Customers may comment on one or more of the following: The front driver and or passenger seat belts may not retract properly; A front seat belt D-ring plastic is cracked.

Passenger Rear Seat Belt is Jammed and will not extend properly. It is completely useless and will cost $940+ to fix.
The driver side seatbelt will not retract. This is a significant risk in the event of an accident. Yes, my local mechanic has confirmed that the seatbelt is not retracting.
Glockner of Ashland KY has determined that both front seats belts will not retrace. I understand that the warranty is extended for 15 years. I have been waiting for several months, they tell me they are on back order. My wife drives this vehicle every and this is s serious safety issue. Thank you in advance for your help. Please help us.
