WHEN DRIVING MY VEHICLE THE CLUTCH DROPS DOWN TO THE FLOOR MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT IF POSSIBLE TO PUT IT IN A GEAR. IT GETS TO A POINT WHERE YOU CAN NOT PUT THE CAR IN 1ST GEAR AT ALL. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE I HAVE OWNED THE CAR. I HAVE TRIED TO GET WITH NISSAN TO REPAIR THE DEFECTIVE VEHICLE AND ALL THEY SAY IS THAT THEY CAN NOT GET THE PROBLEM TO REPEAT FOR THEM. IT USUALLY CORRECTS ITSELF FROM AROUND ONE HOUR TURNED OFF TO A FEW DAYS BEFORE THE CLUTCH WOULD GET BACK TO THE NORMAL POSITION. THIS HAS PUT ME AND MY FAMILY IN A VULNERABLE SITUATION WHERE I HAD ALMOST VEERED OFF THE ROAD AND STRAIGHT INTO A GAS STATION. THIS REALLY NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY THE MANUFACTURE AND TAKE THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THERE DEFECTIVE ENGINEERING. ITS ALL OVER THE INTERNET WHERE NISSAN ALTIMA OWNERS HAVE THE SAME SERIOUS ISSUES WITH THE INFAMOUS CLUTCH DROPPING DOWN TO THE FLOOR WHERE YOU CAN NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE AT ALL!

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE AND SHIFTING INTO DIFFERENT GEARS, IT WOULD NOT MOVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFED AND THEY WERE UNAWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 92,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

1. FOR THE PAST YEAR THE CLUTCH PEDAL DEPRESSES TO THE FLOOR DURING PERIODS OF INCREASED USE. STARTED OUT HAPPENING ONCE EVERY OTHER WEEK. CLUTCH WOULD STILL ENGAGE UNTIL FRIDAY JUNE 3RD, 2011. CLUTCH FAILED TO ENGAGE IN TRAFFIC. 2. FAILURE STARTS DURING INCREASED USE, HEAVY TRAFFIC, & DURING HOT DAYS, ESPECIALLY WHEN AIR CONDITIONER IS USED. INCIDENT STARTED OCCURRING ABOUT 1 YEAR AGO AND HAS INCREASED IN FREQUENCY, HAPPENING NOW AT LEAST 5 TIMES A WEEK. SOMETIMES IT WILL HAPPEN 3 TIMES A DAY. WHEN IT FINALLY FAILED I WAS IN TRAFFIC & UNABLE TO SHIFT ANY GEARS. 3. MANAGED TO DRIVE CAR TO REPAIR SHOP WHERE I WAS TOLD THE CLUTCH HAD COMPLETELY FAILED. HAVING IT REPLACED NOW. CAR IS ONLY AT 60,000 MILES. NISSAN FORUMS HAVE MANY OWNERS EXPERIENCING SAME PROBLEMS WITH THE CLUTCH FAILURE.

WHEN THE WEATHER GETS HOT, MY CLUTCH MEDAL BECOMES VERY LOSE (OR PERHAPS LOSES THE HYDRAULIC PRESSURE?) AND DROPS, SUCH THAT I CAN ONLY CHANGE GEARS WITH THE LAST INCH OR SO OF THE PEDAL. SOMETIMES IT GETS SO BAD THAT THE PEDAL DROPS ALL OF THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND THE CLUTCH CANNOT BE USED TO CHANGE GEARS. THIS OFTEN HAPPENS IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC ON HOT DAYS AND IS VERY DANGEROUS, AS IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN SPONTANEOUSLY. IT HAS HAPPENED EVERY SUMMER THAT I HAVE OWNED THE CAR, BUT HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO REPLICATE IT FOR A MECHANIC OR THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS THUS NOT ABLE TO GET IT FIXED WHILE IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY.

I PURCHASED A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA IN 2006 WITH 13, 000 MILES. SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING IT, I BEGAN TO HAVE ISSUES WITH A "SPONGY" CLUTCH...MEANING IT WOULD BECOME VERY LOOSE. OFTEN IT WOULD HAVE TO BE PUMPED AND THEN SHOVED INTO GEAR. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO A LOCAL NISSAN DEALER COMPLAINING OF THE ISSUES WITH THE CLUTCH. THEY HAD IT FOR A DAY AND COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. OF COURSE, BACK THEN IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. THE PROBLEM NEVER WENT AWAY. IN FACT, IT BECAME WORSE UNTIL IT WAS FINALLY A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS CLUTCH ISSUE WOULD OCCUR AT RANDOM TIMES IN DIFFERENT WEATHER MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO PREDICT OR AVOID. OFTEN, I WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC AND UNABLE TO SHIFT INTO THE NEXT GEAR. EVENTUALLY, I HAD TO HAVE THE MASTER AND SLAVE CYLINDER REPLACED AND THE ENTIRE CLUTCH SYSTEM REPLACED AT MY OWN EXPENSE. BOTH WERE TEMPORARY SOLUTIONS. AGAIN, I HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE CLUTCH. MY CAR CLUTCH NOW STICKS TO THE FLOOR MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO SWITCH GEARS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS. OFTEN I AM STRUGGLING TO GET THE CAR MOVING IN TRAFFIC OR AT TURNS PUTTING ME AND MY CHILDREN IN DANGER. BEFORE I PAY TO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE REPAIRED AGAIN, I DID SOME RESEARCH THIS TIME, AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG THIS YEAR AND MAKE OF NISSAN. TO ME, THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT NISSAN NEEDS TO ADDRESS AS IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR THIER CONSUMERS. I HAVE RECORDS OF ALL REPAIRS BEGINNING WITH THE INITIAL COMPLAINT. IN MY OPINION, NISSAN NEEDS TO BE ACCOUNTABLE AND RECALL AND FIX THE PROBLEMS BEFORE IT RESULTS IN A FATAL ACCIDENT. *TR

THE CLUTCH WILL LOSE PRESSURE LEADING TO THE INABILITY TO SHIFT. ONCE THIS STARTS TO HAPPEN, IT WILL HAPPEN RANDOMLY UNTIL THE CAR SITS FOR SEVERAL HOURS. THIS CAUSES UNSAFE SITUATIONS AT INTERSECTIONS AND ON THE HIGHWAYS DURING TRAFFIC. I HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND EXPERIENCE THE PROBLEM MOST OFTEN DURING HOT DAYS WITH LOTS OF STOP & GO DRIVING. OVER TIME/MILEAGE, THE CONDITION BECOMES MORE COMMON. THE DEALER EVENTUALLY REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. IT FIXED IT FOR AWHILE THEN IT STARTED HAPPENING AGAIN. UNTIL THE CONDITION WAS HAPPENING ENOUGH FOR THE DEALER TO DETECT THE PROBLEM, THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING. THEY EVENTUALLY DECIDED TO REPLACE THE MASTER & SLAVE CYLINDER AGAIN. *TR

2005 NISSAN ALTIMA SE-R MAN TRANSMISSION. THE CLUTCH PEDAL STICKS TO THE FLOOR. THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE IN A ONE YEAR PERIOD. I HAD THE CLUTCH REPLACED ONCE AND THE SLAVE CYLINDER ONCE. THE PEDAL IS STARTING TO STICK AGAIN. IT HAPPENS WHEN YOUR DRIVING. I DROVE TO A MOVIE, WENT TO LEAVE AND THE PEDAL STUCK TO THE FLOOR. WHEN THE PEDAL STICKS IT WILL NOT COME OUT OR GO INTO GEAR. THE CLUTCH IN MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA STICKS TO THE FLOOR; NO PRESSURE WHAT SO EVER. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 3 TIMES BEFORE. THIS TIME IT HAPPENED ON A BRIDGE IN A ONE WAY STAND ALONE LANE. IT HAD LOST MORE THAN 50 PERCENT OF ITS PRESSURE. GOOD THING I WAS WEARING SANDALS. WAS ABLE TO LIFT THE CLUTCH WITH MY TOES AND MAKE IT OFF THE BRIDGE. ONCE I GOT OFF, THE CLUTCH WAS NOT RESPONSIVE WHAT SO EVER. I PULLED OVER AND PARKED WITH THE CAR OFF FOR 20 MINS. CLUTCH STARTED TO WORK AGAIN'A MIRACLE. LAST TIME, IT TOOK OVER 5 HOURS FOR THE CLUTCH TO START WORKING AGAIN. IF I WAS IN TRAFFIC OR HAD TO MAKE AN A BRUNT STOP, BRAKING WITHOUT THE CLUTCH WOULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA.THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DEPRESSING THE CLUTCH WHILE SHIFTING GEARS, THE CLUTCH WOULD DROP TOO QUICKLY TO THE FLOOR MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO CHANGE GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER APPROXIMATELY SIX TIMES AND THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. APPROXIMATELY THREE YEARS LATER, THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED TROUBLE TRYING TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL GEAR WHEN THE CLUTCH PEDAL MOVED TOO QUICKLY TO THE FLOOR. AFTER REPEATED ATTEMPTS SHE WAS ABLE TO SHIFT INTO SECOND GEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN DIRECTLY TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE SPRING RETAINER WAS REPLACED. A BEARING-CLUTCH AND LIMITED SLIP WERE ALSO INSTALLED. APPROXIMATELY 2 MONTHS LATER THE FAILURE BEGAN TO RECUR. THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE IT WAS IN THE PROCESS OF HAVING THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,200.

BEFORE I REPLACED MY 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA 3.5 SE'S ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, INJECTORS, MASS AIRFLOW SENSOR, THROTTLE BODY, AND CLUTCH, I WAS HAVING ISSUES WITH THE CLUTCH LOSING PRESSURE. AFTER TAKING THE CAR TO NISSAN I WAS TOLD I NEEDED A NEW CLUTCH. I HAD IT REPLACED ALONG WITH EVERYTHING ELSE SHORTLY AFTER WITH OTHER MAJOR ENGINE REPAIRS DUE TO A BLOWN MOTOR AT 100,000 MILES. NOW MY CAR IS BACK IN THE SHOP AND AFTER TWO MONTHS WITH THE SAME ISSUE AMONG OTHER ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. I LOST PRESSURE AGAIN YESTERDAY AND DROPPED MY CAR OFF THIS MORNING. THEY WANT $370.00 TO REPLACE THE CLUTCH SLAVE CYLINDER. AFTER READING ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS, I FEEL THAT THEY ARE DEAD ON TRACK WITH THIS BEING A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME ITS HAPPENED TO ME EITHER. WHY HASN'T THIS ISSUE BEEN RESOLVED BY NISSAN, OBVIOUSLY THIS IS A TREND. DO I HAVE TO GET IN AN ACCIDENT WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE ABOUT THIS? MAYBE IT WILL BE YOUR FAMILY WE CRASH INTO?!! THE GEAR SHIFT SELECTOR WAS ABLE TO BE MOVED FROM THE DESIRED GEAR SELECTION WITH MINIMAL FORCE. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES HOWEVER, THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 400 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 9,200. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. THE DRIVER STATES THERE WAS A RECALL DONE ON THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE LAST YEAR AT 32,433 MILES. THE CONTACT STATES THEY HAVE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE UNTIL AFTER THE RECALL WAS DONE. THE VEHICLE WILL JERK WHILE DOING HIGH SPEEDS ON THE HIGHWAY AND RECENTLY WHILE DRIVING AT 25MPH THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF ON IT'S OWN. THE DRIVER THEN WAITED A MINUTE AND STARTED THE VEHICLE AGAIN AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE WAS 35,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 50,000.

I OWN A NISSAN ALTIMA SE-R, I PURCHASED THE CAR PRE-OWNED WITH 42K MILES ON IT. AFTER HAVING THE CAR FOR JUST A MONTH THE CLUTCH WILL SINK TO THE FLOOR AND I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SHIFT THE CAR INTO ANY GEARS. THIS HAS BEEN AN ON GOING PROBLEM SINCE I'VE OWNED THE CAR AND ITS GOING TO BE 2 YEARS OF OWNING THE CAR THIS SUMMER. MANY OF THE TIMES THE CLUTCH HAS LOST PRESSURE GOING OVER BRIDGES AND STOPPING TO PAY TOLLS AND DURING TRAFFIC. I OWN A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA SER WITH A KNOWN CLUTCH PEDAL ISSUE, IT WAS FIXED UNDER WARRANTY 2 TIMES AND THE 3RD TIME THEY REFUSED BECAUSE I WAS A FEW MILES PAST THE 35K MILE WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH THE REPAID WAS WITHIN THE 12K MILES THAT IT IS WARRANTIED FOR, I HAD TO GO ELSEWHERE TO FIX IT BECAUSE I NEED MY CAR. I THAS HAPPENED 2 TIMES SINCE THAN WHERE I HAVE TO KEEP PURCHASING PEDALS BECAUSE THE WELDS ON THE PEDAL DO NOT HOLD, IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE I WILL LOST MY CLUTCH AND CANT' SHIFT FEARS IN THE MIDDLE OF INTERSECTIONS. THIS PEDAL HAS BEEN REPLACED 5TIMES AND NOW NEEDS TO BE REPLACED FOR THE 6TH TIMES AND IT HAS DAMAGED MY CLUTCH, MY MECHANIC SAID DO TO THE STRESS FROM THE BAD PEDAL THE FORCED SHIFT ON MY CLUTCH HAVE CAUSE IT TO "SLIP" AND NOW I NEED TO PURCHASE AND HAVE INSTALLED A BRAND NEW CLUTCH THAT NISSAN WILL NOT WARRANTY EITHER. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE 2005 AND 2006 SER MODELS AND NISSAN WILL NOT DO A RECALL OR FIX THE PROBLEMS THAT COME WITH IT. MY MECHANIC HAS TOLD ME THAT IT IS BAD ENGINEERING AND THE ISSUE WILL CONTINUE TO HAPPEN SO I HAVE A SPARE PEDAL WITH HIM AT ALL TIMES. *TR

THE CLUTCH PEDAL WILL SINK TO THE FLOOR DURING DRIVING. SOMETIMES THE CLUTCH PEDAL WILL SINK SO LOW THAT IT LAYS ON THE FLOOR. WHEN THIS HAPPENS I AM UNABLE TO SWITCH GEARS AT ALL. I WILL HAVE TO PULL THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAIT FOR ABOUT 10-15 MINUTES. THE PROBLEM OCCURS AT RANDOM TIMES AND DOESN'T SEEM TO BE ASSOCIATED WITH ANY PARTICULAR EVENT DURING DRIVING. IT OCCURS DURING DIFFERENT TIMES OF DAY, DIFFERENT WEATHER TYPES AND AT DIFFERENT TRAVELING SPEEDS. THE ISSUE HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR ABOUT 3-4 YEARS ON MY CAR. IT WAS FIRST REPORTED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHILE THE CAR WAS STILL UNDER FULL WARRANTY WITH ABOUT 15,000 MILES ON THE CAR. THE DEALERSHIP CLAIMS THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO RE-CREATE THE PROBLEM AND HAVE NOT REPLACED ANY PARTS. THE LAST VISIT I TOOK IT IN THE TECHNICIAN TOPPED OFF THE CLUTCH FLUID, BUT THIS DID NOTHING TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE SPOKEN TO OTHER NISSAN ALTIMA OWNERS WITH MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS AND MANY ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH NO RESOLUTION. *TR

DEAR SIR, I PURCHASED A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA SER WITH A 6 SPD. MANUAL TRANSMISSION APPROXIMATELY 14 MONTHS AGO USED WITH 33,000 MILE AND FACTORY DRIVETRAIN WARRANTY UNTIL 60,000 MILES. MY CAR CURRENTLY HAS 59,000 MILES. ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO, I BROUGHT MY CAR TO IRA NISSAN IN WOBURN MA FOR A RE-OCCURRING CLUTCH ISSUE ; CLUTCH PEDAL SINKS TO THE FLOOR MAKING THE CAR UNDRIVABLE AND GRINDING IN THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING INTO THIRD GEAR. UNDER WARRANTY, NISSAN REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION AND CLUTCH ASSEMBLY. LAST MONDAY, A WEEK AFTER GETTING MY CAR BACK, THE CLUTCH IS ONCE AGAIN SINKING TO THE FLOOR JUST AS BEFORE, AND THE NISSAN DEALER IS SAYING BECAUSE THE CAN'T REPLICATE THE PROBLEM, THERE IS NOTHING MORE THEY CAN DO, LEAVING ME WITH A CAR THAT IS UNRELIABLE AND UNSAFE.THE CLUTCH FAILS INTERMITTENTLY AND USUALLY RETURNS WITHIN AN HOUR OR SO, MAKING THE CAR DIFFICULT AT BEST TO DRIVE IN TRAFFIC AND MAKING IT HARD TO REPLICATE ON CUE. THE CLUTCH APPEARS TO FAIL AFTER AN HOUR OR SO OF DRIVING OR AFTER IT GETS WARM, WITH NO WARNING. THE DEALER DROVE IT FOR 7 MILE AND SAYS IT CAN'T DUPLICATE THE ISSUE.. NISSAN CUSTOMER SERVICE SAYS THEY KNOW NOTHING OF THE ISSUE EVEN THOUGH THE INTERNET LISTS OVER 60 INCIDENTS OF CLUTCH PEDAL SINKS TO FLOOR ON 02-06 NISSANS WITH STANDARD TRANSMISSION, ESPECIALLY 05-06 NISSAN SER"S.- BUT THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF IT? MY CASE NUMBER WITH NISSAN IS 6600267. I USE MY CAR PRIMARILY FOR COMMUTING GLOUCESTER TO WOBURN AND BACK AND I TYPICALLY DON'T HAVE AN ISSUE, BUT IT HAS HAPPENED 6 OR SEVEN TIME NOW AND I KNOW FOR A FACT THIS WASN'T MENTIONED IN THE SALES BROCHURE FOR THIS MODEL NISSAN. THIS IS PROBLEMDANGEROUS, AS YOU CAN IMAGINE BEING STUCK IN TRAFFIC AND NOT BEING ABLE TO MOVE. AND NOT KNOWING WHEN YOU CAN RELY ON YOUR CAR, AND WHEN YOU CAN'T? THE MOTORIST AND LAWFUL OWNER OF NISSAN ALTIMA 2005 (29K MILES) WAS DRIVING ON CLOUDY BUT DRY JULY 21 '09, AT 9:50AM, 4.5 MILES FROM HOME TO THE UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT LITTLE ROCK. MOTORIST PULLED INTO THE PARKING LOT ADJACENT TO THE STUDENT CENTER, AND DROVE AROUND LOOKING FOR SUITABLE PARKING SPOT. AFTER ONE LAP AT CREEPING SPEED OF 5 MPH, MOTORIST FOUND AN UNOCCUPIED PARKING SPOT FACING THE WOODS. MOTORIST PULLED INTO AVAILABLE PARKING SPOT, NOSE FIRST, AND SLOWED DOWN. WHEN AFOREMENTIONED VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STILL STAND, MOTORIST THEN INTENDED TO SHIFT THE GEARSHIFT FROM THE 'D' INTO THE 'P' POSITION, GOING THROUGH 'N, R'. WITH RIGHT FOOT ON BREAK PEDAL, MOTORIST SHIFTED GEARSHIFT FORWARDS, WHEN THE GEARSHIFT SUDDENLY GOT STUCK IN THE 'N' POSITION. THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE, HOWEVER, UNEXPECTEDLY REVVED LOUDLY. THE VEHICLE SIMULTANEOUSLY ACCELERATED UNCONTROLLABLY FORWARDS, RUNNING OVER A 4-FOOT LONG, 8-INCH TALL CONCRETE STOPPER BLOCK, THEN GOING OVER THE 6-INCH HIGH SIDEWALK, AND INEVITABLY MOVING INTO THE WOODS, WHERE VEHICLE HIT A TREE AND FINALLY CAME TO A COMPLETE HALT, WITH GEARSHIFT STILL BEING IN 'N' POSITION. SHAKEN BY THIS STARTLING EXPERIENCE AND BY DRIVER'S AIRBAG, MOTORIST INSTANTANEOUSLY TURNED CAR'S ENGINE OFF BY TURNING THE IGNITION KEYS COUNTERCLOCKWISE. THE TRAUMATIZED AND BRUISED MOTORIST NOTICED SMOKE EMANATING FROM STEERING WHEEL, THUS DECIDED TO STEP OUT OF VEHICLE. AT 1ST GLANCE, THE COLLISION DAMAGED RIGHT FENDER, BOTTOM METAL FRAME, HOOD, RIGHT HEADLIGHT AS WELL AS BUMPER. WITNESSES ASSISTED MOTORIST IN ARRANGING TOW-TRUCK TO PICK-UP INCAPACITATED VEHICLE. IT APPEARS THAT THE CAUSE OF THIS ACCIDENT LIES IN MECHANICAL FAILURE: A DEFECTIVE TRANSMISSION. IT'S UNSAFE TO DRIVE A VEHICLE WITH AN UNDEPENDABLE TRANSMISSION. LUCKILY, NO PEDESTRIANS WERE IN THE WAY OF THE UNCONTROLLABLE VEHICLE. A THOROUGH INSPECTION OF THE CAUSE OF THIS ACCIDENT, AND A REPLACEMENT OF ALL FAULTY PARTS OR VEHICLE, IS HIGHLY ADVISABLE. *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN ALTIMA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE CLUTCH PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOOR WHEN IT WAS DEPRESSED. SUDDENLY, THE TRANSMISSION BRAKE ENGAGED AND CAUSED THE ENGINE TO STALL. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THE CONTACT EXPERIENCED DIFFICULTY SHIFTING GEARS AND HEARD A GRINDING NOISE. THE FAILURES OCCURRED ON FIVE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
