THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS CONTACTED AT 951-225-1309 AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER FAILED TO ANSWER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 141,595.

A LOCAL AUTO SHOP HAS REPLACED THE CRANK POSITION SENSOR TWICE BUT THE SAME OBDII CODE APPEARED AGAIN. THE CAR WILL CRANK BUT NOT START FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. THIS PROBLEM (WHICH IS ASSOCIATED WITH A RECALL BUT NOT FOR OUR VIN) IS ALSO ASSOCIATED WITH THE ENGINE SHUTTING DOWN DURING VEHICLE OPERATION, POSSIBLY CAUSING CRASHES. THE NISSAN DEALER HAS CLAIMED THAT THERE IS NO REPAIR NOR RECALL THEY CAN DO. I SUSPECT THAT NISSAN IS FAILING TO REPORT THE EXTENT OF THE PROBLEM WHICH HAS BEEN WIDELY REPORTED IN OWNER INTEREST GROUPS ON THE INTERNET.

TAKATA CRANKSHAFT AND CAMSHAFT SENSORS. HAD BOTH OF THEM FAIL ON OUR ALTIMA IN PAST 2 YEARS AT THE COST OF $800. WHICH THE DEALER HAS MADE US PAY FOR. THE CAR WILL RANDOMLY LEAVE YOU STRANDED AND WILL NOT START AT ALL. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON TOO. CALLED FOR TOWING BUT THEN CAR "MIRACULOUSLY STARTED" AFTER STRANDED FOR 1 HOUR IN DANGEROUS LOCATION. DROVE DIRECTLY TO DEALER. WHO RAN TESTS AND DECLARED SENSOR FAULTY. DEALER CLAIMS THE VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF THE RECALL... WELL I THINK SOMEONE NEEDS TO CHECK THE DETAILS ON THIS. OBVIOUSLY THEY MISSED ALL OF THE OTHER VEHICLES AFFECTED BY THESE FAULTY SENSORS THAT WERE MANUFACTURED DURING THE SAME TIME. VERY UNHAPPY CUSTOMER

THE MOTOR STARTED MAKING NOISE A WEEK OR SO AGO. THE TIMING CHAIN HAS BECOME LOOSE DUE TO FAULTY PARTS INSTALLED MY NISSAN. THE GUIDES FOR THE CHAIN BREAK WHICH CAUSES THE TENSIONERS TO FAIL AND THEN THE CHAIN GETS LOOSE AND BOUNCES AROUND THE HOUSING. NISSAN HAS KNOWN ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND TRIED TO HIDE IT AND SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE AND FORCED TO REPAIR THEIR FAULTY WORK.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, AIR FUEL SENSOR, AND THE OXYGEN SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED FOR THE OIL LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.

WE HAD THE SENSOR REPLACED 09/22/2015 DUE TO ENGINE SHUTTING OFF UNEXPECTEDLY AND WE LOST POWER STEERING AND BRAKES.!

BETWEEN 3,000 MILE INTERVAL OIL CHANGES, THERE IS SIGNIFICANTLY AMOUNT OF OIL CONSUMPTION. THERE IS NO WHITE OR BLUE SMOKE THAT IS VISIBLE FROM THE MUFFLER, NO OIL LEAKS ARE VISIBLE AND NO BURNING ODOR. WHEN CHECKING OIL FLUID BETWEEN 3,000 MILE INTERVALS, HAVE NOTICED THE OIL FALLING BELOW MINIMUM LINE ON DIPSTICK. ON THAT SAME NOTE, THE DRIVE WAY DOES NOT SHOW ANY SIGNS OF OIL LEAK COMING FROM THE CAR.

CODES INDICATED IT COULD BE THE BATTERY OR A CRANK, CAM SENSOR. BATTERY SHOWED BAD. PURCHASE NEW BATTERY AND ASSUMED EVERYTHING IS OKAY. I DROVE THE VEHICLE DOWN TO A STORE AND WHEN I PULLED INTO A PARKING SPOT IT STOPPED. LATER ON VEHICLE STARTED AND DROVE NEXT DOOR TO A AUTO DEALERSHIP. DEALERSHIP RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST INDICATING INTERNAL FAILURE IN CAM SENSOR. CODE P0340 STORED. VEHICLE REPAIRED.
