TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIBRATE AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 50 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RADIATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. PARKED PATHFINDER IN DRIVEWAY. I WENT TO LEAVE AND THE VEHICLE WON'T START. LIGHTS AND EVERYTHING TURNS ON. THE ENGINE WON'T CRANK UP. LOOKED UP SOME ISSUES WITH THE PATHFINDER AND MAYBE THERE IS A CROSS CONTAMINATION OF THE ENGINE COOLANT. *TR
NOT EVEN 3 MONTHS AFTER WE PURCHASED OUR USED NISSAN PATHFINDER.I HAD JUST DROPPED MY OLDER CHILDREN OFF AT SCHOOL AND MY CAR STARTED TO HAVE A HARD TIME. I KNEW I HAD TO GET MY VEHICLE TO SAFETY. AS I APPROACHED A INTERSECTION INTERSECTION ON A VERY BUSY MAIN ROUTE THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE AT ALL. I WAS SCARED BECAUSE THE SPEED ON THAT STREET IS 50+ AND I WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD WITH MY 7 WEEK OLD. AFTER BEING TOWED AND TRANSFERRED TO COASTAL NISSAN IN NORWELL MA. WE WERE TOLD ABOUT THE "RECALL" AND FORCED TO BORROW $2500 SO THAT WE COULD PAY TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. NISSAN TOLD US IT WASNT A SAFETY COMPLAINT. I BEG TO DIFFER! I WAS STRANDED ON A BUSY STREET WITH A NEWBORN IF WE WERE STRUCK THE OUTCOME COULD HAVE BEEN HORRIFIC. I HOPE SOMEONE WILL FINALLY DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC, WHO PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND NOTICE A DEFECTIVE EMS RELAY. THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE DEFECTIVE EMS RELAY. AFTER THE REPAIR THE CONTACT NOTICED NHTSA CAMPAIGN I.D. 10V517000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER TO SEE IF THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT NEVER RECEIVED NOTIFICATION FOR THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,648.
MY PROBLEM STARTED WITH MY 2005 PATHFINDER OVER A YEAR AGO,I WENT TO THE NISSAN DEALER THEY TOLD ME THAT I NEED TO DROP OFF MY VEHICLE FOR THEM TO FIX IT I ASKED IF NISSAN COVERING IT THEY SAID NO I HAVE TO PAY $2,500. THIS IS NOT MY FAULT IT'S THEIR PROBLEM. WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR THEM TO CORRECT THEIR PROBLEM WITH A RADIATOR LEAKING AND MESSING UP THE TRANSMISSION? *JS
ON JULY 25, 2013 THE CAR MADE A SKIPPING SOUND WHEN I TURNED IT ON AND A FEW DAYS PRIOR IT WOULD MAKE A ROLLING ACTION WHEN STOPPED. ON JULY 26, 2013 I WAS IN ROUTE AND AFTER BEING ON THE ROAD FOR 7 MINUTES AT A STOP LIGHT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE WHEN I PRESSED ON THE GAS PEDAL. AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS IT STARTED DRIVING HOWEVER IT WOULD NOT GO PAST 15 MILES MAKING A GRINDING SOUND/NOISE. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO THE CLOSEST MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT THE A/C COOLANT HAD GONE INTO THE TRANSMISSION REQUIRING IT TO BE FLUSHED HOWEVER NOT GUARANTEEING THAT IT WILL WORK. I CALLED NISSAN ON JULY 26 2013 AND WAS INFORMED THAT MY WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED AND THAT THEY WOULD NOT ASSIST IN REPAIRING THE TRANSMISSION. AT THIS TIME, THE PROBLEM IS TRYING TO BE FIXED AND EXPECTED TO BE SIGNIFICANTLY COSTLY. *TR

THE CONTACT HAD TO WAIT AN HOUR BEFORE THE VEHICLE WOULD RESTART WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE CAM SHAFT POSITION SENSOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 148,000.
HI I BROUGHT MY 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER IN DECEMBER 2012 FROM KINGS AUTO PORSCHE AND THE CAR FAX WAS CLEAR ON IT. I BROUGHT IT WITH 63K MILES ON IT AND I NOW HAVE 90K ON IT. I NEVER RECEIVED AND PAPERWORK SUCH AS ANY RECALLS CAMPAIGNS. ABOUT THE END OF MAY OR FIRST WEEK OF JUNE OF 2013 MY CAR STARTED TO DO A VIBRATION AND THEN ACTED LIKE IT WANTED TO STALL AND HIT REAL HARD INTO GEAR. IT WASN'T TILL JUNE 14, 2013 THAT IT PUT ME ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD RUNNING HOT TO WHERE I PULLED OVER IN 80+ DEGREE WEATHER WITH MY 2 YEAR OLD SON AND MY 3 MONTH OLD DAUGHTER IN THE CAR. I STARTED TO SEARCH THE INTERNET TO FIND A FEW RECALLS AND MANY UNHAPPY NISSAN CUSTOMERS AND FIND THAT NISSAN HAS MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE RADIATOR FLUID LEAKING INTO THE TRANSMISSION CAUSING A MILKY SUBSTANCES. I KNEW NOTHING ABOUT ANY RECALL AND FIND OUT THAT MANY ARE VERY UPSET WITH NISSAN WHO ISN'T FIXING THIS ISSUE AFTER THEIR VEHICLES HIT 80K. I AM VERY UNHAPPY WITH THIS ISSUES AND FEEL THAT NISSAN SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS. PLEASE CONTACT ME ON MY ISSUES. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER. WHILE DRIVING UP AN INCLINE APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO SLIP WITH EXTREME HESITATION AND THE RPMS INCREASED RAPIDLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHENEVER THE VEHICLE WAS IN OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED HOWEVER THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS A CRACK IN THE RADIATOR WHICH CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER.WHILE EXAMINING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE RADIATOR TRANSMISSION COOLANT LINE WAS CRACKED. TH VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PART NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, HOWEVER THE VEHICLE WAS NOT SERVICED.THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 94,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER. TOOK OFF OUT OF PARKING GARAGE, CAR LOST POWER (WOULDN'T ACCELERATE) AND THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT CAME ON. TOOK CAR TO INDEPENDENT SHOP WHO ADVISED THAT THE COMPUTER CODE THEY WERE RECEIVING FROM THE CAR WAS A MANUFACTURER CODE AND I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. TOOK CAR TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT RADIATOR HAD FAILED AND CAUSED THE COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUIDS TO MIX, RESULTING IN DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION. RECOMMENDED REPAIR WAS REPLACEMENT OF RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION WITH AN ESTIMATE OF $5,200. I BOUGHT CAR AT 48,000 MILES FROM THE DEALERSHIP AS A NISSAN-CERTIFIED PRE-OWNED VEHICLE. I'VE HAD MULTIPLE PROBLEMS INCLUDING REPLACING THE FUEL SENDING UNIT AS WELL AS A CATALYTIC CONVERTER. THE CAR HAD 115,000 MILES AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT AND I CONTACTED NISSAN TO REQUEST ASSISTANCE WITH THE COST OF THE REPAIRS BUT WAS DENIED ANY HELP. *JS

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. I WAS NOT TOLD BY ANYONE IN THE SERVICE DEPT OF THE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY ISSUE WITH NISSAN 2005-2010 FRONTIER, PATHFINDER, AND XTERRA. I FOUND THIS INFORMATION BY SURFING NISSAN WEBSITE. I DID THIS BECAUSE I WAS BEING TOLD BY EVERY REPAIR SHOP IN THE SURROUNDING AREA OF BIRMINGHAM THAT NISSAN IS WELL AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AND SHOULD DO A RECALL ON IT. I CALLED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS ON 1-10-2011 ABOUT THE INFORMATION THAT I DISCOVERED. I WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED TO TAKE MY VEHICLE BACK TO THE NISSAN DEALERSHIP TO ACCESS THE REPAIRS A BECAUSE IT HAD BEEN OVER 30 DAYS SINCE I TOOK MY VEHICLE INTO A NISSAN DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE. THEN, MY REQUEST WOULD BE REVIEWED BY CONSUMER AFFAIRS TO SEE IF NISSAN WOULD PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. I EXPLAINED TO THE REPRESENTATIVE THAT I DID NOT HAVE ANOTHER $100 TO HAVE THE SERVICE DEPT TO TELL ME THE SAME THING AGAIN. I GOT AN EMAIL 2 WEEKS AGO FROM NISSAN FOR A SURVEY AND NEVER HEARD ANYTHING BACK. I AM PAYING FOR A VEHICLE I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO USE SINCE NOVEMBER OF 2011. WHEN I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE IN 2008 I ALSO PURCHASED THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH NISSAN, WHICH NOW IS EXPIRED. I COULD NOT AFFORD TO PAY $5,695 FOR REPAIRS SO I WENT OUT AND FOUND A LICENSE TRANSMISSION SHOP THAT COULD DO IT AT A LESSER AMOUNT. THE TRANSMISSION SHOP TOLD ME THAT THEY ARE HAVING A DIFFICULT TIME WITH NISSAN AND ORDERING PARTS FOR THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE NISSAN CAN NOT PRODUCE THE PARTS FAST ENOUGH DUE TO THE HIGH DEMAND FOR REPAIRS FOR THIS ISSUE. EVEN THOUGH, I HAVE 114,700 MILES ON MY VEHICLE I AM ASKING NISSAN TO DO THE HONORABLE THING AND PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. *TR

I OWN A 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER SE, 4.0 LITER V6 WITH 53,000 MILES. I JUST HAD TO REPLACE THE TIMING CHAINS, TIMING CHAIN GUIDES, AND TIMING CHAIN TENSIONERS. I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AND HAD TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED HOME. THE DEALER WANTED IN EXCESS OF $2,500.00, I HAD THE WORK COMPLETED FOR $1,800.00 WITH ANOTHER SOURCE. I HAVE COME TO FIND OUT THAT THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND NISSAN REFUSED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I CONTACTED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA AND WAS TOLD THAT WHILE MY CAR HAS UNDER THE 60,000 MILE WARRANTY LIMIT, I WAS OVER THE 5 YEAR LIMIT BY 7 MONTHS. *TR
2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER SE WITH 86,000 MILES STARTING HAVING OPERATIONAL ISSUES WHEN RUNNING AT 2000 RPM'S. WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR NUMEROUS SERVICES AND WAS MENTIONED TO SERVICE DEPARTMENT. SERVICE DEPARTMENT SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING AND THAT IT WASN'T ANYTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. AFTER SEVERAL THOUSAND MILES THE ROUGH ENGINE RUNNING AT 2000 RPM'S WAS BECOMING MORE EVIDENT. SERVICE MANAGER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND IMMEDIATELY KNEW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AS THEY HAD MANY OTHER PATHFINDERS IN FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. WE WERE TOLD THAT THE RADIATOR SEAL WAS LEAKING FLUID IN THE TRANSMISSION AND THAT THE RADIATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS A TRANSMISSION FLUSH TO THE TUNE OF $850.00. NISSAN REPRESENTATIVE APPEARED AT DEALERSHIP AND WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM HOWEVER REFUSED TO COVER THE PROBLEM SAYING THAT IT WAS OUR PROBLEM BECAUSE IT EXCEEDED THE 80000 MILE EXTENSION ON THE RADIATOR. NISSAN NEVER NOTIFIED US ABOUT AND EXTENSION ON THE RADIATOR IN THE FIRST PLACE. THE SERVICE MANAGER ALSO INDICATED THAT HE COULD NOT PUT A WARRANTY ON THE TRANSMISSION THAT RECEIVED THE RADIATOR FLUID IN THE TRANSMISSION. NISSAN HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BUT REFUSES TO OWN IT. THEY HAVE LOST A VERY GOOD CUSTOMER WHO WAS ABOUT TO PURCHASE ANOTHER NISSAN VEHICLE. *TR
I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM NISSAN INFORMING ME THAT THE WARRANTY ON THE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY OF MY 2005 PATHFINDER IS BEING EXTENDED BECAUSE 'A CRACK IN THE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY MIGHT OCCUR AT HIGHER MILEAGES LEADING TO INTERNAL LEAKAGE OF ENGINE COOLANT'. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH IT WAS EVIDENT THAT BECAUSE THE FAILURE IS INTERNAL THE ONLY WAY TO DETECT IT IS BY A MALFUNCTIONING TRANSMISSION DUE TO THE INTERMINGLING OF FLUIDS. I CONTACTED NISSAN AND ASKED THEM IF THE RADIATOR FAILURE CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO MALFUNCTION WOULD THE EXTENDED WARRANTY COVER REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF THE TRANSMISSION. THEY STATED THAT IF THE DEALER'S WORK ORDER STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION (OR ANY OTHER PART) WAS DAMAGED DUE TO THE RADIATOR FAILURE IT WOULD BE COVERED. I THEN ASKED WHY THEY DON'T RECALL THE RADIATOR SO THAT THEY ONLY HAVE TO REPLACE THE RADIATOR AND NOT THE TRANSMISSION IN ADDITION TO THE RADIATOR. NISSAN STATED THAT THE GOVERNMENT DID NOT DEEM THIS A SAFETY ISSUE THEREFORE THEY WERE NOT REQUIRED TO ISSUE A RECALL. WOULDN'T IT MAKE GOOD BUSINESS AND PUBLIC RELATIONS SENSE FOR NISSAN TO STAND UP AND DO THE RIGHT THING AND ISSUE A VOLUNTARY RECALL? SO MY QUESTION TO THE GOVERNMENT IS; WHY ISN'T AN UNEXPECTED TRANSMISSION FAILURE OF A MOVING VEHICLE A SAFETY ISSUE? ANY PRODUCT DEFECT THAT CAUSES THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER TO A MOVING VEHICLE IS A SAFETY HAZARD. NORMALLY TIMING CHAINS AND GEARS SHOULD NOT DISINTEGRATE FOR CONSIDERABLY LONGER THAN 53,000 MILES. FILED COMPLAINT WITH NISSAN NORTH AMERICA 3-28-11 WITH NO SATISFACTION. THEY WERE UNWILLING TO DO ANYTHING SINCE THE VEHICLE IS PAST 60 MONTH PERIOD AND SINCE WE NEVER SERVICED THE VEHICLE AT A NISSAN DEALERSHIP. HAVING RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS NOT AN UNCOMMON COMPLAINT WITH 2005 AND 2006 4.0 LITER V6 MOTORS. DEALER IS ASKING IN EXCESS OF $2000.00 TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INFORMED HER THAT THE ECM RELAY SWITCH WAS FAILING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ECM WAS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER AND ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD RETURN HER CALL WITHIN THE NEXT TWENTY FOUR HOURS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.

PREMATURE WEAR OF TIMING CHAIN AND TIMING CHAIN GUIDES. IN THE NISSAN PATHFINDER 4.0L V6 ENGINES, THE TIMING CHAIN AND TIMING CHAIN GUIDES ARE WEARING OUT PREMATURELY. OUR VEHICLE WAS IDENTIFIED BY NISSAN DEALER SERVICE AT 62,000 MILES AND THE REQUIRED FIX ACTION WAS TO REPLACE THE TIMING CHAIN AND TIMING CHAIN QUIDES OUT OF WARRANTY AT A COST OF $1500.00. THESE PARTS DO NOT HAVE A RECOMMENDED SERVICE INTERVAL AS THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO LAST THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE HOWEVER NISSAN HAS IDENTIFIED THIS AS A PROBLEM IN THE PATHFINDER AND OTHER NISSAN VEHICLES THAT USE THE SAME ENGINE AND HAS ISSUED TWO SEPARATE SERVICE BULLETINS TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AT CUSTOMER EXPENSE. THIS APPEARS TO BE AN ENGINEERING DEFICIENCY AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY NISSAN AT THEIR EXPENSE. *TR
RADIATOR LEAKS INTO TRANSMISSION CAUSING TRANSMISSION TO MESS UP. NISSAN IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND TOLD ME IT HAPPENS ON HIGHER MILEAGE PATHFINDER BUT THEY ONLY EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 80,000 MILES. I RESEARCHED THE 2005 NISSAN PATHFINDER AND FOUND THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM THAT OCCURS WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL.
