TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON PLACING HER VEHICLE INTO REVERSE, THE VEHICLE SHUT-OFF WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS. THE CONTACT AND HER SON EXITED THE VEHICLE, TO MANUALLY STOP THE VEHICLE FROM ROLLING BACK AND HITTING A BUILDING. THE CONTACT THEN HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHERE THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE ENGINE COIL BLOCK HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO OVERHEAT AT START-UP. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT UNDISCLOSED SPEEDS, THERE WAS WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE ENGINE WHILE THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE SHOWED A HIGH ENGINE TEMPERATURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED HER THAT THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,500.
JUST BOUGHT AND CHECKED THE ANITFREEZE TO FIND A THICK SLUDGE IN THE RADIATOR AND OVERFLOW. SMELLS LIKE OIL
TAMARA RECALL. VEHICLE IN MOTION 60MPH JUMPED FROM 2WD TO 4WD AUTOMATICALLY. VEHICLE THEN LOCKED IN 5TH GEAR. MECHANIC STATED RADIATOR FLUID MIXED WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID, THEN BOTH CONTROL MODULES EXPIRED. VEHICLE WILL NOT START OR CRANK.

THE CONTACT LOOKED UNDER THE HOOD AND NOTICED OIL IN THE RADIATOR FLUID. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT WATER WAS IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (MOSSY NISSAN NATIONAL CITY, 2700 NATIONAL CITY BLVD, NATIONAL CITY, CA 91950, 619-474-7011) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 97,697.
I AM HAVING ISSUES WITH THE CAR SLIPPING GEARS. I TOOK IT TO A REPUTABLE TRANSMISSION REPAIR SHOP WHERE I WAS INFORMED THERE IS A "CRACK" IN THE COOLING PART OF MY RADIATOR AND MY RADIATOR AND TRANSMISSION AND BOTH NEED REPLACED. ALSO THAT THE RADIATOR FLUID AND THE TRANSMISSION FLUID ARE MIXED TOGETHER.
CAR BEGIN HAVING ISSUES WHILE SHIFTING, MADE CLUNKING SOUNDS WHILE DRIVING, NOT SHIFTING CORRECTLY BOTH ON HIGHWAY AND CITY DRIVING. WE TOOK IT TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE THEY DISCOVERED COOLANT FROM THE RADIATOR HAD LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION AND CAUSED IT TO FAIL. REPAIR SHOP QUOTED US FOR RADIATOR REPLACEMENT AND TRANSMISSION SERVICE BUT WARNED IF THE TRANSMISSION WAS TOO CONTAMINATED IT COULD NEED A WHOLE REPLACEMENT OF THAT AS WELL. UPON SEARCHING ONLINE FOR THIS ISSUE WE FOUND IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR NISSAN PATHFINDERS OF THIS AGE AND WITH THIS RADIATOR TYPE. IT CAN CAUSE THE TRANSMISSION TO SEIZE UP WHILE DRIVING AND RENDER THE CAR UNABLE TO BE CONTROLLED.
I BOUGHT THE CAR FROM A USED CAR DEALERSHIP WITH 109,000 MILES ON IT. NOT EVEN A MONTH AFTER BUYING IT, THE INTERCOOLER LINE CRACKED CAUSING THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND COOLANT TO MIX. THIS COMPLETELY DESTROYED MY RADIATOR, WHICH I HAD TO REPLACE, ALONG WITH FLUSHING THE ENTIRE COOLING SYSTEM. IT ALSO CAUSED MY TRANSMISSION TO FAIL. TO REPAIR MY CAR WILL COST ME ABOUT $5,000. I WENT TO NISSAN ABOUT THIS AND WAS TOLD THEY COULD NOT HELP ME BECAUSE THE CAR HAS OVER 100,000 MILES ON IT. I WAS ABLE TO TEMPORARILY FIX IT, BUT NOW MY TRANSMISSION IS COMPLETELY JUNK AND I CAN'T AFFORD TO FIX IT OR GIVE IT BACK TO THE BANK. ALL OF THESE ISSUES OCCURRED WHILE I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE.
THIS PARTICULAR YEAR AND MAKE OF VEHICLE HAS A KNOWN MANUFACTURERS DEFECT THAT CAUSES THE TRANSMISSION FLUID TO MIX IN WITH THE RADIATOR, WHICH IN TURN RUINS YOUR VEHICLE AND CAUSES ABOUT $5,000+ IN REPAIRS. A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT WAS SETTLED REGARDING THIS, AND ALL NISSAN DID WAS EXTEND THEIR WARRANTY. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS DEFECT DOESN'T ALWAYS BREAKDOWN PRIOR TO THE WARRANTY ENDING, IN MY CASE, IT HAPPENED SHORTLY AFTER THE WARRANTY WAS UP. SO NOW I'M STUCK WITH A VEHICLE I PURCHASED 2 YEARS AGO, THAT DOESN'T WORK, AND I STILL OWE MONEY ON IT, ALL BECAUSE OF THIS KNOWN DEFECT.
WE BOUGHT A 2008 NISSAN PATHFINDER, WITH 97,000 MILES. ZERO ISSUES AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. AT ABOUT 123,000 MILES WE NOTICED THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN TO STUFFER. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION WE DISCOVERED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND COOLANT FLUID HAVE MIXED TOGETHER. THE TRANSMISSION WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. WE ARE CURRENTLY FINANCING THIS VEHICLE, MAKING MONTHLY PAYMENTS, AND NOW AMONG MILLIONS OF OTHER NISSAN CONSUMERS ARE IN A HORRIBLE SPOT. NISSAN SHOULD HAVE ISSUED A RECALL FOR CRACKED RADIATORS. I WORK 12 HOUR SWING SHIFTS, LIVE IN A SMALL TOWN, AND HAVE 4 CHILDREN. NISSAN NEEDS TO MAKE THIS ISSUE RIGHT WITH CONSUMERS DUE TO THE SHEAR VOLUME OF DEFECTIVE VEHICLES AND THE IMMENSE COST AND UNFORTUNATE POSITION IT'S PUTTING HARD WORKING AMERICAN IN.
CRACKED RADIATOR LEAKING FLUID INTO TRANSMISSION. THIS IS CAUSING TRANSMISSION FAILURE. TRANSMISSION SLIPPED WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE OR AT A LOW GEAR SWITCH. VEHICLE SHUTTERS WHEN TRYING TO CHANGE GEARS. THIS OCCURS WHEN DRIVING AT HIGH AND LOW SPEEDS (IT HAS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). IF THE VEHICLE IS COLD AND I PUT IT IN DRIVE, THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT ENGAGE. WHEN IDLING, THE CAR BLOWS COLD AIR IN THE FRONT, EVEN IF ITS SET ON THE WARMEST TEMPERATURE. THE CAR CONSISTENTLY BLOWS COLD AIR IN THE BACK, WHETHER ITS IDLING OR BEING DRIVEN. AFTER HAVING MY CAR LOOKED AT, THE PROBLEM WAS FOUND TO BE CAUSED BY A CRACKED RADIATOR THAT LEAKED COOLANT INTO THE TRANSMISSION. NOT ONLY CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION, BUT ALSO TO THE HEATER HOSE WHICH IS BEYOND REPAIR AND NEEDS REPLACEMENT. AFTER DOING RESEARCH, I HAVE FOUND THAT THIS HAS BEEN A MAJOR ISSUE FOR NISSANS WITH A YEAR OF 2005 TO 2010, AND ALTHOUGH THEY DID NOT DO A RECALL, THEY OFFERED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY UP TO $80,000 AND 100,000 WITH A CUSTOMER CO-PAY. BUT FOR MOST PEOPLE THAT PROBLEM DID NOT START OCCURRING UNTIL AFTER 100,000 MILES... LIKE MYSELF. THERE WAS A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT ON THIS WHICH SETTLED IN OCTOBER OF 2012. I BOUGHT MY CAR FROM A NISSAN DEALERSHIP IN APRIL OF 2011. WHY WAS I NOT MADE AWARE OF THIS AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE?!

PURCHASED PRE-OWNED WITH NOTHING LISTED ON CAR FACTS (CARFAX), OR WITH ANY ADVISEMENT TO THE ISSUES WITH RADIATOR COOLANT LEAKING INTO TRANSMISSION. AFTER A $1,017 BILL FROM AAMCO FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TO FIND THE ISSUE, (IN WHICH THEY HAD TO PULL THE TRANNY AND INSPECT IT WAS DAMAGED DUE TO FLUID FROM RADIATOR GETTING INSIDE COMPROMISING TRANSMISSION SEALS) I DISCOVERED, ONLINE, THIS ONGOING WELL KNOW PROBLEM..CALLED NISSAN NORTH AMERICA AND DISCOVERED MY VEHICLE WAS COVERED UNDER THE 100K MILEAGE (94955 ACTUAL) AND GOOD THROUGH 8-2017, FROM A PREVIOUS FILED COMPLAINT OR CLASS ACTION, NOT SURE WHICH. HOWEVER, APPARENTLY I ONLY QUALIFY FOR A CO/PAY OF $3,000 ON A VEHICLE VALUED AT TOPS, $7,500. NEEDLESS TO SAY I WOULD HAVE NEVER PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE, HAD I KNOWN THIS WAS AN ISSUE. I HAVE BEEN IN TOUCH WITH MY BANK, THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED IT FROM, AND NISSAN NORTH AMERICA AND NO ONE IS WILLING TO ASSIST. I SUPPOSE I WILL CONTACT MY ATTORNEY AT THIS POINT (LEMON LAW, TORT LAWS, SOMETHING) BECAUSE I CANT' SEEM TO FIND ANYONE UNDERSTANDING TO ME, THE CONSUMER, WHOM IS NOT AT FAULT ON THIS DEAL FOR HELP. I'VE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE PRE-OWNED FROM NP MAZDA IN SAN ANTONIO TEXAS. THEY DID NOT INFORM ME OF THIS KNOWN ISSUE WHICH INVOLVED SEVERAL YEAR MODELS FOR THE PATHFINDER. I'VE SPENT A LITTLE OVER $5K OF LOANED MONEY TO HAVE THIS RESOLVE VIA INDEPENDENT TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST AS GUNN NISSAN PRESENTED ME WITH A MUCH HIGHER PRICE QUOTE. I RECENTLY FOUND OUT FROM A LOCAL NISSAN SERVICE SPECIALIST THAT MY VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS AND AS A RESULT OF OCTOBER 2012 CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT SETTLED BY COURT AND NISSAN CORP. I AM ATTEMPTING TO HAVE NISSAN HELP ME WITH SOME OF RECENTLY MENTIONED FINANCIAL IMPACT REGARDING THEIR WELL KNOWN DEFECT.
IN THE MIDDLE OF A HEAVY STORM FROM THE WAKE OF AN F3 TORNADO THAT SWEPTED THROUGH, MY WIFE AND I WERE STUCK IN HEAVY WIND AND RAIN IN AN OPEN AREA UNABLE TO START OUR 2008 PATHFINDER AFTER PULLING OVER. I GOT OUT IN THE WIND AND RAIN AND AFTER LOOKING OVER THE VEHICLE AFTER IT COOLED DOWN, THATS WHEN I NOTICED OIL AND WATER WERE MIXED IN THE RADIATOR.THE PATHFINDER NOW SITS BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START. IT WENT FROM PARKED AND RUNNING TO DEAD ON THIE SIDE OF THE ROAD.

I WAS DRIVING AROUND 35 TO 40MPH WHEN I FELT A VIBRATION UNDER VEHICLE BACKED OFF GAS PEDAL WENT AWAY AFTER THAT IT WOULD COME BACK NOW AND THEN AROUND THE SAME SPEED JUST LIKE YOU WHERE DRIVING ON A RUMBLE STRIP. TOOK TO NISSAN FOR DIAGNOSIS TOLD ME VEHICLE SHIFTED ERRATICALLY AND FOUND ANTI FREEZE IN TRANSMISSION, THEY GAVE A QUOTE OF MORE THAN $7,000 TO FIX.WHEN I ASKED WHAT COULD CAUSE THIS THEY SAID A BUSHING COULD HAVE BEEN WORN TO LET COOLANT INTO TRANNY, NOW THEY GET INFO ON PROBLEMS THAT OCCUR I JUST GOT A PHONY ANSWER. ISSUE ORIGINALLY OCCURRED IN DECEMBER, 2013. ISSUE WAS FIXED AT BUTLER NISSAN. ISSUE REPAIRED WITH SUBSTANDARD AND USED PARTS, WHICH RESULTED IN SAME ISSUE OCCURRING - RADIATOR CRACKING, WHICH CAUSED CATASTROPHIC FAILURE TO THE TRANSMISSION. ISSUE OCCURRED WHILE WE WERE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. FLUID LEAKED INTO ENGINE, CAUSED THE ENGINE TO SMOKE AND OBSTRUCT OUR VIEW OF THE ROAD. WE WERE ABLE TO PULL CAR INTO BUSINESS WITHOUT A COLLISION. MY RADIATOR WAS REPLACED IN 8/14 DUE TO A HOSE COMING LOOSE AND CAUSING FLUIDS TO COMINGLE. 5/2/15 WHILE DRIVING MY CHILDREN HOME FROM SOCCER MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THE CAR COULD BARELY ACCELERATE. I DROVE TO A GARAGE, AND WAS TOLD THAT THE RADIATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. TOWED CAR TO THE GARAGE THAT REPLACED RADIATOR 8/11/14, AFTER TWO AND A HALF DAYS AM BEING TOLD MY 08 PATHFINDER MUST BE TOWED TO A DEALER TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE REPLACED AND REPROGRAMMED. THE CAR HAS 89,000 MILES. *TR
CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE FROM A STOP IT WAS AS IF IT WAS NOT SHIFTING TO FIRST GEAR FROM A STOP. ALSO WHILE DRIVING THE CAR WOULD BEGIN TO SHUDDER VIOLENTLY AND WOULD NOT STOP UNTIL THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. AS IT TURNS OUT, A LINE INSIDE RADIATOR COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION BROKE AND CAUSED CONTAMINATION. COOLANT MIXED WITH TRANSMISSION FLUID CREATED A SLUDGE THAT CONTAMINATED BOTH COOLANT SYSTEM AND TRANSMISSION. RADIATOR WAS REPLACED AND COOLANT SYSTEM FLUSHED AS WELL AS TRANSMISSION FLUSHED. A WEEK LATER THE CAR WAS PARKED AND WOULD NOT START. AS IT TURNS OUT THE TRANSMISSION BLEW A FUSE AND WAS NOT REGISTERING THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK. THIS IS ALL RELATED TO THE SAME PROBLEM THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE (TCM) WAS BURNED OUT FROM THE SLUDGE CREATED BY COOLANT AND TRANSMISSION FLUID. SO NOW, EITHER THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE THE CLUTCH AND GEARS ARE POTENTIALLY BURNED UP OR THE TCM. WITH JUST A TCM THERE IS NO GUARANTEE THAT THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT FAIL DUE TO NO WAY OF KNOWING THE CONDITION OF THE CLUTCH AND TRANSMISSION GEARS. VEHICLE IS STILL IN THE SHOP FOR OVER A MONTH NOW AND WE HAVE BEEN FORCED TO PURCHASE A NEW CAR TO MEET OUR TRANSPORTATION NEEDS. *TR
I STARTED FEELING MY CAR SLIP GEARS WHEN IT REACHED CERTAIN SPEEDS, AS WELL AS THE VDC, SLIP AND ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON. WITHIN THE NEXT FEW DAYS, AS I WAS DRIVING, MY CAR OVERHEATED AND THE ANTIFREEZE POURED OUT OF IT. THE RADIATOR WAS CRACKED AND HAD LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN MY HUSBAND CALLED NISSAN AND TOLD THEM OUR ISSUE, AND THAT OUR MILEAGE WAS 103,000, THEY SAID WE WERE NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND IT WOULD COST APPROXIMATELY $6,000 (OBVIOUSLY KNOWING WHAT THE ISSUE WAS FROM ALL THE OTHER TRANSMISSIONS THAT WERE RUINED FROM THEIR ERROR). MY HUSBAND'S FRIEND, WHO IS MECHANIC, REPLACED THE RADIATOR AND FLUSHED THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. IT SEEMED TO RUN FINE FOR THE NEXT FEW MONTHS, WITH THE OCCASIONAL FLUSH OF THE TRANSMISSION FLUID. WITHIN THE LAST WEEK, THE CAR BEGAN SLIPPING AGAIN. BY YESTERDAY, IT WOULD NOT COME OUT OF SECOND GEAR. MY TRANSMISSION IS SHOT AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WITH NISSAN, AS WE HAVE BEEN LOYAL CUSTOMERS FOR THE LAST 14 YEARS. I LOVED MY PATHFINDER, AND WOULD THINK THAT AFTER SPENDING $36,000 ON A CAR, IT WOULD HOLD UP LONGER THAN 6 YEARS. IT IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE THAT NISSAN WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR MANUFACTURING ERROR AND THAT THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN PATHFINDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS JERKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIATOR FLUID LEAKED INTO THE TRANSMISSION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE WAY THE RADIATOR WAS BUILT ALLOWED THE FLUIDS TO LEAK INTO THE TRANSMISSION AS A RESULT THE RADIATOR AND THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
