I LIVE IN THE DENVER AREA, AND MY DAUGHTER IS IN COLLEGE IN UTAH. SHE COMPLAINED FOR THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS WHILE IN SCHOOL THAT THE CAR WOULD SPORADICALLY JUST STOP ACCELERATING. SHE ALSO SAID SHE HAD NOT CHANGED THE OIL IN A WHILE, SO I THOUGHT THAT'S WHAT HER PROBLEM WAS. SHE THEN CHANGED THE OIL, AND CONTINUED TELLING ME THAT IT WOULD JUST STOP ACCELERATING, AND SHE SAID SHE WAS SCARED TO DRIVE IT, BECAUSE SHE FELT SHE WOULD GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. HER SCHOOL IS IN SOUTH CENTRAL UTAH, AND THE CLOSEST NISSAN SERVICE CENTER WAS 100 + MILES AWAY, SO I RECOMMENDED SHE TAKE IT TO THE LOCAL MECHANIC, WHO FILLED IT WITH TRANSMISSION FLIUD. I THEN TOLD HER TO TAKE IT TO THE NEAREST TRANSMISSION SHOP, (PROVO, 100 + MILES AWAY), AND HE TOLD US ABOUT THE NISSAN CVT TRANSMISSION ISSUES, AND IT WOULD BE $3900 TO REPLACE. THE CAR NOW HAS 123,900 MILES ON IT. AFTER RESEARCHING, AND FINDING OUT THAT NISSAN EXTENDED THE WARRANTY TO 120,000 MILES, WHICH I KNEW THAT THE CAR WAS OVER THE WARRANTY, BUT DECIDED TO HAVE IT TOWED TO KEN GARFF NISSAN, NEARBY. THE VERDICT, REPLACE THE CVT TRANSMISSION AT MY EXPENSE, FOR $4600. I TOLD THE TECHNICIAN THAT WHAT'S THE USE OF PAYING THAT MUCH MONEY, AND THEN HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM HAPPEN AGAIN. HE EXPLAINED THAT NOW THEY ALSO INSTALL A CVT COOLING UNIT, WHICH IS SUPPOSE TO FIX THE PROBLEMS. I LET HIM KNOW THAT THAT'S WHAT NISSAN SHOULD HAVE ORIGINALLY DONE, RECALL THE TRANSMISSION, AND INSTALL THE COOLING UNIT. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS, AND FILED A COMPLAINT. THEY CALLED THE NEXT DAY, (TODAY), AND SAID THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING, AND CLOSED THE CASE! THE INVESTIGATOR SAID THAT THIS ONLY HAPPENED IN THE ROUGES FROM 2003 THROUGH 2010. I LET HIM KNOW THAT THAT WAS NOT TRUE, AND IS HAPPENING TO SEVERAL OTHER MODELS WITH THE CVT TRANSMISSION, UP TO 2015! HE SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BUT TO PUT ME IN A NEW VEHICLE!

I WAS HEARING & FEELING A NOISE WHEN ACCELERATING AND DECELERATING SO I TOOK MY CAR IN TO THE NISSAN DEALERS SERVICE CENTER TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON. THEY STATED THAT MY TRANSMISSION AND TRANSFER CASE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NISSAN HAS EXTENDED THE TRANSMISSION WARRANTY TO 120K MILES BUT DOESN'T BACK THE TRANSFER CASE OR ANYTHING ELSE THAT RELATES TO THIS KNOW ISSUE. THEY SHOULD BE HELD LIABLE FOR ALL ISSUES CONCERNING THIS MATTER.

"DEFECTIVE CVT TRANSMISSIONS" I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND TO HAVE A LIGHT KNOCKING COMING FROM SOMEWHERE IN ENGINE CHECKED. I PAID FOR A DIAGNOSTIC. I WAS TOLD THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS BAD THAT I FELL UNDER THE RECALL BUT NOT WITH CURRENT MILEAGE 131,099. I WAS TOLD I HAD TO PAY TO REPLACE CVT TRANSMISSION. I HEAR THE NOISE ONLY WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION NOT WHEN IT'S STATIONARY.

I HAD A NISSAN ROGUE CVT TRANSMISSION ISSUE LAST YEAR. OUR CAR HAD MULTIPLE ACCELERATION ISSUES THAT WE GOT LUCKY WE DIDN'T HAVE ANY ACCIDENTS. ONE OF MANY ISSUE WAS ON LABOR DAY WEEKEND WE DECIDED TO GO ON A VACATION TO RELAX AFTER DAYS AND WEEKS OF HARD WORK AT THE OFFICE. AGAIN OUR VACATION WAS CUT SHORT. IT TOOK US 6 HOURS TO DRIVE A 2.5 HOUR DRIVE. I HAD TO STOP, LET THE TRANSMISSION COOL DOWN AND DRIVE AGAIN WITH A SPEED OF LESS THAN 50MPH SOMETIMES TAKING THE STREETS TO KEEP THE SPEED DOWN. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER, UNDER WARRANTY, THEY WANTED TO DO A FEW MINOR SERVICES. THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD FIXED THE PROBLEM AND THAT THERE WOULDN'T BE ANY MORE ISSUES. IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND AGAIN. FINALLY, I OPENED A CASE THROUGH NISSAN AND GOT MY CAR A NEW TRANSMISSION. THE TRANSMISSION HAS STARTING PROBLEMS AGAIN AND I AM REALLY TIRED OF THIS. I GOT A CALL FROM MY WIFE THIS MORNING THAT SHE WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION WAITING TO MAKE A LEFT TURN. SHE HAD LOSS OF ACCELERATION RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION AS THE LIGHT TURNED RED AND AND CARS FROM THE OTHER SIDE STARTED TO GO STRAIGHT TO HER HONKING THEIR HORN. SHE SAID THAT THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE AND FINALLY STARTED TO MOVE VERY SLOWLY. SHE WAS TERRIFIED AND CRYING. I AM REALLY TIRED OF THIS AND REALLY ITS UNACCEPTABLE. OUR ROUGE IS OUR ONLY CAR AND MY WIFE DRIVES IT TO AND FROM WORK AND IT IS AT THIS POINT THAT I CAN NOT ACCEPT THIS ISSUE ANYMORE, IT IS A DANGER TO MY FAMILY. I HAVE HAD IT WITH THIS CAR.

ON AN OUT OF TOWN TRIP TO HEREFORD TEXAS FROM FT. WORTH TX., VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO ABOVE 60 MPH HALFWAY TO MY DESTINATION. AFTER SEVERAL TRIPS TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. TRANSMISSIONS IS ACTING UP AGAIN AFTER 40K MILES AND CANT BE TRUSTED TO BE ON THE ROAD AS THE YOU CAN STEP ON THE GAS ALL THE WAY AND SPEED WILL NOT EXCEED 60 MPH. IT SEEMS TO MESS UP WHEN ON LONGER DRIVES OF OVER 30 MINUTES WHEN THE TRANSMISSION GETS HOT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THERE WAS A TRANSMISSION LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNDETERMINED. WHILE DRIVING 2008 NISSAN ROGUE ON HIGHWAY 70 IN NEW MEXICO AT POSTED SPEED LIMIT OF 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED RAPID LOSS OF SPEED AND POWER IN WHICH PRESSING DOWN ON ACCELERATOR HAD NO EFFECT ON VEHICLE. PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUT VEHICLE OFF. INSPECTED VEHICLE FOR ANY OBVIOUS SIGNS OF SOURCE OF MALFUNCTION. RESTARTED VEHICLE AFTER 20 MINUTES AND RESUMED TRAVEL WITH NO ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS ON THIS TRIP. THIS MALFUNCTION HAS REPEATED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS SINCE, WITH MORE REGULARITY TO DATE. SEEMS TO OCCUR MOST OFTEN WHEN DRIVING TO A HIGHER ELEVATION AFTER AN HOUR OR MORE OF CONTINUOUS OPERATION. WHEN MALFUNCTION OCCURS, ENGINE WILL NOT EXCEED 2500-3000 RPMS EVEN WITH GAS PEDAL FULLY DEPRESSED. THIS HAPPENED FIRST IN JANUARY 2014 AND I TOOK IT TO NISSAN DEALER IN ALBUQUERQUE WHO SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH TRANSMISSION. VEHICLE WORKED FINE FOR OVER A YEAR AND TWO MONTHS AGO AGAIN STARTED WITH THIS PROBLEM. MALFUNCTION IS INTERMITTENT, BUT RECENTLY MORE FREQUENT. I BROUGHT IT TO A NISSAN DEALER IN LAS CRUCES NM BUT THEY DIDNT HAVE A TRANSMISSION TECH IN THAT DAY. I WAS CHARGED A $120 DIAGNOSTIC FEE AND TOLD THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG BUT TO BRING IT BACK ON A DAY WHEN TRANSMISSION TECH WILL BE IN. ITS AN HOUR AND HALF DRIVE FOR ME EACH WAY. HAVE SINCE READ MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET FROM OTHER OWNERS OF SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE. I FEEL THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE FOR THIS PROBLEM.

ON A ROAD TRIP FROM LOS ANGELES TO LAS VEGAS, ENCOUNTERING NORMALLY HOT TEMPERATURES, AND AFTER SEVERAL HOURS OF DRIVING, THE CAR LOST POWER COULD ONLY ATTAIN SPEEDS OF 50 MPH OR LESS UP HILLS. THIS IS A CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER TO THE OCCUPANTS WHEN OTHER CARS ARE EASILY GOING 70 - 75 MPH. IF YOU PULL OFF THE ROAD, THE CARS HAVE A TENDENCY TO LURCH FORWARD AND WITH DANGEROUSLY POOR ACCELERATION. FROM READING THE CAR FORUMS, THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS PARTICULAR MODEL, WHERE THE CVT TRANSMISSION APPARENTLY OVER-HEATS AND PUTS THE CAR INTO "LIMP" MODE. THE FIX HAS BEEN TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSIONS AND INSTALL AN ADDITIONAL TRANSMISSION COOLER, HOWEVER MANY DEALERS TRY TO CHARGE THE CUSTOMER FOR THE COOLER, AND THE NISSAN FACTORY IS NOW HESITANT TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSIONS EVEN THOUGH THEIR LONGEVITY AND RELIABILITY HAS UNDOUBTEDLY BEEN COMPROMISED IF THE OVER-HEATING PROBLEM WAS EXPERIENCED. THERE SHOULD BE A MANDATORY RECALL DEMANDED BY THE NTSB BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED OR INJURED DUE TO THIS LACK OF ACCELERATION. THE PROBLEM IS DIFFICULT TO REPRODUCE AT THE DEALER BECAUSE IT INVOLVES A MULTI-HOUR ROAD TRIP AND HILLS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED, PLEASE.

THE CVT (CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION ON MY CAR EXPLODED WHEN THE SEALS FAILED (A DEFECT COMMON TO THESE CARS) GOING ABOUT 60 MPH ON THE WAY THROUGH KANSAS TO COLORADO. IT ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT AS IT LED TO THE CAR SMOKING AND AN EXTREME LOSS OF SPEED WHILE IN TRAFFIC. NISSAN KNOWS THERE ARE DEFECTS WITH THIS TRANSMISSION AND YET CONTINUE TO PUT THEM IN THE NISSAN ROGUES.

AFTER 5 HOURS OF OPERATION, WHILE CLIMING UPGRADE NEAR CHARLOTTE NC, VEHICLE SLIPPED OUT OF GEAR AND LOST POWER. THIS REPEATED OVER A SERIES OF INCLINES FOR THE NEXT 50 MILES AND NEARLY RESULTED IN SEVERAL REAR END ACCIDENTS. DURING THESE INCIDENTS,THE VEHICLE BOTH LOST POWER AND THE CRUISE CONTROL UNEXPECTEDLY SHUT OFF. LOCAL NISSAN DEALER CONFIRMED IT WAS DUE TO A KNOWN HEAT ISSUE WITH CVT TRANSMISSIONS, AND AN ADVISORY WAS OUT TO INSPECT AND ADVISE WHEN REPORTED. NISSAN INSTRUCTED AN ADDITIONAL COOLING APPLIANCE BE ADDED TO KEEP THE FLUID COOL SO OPERATION WAS NORMAL. ISSUE IS THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL BASED ON ASSUMPTION THAT ANY VEHICLE WILL DRIVE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FOR SEVERAL HOURS AND EVENTUALLY HAVE TO ENCOUNTER RELATIVLY EASY UPGRADES ON OUR HIGHWAYS. TRANSMISSION FAILURE UNDER THESE CIRCUMSTANCES IS INEVITABLE, AND SO WILL BE POTENTIALLY FATAL OR AT LEAST INJURY INDUCING INCIDENTS.

DRIVING OVER A RAIL ROAD TRACK THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER. THE CABLE ASS CONTROL TO THE TRANSMISSION BROKE OFF. WHEN WE HAD NOTIFY NISSAN OF THE PART WE NEEDED, WE WERE TOLD THAT IT WOULD BE A WHILE BEFORE WE COULD GET THIS PART THAT THERE WERE OVER 20 PEOPLE AHEAD OF US FOR THIS PART. SO I AM WRITING TO INFORM YOU OF A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS COULD HAVE CREATED A VERY BAD ACCIDENT.

I WAS DRIVING WEST FROM ST. LOUIS, MO TO BOULDER, CO AND ABOUT HALF WAY INTO MY DRIVE MY 2008 NISSAN ROGUE S AWD HAD A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER. IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE BUT THE RPM OF THE ENGINE CLIMBED WHEN I PRESSED THE PEDAL. I CAME TO A STOP AND I COULD HEAR THE TRANSMISSION MAKING AN WHINING NOISE. I CHECKED UNDER THE VEHICLE AND DID NOT SEE ANY FLUID LEAKS OR ANY DAMAGE. WHEN I GOT BACK ON THE ROAD THE CAR WORKED NORMALLY FOR A WHILE BUT THEN BEGAN TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS. ON 11/20/14 I WAS ON HIGHWAY 80 DRIVING FROM ROSEVILLE CA TO PALO ALTO CA . I WAS IN THE FAR LEFT LANE (4 TOTAL) IN HEAVY TRAFFIC DOING APRX 50 MPH. WITH NO WARNING I COULDN'T ACCELERATE AND THE ENGINE ONLY REVVED WHEN I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL. I CUT OFF SEVERAL CARS TO GET TO THE RIGHT SIDE SHOULDER. AFTER I CALLED AAA A CHP SHOWED UP TO SEE IF I WAS OK. I EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED AND A TOW TRUCK WOULD ARRIVE IN ABOUT 2 HOUR DUE TO TRAFFIC. THE OFFICER SAID BECAUSE OF MY LOCATION I NEEDED TO REMAIN IN MY CAR UNTIL A TOW TRUCK ARRIVED. HE ALSO SAID HE WOULD REMAIN WITH ME UNTIL HELP ARRIVED. I WAS TOWED TO A SHOP IN FAIRFIELD CA (CLOSEST CITY). PAID $3,758 TO HAVE AN INDEPENDENT SHOP INSTALL A NEW NISSAN CVT TRANSMISSION. FOUND OUT LATER NISSAN HAD EXTENDED THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY TO 10 YEARS OR 120,000 MILES. MY CAR WAS WELL WITHIN THE WARRANTY REQUIREMENTS. I HAVE SPOKEN TO 2 NISSAN REPRESENTATIVES AND BOTH TOLD ME BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T DO THE REPAIR THERE WAS NOTHING THEY WOULD DO. I EXPLAINED I WAS FROM OREGON AND NEEDED TO BE HOME BY SATURDAY TO WORK. THE SHOP THAT DID THE WORK HAD ME ON THE ROAD THE NEXT DAY. THEY SAID BECAUSE THEY INSTALLED A NISSAN TRANSMISSION IT WOULD BE WARRANTED BY NISSAN. I ASKED IF I COULD SEND AN EMAIL TO SOMEONE HIGHER UP EXPLAINING MY SITUATION AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO NEED. I ASKED IF THEY WERE RECORDING OUR CONVERSATIONS AND WAS TOLD YES. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING IT'S ILLEGAL TO RECORD A CONVERSATION WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE OR APPROVAL. I HAVE CHECKED ONLINE AND AMAZED HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS WITH NISSAN. ON THE DATE LISTED ABOVE THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. MY WIFE AND I WERE IN FOUR LANES OF EASTBOUND TRAFFIC ON I40 IN BURLINGTON NC. WE LOST MOMENTUM IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND WERE LUCKY TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY. THIS CAR WAS PURCHASED IN MARCH 2008. IT HAD A KNOWN ISSUE WHERE GRINDING NOISES WERE COMING FROM THE TRANSMISSION. NISSAN FINALLY RELEASED A FIX AND MY CAR WAS UPDATED ON 11/30/2009. I BELIEVE THE CVT WAS DEFECTIVE OR DAMAGED BECAUSE OF A SLOW RESPONSE BY NISSAN. THE CAR WAS 20 MONTHS OLD BEFORE THE COMPANY REPAIRED THE VEHICLE SO THAT THE GRINDING NOISE WASN'T PRESENT. I ASKED NISSAN FOR DATA ON FAILURES AND - OF COURSE - THEY SAID THAT WAS NOT AVAILABLE. WHEN DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED THERE IS A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER NO MATTER HOW FAR YOU DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR THE VEHICLE WILL NOT GO ANY FASTER AND YOU ARE COASTING YOU CAN NOT GO ANY FASTER. THIS HAPPENS WHEN GOING UP HILL ON WHEN THERE IS A GREATER LOAD ON THE TRANSMISSION. YOU CAN NOT MAINTAIN SPEED IN HEAVY TRAFFIC THIS CREATES A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION FOR THE OCCUPANTS OF THE CAR AS WELL AS THOSE AROUND THEM. WHEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER I WAS TOLD THERE IS A TECHNICAL BULLETIN FOR ALL ROGUES THAT THE TRANSMISSION OVER HEATS AND IT GOES INTO SAFETY OVERRIDE MODE SO IT DOESN'T BLOW UP. IN LIGHT OF THIS ALL ROGUES NEED A TRANSMISSION COOLER INSTALLED AT A COST OF $1300. *TR

THE PROBLEM WE ARE HAVING IS THE CAR WILL HESITATE AS IF THE ENGINE STALLS BUT THE TACHOMETER SHOWS A STEADY RPM. THIS HESITATION LASTS FOR JUST A FEW SECONDS BUT IS VERY SUDDEN. THE CAR THEN STARTS GOING AS IF NOTHING HAS HAPPENED. THERE ARE NO LIGHTS COMING ON TO INDICATE ANY PROBLEMS. WHEN I HAVE HAD THE CAR AT THE DEALER THEY CHECK FOR A TROUBLE CODES AND THERE AREN'T ANY. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS AND DIFFERENT CONDITIONS. THE FIRST TIME I JUST HAD TURNED A CORNER AND STARTED TO ACCELERATE AND IT HESITATED THREE TIMES WITHIN 10 TO 15 SECONDS. OUR SPEED DROPPED TO ALMOST A STOP THEN STARTED AS IF NOTHING WAS WRONG. OTHER TIMES I HAVE BEEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP LIGHT AND HAVE HAD THE CAR COME ALMOST TO A STOP. I HAVE ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED THREE TIMES. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AT A CONSTANT SPEED ON THE FREEWAY AND HAD THE CAR DROP FROM 65 MPH DOWN TO 40 MPH IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. AGAIN ALMOST CAUSING A MAJOR WRECK IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THE CAR AGAIN STARTED UP AS IF NOTHING WAS WRONG. ANOTHER TIME I WAS MERGING ONTO THE FREEWAY INTO TRAFFIC DOING 70MPH AND HAD IT HESITATE DOWN TO 40MPH IN FRONT OF A SEMI. HE HAD TO LOCK HIS WHEELS TO AVOID REAR ENDING ME, HE COULD NOT GET OVER. I SHOULD HAVE BEEN ABLE TO MERGE WITHOUT ANY TROUBLE. I HAD ENOUGH ROOM HAD IT NOT HESITATED. THIS LAST TIME I WAS TURNING ACROSS TWO LANES ONTO AN ENTRANCE RAMP TO THE FREEWAY WHEN IT CAME ALMOST TO A STOP MIDWAY ACROSS THE FIRST LANE I WAS CROSSING. AN ONCOMING CAR HAD TO SWERVE INTO THE RIGHT LANE TO AVOID ME. HAD THE CAR NOT BEEN ABLE TO MOVE RIGHT WE WOULD HAVE BEEN HIT IN THE PASSENGER DOOR AT ABOUT 50 MPH. MY WIFE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. I HAVE CALLED THE SERVICE MANAGER AT OUR DEALERSHIP BUT HE WILL NOT CALL BACK. I HAVE CALLED NISSAN CORPORATE AT 1-800-343-6913 X[XXX] AND LEFT MESSAGES WITH [XXX] BUT SHE WILL NOT RETURN MY CALLS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ROGUE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING FROM A COMPLETE STOP THERE WAS A BRIEF DELAY IN ACCELERATION. THE FAILURE RECURRED SPORADICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOUR TIMES. THE TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED TWICE. ADDITIONALLY, ON A SEPARATE OCCASION THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE WAS REPROGRAMMED. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AFTER THE REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.

WHILE DRIVING 2008 NISSAN ROGUE ON I-17 INTERSTATE TOWARD FLAGSTAFF, AZ AT POSTED SPEED LIMIT OF 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED RAPID LOSS OF SPEED AND POWER IN WHICH PRESSING DOWN ON ACCELERATOR HAD NO EFFECT ON VEHICLE. SEMI-TRUCK NEARLY REAR ENDED OUR VEHICLE. DRIVER OF SEMI-TRUCK MADE SUDDEN LANE CHANGE TO AVOID COLLISION. PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SHUT VEHICLE OFF. INSPECTED VEHICLE FOR ANY OBVIOUS SIGNS OF SOURCE OF MALFUNCTION. RESTARTED VEHICLE AFTER 20 MINUTES AND RESUMED TRAVEL WITH NO ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS ON THIS TRIP. THIS MALFUNCTION HAS REPEATED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS SINCE, WITH MORE REGULARITY TO DATE. SEEMS TO OCCUR MOST OFTEN WHEN DRIVING TO A HIGHER ELEVATION AFTER AN HOUR OR MORE OF CONTINUOUS OPERATION. WHEN MALFUNCTION OCCURS, ENGINE WILL NOT EXCEED 2500-3000 RPMS EVEN WITH GAS PEDAL FULLY DEPRESSED. SINCE ORIGINAL MALFUNCTION, I HAVE ALSO EXPERIENCED LACK OF ACCELERATION OR HESITATION FROM A COMPLETE STOP WHEN ENTERING INTO TRAFFIC RESULTING IN POTENTIAL UNSAFE CONDITION WHEN ENTERING TRAFFIC. MALFUNCTION IS INTERMITTENT, BUT EXTREMELY MORE FREQUENT. I HAVE SINCE READ MANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET FROM OTHER OWNERS OF SAME YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE.
