AFTER DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE RPM WILL SKYROCKET AND THE VEHICLE WILL NOT MOVE FORWARD. WE HAVE TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND LET IT SIT FOR A FEW HOURS BEFORE IT DRIVES NORMALLY AGAIN. LATELY THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN BUCKING WHEN SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE.
TODAY I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY GOING A STEADY SPEED OF ABOUT 70 MPH FOR ABOUT 30-40 CONSECUTIVE MINUTES. MY 2008 NISSAN ROGUE SL BEGAN TO DECELERATE SLOWLY. I BEGAN TO PRESS GRADUALLY ON THE GAS PEDAL. AS I DID THIS, THE CAR MADE A WEIRD SOUND AS IF IT WAS TRYING TO SHUT OFF. AT THIS POINT MY FOOT WAS PRESSED TO THE FLOOR ON THE GAS PEDAL AND THE CARS RPM WAS GOING AS HIGH AS 4000 BUT THE CAR ITSELF WAS NOT ACCELERATING OVER 50 MPH. ALL OF THIS HAPPENING WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AT AROUND 6:30 PM. I COULD HAVE EASILY GOTTEN INTO AN ACCIDENT. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPEN EITHER. A FEW TIMES I HAVE BEEN AT A COMPLETE STOP AT A RED LIGHT OR COMING OFF OF THE HIGHWAY RAMP AND THE CAR WILL TAKE 10-15 SECONDS TO ACCELERATE AND TAKE OFF! THIS IS SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS BUT CAN ALSO BE QUITE ANNOYING FOR THE CAR BEHIND ME. ALL THIS HAPPENING WITH NO WARNING LIGHTS ON MY DASH, I HAVE GOTTEN THE CAR CHECKED OUT BUT TO NO AVAIL NO CODES ARE COMING UP AND MY CAR SEEMS TO BE FINE. I HONESTLY BELIEVE THIS IS A GLITCH IN THE SOFTWARE OR SYSTEM. I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ON MULITPLE DIFFERENT FORUMS COMPLAINING OF THE SAME ISSUE ON THE SAME MAKE, YEAR AND MODEL! I HONESTLY BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND HOPE THAT ONE OF YOUR TECHNICIANS SERIOUSLY LOOK INTO THIS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS SERIOUSLY HURT!
I AM HAVING CVT TRANSMISSION ISSUES. IT STOPS ACCELERATING WHEN ON THE HIGHWAY AND I'M NOT ABLE TO GO FASTER THAT 60 MPH. WHEN I TRY TO ACCELERATE THE RPM METER GOES UP, WHICH ISN'T GOOD. I AM NO LONGER WITHIN 10 YEAR FRAME OF NISSAN'S EXTENDED WARRANTY SO I HAVE TO COME OUT OF POCKET FOR A TRANSMISSION THAT NISSAN KNOWS ISN'T RELIABLE AND WILL FAIL AGAIN. I'M HOPING THAT A RECALL COMES FROM THEM INSTEAD OF AN EXTENDED WARRANTY THAT LEAVES A LOT OF CONSUMERS OUT IN THE COLD. I'M GLAD THIS HAPPENED TO ME CAUSE I KNOW, NEVER, TO BUY A NISSAN VEHICLE.
'TAKATA RECALL' AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM OF A RUN AWAY WHEN ENGAGING THE CRUISE CONTROL AROUND 70MPH ON HIGHWAY
NISSAN ROGUE ACCELERATION THE CAR WILL SPORADICALLY STOP ACCELERATING ON THE HIGHWAY. SOMETIMES FROM A STANDSTILL THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE QUICKLY. RPMS ARE WILL STILL GO UP BUT SPEED WILL NOT.
DURING PROLONG PERIODS OF DRIVING (2-2.5 HOURS) AT APPROXIMATELY 75 MPH, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF ACCELERATION WITHOUT WARNING. RPVS WILL NOT GO PAST 2500. SPEED WILL DROP TO 45-50 MPH. I'VE ALMOST BEEN REAR-ENDED TWICE BECAUSE OF THE SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER (THE SPEED DROPS INSTANTLY). IT'S BEEN HAPPENING CONSTANTLY SINCE JUNE 2016. DRIVING SHORT DISTANCES WITHIN THE CITY IS NOT A PROBLEM, BUT CAN'T DRIVE SAFELY ON 75MPH HIGHWAYS WITHOUT LOSING POWER.
WE WERE DRIVING BACK HOME WHEN MY HUSBAND NOTICED THAT THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE ABOVE 65 MPH. THIS OCCURRED ABOUT HALFWAY HOME, SO ABOUT 200 MILES INTO OUR DRIVE BACK HOME (OF THE 350 MILE TOTAL). THE CAR WAS NOT OVERHEATED, NOR WAS IT MAKING NOISE. HE WOULD PUT HIS FOOT DOWN ALL THE WAY ON THE ACCELERATOR, AS IF HE WANTED TO GO FULL SPEED AND IT WOULD NOT RESPOND. THERE WEREN'T ANY WARNING LIGHTS LIT UP ON THE CONSOLE, AND IT WAS NOT OVERHEATED. WE IMMEDIATELY CALLED OUR LOCAL HONDA DEALER AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM WE WERE HAVING. THEY SAID WE COULD TAKE THE CAR INTO THEM, BUT WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY $150 JUST FOR THE INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE, AND THEY CONFIRMED THERE WASN'T A RECALL SO WE WOULD ALSO HAVE TO FOOT THE BILL FOR THE REPAIRS. WE STOPPED TO EAT AND CALM OUR NERVES AND GOT BACK ON THE ROAD. WHEN WE GOT BACK IN THE CAR, THE PROBLEM DID NOT START UP AGAIN UNTIL A FEW MONTHS LATER, DURING OUR NEXT LONG DRIVE AWAY FROM HOME, AND HAVE AVOIDED TAKING IT ON LONG TRIPS SINCE THEN. THIS WAS MY FIRST AND LAST NISSAN. I CAN'T WAIT TO GET RID OF THE ROGUE! IT HAS PROVEN TO BE BUSY WITH ELECTRICAL ISSUES. *JS

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ROGUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND FELT AS IF THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS APPLIED. THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED IN HIGH GEAR. THE HESITATION RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY FOR OVER TWO MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
WHEN DRIVING MY CAR FOR ABOUT AN HOUR, CAR LOOSES SPEED AND WILL NOT GO FASTER THAN 40 MILES AN HOUR, EVEN WHEN PRESSING PEDDLE TO THE FLOOR. TOOK MY CAR TO NISSAN DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS TOLD COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. ADVISED SERVICE DEPT, YOU WOULD HAVE TO DRIVE FOR AN HOUR, THEN THE PROBLEM WOULD REPEAT. THE DEALER DID MAINTENANCE ON MY VEHICLE ON 09/11/12 (DRAINED AND FILLED CVT WITH NEW FLUID). AT THIS TIME MY CAR WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY HAD A FIX FOR THIS KNOWN ISSUE AND I WAS NOT ADVISED. TOOK MY CAR BACK ON 08/24/13 DUE STILL HAVING SAME ISSUE WITH CAR LOOSING SPEED WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS TOLD, "GOOD NEWS THERE IS A FIX, BAD NEWS YOUR CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. WHILE MY CAR WAS UNDER WARRANTY, IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED. *TR
MY ROGUE IS HAVING INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS WITH ACCELERATION AFTER DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. IT DOES IT WHEN IT SLOWS AND YOU TRY TO START GOING AGAIN AND IT DOES IT WHEN YOU STOP AFTER BEING ON THE HIGHWAY AND TRY TO START GOING AGAIN. IT DOES NOT DO IT EVERY TIME THE CAR IS DRIVEN ON THE HIGHWAY EITHER. I PUSHED THE PEDAL TO THE FLOOR AND THE CAR DID NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. FREQUENTLY, IT WAS STUCK AT A THE SPEED IN WHICH THE CAR WAS IN BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE. AFTER EXITING THE FREEWAY THERE WAS ALSO TROUBLE WITH ACCELERATING. ADDITIONALLY, THERE IS A STRANGE WHIRLY NOISE. THIS CONTINUED SPORADICALLY FOR SEVERAL MILES. *TR
AFTER TRAVELING 50 MILES, MY 2008 NISSAN ROGUE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AT THE FIRST STOP LIGHT. THIS OCCURRED AGAIN ON 7/17/2013. I TRAVELED 50 MILES AND AGAIN THE CAR FAILED TO ACCELERATE AT THE FIRST STOP. I CALLED NISSAN CONSUMER AFFAIRS AND THEY CLAIM NOT TO HAVE ANY KNOWLEDGE OF THIS TYPE OF INCIDENT OCCURRING IN THE ROGUE. I RESEARCHED VARIOUS FORUMS ON THE INTERNET AND IT SEEMS TO BE PREVALENT IN NISSAN'S CVT TRANSMISSION. THE NISSAN REP SAID THAT "NISSAN DOESN'T SUPPORT GOOGLE" WHEN I TOLD HER WHAT WAS BEING REPORTED ON THE INTERNET. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE THAT PUTS MY FAMILY AT RISK OF SERIOUS INJURY. THE CAR IS SCHEDULED FOR SERVICE NEXT WEEK. I FEAR THAT NISSAN IS NOT BEING ACCOUNTABLE FOR THIS ISSUE FROM WHAT I'VE READ. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 NISSAN ROGUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REVERSING FROM A RESIDENTIAL GARAGE, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE STOPPED MOVING WHEN IT CRASHED INTO SEVERAL OBJECTS ON THE ROAD, INTO A TREE AND THEN STALLED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON TWO OCCASIONS. WHEN THE SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED THE DRIVER RECEIVED INJURIES TO THE BACK AND WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL. THE POLICE WERE NOT NOTIFIED AND A REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO INFORMED HIM THAT THERE WAS NO EVIDENCE OF A FAILURE DURING DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 28,835.
