I was t-boned in my driver side from a driver ran a red light and my air bags did not deploy, with that my head hit the driver side window
NHTSA Campaign #: 16V244000 Passenger airbag off
The passenger side air bag shows as off when someone is sitting in the seat. This was a recall issue on other model Rogues and this is a serious safety hazard. Nissan should be making this a recall for other model years!
Took car to local mechanic for airbag light. The passenger seat sensors register that someone is not sitting in the seat when someone is. The passenger seat OFF light is constantly on regardless of someone in the seat. Mechanic tried to reprogram and fix the car computer. That did not work so mechanic took the rogue to the local Nissan to have them reprogram the computer. The dealer could not reprogram it. The next solution was to replace the passenger seat sensors or the entire passenger seat and then reprogram the computer. Elected to not fix this as this was a similar from a recall of 2016 and earlier Nissan rogues.
My 16 year old son was driving the 2017 nissan rogue on [XXX] to our home around 7:30 pm. He veered and right front of vehicle struck a curb. Immediately the passenger side airbags exploded. The two airbag curtain side bags and the front passenger seat side airbag all 3 deployed. First, the airbags should not have deployed and secondly, if this had been a collision with another vehicle, the specific airbags that deployed wouldn't have prevented injury. If there had been a passenger in the front seat, they could have been severely injured by the deployment. The car was towed to a nissan dealership who ran a diagnostic for 200.00. They advised that the cost to replace would be 14K. Given the takata airbag recalls, I should have received a recall notice as I am the original owner of this vehicle. Luckily my son was not injured, but I need to report and hear back from this incident! I believe I should be reimbursed by nissan the replacement value of my vehicle. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The airbag system in my 2017 Nissan Rogue malfunctioned. The airbag warning light turned on, indicating a potential failure in the system. The vehicle and its components are available for inspection if needed. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? The malfunctioning airbag system compromises the vehicle's ability to deploy airbags in the event of a collision, putting my safety and the safety of others at risk. If the airbags do not deploy correctly during an accident, it could lead to severe injuries or even fatalities. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? Yes, the problem has been confirmed by a Nissan dealership. They informed me that the airbag system malfunctioned due to a defect in the sensor, and they recommended a repair costing approximately $4,000. However, they stated that the repair would not be covered under warranty. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others? The vehicle has been inspected by a Nissan dealership, which confirmed the issue with the airbag system. The vehicle has not been inspected by police, insurance representatives, or other independent service centers. Were there any warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? Yes, the airbag warning light turned on, indicating a malfunction in the system. This warning light first appeared approximately a week ago.
Was driving on [XXX] from Sioux Falls, SD to Rapid City, SD on [XXX]. Just east of the [XXX], SD exit, we hit black ice driving approximately 75mph. We lost control, and the car went head first into a metal cable guard rail. The front end is destroyed, and the front doors and roof also received significant damage. I do believe that insurance is going to consider it a total loss based upon my observation and the response of the body shop it is currently at. None of the airbags deployed, even given the speed we were driving and the direct head on impact. The Trooper originally said that he was not going to ticket me for anything as I was driving under the speed limit and not overdriving, however, came back later and said that he would have to ticket me because the DOT would throw a fit if he didn't because they would have to fix the guard rail. The Supplemental air bag warning light illuminated. I call dealership and they are willing to schedule an appointment and charge $225 for a diagnostic test. Depending on the issue, the solution/remedy may cost anywhere between $300 and $1000. In my situation, the supplemental air bag warning light remains on after approximately 7 seconds.
The contact owns a 2017 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who informed the contact that the OCS control module and OCS sensors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact related the failure to Technical Service Bulletin Number: B17-043 (Air Bags). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.
My air bag light was on, so I took it in and they said that it was an umbrella that was the problem which I have never heard of. So now I can't put anything in the back seat. After that the light kept going on and off now it's on all the time. So they said that it would cost me thousands of dollars to fix. I think it's a line so they don't have to fix it. My rogue is 2017 and only has 20000 miles.I think there's a problem with the air bags lights.
BEFORE THE 3 YEAR WARRANTY ON CAR RAN OUT. WHEN WE BROUGHT CAR INTO DEALERSHIP FOR OIL CHANGES AND CHECKUPS WE MENTIONED THAT PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS GOING ON AND OFF. BROUGHT BACK INTO DEALERSHIP AFTER 3 YEARS AND ASKED THEM TO REPAIR PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG THAT WAS STAYING ON CONSTANTLY...THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THEY WANTED AT LEAST $600 TO REPAIR OR TRY TO FIX IT AND THEY SAID THEY HAD NO RECORD OF OUR COMPLAINTS LISTED FOR OUR CAR! LEFT DEALERSHIP WITH NO WORK DONE DUE TO WE DID NOT HAVE FUNDS FOR THAT. TOOK OUR CAR IN 11/2022 TO AN AUTO REPAIR SERVICE SHOP AND THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC AND RECALABER ON THIS PROBLEM. NOTHING WORKED AT THE COST OF $265. WAS TOLD BY BOTH PLACES THAT PASSENGER FRONT SIDE AIRBAG COULD OR COULD NOT WORK..NO WAY OF TELLING UNLESS AIR BAGS WERE DEPLOYED. TOLD TO TAKE BACK TO DEALERSHIP AND HAVE THEM DO WORK.....LIKE CHECK WIRING UNDER SEATS ETC. DO OTHER NISSAN ROGUE OWNERS HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM?
The contact owned a 2017 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while her son was driving at 70 MPH, he was rear-ended by another vehicle which caused him to crash into the vehicle in front of him. The air bags did not deploy upon impact. Her son was taken to the hospital where he was treated for multiple injuries to his head, both legs, both wrists, and back. The whereabouts of the other drivers were unknown. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent tow lot where it was deemed a total loss. The dealer nor the manufacturer had been notified of the failure. The vehicle was destroyed. The failure mileage was approximately 110,000.
The passenger side airbag occupancy sensor is not working and therefore the airbag will not work. This is the same issue with other Nissan Rogue’s and a recall in this same year and yet our VIN is not included. It is very likely that cars have been missed on this recall as there is no other reason for this part to not be working.
Hi Nissan Team, my Nissan Rogue 2017 it has the Air Bag Icon On over 3 Weeks, I am feeling worry and unsafe right Roa, please as soon a possible I need a Recall for this Air Bag problem been fix it. Thanks!!
Beginning of September 2022 the warning light for passenger side airbags came on. This error causes all airbags to shut off. I-95 Nissan said a new sensor was needed. I had to pay in full for part. They said part was back ordered. When I asked for a loaner car saying my car wasn’t safe I was told “It’s a safe car, just drive carefully ” and “Lots of cars on the road don’t have airbags”. Every week I was told no ETA for part. I took car to private mechanic who verified issue. Filed a report with Nissan corporation, they still have no ETA for part. It has been almost 3 months of no airbags and NO help from Nissan. This car is only 5 years old. This is unacceptable. The response from Nissan is negligent. I have no other option but to drive this car. I can’t afford a new car!
Passenger air bag light is on. Took to my local dealership for an oil change and for them to look/fix the warning light or air bag for the passenger side front seat bag. Told them I have mentioned the light coming on and off when my car was under warranty in the past. Was told by Nissan service person that they have no record of problem. They wanted over $600 for oil change, and fixing warning light (plus they said I needed all the fluids in my car changed). We don't have $600 plus for problem that should be fixed by Nissan. We left and did not have repairs done. I am worried that air bag won't deploy if there is an accident.
The OCS system has failed in my car. The passenger airbags are constantly turned off, even when a full sized adult is in the passenger seat, therefore putting them at risk if a crash were to occur. The yellow light indicating that the passenger airbag system is turned off is constantly on, as well as the red light on the dashboard indicating an airbag problem. These constant warning lights began May 19, 2022. I have not yet taken the vehicle in to be inspected. I have researched this issue, and it does seem to be a problem among Nissan Rogues.
Air bag sensor light displayed. Took to the Nissan Dealership and the initial diagnosis was a reset of the sensors. Within a couple days the air bag sensor light displayed again. I took the vehicle back to the Nissan dealer, and was advised that occupant sensor unit failure and both sensors and control unit needed to be replaced. These types of saftey equipment should not fail in a vehicle that is only 5 years old. I read a report that this defect was part of a recall.
The passenger side airbag occupancy sensor is not working and therefore the airbag will not work. This is the same issue with other Nissan Rogue’s and a recall in this same year and yet our VIN is not included. It is very likely that cars have been missed on this recall as there is no other reason for this part to not be working.
Seatbelt light on panel went on
AIRBAG RED ICON SHOWED UP ON DASH AND STAYED ON WAS TOLD IT COULD COST UP TO ABOUT $850.00 T0 $3,000 TO REPAIR WITH A 1 YEAR WARRANTY AND THERE WERE NO RECALLS. I TOOK IT TO DAYTONA NISSAN SERVICE DEPT. DAYTONA BEACH, Fl. My car is unsafe to drive now, what can you do? Thank You, [XXX] 09/07/22 INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
Passenger airbag light sensor fails to turn on when passenger is in seat. Does not register a passenger in seat
I was t- boned. My air bags did not deploy, my insurance company has my vehicle and I have contacted Nissan and waiting for a reply. I do have pictures of my vehicle as I was hurt in this accident and still receiving treatment and waitning on getting another MRI
I was in a four car accident Friday. Major front end and rear end damage. My car was totaled and no airbags deployed.
The contact was leasing a 2017 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving at 30-35 MPH, another vehicle crashed into the driver-side front end of the vehicle. The other driver ran a stop sign at 40 MPH and sustained chest pain injuries. The air bags did not deploy. The contact was transported to the hospital where it was diagnosed that she sustained a sternum fracture, a T-12 wedge compression fracture of the Spine, a L-5 lumbar fracture. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot, where it was totaled. The dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 18,000.
