Check engine light comes on and then the engine sputters as the car slowly shuts off. Safety at risk because it happened while I was on highway

My car engine randomly shut down while in drive and would not drive on two occasions. Nissan cannot find any evidence that anything is wrong with my car. They refuse to assist despite this being a known issue. They told me I should pay to take it to another Nissan dealership to pay for another diagnostic test. Radiator cooling fan defect that causes safety hazards and costly repairs. There's even an active class action claim filed against Nissan in Tennessee federal court Case No.[XXX]. My vehicle has been inspected by an independent service center who agreed and acknowledged the shop has experienced multiple customers who've had the same issue and repairs needed, with 2016-2020 Nissans especially. The dealership itself quoted $1800 for repairs! I'm a pretty proactive person, so caught the issue before my engine overheated and any warning lights turned on, but noticed when the radiator fan stopped turning once car was idled. Just want to make NHTSA aware of this ongoing issue and danger this can potentially be for Nissan consumers. My daughters vehicle 2017 Nissan Rogue has been jerking for months now. No check engine has been on. I have been told it is likely a transmission problem After doing some research this has been an ongoing problem with the Nissan Rogue but no recall has been issued in the state of Oklahoma. It also doesn’t help that it has over 100,000 miles now. This is not an affordable fix but Nissan needs to fix it and others who are having the issue before someone gets hurt or it causes accidents If a recall and settlement has been made in other states all states should have been included Nissan knew this was a problem and failed to handle it accordingly

Apr 2024

My vehicle is starting to jerk at times. Doesn't do it all the time, but it is bad. When driving it will jerk, and if the speed is 45 mph and you hold it at that speed the steering wheel will shake. The engine doesn't sound right. I have had it checked and it is the transmission. Yes there's is a recall on it. But since no lights have come on the Transmission can not be replaced. Something needs to be done before I am stranded some where. Don't know what the big deal is for you to fix it when you know there are problems with it.

Around 80,000 miles our car, when it's been driven about an hour, starts to hesitate when I escalate when slowed or stopped. It's about a 3 second hesitation that is very dangerous if I try to drive across a busy 4 lane road. I have come very close to being hit several times due to this hesitation. I am very aware there has been lawsuits in regards to this. I read in the lawsuit that Nissan put some sort of chip in the engine to allow it to last longer but it also causes this hesitation when the engine gets warm. In order to stop this, I have to literally shut the car off, back on, then this hesitation stops for awhile. It's as if the microchip has been rebooted or something when the car is shut off. I called the dealership here an they say they never heard of this but I find it hard to believe since others like me with this 2017 ROGUE, have the same issues and some have paid for a new transmission. I cannot afford that especially when it's Nissan who is causing it. I did contact Nissan and they told me since the mileage is over 100,000 now they will do nothing. I haven't taken it to the dealer service after a conversation I had over the phone. I was treated unfairly and talked down to for being female. They spoke to me as if I was terribly ignorant. I told them I read about other people's issue with the ROGUE from the class action suit. I didn't just read it off some web page. Besides, even if they diagnosed my car for what I have described, I Don't have the money to replace a transmission and hope to get refunded from some lawsuit years from now. By then I could be dead in that car. Can't afford to get a new car. If you all don't take this seriously, I at least want it filed so that if something happens one of my final requests will to have my husband follow through with a lawsuit. We try to avoid driving situations because of this. Why won't Nissan just replace the microchip? What do I do?

Incident: Sep 2022
Jul 2022

When driving the vehicle on the highway, it suddenly felt like it is decelerating (slowing down ready to stall or completely stop). This all happened suddenly. It continued to move forward, but there was a large "malfunction" sign that showed up in the middle of the dash screen. It was extremely dangerous, as I was driving my 1.5 year old grandchild home from daycare. After having the vehicle connected to a auto diagnostic machine, the codes that came up were part of a known Nissan issue (Service Bulletin: NTB18-077, APPLIED TRANSMISSION: CVT (RE0F10D)).

THE VEHICLE INITIALLY WOULD NOT START ON 1/17/18 WHILE PARKED. I CALLED NISSAN ROADSIDE AND THEY SENT A TOW TRUCK A FEW HOURS LATER. VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO BE JUMPED. TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ISSUE. I GOT THE VEHICLE BACK SEVERAL DAYS LATER AND THE PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN. I WAS AT WORK SO I WAITED ON CALLING FOR A TOW AND WHEN I WENT BACK OUT IT TURNED OVER. IN MARCH, I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN STATIONARY AND COULD NOT BE JUMPED SO IT WAS TOWED. THE DEALER TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT FIND AN ISSUE SO I TOOK THE CAR BACK. ON 8/18/18 I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN I FELT THE CAR SEEM TO LOSE POWER AND HEARD A WHINING OR WHISTLING NOISE WHICH I INITIALLY THOUGHT WAS A WINDOW SLIGHTLY OPEN. I GOT OFF THE INTERSTATE AND PARKED IN THE CLOSEST AREA I COULD. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AND I AGAIN CALLED NISSAN ROADSIDE. THE DEALER HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 2-3 WEEKS AND AGAIN RETURNED IT TELLING ME IT WAS OK. ON 9/11/18 I WENT TO GET LUNCH AND THE VEHICLE STOPPED WORKING IN A PARKING LOT. I TOOK VIDEO ON 9/11/18 OF THE PROBLEM AND AGAIN HAD TO BE TOWED AND FIND A RIDE HOME (1 HOUR FROM HOME). NOW I AM TOLD THE DEALER ADDED SOME "HARNESS" AND IT SHOULD WORK FINE SO I SHOULD COME PICK IT UP. THIS VEHICLE IS CLEARLY DANGEROUS. I WAS DRIVING SO I WAS ABLE TO HANDLE IT BUT IF MY WIFE OR SOMEBODY ELSE WAS DRIVING I REALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED. I HAVE FURTHER REPAIR ORDERS NOT INCLUDED IN THE ATTACHED DOCUMENTS.

AS I WAS PARKING MY CAR ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. I HAD TO STEP ON THE BRAKES RAPIDLY TO PREVENT HITTING ANOTHER CAR. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED. THE FIRST TIME I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, IT HAPPENED SO FAST, I THOUGHT THE GAS PEDAL STUCK. NOW I REALIZE THAT WAS NOT THE CASE, IT WAS AN UNINTENDED ACCELERATION AS WELL. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER THE FIRST TIME AND THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG. NOTHING WAS DONE. I WILL TAKE IT IN TOMORROW. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SCARY. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR NOW.
