Back window shattered which seems to be a common issue looking at reports from others

Sep 2024

Just sitting in the driver's seat of the vehicle and the rear window exploded. Nothing touched it, nothing hit or bumped it. It just shattered. The car was parked as I had just gotten into it less than a minute prior. Only the driver's door was opened and shut for me to get into the vehicle prior to this incident. The hatch was not opened or closed directly prior to the back glass exploding. Upon doing a simple Google search, I am finding that it has happened to other people as well with these vehicles.

Driving on street when second row, passenger window literally exploded. No other cars near by, no impact of any kind…it simply exploded as if it were shot at. I actually called police and they said this did not happen. There are MANY reports on internet of similar occurrences to other people. Nissan accepts no responsibility.

we were driving west on i26 in nc, when the engine failure light came on, the car bucked and would not go. pulled off road, car did power up but would not go. if this had happened 6 miles later we would have been in constuction with cement barriers on both sides and unable to pull over. semi trucks were going 70 miles an hr and unable to stop. we, along with many other people would have been killed. car was towed to nissan dealership in hendersonville nc. the faulty part was the throttle body in my 2023 nissan rogue with 1400 miles on it. the head mechanic said they just fixed an identical car with same mileage 2 hrs earlier with same problem. also he said they have done this several times before. its been a week now and my car stills sits there because they are unable to find the part. My assumption is they cant get the part because so many cars have failed. now they need to put the same flawed part back on my car to fix it. i am scared to death to drive it. please recall this vehicle asap before many people are killed or hurt. thanks , trying to prevent deaths ,injuries and pain

When I park my 2023 Nissan Rogue in the garage, the garage fills with a strong gas smell. This happens about 50% of the time. There are no performance issues or warning lights involved. I took it to the dealership for assessment yesterday. They did not find evidence of a leak. They said Nissan is aware of this and is investigating and that there is no danger at this time. I believe this does create a health and safety risk to myself and my family and possibly to my home. They also reported that Nissan suggests this issue could be due to winterized gas. This response does not indicate that Nissan accepts responsibility or cares to solve this problem.

The "Engine Malfunction Power Reduced" light came on while I was driving on a highway during a traffic slow down in Houston, TX on September 9, 2023. After the light came on, I stepped on the accelerator and the vehicle was moving very slowly. I quickly turned on the emergency lights to alert other drivers on the highway and pulled slowly towards the right shoulder. I drove on the right shoulder very slowly even by stepping all the way on the accelerator and exited the driveway. I stopped at a nearly gas station and turned off the engine. I let the engine turned off for 3 to 5 minutes and restarted the vehicle. The "Engine Malfunction Power Reduced" went off and it drove fine after that. It could be a very dangerous situation if this was not happened during a traffic slow down. Fortunately, I was able to get out of the highway safely. This happen when the vehicle total mileage was only at about 9872 miles. I drove the vehicle back to Round Rock, TX and ordered a maintenance service at the Nissan dealership on 9/11/2023. I left the vehicle with the service department for 3 days. After 3 days, the service department told me it was the battery issue and they replaced the battery. I was told the issued was fixed. However, after about a week or two after the service, the "Engine Malfunction Power Reduced" light came on again on 9/22/2023 while starting at a parking lot. I turned off the engine for a few minutes and restarted the vehicle and the light went off. The second time this happen when the vehicle total mileage was at about 10,316 miles. The service department told me the issue was fixed but the issue appears to be still there. I will bring the vehicle back to service but I have totally lost confident in driving the vehicle.

ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS IN THE PAST 2 WEEKS MY NISSAN ROGUE WHILE IN THE IDLING/PARK POSITION WILL GET A BAD GAS FUME SMELL INSIDE THE VEHICLE. I DID CALL FERRARIO NISSAN IN SAYRE PA AND TOLD THEM ABOUT THE SITUATION. THE SERVICE DEPT, PERSONELL TOLD ME THAT IF ITS NOT A CONSTANT SMELL THAT THEY CANNOT REALLY DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THEY TOLD ME TO STOP IN WHEN IT HAPPENS, BUT USUALLY IN JUST A FEW MINUTES WHEN PUTTING IT BACK IN THE DRIVE POSITION THE SMELL WILL GO AWAY. THIS SCARES ME THAT THE ROUGUE MIGHT CATCH ON FIRE OR THE SMELL MAY CAUSE HARM TO ME OR MY GRANDCHILDREN BY BREATHING IT IN. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS, THANK YOU, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Monday, June 17, 2023 at approximately 9:10 am I was driving my 4 month Nissan Rogue 2023 on 91N in Connecticut near exit 23/24 in traffic in the 2nd lane in 4 total under speed limit during the end of rush hour. My sunroof without warning exploded. It was terrifying and I believed it was a plane, or a explosive truck blowing up. My ears rang for minutes and it was so difficult not to duck and hide or flee my automobile. I had no idea what happened. It was traumatizing and thought my tire at first blew out or engine was going to have flames expel from it. I almost pulled over, but thought it was safer to get off exit 24 Wethersfield. I was stunned when the entire sunroof of the drivers seat and passenger seat exploded out. There were minimal small pieces around the perimeter, but the entire glass was gone as if it flew up and out. Luckily, I had no passengers and my roof was shut with no glass exposed that morning. Almost always I allow the sun to shine in, but forgot my sunglasses. I brought it to the dealership immediately and waiting to hear the outcome. I can’t get out of my head the anxiety of how loud the explosion was. I am shocked it has happened to many other models and several cases of my car. I have seen dangerous glass fall inside of cars. I feel so fortunate I didn’t create an accident by how distracted and terrifying it was. Just because no one has died because of an explosion of a sunroof should not warrant a closed case. It was the scariest thing I ever experienced and am afraid for my passengers safety in the future.

When using the backup camera, the screen will turn black while the car is in motion. This happens every time I drive my car. I have taken the car to the dealership I purchased it from twice, and have been told that they cannot duplicate the issue. They say that Nissan has to send an update via flash drive for my car to download. In my last visit, my paperwork stated "Nissan still has not released an update for radio system". This has been a problem since I purchased the car in 11/2022, and has gotten worse over time.

The following message has shown up twice on my vehicle's information system. Warning Engine Malfunction Power reduced Service Now The first time this happened was about 2 weeks ago, around June 2nd. The car was towed into the dealership but they couldn't find anything wrong. Then yesterday, June 21, 2023 I had the car serviced at the dealer for it's first oil change. The car was purchased on Jan, 13, 2023 and has about 3800 miles on it. The engine warning up again on June 22, 2023 at about 3:00PM after it was started up. When this warning occurs, the cars power is reduced and the car can't go any faster than about 5 miles per hour. Very dangerous if this happens on a highway. I was fortunate that both times this has happened near my house and I drove the car back home at that reduced speed.

The smell of gas is so strong inside and outside of the cabin of the vehicle, that it is causing health issues. Nissan told me to put the car on air circulation as a temporary fix, but it is not working. My entire body is shaky and I’m suffering from migraines and nausea.

My daughter and I we leaving Walmart in Mulberry, FL. We has been there a few hours starting at 10:15 am. We got our nails done and then shopped for a little while. When I got in the car I let it run for about 10 minutes and then left. It was not too hot in the car when we left. We drove less than a mile and we stopped at the light in front of the 7-11 turning onto Shepherd Road. We just missed green light so sat for a couple of minutes. We were joking about spending almost 4 hours at the store. All the sudden it sounds like a bomb went off. We had no idea what happened and as I looked the back window blew out. We waited for light and pulled into Walgreens. The car behind me also followed me in. He asked if we were okay. He said all the sudden glass was hitting his hood. He said nothing hit the car and he had never seen anything like it! I called the dealership and they told me it was an emergency and to come straight over. We headed over and now they are saying they have to talk to corporate. They have never seen this before (not according to internet) and it’s probably going to be my issue. https://www.nissanforums.com/threads/nissan-window-exploded.275392/page-2#post-1739123

The vehicle has a very poor low volume horn. Three times I was on a freeway and attempted to blow the horn to warn the driver next to me because they moved into my driving lane and if I did not put on my brakes, it would have caused an accident. The other driver never heard the horn, as compared to my other vehicle I own and other vehicles I owned in the past this horn's sound is like a horn on a child's toy.

When parked and off, or sitting in idle a major smell of gasoline is spewing out of the hvac system in the car. It makes me nauseous and major headaches. This can’t be safe to drive. This has always been an issue. I’ve only owned the vehicle since December.

The cabin of the vehicle fills with a gasoline odor when driven. When I park the vehicle in the garage (with engine OFF), the garage fills with a gasoline odor. I have experienced nausea and headaches with the smell. My oldest child has complained about the smell and making his head hurt. It is very concerning that my ATTACHED garage fills with gasoline odor and could continue into my residence. I am now forced to park my vehicle outside and can not have my two children in the vehicle. I took the vehicle back to the dealership and they initially claimed it was an O Ring around the gasoline tank. They replaced it and the issue still continued. They then advised that Nissan is aware of this issue but does not have a fix at this time. There are cases around the country with this issue. I am now using a loaner vehicle from the dealership until Nissan finds a fix. There is approximately 5,300 miles on the vehicle. There are no warning messages on the dash. This problem started at the beginning of January.
