POWER STEERING FAILED WHILE DRIVING.
THE POWER STEERING LIGHT HAS COME UP 2 TIMES WITHIN THE LAST 2 WEEKS. BOTH TIMES HAVE BEEN WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED AND I TURN IT ON. THE LIGHT COMES UP AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS. BOTH TIMES I HAVE TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY. IF THIS EVER HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY I WILL PROBABLY LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASH. THE CAR ONLY HAD 35105 MILES ON IT.
POWER STEERING LIGHT COMES ON AND POWER STEERING IS LOST MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN WHEEL. HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE STARTING THE CAR AND HAS HAPPENED TWICE WHILE DRIVING. TURNING THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTING SEEMS TO HELP, HOWEVER WHILE DRIVING THIS ISN'T ALWAYS POSSIBLE.
THE POWER STEERING LIGHT ON MY 2011 VERSA OCCASIONALLY GOES ON AND THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND THEN THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO GO AWAY. THIS HAS HAPPENED MAYBE 3-4 TIMES IN THE PAST 4 MONTHS? I CALLED THE DEALER TO SEE IF THEY CAN FIX IT AND THEY SAID IT IS SOMETHING THAT I SHOULD TRY TO LIVE WITH SINCE IT IS SO RARE. THEY OFFERED NO SOLUTION OR A WAY FOR THEM TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. MY DAUGHTER DRIVES THIS CAR AND IT MAKES ME NERVOUS THAT THE POWER STEERING COULD GO OUT AT ANY TIME. I CAN'T IMAGINE THAT THIS IS AN ACCEPTABLE SOLUTION FOR A NISSAN PRODUCT? THIS SEEMS LIKE A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN?
POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AFTER INITIALLY STARTING THE VEHICLE. POWER STEERING SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. WILL RANDOMLY FIX ITSELF AFTER TURNING CAR OFF AND RESTARTING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 NISSAN VERSA. WHILE MAKING A LEFT A TURN, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE AND STATED THAT THE RACK AND PINION FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,150.
I WAS DROPPING OFF SOMEONE, THE CAR WAS IDLING, AND ONCE IT WAS CLEAR TO DRIVE THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND IT WAS VERY HARD TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. I DROVE IT TO A SCHOOL THAT WAS A MILE AWAY, PARKED, AND THEN TURN IT OFF. I GAVE IT A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND THEN I TURNED IT ON AND THE STEERING WORKED FINE. SO FAR IT HAS NOT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS CAR IS ALMOST 4 YEARS OLD AND ONLY HAS 30,000 MILES. WE ARE VERY SURPRISED, THOUGH I HAVE GONE ON SOME NISSAN WEBSITES AND SAW THAT THIS IS HAPPENING TO OTHER OWNERS. CURRENTLY THIS IS NOT UNDER RECALL, BUT ARE HOPING IT WILL BE. WE TOOK IT TO NISSAN THIS WEEKEND AND THEY TOLD US THE PART RUNS 600.00$, THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST IS 175.00$, AND THEN THE LABOR COST. WE WERE NOT EXPECTING TO HAVE SUCH AN EXPENSIVE PROBLEM WITH THE NEWEST CAR WE OWN. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF I THERE IS ANYTHING FURTHER THAT I CAN DO. I WAS DRIVING HOME AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. CAUAING ME TO HIT A PARKED CAR. *TR
I HAVE A MAJOR STEERING ISSUE WITH MY 2009 NISSAN VERSA SL. THE DEALERSHIP, SOUTHERN STATES NISSAN IN RALEIGH NC, HAS ATTEMPTED TO FIX THE VEHICLE 4 TIMES, BUT HAS FAILED. WHEN MAKING RIGHT TURNS I EXPERIENCE CLUNKING, POPPING, AND VIBRATIONS AT LOW SPEEDS. THE SERVICE HAS NOT BEEN SATISFACTORY BECAUSE I HAVE ALREADY TAKEN THE CAR BACK ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS, AND THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. I HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH MY VERSA FOR MORE THAN A YEAR, AND I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR ON 4 SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE VERSA MAKES A SLIGHT "THUNK" NOISE WHEN MAKING SLOW RIGHT HAND TURNS, AND I CAN ALSO FEEL IT IN THE STEERING WHEEL. IT SEEMS MORE PREVALENT WHEN LEAVING A PARKING LOT OR DRIVEWAY, WHEN I TURN RIGHT (OR MOVE THE WHEEL BACK RIGHT AFTER A LEFT HAND TURN, TO STRAIGHTEN OUT THE CAR). ALL THESE ISSUES ARE ACTING WHEN THE VEHICLE IS DRIVING SLOWLY AND MAKING RIGHT TURNS, AND MORE SO WHEN GOING UP OR DOWN ELEVATIONS, IT HAPPENS VERY LOUDLY AFTER THE STEERING WHEEL HAS BEEN ROTATED FROM THE FULL CLOCKWISE (RIGHT HAND TURN) AND IS BEING RETURNED TO THE STRAIGHT AHEAD POSITION. THE CLUNK IS ALWAYS THERE AT 1 TO 1 1/4 TURN FROM THE FULL CLOCKWISE STOP. *TR
