ABS MODULE FAILED. MECHANIC TELLS ME THAT THERE ARE NO REPLACEMENT PARTS AVAILABLE. A USED PART MAY BE NECESSARY AND WOULD HAVE TO BE REPROGRAMMED TO MY VEHICLE AT ADDED EXPENSE. LOOKS TO ME THAT THERE ARE SO MANY RAM TRUCKS EXPERIENCING THIS SAME ISSUE AND SOME HAVE RECALLS, BUT 2015 MODEL I OWN IS NOT COVERED. WHY? HOW CAN THIS BE ALLOWED? PARTNO LONGER MADE? THAT IS UNBELIEVABLE. WE RAM OWNERS NEED HELP FROM NHTSA. HELP US PLEASE. IM A RETIRED MAN WHO NEEDS HIS VEHICLE.
ABS module failed and showed the warning lights. It happened ? years ago and I took it to dealership but still can not get the part to have repaired. This has affected the anti lock brakes, traction control and disables the cruise control. I have lost control coming to a stop light during a rain but luckily didn't hit anything during the slide. Hard to believe that they don't have a fix for this yet!
Good Moring. I have a 2015 and seems to be an on going problem with these years not. The ABS Module fails, turning off the ABS, trailer brakes, cruise control and lights on the dash. The other problem is you can not find any new modulars. the ABS block corrodes causing this part to fail. If you find a used one you can not program it to the vehicle. With this being a safety hazard and Dodge not having the part available I believe this should be a recall. The truck has a blue book of about 20k but with this part failing not only can I not do emissions due to the lights on the dash but it deems the vehicle worthless. ABS module failure. Indicator lamps for ABS, Traction control, and Brakes are all lit. Getting wheel spin and loss of traction on wet roads. My truck is currently at Thomas Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of Highland, 9604 Indianapolis Blvd, Highland, IN 46322. Service Advisor Noah, has advised me that Mopar part number: 68228991AD (ABS Control Module for Ram 1500) has failed and is not available. Upon doing my own research, it turns out the part is manufacturer discontinued and has very limited availability as refurbished or used.
Anti-lock brake module faulty - shorted out. Recall on newer modules but not older ones
Internal Failure with the (ABS) System Module / (EBCM) Electric Brake Control Module.
I am filing this complaint regarding a serious and ongoing safety defect in my 2015 Ram 1500 involving the failure of the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) module (Part No. 68228991AD). This failure completely disables the ABS, significantly reducing the vehicle’s braking performance and increasing the risk of loss of control or collision during emergency braking situations. This is a well-documented and widespread issue among Ram 1500 owners. Chrysler has discontinued the manufacture and supply of the affected ABS module, leaving owners without a viable means to restore this critical safety system. I have been placed on a waiting list for over two years for a replacement part, yet I have been informed repeatedly that there is no assurance one will ever become available. The dealership has even advised me to “buy a new truck” if I wish to have properly functioning anti-lock brakes. This situation is not only unreasonable—it is dangerous. The lack of a functioning ABS system places my family, my passengers, and others on the road at significant risk. The inability to obtain a replacement for a vital safety component effectively renders the vehicle unsafe for operation. I am aware that Ram recently issued a recall affecting approximately 1.5 million trucks for the same ABS defect. However, my model year has been excluded, despite exhibiting the identical failure. This selective recall leaves hundreds of affected consumers without recourse or protection. I respectfully request that Chrysler and the relevant regulatory authorities investigate this matter, extend the existing recall to include the 2015 Ram 1500, and compel the manufacturer to resume production and distribution of the necessary replacement parts to remedy this critical safety defect.
The ABS, Traction Control, Trailer Breaking lights are on also impacting Adaptive Cruise Control making them all inoperable, even though the truck is still able to be drive, albeit unsafely. I took it to my local dealership and was told the ABS Control Module, part number 68228991AD was identified as bad and in need of replacing at approximately $2000 and that the part is on indefinite backorder. I've been on the "waiting list" for roughly 8 months. I tried to locate the part on my own and there is in fact a nationwide backorder. After further investigation, I found multiple owners on Ram forums either having or have had the same problems. On one parts website, I found this message regarding the part: PART ON HOLD UNTIL ENGINEERING REVIEW IS COMPLETE, EXP - MAR 20TH, 2025. This is not just an issue with 2014-2015 Ram trucks, but extends to other Ram model years using the same part number.
Abs control module failed. No cruise control, anti lock brakes, trailer brake function or traction control.
The ABS module has an "internal electrical fault" rendering the ABS and traction control on my Ram 1500 inoperable. The replacement part 68228991AD has been on back order and therefore unrepairable at the dealer for over a year and a half making my truck unsafe and Chrysler hasn't done anything to make the parts more available.
I have my traction control light show up on the dash. Took my truck to a mechanic thinking it might be my ABS Sensors. The code came up showing I am in need of the ABS Control Module. This seems to have been recalled on many of the Ram trucks as recent as September 2024. Also doing a lot of research, this seems to have been an ongoing problem for Ram trucks 2014-2016. The dealerships currently do not have the replacement part # 68228991AD which will replace the original 68228991AA, AB, and AC. It is apparently in engineering review. With the snow my location just had, I can tell you I have lost traction on the road. I have also lost traction and had hard braking on dry pavement within the past few weeks which is why I took the truck to the mechanic and learned of the ABS Control Module needing replaced. This should be recalled on all of the Ram trucks not just the 2019, 2021-2024.
ABS module is discontinued and no recall has been made to remedy the issue.
ABS Control Module which is under engineering review thru stellantis and unavailable for the last 2+ years, it affects the abs, trailer brake control and cruise control. It was diagnosed by marlette chrysler jeep dodge in michigan. It started by randomly applying brakes on a curve at slow speeds then according to the dealer completely failed causing cruise control failure, trailer brake control failure and obviously abs function. It was a sudden onset that lead to complete failure from first symptoms to complete failure within 2 days. I realize there is a certain recall on rams for the abs but from reading online the majority of us dont qualify for that recall even tho our vehicles are being affected by it and this needs to be addressed.
I had a check engine light come on for the ABS and Traction Control. Did research and found Ram no longer manufactures the ABS Module. Now my truck is no longer safe to drive with no avenue to repair.
ABS system alarms appeared June 2023, dealership says it is abs controller and needs to be replaced. There were none available. I have checked back periodically for last two years and they still have no clue when they will have parts available. The dealer has told me to continue driving the truck.
I have a 2015 Ram 1500, the ABS module was diagnosed in June 2024 as needing to be replaced by a Dodge dealership. With this issue, my ABS does not work, and the traction control has been disabled by this issue also. At this time, the part is still unavailable for ordering. There is a recall on newer models of this vehicle that are having the same issue.
ABS Control Module Fault, due to this the electronic breaking, traction control, cruise control and Anti-Lock Brake system is in fault. with this fault there is a possibility for the braking system to fully fail when operation the vehicle, along with a higher chance to lose control if a need for the traction control comes up. The vehicle has been looked at and was informed that the only part that needs to be changed out is the Control Module. The part needed are not available at any non-dealership location and all dealerships that have been contacted have the part on back order for months with said parts already waiting to go into a vehicle. I have been searching for the part needed since June 2024. This effects the 2014-2016 models of the Ram 1500.
The ABS light came on and we were told we’d have to replace that part and learned there was a recall so the part is on back order. Although the year of our truck is 2015 I believe this relates to the recall for the other ram trucks considering it’s the same problem.
ABS Module failure. No replacement part offered by RAM
In August 2024, the ABS Module on my 2015 RAM 1500 failed - the ABS and Brake lights are on full time. I have new brakes so the vehicle is safe to drive, but with the ABS module out, the cruise control does not work either. A new ABS module is impossible to find - dealers or independent shops cannot get one. Apparently, the part is on engineering hold. Reading various forums, this is a common and known Dodge failure with no foreseeable resolution. There are recalls and class action lawsuits, but not for my year / model. I can't get it fixed, I can't sell it with a known failed system and there is no timeline to resolve the problem. Not to mention the decreased safety with the ABS inoperative. This is completely unsatisfactory.
Received Service ABS System/Service Electronic Braking System indication on HUDS. Brake System OBD-II Reader shows ABS Module Failure. Consulted local dealership and pre-purchased the replacement part in Nov 2024. To date (Feb 19th, 2025) the parts expected delivery date has been moved out one month at a time for the last 4 months. This part failure causes the braking system to operate in a conventional manner, meaning that when the brakes are applied, they actuate at all 4 wheels simultaneously. This results in loss of handling in wet conditions. Several instances I have had to apply the brakes in an emergency during wet road conditions and narrowly escaped collision with other motor vehicles. Additionally, Louisiana state inspection requirements state that the vehicle MUST pass safety inspection to be allowed on the road. With this failure of a critical safety system, I have been unable to operate my vehicle safely and legally on Louisiana roadways.
1. The ABS brake module has failed. We have gone into the dealership twice over the past year and a half and they have said they will order the parts and call us back and we have never received a call. When I called to try to get it resolved the parts department at the dealership says there is an Engineering hold note on the parts that has been there for over a year with no other details. This part is on recall for Dodge Rams from 2017-2024, but not for 2015 makes. 2. Our safety is put at risk as there is no functioning ABS break system when driving on the highway. 3. The problem has been confirmed by our local Dodge dealership and several 3rd party mechanics (Brakes Plus and an independent mechanic). 4. The ABS warning lights and brake lights are always on and will not shut off as a result.
My truck has internal ABS failure. 2015 Ram 1500. With the malfunction I lose power brakes, cruise control, traction control and all other ABS functions. There is a recall for other year trucks but not 2015 and they have the same exact issue. All of those lights light up on the dash upon start up.
The truck has 59,005 miles on it. Driving down the road the following alerts displayed: Service Antilock Brake System Service Electronic Brake System Service Trailer Brake System The truck is available for inspect. There were no symptoms prior to this event but has continually displays these warnings since the first time of displaying in October 2024. I have another car so I parked the truck and start it periodically but do not drive it. I was near home and able to drive there without incident. When I start the truck it immediately display the warnings. I am hesitant to drive it to an independent service center cause I don't know if the brake system will completely fail. In researching the warnings I found this to be a common issue with these trucks and found an NTSA recall for the same warnings for the truck but for different years.
Service Antilock Brake System and Service Electronic Braking System warning lights keep coming on. Truck intermittently tries to stop.
