The driver's side windshield wiper is not working because the wiper arm attachment (at the spindle) is stripped. The motor spindle rotates but the wiper does not wipe the windshield. Visibility during rain, snow or other dirt or mud being splattered on windshield during driving. No dealer interaction yet, just noticed today while out driving. No inspection by 3rd party. No warning indicators, lamps or messages.

I have had to replace the Driver's Side sun visor on my truck twice due to failure of the bracket holding the visor in place. The most recent time this happened was this month (August 2025). While I was entering the freeway in heavy traffic the visor fell down and was flopping in my face while I was traveling at approximately 70mph. I had the sun in my face, traffic beside me and had to use my left hand to catch the visor while avoiding a collision with a truck. The problem does not seem to be isolated to the Ram line of vehicles as we had the same problem with visor failure on my wife's 2023 Jeep Wagoner (vin [XXX] ). The bracket that holds the visor in place has a "push in tab/fitting" made of inferior material that is only about 1/8" thick and needs to be redesigned. I have attached photos of the failed part. In 2022, I had the dealer replace the driver's visor because it broke and was hanging down by its electrical connection. It was obstructing the drivers forward view. This repair was covered under the bumper to bumper warrantee. In 2025, the visor broke again exactly as before however, this time the repair will not be covered as a defect. Online, there are a lot of people who are having the exact same issue with their visors. I believe that this issue is a major safety issue because it distracts and blocks the drivers view and should become a recall issue

THE REARVIEW CAMERA ON THE VEHICLE DISPLAY A BLACK SCREEN IN PLACE OF THE REARVIEW IMAGE. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN FIXED BY THE DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES AND AFTER A WHILE THE REARVIEW CAMERA DISPLAY A BLACK SCREEN AGAIN. THIS IS AN ISSUE WHEN BACK PARKING OR JUST GETTING OUT FROM PARKING SPOT. ITS HARD TO SEE WHAT ITS BEHIND, SPECIALLY CHILDREN WALKING BEHIND IT. PLEASE I ASK TO LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE FURTHER SINCE I CONSIDER IT CAN PREVENT ANY FUTURE ACCIDENTS.

Drivers side visor broke at the support point and fell down obscuring drivers' vision while driving on the highway. Required holding visor up with one hand while pulling over. This situation has reoccurred several times while waiting for an appointment at the dealer. Broken plastic shaft is the cause. Upon inspection this is an under sized plastic shaft. Other sources report this is a common problem since 2019. It is a dangerous situation having your vision blocked while in traffic. Ram says it is an out of warranty, pay for the repair issue. Vehicle has 49500 miles. New visor looks like the old one.

The windshield wiper system is currently pumping wiper fluid but not on the windshield, instead it is somehow sending it to the passenger side of the front hood and draining directly on the ground. I took it to the dealer and was told several other vehicles came in with the exact same issue and was told it would be addressed but as of now it has not

The sun visors unexpectedly drop out of there sockets impeding the drivers ability to see abruptly. This is obviously dangerous. They are defective and this has been reported on RAM forums to no avail.

The drivers side sun visor has failed multiple times. As I am driving it falls out of its housing on the vehicle ceiling and obstructs my vision. I took it to the dealer and they replaced the visor. However, it has failed again and almost caused an accident. I spoke with an individual that works for Ram and was told that this is a repair and complaint that they hear quite often. I believe without a manufacturer recall and replacement that this could cause a severe accident.

Driver's side sun visor repeatedly comes loose from ceiling attachment causing the visor to drop into driver's sight line completely blocking forward view. It happens suddenly, often as I'm approaching a stop light, and is a massive safety concern. I have had several near misses where I've almost rear-ended cars in front of me. I reported the issue to the dealer at my last service and, while I was told this was a "common issue" with Dodge Rams, the dealer/Dodge would not cover the cost and it would be $500+ to repair with parts and labor. If this is as prevalent as the dealer indicated, this should be a safety recall.

While driving at highway speed with the sunvisor down, the visor suddenly became loose and hit me in the head blocking my vision. As I reached up to move the visor around, I realized that there was no tension on the swing arm and the visor would swing from the driver side window all the way to the windshield, this caused me to keep one hand on the visor when the sun was coming through the driver side window, and only one hand on the wheel.

Hi, we own a 2020 Dodge Ram 1500. Went to drive our truck during a snow storm. The driver's side wiper arm stripped its splines. Dealership says tough luck. You're on your own. A 2020 Dodge Truck. This is ridiculous. We have 2 small kids, and can't drive our new truck when it rains. Never heard of a new vehicle stripping the splines of a wiper arm, because of ice and snow. No one ever touched the wiper arm. We used remote start to warm up the vehicle, only to find out the arm was stripped when we tried to drive it. I've owned many vehicles, never had this happen before. No one I've talked with, has had this happen, even in the worst weather conditions. This is a Major flaw, and a huge safety issue. Thank you. The drivers side sun visor can fall out of the mechanism that holds it to the interior of the roof without warning. This happened on my ex girlfriends 2019 ram 1500 and just happened to my 2020 ram 1500. The dealer repaired hers for free even though it was out of warranted because it was a “known issue” according to the service department. Today mine fell out, hitting me in the head as I was driving and temporarily obscured my view of the roadway. The same happened to my girlfriend. If this is a known issue why has there not been a recall notice on this? Could easily lead to accident with injury or fatality.

About a year ago the passenger side visor fell from the arm side and was dangling in the window from the cords that operate the light. I almost ran into another vehicle when it happened. About 2 months ago, the driver side did the exact same thing as i was approaching a stoplight I could not see and almost hit the car in front of me.

The plastic clip that holds the sun visor into the roof has broken after 32,000 miles of driving, when the plastic has failed he visor can fall out of position and into the field of view, the visor can no longer be stored in its correct position, it also needs to be held while driving so that it does not obstruct ones vision.

The driver’s side visor fell down on its own and blocked my visibility almost causing me to lose control of the vehicle because I could not see where I was going. The visor will not stay up in the locked position. I can see wires and a broken black plastic part where the visor support is located.

Jun 2023 Injury

Both driver/passenger side adjustable sun visors broke while driving the vehicle, causing the visor to smack me in the face, and almost veering into another street lane without intention to do so. Now that they are both broken, it is ineffective to use in order to block the sun from blinding the driver while operating the vehicle. This presents a very unsafe driving condition, as they are constantly dropping from the fastening arm. Before I attempt to purchase new replacements, I feel this should be replaced at cost by the manufacturer cause there is intricate wiring inside the arms which have detached from the fastener. My vehicle isn't even three years of age and the sun visors are not handled rigorously outside of normal operation handling. See photos provided.

The driver side sun visor hinge point is failing. Without warning either when I attempt to fold down the sun visor or sometimes just on it's own it has fallen down out of the roof from the hinge point on the left side that allows you to rotate it to the side window if necessary. If I didn't have my hand on it to immediately lift it back up and from blocking my vision of the road in front of me it could have caused a collision with another vehicle, pedestrian or other object. I can push it back up into the receiver hole in the roof but it remains loose with the potential to fall out again as it has on several occasions. It has not been inspected yet. There are no warning indicators for this problem.

The visor on the driver’s side has had a complete fail which causes the visor to fall down and block the driver’s vision. This is a significant safety hazard as it blocks the driver’s view and it takes two hands to push the visor back up so that it is not blocking the driver’s view. The same thing happened to the passenger side less than a year ago and the dealer had no problem replacing it. For some reason they won't honor fixing the driver side. Even though it is widely known that this is an issue with Ram trucks. The dealer has inspected the vehicle and determined the part is broken but extended warranty told the dealer that I needed to pay for it myself. I don't have an extra $300 to spend on a visor that was made inadequately in the first place. Internet reports suggests this is a widespread problem with the Dodge Ram. Having a malfunctioning component that causes the visor to block the driver’s view poses a significant risk that a driver could be in an accident because he or she cannot see the road ahead and cannot clear the field of view without taking both hands off the steering wheel. This is an ongoing risk for Dodge vehicles so long as Dodge does not produce adequate parts to repair the malfunctioning piece

Dec 2022

Driver side sun visor connection point failure. The visor does not retract properly into the stowed position during driving, causing temporary moments of limited visibility. Use of the visor prior to failure was normal. The same failure actually occurred on the passenger side approximately 1 year prior. However, that was more of an inconvenience than safety issue. A local dealer did fix, and the cost was covered by the warranty. No inspection has occurred for the current driver side failure as of yet. I am awaiting an opportunity to have the vehicle serviced.
