The contact owns a 2015 Ram 2500. The contact stated that the vehicle was initially repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V021000 (Steering) at a local dealer; however, after the recall repair was performed, the vehicle was unable to receive a front alignment. The contact requested that the welds be removed to perform the alignment; however, several dealers and independent mechanics refused to remove the welds. The dealer had spoken with the manufacturer, but neither had offered any assistance. The Mopar manufacturer was also notified of the failure, and the contact was given a case number. The vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000. The VIN was not available.
Our vehicle was not part of the safety recall V06/NHTSA 19V-21 recall based on VIN but have been experiencing same issues in the recall: Drag link separation can result in a loss of directional steering control. We have had several close calls of truck losing control. Vehicle currently in authorized dealership with the following diagnosis: Upon inspection, technician found the track bar to continuously back off, no known fix for this issue. Requesting our truck VIN [XXX] to be claimed under this recall. It is possible that other trucks that were manufactured from the same plant as ours could have been built with these defective parts. Over the past 2 years we have had issues with the front end particularly the drag link coming loose and major steering problems and major bouncing which resulted in purchasing 2 new sets of tires within 2 years. It was brought to our attention that there was a recall for the exact same issue from NHTSA Recall# V06 19V-021. Unfortunately our VIN number was not listed on the recall although our truck was having the same issue that was listed in the recall. I have contacted NHTSA and filed a safety complaint (Complaint# 11570103). Over the 2 years, we have had the drag link repaired twice which has cost us approximately $4700 in repair costs and tire replacement which could have been covered had our truck was listed under the recall. I have requested NHTSA to investigate and list our truck under the recall and is requesting refunds to the repairs I have already paid for. This request has been declined and that is not acceptable. Please add my vehicle under the recall so I can request a reimbursement. I want somebody to call me directly at [XXX] today. At highway speed vehicle did not have issues until steering into a hard turn. Steering became very heavy and lost power steering intermittently. Same issue occurred at low speed during turns
My reimbursement for a recall I paid out of pocket was approved and a check was supposed to be sent to me, but has never been sent. I have called Mopar several times and they tell me they are sending the check to me but never do.
I received a recall for 19v021000 I went an had the dealer fix the recall an they welding the jam nuts as a temporary fix now I’m unable to have alignment la done so what am I supposed to do for alignment an for tire wear the fix is me spending 850 dollars for different control arms that should’ve been fixed the first time. The dealer stated that it was a temporary repair until Chrysler came up with a solution but it’s been three years an still no fix. Very unacceptable.
I was looking under my truck and noticed that I have a welded drag link, from my understanding this was supposed to be a temporary fix until a permanent remedy was available. This is supposed to be an adjustable drag link and I believe mine was welded out of adjustment and there is no way to adjust it now. The recall never was changed to replacement parts available they just welded them and went on. So now what the owners have to buy a complete replacement part to be able to adjust it?

AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO HAVE THE ALIGNMENT OR THE TIRES REMOVED FROM THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE WELD STATED IN THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 30,000.
SAFETY RECALL V06/NHTSA 19V-021. THIS RECALL WAS PERFORMED BY A DEALER WITH FULL EXPLANATION OF WHAT WAS BEING DONE. THEIR 'FIX' AS APPROVED BY YOU HAS REMOVED SERVICEABILITY OF THE STEERING SYSTEM. WELDING IN PLACE AS A 'FIX' IS BEYOND ACCEPTABLE! THIS BASICALLY HAS PASSED THE RESPONSIBILITY TO THE OWNER AND CREATES A GREATER SAFETY ISSUE OF NEEDING TO OTHER STEERING AND READABILITY ISSUES! DODGE/FCA ENGINEERS 'REINVENTED THE WHEEL' BY UTILIZING A JAM-NUT SET-UP THAT DIDN'T WORK. THEY ULTIMATELY CORRECTED THE PROBLEM ON THE 2019 MODELS BY RETURNING TO THE TRIED AND TRUE SPLIT TUBE WITH CLAMP DESIGN. I WANT MY TRUCK REPAIRED CORRECTLY TO A SAFE AND USABLE CONDITION IN RESPECT TO THEIR ULTIMATE DESIGN CORRECTION STANDARD. YOU GUYS ARE TASKED WITH CONSUMER SAFETY; YOU NEED TO HAVE PEOPLE MAKING THESE DECISION FULLY UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ACCEPT FROM MANUFACTURERS!
THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD THE RECALL ON THE STEERING PERFORMED, AND EVER SINCE THEY TAC WELDED THE DRAG NUT, THE ALIGNMENT IS EXTREMELY INACCURATE WHICH IS ALSO CAUSING THE STEERING WHEEL TO BE COMPLETELY OFF. DUE TO NOW NOT BEING ABLE TO HAVE A PROPER ALIGNMENT DONE TO FACTORY SPECS BECAUSE OF THIS "TEMPORARY FIX" I AM NOW REPLACING FRONT TIRES IN A YEAR OF HAVING THE VEHICLE DUE TO SEVERE UNEVEN TIRE WEAR ON THE FRONT TIRES BECAUSE OF A "TEMPORARY FIX" INSTEAD OF JUST REPLACING THE PARTS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AUTOWORLD DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (1370 AUTO CENTER DR, PETALUMA, CA 94952) WHERE THE RECALL REPAIR WAS COMPLETED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A TIRE CENTER FOR A FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT HOWEVER, THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO PERFORM THE ALIGNMENT BECAUSE AS A PART OF THE RECALL REPAIR, THE DRAG LINK NUT WAS WELDED TO SUBFRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED A CASE NUMBER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.
THE CURRENT "FIX" FOR RECALL "19V-021" IS UNACCEPTABLE. THE FIX THAT CHRYSLER IS CURRENTLY USING FOR THIS RECALL IS TO WELD THE JAM NUTS ON THE DRAG LINK. THIS FIX IS NOT A PERMANENT SOLUTION AND PREVENTS THE VEHICLE FROM HAVING A PROPER STEERING ALIGNMENT COMPLETED DUE TO WELDING THE NUTS AND PREVENTING ADJUSTMENTS. THE DRAG LINK ON THESE VEHICLES NEEDS TO BE REPLACED COMPLETELY, NOT WELDED!

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WESTGATE DODGE RAM WAKE FOREST (10936 STAR RD, WAKE FOREST, NC 27587, (919) 809-6559) TO BE REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V021000 (STEERING) WHERE THE REMEDY WAS TO WELD THE NUT. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE REMEDY WAS NOT THE CORRECT REMEDY FOR THE RECALL DUE TO WELDING TWO DIFFERENT METALS TOGETHER AND BURNING THE NUT. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO CONCERNED THAT THE REMEDY WOULD STOP THE VEHICLE FROM HAVING AN ALIGNMENT PERFORMED. THE SAME DEALER WAS CALLED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE RECALL REMEDY WAS TO WELD THE NUT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 RAM 2500. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE CONTACT MADE A LEFT TURN AND HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS LISTED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V021000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING JAM NUT WAS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE STEERING CONTINUED TO FAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 144,000.
A RECALL NOTICE, (#V06/NHTSA 19V-021) WAS ISSUED 1/31/2019. I IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED MEADOR CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP THAT FOLLOWING WEEK, AND WAS TOLD THEY HAD NO TIMEFRAME FOR REPAIR/REPLACE OF THE DEFECTIVE AND DANGEROUS PART. THE FOLLOWING MONTH, (MARCH), I RECEIVED ANOTHER NOTICE, CONTACTED THEM, AND I WAS PLACED ON A LIST FOR THE PART TO BE ORDERED. TWO MORE NOTICES WERE RECEIVED AND I WENT DIRECTLY TO THE DEALERSHIPS SERVICE MANAGER TO FIND OUT HOW MUCH LONGER I MUST DRIVE A DANGEROUS VEHICLE BEFORE THEY WOULD BE ABLE TO REPAIR IT AND WAS TOLD "WE ARE NOT CONCERNED WITH 2015 VEHICLES NOW, ONLY THE 2018 AND 2017", AND "DON'T CALL US, WE WILL CALL YOU WHEN WE ARE READY FOR YOURS". I HAVE NOTICED SLACK IN THE FRONT OF MY TRUCK AND HEARD SOME POPPING, YET THE DEALERSHIP IS EXHIBITING ABSOLUTELY NO CONCERN FOR OUR SAFETY AND POTENTIAL LOSS OF LIVES SHOULD THE STEERING BECOME SEPARATED WHILE TRAVELLING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. PLEASE HELP ME TO UNDERSTAND WHY THE DEALERSHIPS ARE SO LACKADAISICAL IN THEIR ATTITUDES WHEN LOSS OF LIFE IS POSSIBLE. THANK YOU.
I RECENTLY DROPPED MY TRUCK OFF FOR THE V06 STEERING ADJUSTER RECALL. IT HAS NOW LEFT MY STEERING WHEEL UNADJUSTABLE FOR FUTURE ALIGNMENTS. THE NUTS ARE WELDED SOLIDLY TO THE ADJUSTER. WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR COVERING FUTURE ALIGNMENTS? I AM NOW LEFT WITH NON SERVICEABLE STEERING COMPONANTS THAT WERE SUBPAR ON CHRYSLER END.
WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL SKIPS AND PULLS, HAPPENS EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT. I DO USE THE TRUCK EVERYDAY COUPLE TIMES A MONTH.

THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PULL THE VEHICLE OVER TO THE SHOULDER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXPERIENCING THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: PE18016 (STEERING). THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TIGHTENED THE STEERING WHEEL BOLTS AS A TEMPORARY REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO ASSIST. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 RAM 2500. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AND WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING ABILITY FAILED AND IT WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL LEFT OR RIGHT. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC ASSESSED THE VEHICLE AND CONFIRMED THAT THE FRONT TRACK BAR FRAME WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. BAYWAY CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (4000 PASADENA FREEWAY, PASADENA, TEXAS 77503, (713) 433-4000) WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V559000 (STEERING) AS A POTENTIAL CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 71,000. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.
WHILE DRIVING MY STOCK 2015 RAM 2500 70 MPH ON FREEWAY THE FRONT END BEGAN TO SHAKE UNCONTROLLABLY AFTER TRAVELING OVER A COMMON OVERPASS. STEERING WAS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE, AND LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF AND STOP. THIS HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE. SUBSEQUENT CONTACT WITH TWO RAM DEALERSHIPS, THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE WELL KNOWN WITHIN THE INDUSTRY,
TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY 101 AT 65-70 MILES PER HOUR, ONE QUARTER OF THE WAY INTO A HARD LEFT HAND TURN, THE STEERING ROD TO THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL CAME LOOSE WITHOUT ANY IMPACT OR ANY OTHER FORM OF ROAD HAZARD. THE THREADED END DISENGAGED FROM THE TURNBUCKLE NUT LEAVING ME WITH ABSOLUTELY NO STEERING. THE OUT OF CONTROL TRUCK TRAVELED INTO A TURN OUT, UP A HILL, AND INTO A DITCH. THE ANTI SKID #2 KICKED IN, REDUCING MY BRAKES, MAKING THE TERRAIN EVENTUALLY STOP THE TRUCK. IT WAS APPROXIMATELY 400 FEET OF TRAVEL AFTER LEAVING THE HIGHWAY. FIAT-CHRYSLER WAS CONTACTED (CAIR # [XXX]) AND THEY SENT AN INVESTIGATOR (BOSCH AUTOMOTIVE SERVICE SOLUTIONS) WHO TOOK PHOTOGRAPHS AND DOCUMENTATION AFTER VIEWING THE TRUCK. I WAS NOT ALLOWED TO REVIEW THE REPORT. THEN, FIAT-CHRYSLER RESPECTFULLY DECLINED ANY ASSISTANCE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS MATTER. I HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT ALTHOUGH THE PARTS INVOLVED WERE UNDER WARRANTY, MY WARRANTY HAS BEEN VOIDED WITH NO EXPLANATION. THEY SUGGESTED I TURN IT OVER TO MY INSURANCE CARRIER, WHICH HAS ALSO DECLINED TO COVER THE DAMAGES. AFTER GETTING AN ALIGNMENT DONE AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP DUE TO MY STEERING WHEEL NOT SITTING STRAIGHT AFTER LESS THAN ONE YEAR OF OWNERSHIP; MY STEERING CONTROL ROD ALMOST FELL APART WHILE DRIVING DUE TO INADEQUATE TIGHTENING OF THE LOCKING NUTS.
WAS LUBRICATING FRONT DRIVESHAFT FITTINGS HAD NOTICED A LOOSENESS IN FRONT END WHEN HITTING BUMPS IN ROADS. FOUND NUTS ON DRAGLINK FINGER LOOSE COULD TURN WITH FINGERS AND ENTIRE SLEEVE WAS LOOSE. WILL TAKE TO DEALER THIS WEEK 11K MILES ON VEHICLE 13 MONTHS OLD. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE FOR A CRITICAL STEERING COMPONENT.
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (USUALLY OVER 55 MPH) I HIT A BUMP AND THE FRONT END STARTED WHEEL HOPPING VIOLENTLY. IT THREW ME OUT OF MY LANE AND WHEN I HIT THE BRAKES I WAS BOUNCED OFF THE ROAD AND ON TO THE SHOULDER. THANK GOD NO ONE WAS BESIDE ME AS IT WOULD HAVE CAUSED A MAJOR WRECK OR WORSE. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. NOW IM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE TRUCK ON THE HIGHWAY AGAIN. CANT BELIEVE THERE IS NOT A RECALL OUT ON THIS AS IT SEEMS PRETTY POPULAR ON THE INTERNET. THE NUTS SECURING THE DRAG LINK ADJUSTMENT SLEEVE WORKED LOOSE. BECAUSE I READ ABOUT THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET, I CAUGHT IT DURING AN INSPECTION BEFORE IT CAUSED ANY PROBLEMS. I DO NOT KNOW HOW MANY MILES I DROVE WITH IT IN THIS CONDITION. I NOTICED THAT THE ADJUSTING SLEEVE IS A VERY LOOSE FIT ON THE SMALL THREADS OF THE DRAG LINK BARS. I BELIEVE THE SLOPPY FIT IS THE ROOT CAUSE OF THE NUTS BACKING LOOSE.
