1998 TOYOTA CAMRY FAILED BRAKING SYSTEM *GR THE CONSUMER STATED SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, NEW BRAKES HAD TO BE INSTALLED EVERY YEAR AND EVERY COUPLE OF YEARS THE ROTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED. *JB
WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED AT A HIGH SPEED THERE IS A DRUM NOISE, AND A DELAY IN BRAKING. *AK
AT STOP SIGNS OR RED LIGHTS,THE BRAKE PEDAL STARTS SINKING DOWN AND VEHICLE STARTS MOVING EVEN WHEN MAXIMUM BRAKE FORCE IS APPLIED.CUSTOMER PAID THE DEALER REPLACE THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER ON 04/10/2003 AND THE BRAKE PROBLEM HAS BEEN FIXED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING, THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED WITHOUT WARNING, AS A RESULT, THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO RUN WITHOUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION FOR FIVE HOURS. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB

WHILE DRIVING THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED BUT THE PEDAL WENT DOWN TO THE FLOOR BOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER FAILED. *MR *NLM
WHILE DRIVING INSURED FIRST NOTICED SMOKE AND IT APPEARS THAT FIRE BEGAN IN ENGINE COMPARTMENT, THEN LOST CONTROL OF BRAKES. CLAIM # 33-0210-256. *YD
FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS ARE WEARING EXCESSIVELY. ALSO, NOTES WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED THERE IS A VERY LOUD GRINDING NOISE. CONSUMER HAS CONTACTED DEALER RESPECTFULLY. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER DETAILS. *AK
BRAKES MAKE A GRINDING NOISE. ALSO, HAD TSB STATING BRAKE PADS HAD TOO MUCH METALLIC CONTENTS. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND HAD ROTORS REPAIRED, PROBLEM STILL OCCURRED. FRONT BRAKES AND ROTORS KEPT WEARING PREMATURELY.*AK AFTER CONSUMER HAD THE PROBLEM FIXED,THE FRONT BRAKES STILL GROAN. *JG
WITH 11,000 MILES ON VEHICLE THERE WAS A RUBBING NOISE COMING FROM VEHICLE WHEN BRAKE SYSTEM WAS ACTIVATED. DEALERSHIP SERVICED VEHICLE UNDER A SERVICE BULLETIN. THEN, AT APPROXIMATELY 50,000 MILES ON AUGUST 23, 2001 FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED BY DEALERSHIP DUE TO A RUBBING NOISE DURING BRAKE APPLICATION. ALSO AT 54,000 MILES ON JANUARY 22, 2002 REAR BRAKE DRUMS FAILED,AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / DOCUMENTATION. *AK
UPON TURNING IGNITION VEHICLE MAKES LOUD NOISE. WHILE DRIVING BRAKES MAKE A GRINDING NOISE, TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN TRYING TO STOP VEHICLE HAS TO PRESS PEDAL COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
ROTORS /PADS OVERHEATED, HAS TO CHANGE THEM EVERY 8000 MILES. *AK
WHEN BRAKING THE CAR MAKE'S A LOUD PLANE NOISE AND A CLICKING NOISE. *AK
TRAVELLING THE FREEWAY, I NEEDED TO SLOW THE VEHICLE BUT WHEN I STARTED TO MOVE MY RIGHT FOOT, SOMETHING HELD IT IN PLACE. I LIFTED MY RIGHT FOOT AND PROCEEDED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL BUT THE PEDAL WOULD NOT MOVE. I TWO-FOOTED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND HEARD SOMETHING CRACK AFTERWHICH THE PEDAL STARTED TO MOVE AND I RGAINED THE USE OF MY BRAKES. AN EXAMINATION REVEALED A PLASTIC DUCT WEDGED BETWEEN THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE FLOOR BOARD. THE DUCT WAS PART OF THE VENTILATION SYSTEM WHICH HAD FALLEN OFF AND WEDGED BETWEEN THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE FLOOR BOARD.*AK
CONSTANT BRAKE WEAR AND TEAR; MANUFACTURER PROVIDED BRAKE KIT TO NO AVAIL.*AK
THERE IS A NOISE COMING FROM BRAKING SYSTEM. DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED BRAKE PADS AND SHOES AND ROTATED ROTORS TWO TIMES. NOISE IS STILL PRESENT, AND CONSUMER IS CONCERNED ABOUT OPERATION OF BRAKES. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION/ATTACHMENTS.*AK

BOTH FRONT BRAKE ROTORS ARE CORRODED/PITTED. REPAIRS BEING MADE AT INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP. *AK THE VEHICLE FAILED INSPECTION DUE TO THE PROBLEM ( BRAKE ROTORS CORRODING). *YH

WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES DURING AN EMERGENCY STOPPING SITUATION/ ON WET OR UNEVEN PAVEMENT, BRAKES DO NOT HOLD, RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. PROBLEM WAS REPORTED TO DEALERSHP, BRAKES HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE. PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED. *AK *ML
WHEN BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED BRAKES BEGAN TO MAKE A LOUD SQUEAKING NOISE, AND VIBRATE. BRAKES ARE ALWAYS VERY LOW. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *AK *ML
BRAKE FAILURE RESULTED IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND INJURY. YH
