TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY SOLARA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HAVING MAINTENANCE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE, HE WAS NOTIFIED THAT THE MOTOR MOUNTS AND TRANSMISSION WERE FRACTURED. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT BOTH THE ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION MOUNTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 125,000.

MY CAR IS IN BEAUTIFUL CONDITION EXCEPT MY DASHBOARD IS MELTING. IT IS STICKY AND CANNOT BE TOUCHED, IT HAS BECOME WORSE IN THE LAST MONTH AND WHEN I WENT TO HAVE THE CAR SERVICED, THE TOYOTA SERVICE SAID IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND THE COST WOULD BE $500+. I HAVE NOTED THAT SEVERAL OTHER OWNERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND TOYOTA MFG. IS GETTING AWAY WITH A WIDESPREAD DEFECT THAT IS COSTLY TO REPAIR. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE TO PROTECT THE CONSUMER AS THIS WILL HAVE AN EFFECT ON THE TRADE VALUE, PERSONAL SELL VALUE AND ALSO THE ELECTRONICS WITHIN THE DASHBOARD. *TR

ABOUT A YEAR AFTER WE BOUGHT OUR CAMRY, WE NOTICED THAT THE DASH PANEL WAS STARTING TO GET STICKY. WE TRIED WIPING IT DOWN BUT IT DID NOT WORK AND HAS CONTINUALLY GOTTEN WORSE. IT ALSO CREATES A TREMENDOUS GLARE THAT MAKES IT VERY HARD TO SEE OUT OF THE WINDSHIELD. IT IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY HAZARD FOR DRIVERS AS WELL AS A UGLY AND NASTY EYESORE. *TR

I OWN A TOYOTA CAMRY 2008, AND WITHIN THE LAST 3-4 MONTHS I HAVE NOTICED MY DASHBOARD IS GOOEY AND STICKY I CANT SEEM TO CLEAN IT OR GET RID OF THE STICKINESS. I HAVE CALLED THE TOYOTA HELP CENTER AND THEY REFUSED TO HELP ME OR PAY FOR ANY REPAIRS. I EXPLAINED TO THEM HOW BAD THE DAMAGE IS FOR ONLY TOYOTA TO DENY ANY RESPONSIBILITY. I HAVE WENT TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN CARSON, CALIFORNIA TO GET AN ESTIMATE OF $2,480.75 FOR REPAIRS. I WOULD THINK TOYOTA WOULD MAKE A RECALL AND GET THIS DASHBOARD SITUATION FIXED. NOW MY DASHBOARD IS CAUSING A GLARE ON MY DRIVERS SIDE TO ONLY MAKE THE SITUATION WORSE WHILE IM DRIVING ON THE ROAD. THE GLARE IS SUFFICIENT TO GIVE ME A BLIND SPOT. I HAVE A TOYOTA CAMRY 2008. I REPORTED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS STICKY WHEN I WENT FOR MY 32,000 MILE CHECK UP. THE DEALER REP. SAID," OH DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT, I'M SURE THERE WILL BE A RECALL BECAUSE WE ARE SEEING IT ON LOTS OF CARS. MY DAUGHTER IN LAW HAD THE SAME PROBLEM ON HER 2007 MODEL. BOTH OF OURS WERE GRAY IN COLOR. SEVERAL YEARS LATER AND NO RECALL AND A DISGUSTING DASH BOARD. IT IS SO MELTED THAT IN FLORIDA WITH OUR HIGH BUG COUNT, I HAVE TO PULL BUGS AND WINGS OUT WITH A TWEEZER WHEN WINTER ROLLS AROUND. THE DASHBOARD GETS A LITTLE LESS SOFT IN THE COLD WEATHER, BUT IS STILL STICKY AND CANNOT BE CLEANED. IF ANYTHING HAPPENS TO LAND ON THE DASHBOARD, A FLOATING PIECE OF PAPER, A BOX IN THE FRONT SEAT THAT FALLS FORWARD AND IT EITHER STICKS OR TAKES A GOUGE OUT OF THE DASHBOARD. *TR

MY DASH ON MY CAMRY IS STICKY AND SHINY. WHEN THE SUN HITS MY DASH IT CAUSES A GLARE ON MY WINDSHIELD. THERE IS DOCUMENTATION ONLINE ABOUT SOME CAMRY'S HAVING ISSUES WITH THIS. THIS IS A DEFECT WITH THE CAR AND TOYOTA REFUSES TO REPLACE THE DASH FOR FREE. I AM TOLD THE PRICE TO REPLACE THE DASH IS $1,586 AND THAT THE DEALERSHIP WILL GIVE A 10% DISCOUNT. THE TOYOTA CORPORATE OFFICE I CONTACTED STATED THEY WOULD OFFER ASSISTANCE TO FIX THE DASH AND MY PORTION WOULD BE AROUND $700-$750. I FEEL LIKE THIS SHOULD BE REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE AS THIS IS NOT NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND IS OBVIOUSLY A DEFECT FROM THE MANUFACTURER. *TR

I AM AN OWNER OF A 2008 TOYOTA CAMRY SE. THE DASHBOARD ON MY VEHICLE STARTED MELTING, BECAME STICKY/SHINY AND HAS AN AWFUL GLARE ON THE WINDSHIELD. THIS STARTED AFTER THE WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED ON THE VEHICLE AND MY EXTENDED WARRANTY PURCHASED DOES NOT COVER TRIM FOR THE VEHICLE. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE INTO TOYOTA FOR ROUTINE SERVICE FOR SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE AND INQUIRED ABOUT THE DASHBOARD. I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM FOR THESE VEHICLES AND THEY HAVE ALREADY CHANGED MULTIPLE DASHBOARDS. I WAS TOLD THIS WAS AN EXPENSIVE PROBLEM TO RESOLVE (1100 FOR PART AND 660 FOR LABOR), AND TO CALL TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE TO FILE A COMPLAINT TO SEE IF THEY WOULD HELP RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. AFTER A REVIEW BY TOYOTA THEY SAID THEY WOULD PAY FOR THE PART BUT I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE LABOR. I WAS TOLD THAT DUE TO THIS NOT BEING A RECALL THEY ARE NOT REQUIRED TO OFFER ANYTHING BY LAW. I AM CONCERNED BECAUSE IT IS CREATING A SHINY "REFLECTING" EFFECT ON THE WINDSHIELD THAT IMPAIRS VISIBILITY WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED GIVEN THAT IT IS A HAZARD TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. DUE TO THIS I AM BITING THE BULLET AND WILL PAY TO HAVE THIS REPAIRED. ALTHOUGH, WHAT WORRIES ME ARE THE DRIVERS HAVING THIS PROBLEM AND UNABLE TO AFFORD THE REPAIRS DUE TO TOYOTA NOT HONORING THEIR PRODUCT. PLEASE CONSIDER INVESTIGATING THIS MATTER FURTHER. *TR

I AM CONCERNED BECAUSE I AM UNSURE IF THE EFFECTS OF THIS MELTED DASHBOARD WILL HAVE AN AFFECT ON THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT SYSTEM OR OTHER INTERIOR STRUCTURES. THE TRUNK HAS A DEFECTIVE DESIGN, UPON OPENING THE TRUNK WITH THE REMOTE AND THEN LIFTING THE TRUNK LID, THE TRUNK LID DOES NOT FULLY OPEN. THIS RESULTED IN MY HEAD HITTING THE TRUNK LID A CAUSING A CUT TO MY HEAD AND A MILD CONCUSSION. I BELIEVE THAT THE SPRINGS IN THE TRUNK DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH FORCE TO OPEN THE TRUNK FULLY. *TR

DRIVER SIDE SUN VISOR BECAME LOOSE AND EVENTUALLY FELL OFF. THERE WAS NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY, NO ROUGHNESS, JUST NORMAL USE. LOOSE ONE DAY AND WOULD NOT HOLD IN PLACE (EITHER UP OR DOWN). FINALLY FELL OFF IN MY LAP. TOYOTA SAID THEY WERE AWARE OF OTHER COMPLAINTS, BUT WOULD NOT FIX FOR FREE BECAUSE OF EXPIRED WARRANTY. REPLACEMENT COSTS +$120.00. I FOUND NUMEROUS OTHER CUSTOMERS ON LINE WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FIXED FOR CUSTOMERS. WHY WOULD SO MANY FOLKS HAVE THE VISOR SUDDENLY FALL OFF? *JS
