DASH-BOARD IS LIKE LIQUID WAX. I HAD A PIECE OF PAPER ON DASHBOARD WENT TO PICK UP AND MY FINGERNAIL TOOK A CHUNK OUT OF THE DASHBOARD. I TRIED TO VACUUM THE DUST ON IT BUT NOTHING PICKED UP, BECAUSE DUST WAS STUCK FAST AND VACUUM WAS LEAVING PERMANENT LINES ON THE DASH. EXTREMELY STICKY TO THE TOUCH AND LOOKS TERRIBLE WITH ALL THE DIRT STUCK FAST. *TR

I HAVE A STICKY DASHBOARD. BESIDES PUTTING A VERY SHINY REFLECTION ON MY WINDSHIELD, IT HAS BECOME VERY WEAK TO THE POINT THAT EVEN A TAP WITH MY FINGERNAIL REMOVES PIECES OFF. IT IS VERY CONCERNING. WHEN I QUESTIONED TOYOTA YEARS AGO THEY WERE WILLING TO CHANGE IT AT NO LABOR COST BUT I WOULD HAVE TO BUY THE PIECE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. *TR

THE CAMRY HAS A VERY BAD POPPING NOISE IN THE ROOF,SOUNDS LIKE THE CAR IS IN A BIND WHEN YOU RUN OVER SPEED BUMPS OR DRIVING ON A CURVY ROAD.I'VE CONTACTED TOYOTA AND THEY HAVE RECALLS ON 2012 MODELS FOR THE SAME THING BUT WON'T TALK ABOUT DOING ANYTHING FOR MINE,THE DEALERS SAY ITS A 5 TO 7 HOUR JOB AND I REALLY DON'T KNOW HOW STABLE THE ROOF IS.MY CAR IS A 2010 WITH 52,000 MILES JUST LIKE NEW INSIDE AND OUT AND TOYOTA SHOULD CORRECT THE KNOWN PROBLEMS THAT THEY CAUSED FROM THE FACTORY? I LIVE IN S. FLORIDA, AND OVER THE PAST YEAR, I'VE NOTICED THAT MY DASHBOARD IS MELTING FASTER AND FASTER EVERYDAY. IT ALSO IS VERY SHINY IN THE WORST AREAS AND IS VERY STICKY. IF I TOUCH IT, THE BLACK GUMMY/GOOEY SURFACE COMES OFF ON MY FINGER. PREVIOUSLY, I HAVE NOT USED ANY PRODUCTS TO CLEAN IT OTHER THAN A DAMP CLOTH (WITH WATER ONLY). OF COURSE, NOW I CAN'T CLEAN IT. I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO, AS I CAN'T AFFORD TO REPLACE IT. I BELIEVE THE MANUFACTURER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING IT AS THEY SOLD A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. I'VE LIVED HERE FOR MORE THAN 25 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED THIS WITH ANY OTHER CAR I'VE OWNED, SOME OF WHICH WERE MANY YEARS OLDER THAT MY CURRENT 4-YEAR-OLD TOYOTA CAMRY. IN ADDITION, WHEN DRIVING AT MORE THAN 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY, THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES WHEN I APPLY THE BRAKES EVEN SLIGHTLY, AND THE CAR VIBRATES. I'VE HAD IT CHECKED TWICE BY A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND THEY CLAIM EVERYTHING IS FINE AND IT'S JUST THE ANTI LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM FUNCTIONING. HOWEVER, THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. IT FEELS UNSAFE TO ME, AND I DON'T BUY THEIR EXPLANATION. AFTER GOOGLING THE PROBLEM, THERE SEEMS TO BE OTHERS WITH THIS PROBLEM ON THE SAME CAR. IT HAS BEEN SUGGESTED THAT THE ROTOR IS TOO SMALL FOR THE INCREASED CAMRY SIZE AND THUS BECOMES WARPED. THIS ALSO SHOULD BE EXAMINED AND REPLACED FREE OF COST BY THE MANUFACTURER IF THIS IS THE CAUSE. IN ANY CASE, TOYOTA SHOULD BE FORCED TO LOOK INTO THESE PROBLEMS AND SOLVE THEM WITH NO COST TO THE OWNERS. MANY OF US NO LONGER HAVE WARRANTIES. *TR

IN SUMMER OF 2012 MY DASH STARTED MELTING I ATTEMPTED TO CLEAN IT AND WAS UNABLE TO NO MATTER WHAT PRODUCTS WERE RECOMMENDED IN HANDBOOK AS TIME WENT ON IT ONLY GOT WORSE IT IS SO STICKY THAT EVERYTHING STICKS TO IT AND NOW IT LOOKS TERRIBLE IM COMPLETELY EMBARRASSED TO LET ANYONE IN MY VEHICLE IF I TRY AND TRADE IT OR SELL IT THE DAMAGE DECREASES THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE AND TOYOTA REFUSES TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THEIR MISTAKE I FEEL VICTIM TO TOYOTA I HAVE BEEN A FAITHFUL CUSTOMER FOR MANY YEARS THIS IS MY LAST TOYOTA PURCHASE. *JS

WHILE GOING DOWN THE STREET AND BRAKING AT AROUND 15 MPH I NOTICED A CREAKING NOISE. THE NOISE CONTINUED WHILE BRAKING, AND GOING OVER RAILROAD TRACKS AND UNEVEN PAVEMENTS. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE TOYOTA DEALER IN TOWN TO HAVE THE PROBLEM CHECKED OUT. THEY FOUND OUT THAT THE BODY STRUCTURE WAS MESSED UP. THE (A-PILLAR) WAS NOT CONNECTED TO THE MAIN FRAME. THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT THE PROBLEM, THAT I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE IT TO A BODY SHOP TO BE WELDED, THEY ALSO SAID AND GAVE ME PAPERWORK SAYING IT WAS A DEFECT IN THE 2007-2011 TOYOTA MODELS. *TR

SINCE THE PAST 60 DAYS THERE HAS BEEN A POPPING, CREAKING AND METAL FLEXING NOISE EMANATING FROM THE ROOF PANEL ESPECIALLY PRONOUNCED WHEN CROSSING OVER ANY UNEVEN PAVEMENT SURFACE, THE NOISE BEGAN AT 40,000 MILES, 4000 MILES AFTER THE MANUFACTURER WARRANTY EXPIRED, MY RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS IS AN INHERENT PROBLEM WITH SEVERAL TOYOTA MODELS ESPECIALLY THE CAMRY AND HAS BEEN EVIDENT SINCE MODEL YEAR 2007 WITH SUN/MOON ROOF INSTALLATIONS, ON CONTACTING THE DEALERSHIP I WAS INFORMED THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND IS ALMOST ALWAYS RELATED TO THE SUNROOF FRAME/GUIDE RAILS/INSULATION AND HAVE REPAIRED IT ON IT NUMEROUS OCCASIONS ALL BEING UNDER WARRANTY SINCE THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED ON MY VEHICLE I WAS DIRECTED TO CONTACT TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE, ON CONTACTING TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE I WAS REFUSED ANY ASSISTANCE AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF THE PROBLEM, PER MY RESEARCH THE PROBLEM HAS ESCALATED IN SOME CASES TO THE SUNROOF SHATTERING CAUSING A MAJOR DRIVING AND HEALTH HAZARD AND POSSIBLE SEVERE INJURIES FROM COLLISIONS AND/OR CUTS FROM SHATTERING GLASS. TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE REFUSES TO ADMIT THERE IS A FLAW IN THE DESIGN AND ASSEMBLY OF VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH SUN/MOON ROOF AND REFUSE TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM BY CLAIMING EXPIRATION OF WARRANTY. SERVICE MGR SHOWED ME SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT. FRONT FRAME SUPPORT NOT WELDED TO MAIN FRAME. NOTIFIED TOYOTA MOTORS USA AND SOUTHEAST TOYOTA OF THIS PROBLEM. I AM NOW NOTIFYING NHTSB OF THIS SERIOUS ISSUE. I HAVE NOTIFIED GOVERNOR OFFICE OF CONSUMER AFFAIRS IN CALIFORNIA, FLORIDA, GEORGIA. NO ONE WILL ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA CAMRY. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, SHE NOTICED A RAT CRAWL FROM UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT, INTO THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT AND INTO THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT. THE SIGHT OF THE RAT ALMOST CAUSED THE CONTACT TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO REMOVE THE RAT FROM THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER MADE REPAIRS TO THE REAR SEAT AND SEAT BELTS, IN WHICH THE RAT HAD CHEWED THROUGH. THE DEALER ALSO CLEANED THE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE DEALER ABOUT POSSIBLY HAVING A WIRE MESH INSTALLED OVER THE AIR INTAKE TO PREVENT ANY FUTURE RODENTS FROM ENTERING THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER ADVISED THAT ALTHOUGH THE FAILURE WAS A COMMON OCCURRENCE IN HER YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL, HE WOULD HAVE TO GET AUTHORIZATION FROM THE MANUFACTURER TO PERFORM THE REPAIR. THE CONTACT WAS AWAITING AUTHORIZATION FROM THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,500 AND THE CURRENT WAS UNKNOWN.

I BOUGHT 2010 CAMRY COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO AND HEAR A HEAVY WIND NOISE FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE. I AM TOLD BY TOYOTA REP THAT IT IS A DESIGN ISSUE AND THERE IS NOTHING CAN BE DONE. BOTH LEFT AND RIGHT SIDES AND FRONT OF THE CAR IS IDENTICAL. IF IT WAS A DESIGN ISSUE THEN WHY NOISE ON RIGHT SIDE ONLY. NOT SURE IF SOMETHING GOING TO LET LOOSE. CAN YOU PLEASE HELP ADDRESSING THIS PROBLEM WITH TOYOTA. ALREADY THERE ARE NUMEROUS PROBLEMS SUCH AS ACCELERATOR PEDAL, BRAKES AND SO FORTH. THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND ATTENTION. *TR
