Went in for regular oil change and was told the oil was burning and there was none left. First time ever hearing this problem, but very worried as to why this happened because of the possibility off engine damage driving without motor oil.

The dashboard is melted and creates a horrible glare that is blinding. I was never informed of any recall. Toyota claims when I called today that there was a recall that expired in 10/2019 that I was never notified on.

The problem is with the dashboard and it is available for inspection now. (I also have photos). It has been inspected by my two auto repair mechanics. Both are certified by AAA. The dashboard is shiny (it looks wet) and extremely sticky. There were no warning lights or messages regarding this problem. This problem began around 9/2023, but is much much worse now. It is possible that there are toxic substances being emitted from the melting compounds. This puts me and my passengers at a health risk from breathing in these substances.

My dash has melted its making my visibility impossible. I had to replace my windshield in June 2024 because of a crack Now my windshield gets and oily substance put off from the the dashboard and I cannot keep my windshield clean to see out of it.

My 2010 Toyota Camry has a sticky dashboard issue. I am the second owner of the vehicle. Toyota had an open recall on sticky dashboard recall that ended in 2020 which i was not aware of during my ownership term. I took the car into dealership multiple times for oil change and tires and I was never informed of this. They sent letter about notice to previous owner. The car was never fixed under recall. When i contacted them, they mentioned the car notice was sent to previous owner and they can't honor the warranty anymore. This is a bunch of crap. They should be held liable for 1.) sending notice to wrong address 2.) not fixing a faulty design. An expiration on "safety recall" doesn't mean the problem goes away. The problem exists on my car and it is a road-hazard as the sticky-melting dashboard creates a glare on the windshield. The car is not driveable during day time when sun is shining. This is a serious safety issue and can lead to death of driver. I expect this issue to be fixed under their now closed-recall. Closing recall doesn't fix probelm for owners that didn't receive proper communication. I expect TOYOTA to fix this free of charge

Sticky and Shiny Dashboard causes lots of reflection on windscreen hampering road visibility during direct sunlight and night driving. I am scared driving my car.

The dashboard is very sticky and highly reflective to the point where, at times, I cannot see through the windshield. Driving has now become dangerous and I almost went head on into a car in front of me after making a turn westbound into the setting sun. Toyota dealership was contacted and the Service department said there was a recall but it has since expired and want to charge me about $2000 to replace the manufacturer failed dashboard. I am the original owner and I never received a recall notice from Toyota or the dealer from whom I purchased the vehicle. The dash has been sticky and reflective for over 2 years now. If I cannot get this resolved with no cost replacement from Toyota, I will contact my attorney.

The dashboard is sticky and there is a shiny coat which makes it hard to see out of the front window. It is also causing the window to get a hazy film on the front window. I have owned this car since driving it off the lot brand new. I realize there was a recall for the dashboard and a warranty enhancement which expired in 2019. I spoke with Toyota corporate and they will not honor the recall because the enhancement warranty expired. Having said that, I am being penalized for keeping my car in great shape, working condition. I take pride in my vehicles and for this reason the dashboard lasted longer than the warranty of 2019. The fact still remains that this is a safety hazard with regards to seeing out the front window at night because of the reflection on the shiny/sticky dash. I called my nearby Toyota Dealership and the cost to replace the dash is $2069.68 including parts and labor. Please look into this matter as its about principle and Toyota should back their warranty especially since this is a safety issue.

THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING. THUS, IT HAS BECOME SHINY AND HINDERS VIEW SIGNIFICANTLY. IN ORDER TO DRIVE. A DARK CLOTH, ETC IS PLACED ON DASH TO ELIMINATE SHINE AND RESTORE PROPER VIEWING. IN ADDITION BOTH VISORS ARE REMOVED DUE TO FLOPPING DOWNWARD. AS A RESULT, THERE IS NO PREVENTION OF SUN GLARE WHILE DRIVING. THE COMBINATION OF BOTH ISSUES MAKES FOR A DANGEROUS DRIVING EXPERIENCE WHICH CAUSES MUCH ANXIETY. BOTH ISSUES WERE RECALLS BUT AS THE 2ND OWNER I WAS NOT CONTACTED BY THE MANUFACTURER. SUN VISORS HAVE DEFECTIVE PART AND FAIL TO GO ALL THE WAY AGAINST WINDSHIELD AND EVENTUALLY THE PART BREAKS AND VISOR IS UNABLE TO BE PROPERLY PUT UP (AGAINST THE ROOF OF CAR) AND OUT OF THE WAY WHEN NOT IN USE. VISOR HANGS IN FIELD OF VISION WHILE DRIVING AND IS PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS AT NIGHT OR WHEN IT IS RAINING, OBSTRUCTING VIEW AHEAD AND CANNOT SEE TRAFFIC SIGNALS. TOYOTA EVIDENTLY ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN/ WARRANTY EXTENSION WHEREIN THEY WOULD REPAIR FOR SEVEN YEARS FROM ORIGINAL DATE OF PURCHASE FOR 2007-2011 VEHICLES. THIS HAS BEEN EXTREMELY UNSAFE. HAD THERE BEEN A RECALL ISSUED, I WOULD HAVE KNOWN ABOUT THIS ISSUE WHEN I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE IN 2015, YET SERVICE BULLETINS ARE NOT REQUIRED TO BE PUBLISHED AND WELL-KNOWN. THIS HAS CREATED AN OBSTRUCTION TO MY FIELD OF VISION WHEN DRIVING AND HAS CREATED SOME HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS. WOULD A RECALL HAVE BEEN ISSUED, I WOULD STILL BE WITHIN THE TIME PERIOD BEFORE THE RECALL EXPIRED. TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM THAT WAS CAUSED BY MATERIALS OF INSUFFICIENT QUALITY AND ISSUED A WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT TO FIX THE PROBLEM. UNFORTUNATELY, AS A SECONDARY OWNER OF THE VEHICLE, I WAS NEVER INFORMED OF THIS AND DID NOT KNOW THE PROBLEM WAS WIDESPREAD AND MATERIAL-RELATED UNTIL I RECENTLY FOUND THAT INFORMATION ONLINE. THE WARRANTY EXTENSION PERIOD HAS NOW EXPIRED, BUT IN CASES LIKE MINE, THE ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN FIXED, LEAVING THE VEHICLE WITH A CONDITION THAT UNNECESSARILY CAUSES A SAFETY DEFICIENCY.

AT FIRST MY SUN VISOR FELL OFF ONE EVENING WHEN I WAS TRYING TO BLOCK THE SUN FROM DISRUPTING MY VIEW. THEN AS TIME WENT BY, MY DASHBOARD STARTED MELTING AND BECOMING STICKY. LIKE A GOO. THERE IS DIRT AND OTHER DEBRIS STUCK TO IT. VERY GROSS AND IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO CLEAN, WITH SO MUCH DIRT ON IT I FEEL IT IS A HEALTH HAZARD TO MY KIDS AND MYSELF. I TALKED TO TOYOTA A FEW DAYS AGO AND THEY FLAT OUT TOLD ME THAT THEY CANNOT AND WILL NOT FIX IT SINCE THE WARRANTY WAS OUT. THIS WAS NOT SOMETHING THAT I DID, BUT THE FAULT OF THE MANUFACTURER. THE GOO CAUSES A REFLECTION ON MY WINDSHIELD AND IT MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO SEE. THIS IS A DRIVING HAZARD, ESPECIALLY SINCE I DO NOT HAVE A SUN VISOR ON MY DRIVER SIDE SINCE IT HAS FALLEN OFF. I AM ASKING FOR TOYOTA TO DO THE RIGHT THING.

WE GAVE THEM OUR DETAILS BUT THEY SAID WE WERE STILL NOT ABLE TO GET THIS FIXED EVEN THOUGH WE WERE NEVER INFORMED.
