TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SPIRAL CABLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,800.

THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED NUMEROUS TIMES AND THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO SPECIFY WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIRS. THE REPAIR WAS NOT TAKEN CARE OF IN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
TOYOTA IS NOT ACTING TIMELY TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITH AIR BAG INFLATOR MODULE. IT INDICATES NOW THAT IT MAY BE 18 MONTHS OR LONGER FROM FIRST NOTIFICATION, WHICH WAS APRIL 2013 WHERE VEHICLES WERE TO BE INSPECTED AND FIXED IF EQUIPPED WITH AFFECTED MODULE. TAKATA GAVE WRONG SERIAL NUMBERS ON THE FAULTY MODULE SO VEHICLES FIXED AND/OR NOT FIXED OR INSPECTED NEED TO BE RECALLED AS OF JUNE 11, 2014. I ATTEMPTED TO HAVE MINE FIXED AUGUST 2014, HOWEVER TOYOTA SERVICE STILL DIDN'T HAVE THE REPLACEMENT PARTS. MY DAUGHTER TOOK CAR TO COLLEGE BUT NO SERVICE DEALER WAS AVAILABLE THERE. I JUST LEARNED OF THIS 2ND RECALL WHEN MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP CANCELLED THE APPOINTMENT I HAD FOR TODAY (6/20/14) TO HAVE THE FIRST RECALL FIXED. I AM TOLD THAT THEY NEED TO REDESIGN THE PART AND WILL BE REPLACING IT IN ALL VEHICLES AFFECTED, INCLUDING THOSE WHO RECEIVED A REPLACEMENT PART UNDER FIRST RECALL. NO REDESIGN HAS BEEN DONE, NOR TO THEY KNOW WHEN IT WILL BE DONE, LIKELY MORE MONTHS! IN INTERIM I HAVE A TICKING TIME BOMB BEING DRIVEN BE A TEEN DRIVER MORE PRONE TO ACCIDENTS. I DO NOT WANT AN SAFETY DEVICE IN CAR TO CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY! TOYOTA HAS HAD 15 MONTHS TO FIX THIS. IT NOW HALTS THE REPAIR OF AFFECTED VEHICLES INDEFINITELY WITHOUT ANY SOLUTION OR REMEDY?! YET ARE WILLING TO FIX VEHICLE WHERE A AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON? HOW? I WAS TOLD BY TOYOTA CORPORATE I COULD RECEIVE A LOANER VEHICLE IN THE INTERIM OF THIS REMEDY AND TO CONTACT MY LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER. I DID. THEY REFUSE TO COMPLY WITH THIS REQUEST SINCE NO LIGHT IS ON MY DASHBOARD. YOUR REPORTS DO NOT INDICATE THAT A LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD (10537899, 10568848, 10585224) OCCURRED PRIOR TO INCIDENT. I LIVE IN A HUMID CLIMATE SEVERAL MONTHS OF THE YEAR ANOTHER CONCERN FOR OWNERS. TOYOTA CONTINUES TO ASK ABOUT MILES ON VEHICLE, IS THAT BECAUSE THEY ARE OLDER MODELS AND THEY SECRETLY WANT THEM TO DIE FIRST!!! *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 TOYOTA COROLLA. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE AIR BAG INADVERTENTLY DEPLOYED. THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT CAUSED THE DRIVER TO REAR END ANOTHER VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED NOR WAS THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED. BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUSTAINED BRUISES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
IN NOVEMBER, 2013 THE OURISMAN CHANTILLY TOYOTA DEALER SERVICED MY CAR FOR 2 AIR BAG RELATED RECALLS. IN DECEMBER 2013 MY CAR SKID ON ICE AND HIT THE JERSEY BARRIER HEAD ON WITH A SIGNIFICANT FRONT IMPACT. THE FRONT BUMPER WAS ALL DAMAGED BUT NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. I HAVE CONTACTED THE TOYOTA DEALER "OURISMAN TOYOTA" IN CHANTILLY, VA WHERE I HAD PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW IN 2003. THE MANAGER RESPONDED THAT THE RECALL WORK WAS DONE PROPERLY AND THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE NON-DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAGS IN THE ACCIDENT AND THAT I SHOULD CONTACT TOYOTA FOR ANY CONCERNS. I HAVE CALLED TOYOTA AND THEY TOOK THE ISSUE VERY LIGHTLY AND SUGGESTED THAT THEIR AIRBAGS ARE ALL TESTED AND IF THERE WAS NO AIRBAG LIGHT ON PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT THEN THE AIRBAG WAS FUNCTIONING CORRECTLY. I INSISTED THAT SOMETHING MUST HAVE BEEN WRONG WITH THE AIRBAGS AND ARGUED THAT IF THEY ARE ALL SO PERFECT THEN WHY DO YOU HAVE SO MANY RECALLS. FINALLY HE ASKED ME TO SEND THE PHOTOS TO DETERMINE IF THE AIRBAG SHOULD HAVE DEPLOYED. I SENT THE ACCIDENT PHOTOS IN FEBRUARY 2014 AND HAVE SENT A REMINDER ON MARCH 2014 BUT THEY HAVE NOT RESPONDED BACK. I STRONGLY FEEL THAT TOYOTA IS IGNORING THIS ISSUE. SINCE THIS VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN BY ME AND MY FAMILY PARTICULARLY ME DAUGHTER, I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF WE WERE AT DANGER DUE TO FAULTY AIRBAGS OR NOT. IF I AM GOING TO BUY ANOTHER VEHICLE THEN I SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO KNOW THE PROS AND CONS OF THE MAKES AND MODELS. MOST OF ALL I BELIEVE IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 TOYOTA COROLLA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 25-30 MPH WHEN THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED INADVERTENTLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. THE INTERIOR CABIN IMMEDIATELY FILLED WITH SMOKE AND CHEMICALS THAT WERE BEING RELEASED FROM THE AIR BAG, OBSTRUCTING THE CONTACT'S VISIBILITY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SHIFT INTO PARK AND STOP THE VEHICLE WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH A LOCAL DEALER, WHO ADVISED THAT IT COULD POSSIBLY TAKE OVER SIXTY DAYS TO INVESTIGATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER'S SIDE SEAT BELTS COULD NOT BE USED, AS THEY WERE STUCK IN A LOCKED POSITION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 154,000.
I MET WITH AN ACCIDENT IN JANUARY 2013. IT WAS REALLY BAD ACCIDENT AND MY CAR GOT TOTALED. MY AIR BAG DIDN'T OPEN UP. NOW I AM RECEIVING THIS LETTER FROM TOYOTA THAT THERE IS SOME DEFECT IN AIRBAGS OF 2003-2004 MODEL. WHAT AM I SUPPOSE TO DO WHEN I ALREADY MET WITH THIS HORRIBLE ACCIDENT? ON A SECOND OCCASION, THE CONTACT WAS COMPLETING A TURN AND CRASHED. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY AND TWO PASSENGERS SUSTAINED INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN FOR INSPECTION OF THE AIR BAG FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE RECURRING AIR BAG FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 165,040.
I WAS ISSUED A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE THE SAFETY ISSUE RESOLVED. MY VEHICLE WAS DROPPED OFF AT THE DEALER APPROXIMATELY SIX WEEKS AGO AND I AM BEING TOLD THAT THE DEALER HAS NO IDEA WHEN THE PART WILL BE AVAILABLE. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. 2003 TOYOTA COROLLA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DEFECTIVE AIR BAG RECALL NOTICE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED SHE RECEIVED A RECALL LETTER REGARDING AN AIR ISSUE. THE AIR BAG LIGHT HAD ALREADY ILLUMINATED. WHEN SHE ARRIVED AT THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE PROBLEM RECTIFIED, SHE WAS INFORMED IN ORDER TO CORRECT THE PROBLEMS, SHE WOULD HAVE TO PAY $384.16. THE CONSUMER PROVIDED AN INVOICE, THAT SHOWED THE SENSOR AND HARNESS WERE REPLACED. HOWEVER, THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS STILL ON. ACCORDING TO THE INVOICE, THE SPIRAL CABLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
THIS IS THE SECOND RECALL NOTICE THAT I HAVE RECEIVED CONCERNING THE AIR BAG RECALL. I IMMEDIATELY RESPONDED BACK IN THE SPRING 2013 (APPRX.) WHEN YOU SENT THE FIRST RECALL NOTICE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP NAMELY, JIM BISHOP TOYOTA LOCATED IN TUSCUMBIA, ALABAMA AT THE FOLLOWING ADDRESS; 122 HIGHWAY 43 SOUTH, TUSCUMBIA, ALABAMA, 35674; PHONE NUMBER (256)383-3611. I CALLED AND SET UP AN APPOINTMENT TO COME IN AND HAVE THEM FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS VEHICLE IS MY SOLE MODE OF TRANSPORTATION SO I WAS HOPING THAT THE PROBLEM WOULD BE RESOLVED QUICKLY. I LEFT MY VEHICLE EARLY ONE MORNING AND IT STAYED OVERNIGHT AND LATE INTO THE EVENING THIS NEXT AFTERNOON. BASICALLY 2 DAYS. I CALLED TO CHECK TO SEE IF MY VEHICLE WAS READY. THEY HAD NOT EVEN TOUCHED MY CAR. TWO DAYS WITHOUT ONES VEHICLE FOR IT TO NOT EVEN BE LOOKED AT. REALLY? THE ONLY TIME IT WAS MOVED I BELIEVE IN THOSE 2 WORKING DAYS WAS WHEN THEY PULLED IT OUT OF THE BAY IN ORDER TO MOVE IN NEWER VEHICLES AHEAD OF MINE. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND PICKED UP MY VEHICLE. THEN, ON TOP OF THAT, THEY SEEMED TO CARE LESS THAT I WAS NOT GETTING MY VEHICLE AIR BAG REPLACEMENT. THEY SAID THEY HAD ORDERED IT AND THAT IT WAS ON BACK ORDER. WITHOUT A PHONE CALL TO SAY AS MUCH. THEY SAID THEY WOULD CALL ME TO LET ME KNOW WHEN IT CAME IN. TODAY IS OCTOBER 26, 2013. ITS BEEN APPROXIMATELY 5 MONTHS AND NOT A WORD. I GO TO MY MAILBOX THIS MORNING AND THERE IS MY SECOND RECALL NOTICE FOR MY AIRBAG. WHAT IS A PERSON TO DO WHEN THEY TRY TO DO THE RIGHT THING AS FAR AS TAKING THEIR VEHICLES IN TO HAVE THE REPAIR DONE AND THE DEALERSHIP DROPS THE BALL? I WANT THIS TO SERVE AS AN OFFICIAL NOTICE OF COMPLAINT. I TRUST THAT YOU WILL, AFTER RECEIVING THIS COMPLAINT, CONTACT THEM AND ASK THEM WHY MY VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED.
