I got an “engine maintenance requested” notification on my car. I took it to a mechanic and they said the coolant bypass valve is defected

Engine Coolant Bypass Valve Issues/Faulty. No problems prior to “engine maintenance message”. Message only comes up when the A/C is turned on.

* What failed was engine coolant bypass valve. * Safety was at risk as the failure can lead to engine overheating over time. * it has been reproduced by countless others after their vehicle hits 30k to 70k. *there was a message on the dash about “engine issues and to take to dealer”

The coolant bypass valve failed in my car causing “engine maintenance required” message but no CEL code. Took it to the dealership where they determined failed component and replaced it. The car only had about 71,000 miles and with a engine cooling system failure it could potentially cause further damage.

The alert for the Bypass Coolant Valve came on and cost $800 to replace. As this is a common issue across multiple Toyota models, this should be a recall.

I am up to date with all my maintenance but at 67k miles I had a message stating “Engine Maintenance Required” message on my dashboard. I took it to the dealership and they identified the cooler bypass valve needed to be replace, apparently this is a common issue and has not been addressed by Toyota. Plus it’s difficult to find the part that needs to be replaced. There was no check engine light, and everytime I turned on the AC the engine maintenance required message would pop back up. If this is a known issue Toyota needs to make this issue public and parts available.

All of sudden the Engine Maintenance Required sign popped up on the screen during when I was driving. The sign popped up every time I turn on the car. I took the car to Toyota service immediately and diagnostic showed it was Engine coolant bypass valve circuit short to battery or open.

I got a “Engine Maintenance Required” warning message. I check with the dealer, the dealer inspected and told me about a faulty coolant bypass valve which the dealership told us a common problem for Toyota RAV4 and Corolla. The dealer did a diagnostic and found that engine coolant bypass valve circuit short to battery - (P268115). They asked me to order the part. A faulty coolant bypass valve risked my vehicle of a failure of the cooling system and so the engine. I had to pay $113.40 for the diagnostic and $331.75 for repair. Since it is a common problem, the manufacturer has to recall and replace the faulty part and pay the cost of the part and labor for replacing the faulty part.

Coolant bypass valve is faulty and a lot of people have had this issue. Toyota is well aware of the faulty part and it affects many models and years of cars. They want to charge 800 bucks for an easy fix. It is robbery and could be a big safety hazard if it causes engine to stall while driving

I got a “Engine Maintenance Required” warning message. I check with the dealer and upon diagnosis told me about a faulty coolant bypass valve which is a common problem for Toyota RAV4 and Corolla. The Toyota Mechanic mentioned that this should have been a recall issue. The cost to repair was unbelievable considering it will take only a short time to do. BOught the parts and will have it installed somewhere where the labor is cheaper. Since it is a common problem, the manufacturer should recall this issue, replace the faulty part and pay the cost of everything.

ENGINE MAINTENANCE CAME ON, TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST SHOWED COOLANT BYPASS VALVE. APPARENTLY THIS IS A RECURRING ISSUE AND IF NOT TAKING CARE OF, IT COULD CAUSE MAJOR PROBLEMS. I WAS TOLD THE PART IS $200 PLUS AND LABOR IS $500 PLUS. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE AND FIXED FREE OF CHARGE BY TOYOTA. IN DOING A GOOGLE SEARCH, SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ARE LISTED REGARDING THIS ISSUE. THE GENTLEMAN AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I TOOK MY CAR STATED HE HAS DONE SEVERAL VEHICLES RECENTLY WITH THIS ISSUE. I DON'T THINK USE AS A CUSTOMER SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS KNOWN ISSUE BY TOYOTA. I'M ALSO STILL WAITING TO GET THE RECALL FIXED ON MY MOTHER'S TOYOTA RAV4 RECALL WHICH I RECEIVED NOTIFICATION ON BACK IN EARLY 2023. THEIR EXCUSE IS NOT PARTS AVAILABLE. SO IN THE MEAN TIME, IF THE VEHICLE CATCHES FIRE, THEY SAY OH WELL. I AM OVER TOYOTA GETTING AWAY WITH THIS.

ON MARCH 2, 2019 I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2019 TOYOTA HATCHBACK FROM TOYOTA OF RICHARDSON. AFTER ONLY OWNING THE CAR FOR 3 WEEKS I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM MY VEHICLE'S ALERT SYSTEM THAT THERE WAS A SAFETY RECALL ON IT. I WAS NEVER TOLD THIS BY THE AUTO DEALER OR BY TOYOTA. THE RECALL WAS DUE TO AN ERROR WITH THE MANUFACTURING OF THE VEHICLE. IN RESEARCHING THIS, I FOUND THAT IN DECEMBER OF 2018 THIS RECALL WAS PUBLICIZED ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB AND WITH NHTSA. THE TORQUE CONVERTERS IS DEFECTIVE AND COULD CAUSE A CRASH WHEN THE CAR HAS RAPID ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE COULD SUDDENLY LOSE POWER WHILE DRIVING. MY DAUGHTER, WHO IS THE CO-OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE, IS THE PRIMARY DRIVER. SHE HAS 4 CHILDREN, IN WHICH ONE IS HANDICAPPED. SHE AND HER CHILDREN HAS BEEN AT RISK WHEN DRIVING AND/OR RIDING IN THIS VEHICLE SINCE THE PURCHASE DATE. SO, FOR 3 WEEKS MY FAMILY WAS AT RISK OF HAVING AN AUTO ACCIDENT DUE TO A MANUFACTURER'S DEFAULT IN WHICH A RECALL WAS ISSUED 3 MONTH PRIOR TO THE PURCHASE OF THIS VEHICLE! YET THE DEALER DID NOT TAKE THE TIME TO FIX THIS PROBLEM PRIOR TO OUR PURCHASE. THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!
