TOYOTA HAS NOT REIMBURSED ME FOR PAYMENT I MADE TO REPLACE A LEAF (SPRING). THE LEAF BECAME SUBJECT TO A RECALL. I HAVE SENT THEM DOCUMENTATION AND SOMETIMES THEY ASKED ME FOR DOCUMENTATION I HAVE ALREADY PROVIDED. NOW THEY ARE ASKING FOR DOCUMENTATION SHOWING CAUSE AS TO WHY THE LEAF FAILED???? OUR 2008 TOYOTA TACOMA WAS MAKING A CREAKING NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR SUSPENSION. IN 12/2012, WE HAD TAKEN IT TO OUR MECHANIC WHO NOTICED THE SPRINGS SEEMED TO BE SAGGING BEYOND NORMAL & HE SUGGESTED WE REPLACE THE SPRINGS & SHOCKS. WE LATER RECEIVED NOTICE FROM TOYOTA REGARDING A LEAF SPRING RECALL. WE SENT TOYOTA THE APPROPRIATE PAPERWORK, WHICH WAS REQUESTED FROM TOYOTA, AS WE HAD ALREADY PAID FOR THE LEAF SPRING REPLACEMENT. WE WERE TOLD THAT "THE REPAIR PERFORMED ON YOUR VEHICLE DOES NOT MEET THE CRITERIA FOR REIMBURSEMENT." WE ARE REQUESTING AN APPEAL AS WE FEEL OUR LEAF SPRING SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER THE RECALL.

NHTSA RECALL: 14V-604 (LEAF SPRINGS RECALL) I ATTEMPTED TO HAVE MY LEAF SPRINGS REPLACED AFTER RECEIVING A LETTER FROM TOYOTA. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BAYRIDGE TOYOTA IN BROOKLYN NY TO HAVE THE WORK DONE. WAS NEVER TOLD THAT IT WOULD REQUIRE TWO VISITS AND THE FIRST VISIT WAS ONLY FOR AN INSPECTION. THEN WHEN I WAS TOLD THE SERVICE WOULD TAKE ANOTHER TWO WEEKS IN ORDER TO GET THE PARTS IN, I WAS FORCED TO DECLINE THE SERVICE TO GET MY VEHICLE BACK. I SPOKE WITH TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVES AND THE NATIONAL PEOPLE WERE FRIENDLY AND RESPONSIVE AND THE BROOKLYN DEALERSHIP AT BAYRIDGE MADE IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO WORK WITH. THE TOYOTA RECALL LETTER ALSO NEVER MENTIONS TWO VISITS. IT ONLY SAYS THE SERVICE WILL REQUIRE TWO HOURS. THE TRUCK WAS DROPPED OFF FOR A DAY AND WAS RETURNED WITH A LIST OF OTHER THINGS THAT NEEDED REPLACING. THE DEALERSHIP NEVER ACTUALLY WROTE DOWN IF THE LEAF SPRINGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, THEY ONLY LISTED THE EXTRA WORK THEY WANTED TO ADD ON. ALSO WHILE SETTING UP THE APPOINTMENT WITH BAYRIDGE TOYOTA THEY GAVE THE IMPRESSION THE WORK WOULD BE DONE DURING THE TIME IT WAS DROPPED OFF THE THE FIRST AND ONLY TIME.

IN JUNE OF 2014 I WENT TO GET AN MA STATE SAFETY INSPECTION STICKER AND WAS TOLD AT THE SULLIVAN TIRE AUTO CENTER IN RAYNHAM, MA THAT ONE OF THE LEAF SPRINGS ON MY 2008 TACOMA WAS FRACTURED AND I COULD NOT GET A SAFETY INSPECTION STICKER. I WENT TO COPELAND TOYOTA, IN BROCKTON, MA, (WHERE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE) AND WAS TOLD THAT THE BROKEN SPRING WAS DUE TO OLD AGE. I THEN WENT BACK TO SULLIVAN TIRE AND HAD THEM REPLACE THE LEAF SPRINGS ON MY TRUCK. THEN ON SEPTEMBER 29, 2014, I RECEIVED AN INTERIM RECALL NOTICE FROM TOYOTA SAYING THAT THE LEAF SPRINGS ON MY TRUCK COULD FRACTURE. THE NHTSA REFERENCE ID IS 14V604. WHEN I CALLED COPELAND TOYOTA TO GET REIMBURSED FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE LEAF SPRINGS THEY SAID IT WAS TOYOTA'S PROBLEM. I CALLED TOYOTA IN TORRANCE, CA SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS TOLD I HAD TO WAIT FOR A SECOND NOTICE (REMEDY) BEFORE I COULD BE CONSIDERED FOR REIMBURSEMENT. I HAVE WAITED PATIENTLY FOR THE SECOND LETTER TO COME AND I THINK 12 MONTHS IS FAR TOO LONG FOR ME TO WAIT TO GET SOME INFORMATION FROM TOYOTA REGARDING HOW I CAN GET REIMBURSED FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE FRACTURED SPRING.
