2017 Toyota Tacoma Engine

Have had engine issues such as stalling, rattling, limp mode, rough idling and engine missing. Have had repairs done but continues to have major issues where it is not functioning properly.

Then the vehicle was towed to the dealer for manufacturer investigation. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 123,000.

The contact, who is an independent mechanic, diagnosed the vehicle and retrieved a DTC code for a cylinder #3 misfire. The contact swapped the spark plugs and the code indicated misfires in four cylinders. The contact stated while inspecting around the top intake manifold, the contact noticed that the flap used to regulate the air to the engine had detached. The contact was afraid of driving the vehicle and was concerned that the unknown plastic piece could cause engine failure, was also detached. The dealer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact research the instructions. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

Rear coolant bypass joint leak. This is a plastic defective pipe that has leaked on my truck and thousands of others! The dealership wants 2000 dollars to repair their cheap mistake! I have pictures and invoice to upload, but the site will not allow it.

It has been well established among 2016 and up Toyota Tacoma owners and clubs that the Rear Coolant Bypass Joint leaks at different mileages, If the loss of coolant happens rapidly enough the engine could overheat and siez up and cause the pistions to weld to the cylinders along with causing extensive engine damage not to mention how the driver would handel the truck, Toyota dealerships and Manufacture also know of This Coolant Bypass joint leak and how common it is. Also the corrosive build up from the antifreeze will cause other parts and wires to not work, Attached is my part and the build up of antifreez before the leak,

CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR-TRUCK STALLED WHILE DRIVING ALMOST CAUSEING AN ACCIDENT.OTHER TRUCKS HAVE BEEN RECALLED SINCE 2017 BUT NOT MINE.NO INSPECTION HAS BEEN MADE I WENT TO DEALER AND CALLED TOYOTA HEADQUARTERS AND THEY SAID THEY COULD DO NOTHING.MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON AND OFF FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS AND WON'T START SOMETIMES RAN COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS AND THIS SENSOR CAME UP.

OIL FILTER HOUSING CRACKED UPON REMOVAL, WAS PUT BACK ON AND LEAKED ALL OIL FROM ENGINE. SUPRISED MOTOR DID NOT SEIZE WHILE DRIVING. TERRIBLE DESIGN

2017 TOYOTA TACOMA 2GR-FKS (V6) MOTOR FAILURE AT 110,000 MILES. CYLINDER #5 & 6 MISFIRE CODES THROWN AFTER NOMINAL DRIVING CONDITIONS ON THE INTERSTATE. AFTER STOPPING AT A GAS STATION, I ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE TRUCK. TRUCK WOULD NOT IDLE AND WAS NOT DRIVE-ABLE. THE MOTOR HAD NEW SPARK PLUGS AND A NEW CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. TRUCK WAS TOWED TO A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP, WHO DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM AS BEING ZERO COMPRESSION ON CYLINDER #5 & 6. NEW MOTOR NEEDED :(

THE ENGINE MAKE NOISE AFTHER 5 MINUTES START CLACK , CLACK , LOOK LIKE I HAVE THE DIESEL CAR , WHEN PUSH GAS MAKE NOISE AND SOMETIMES LOOS POWER , WHEN DRIVEN I HEAR THE NOISE INSIDE CABIN CLACK CLACK ALL THE TIME EVERYWHERE MY TRUCK IS 2017 TACOMA 4 DOORS WITH 36,000 MILES I TAKE YO DEALER TOYOTA AN SAY IS NORMAL . ENGINE STALLS WHEN ATTEMPTING RAPID ACCELERATION WHEN ENGINE RPM IS LESS THAN 3000. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I RECENTLY ATTEMPTED RAPID ACCELERATION WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN TO AVOID A COLLISION WHERE AN ONCOMING DRIVER RAN A RED LIGHT. THE ENGINE STALLED. I HAVE EXPERIENCED OTHER SIMILAR INCIDENTS. I HAVE REPORTED THIS TO MY TOYOTA SERVICE CENTER TWICE. THE FIRST TIME I WAS TOLD TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THE CONDITION, WHICH WOULD BE ADDRESSED IN A SOFTWARE UPDATE. THE SECOND TIME I WAS TOLD MY ENGINE WAS OPERATING WITHIN NORMAL SPECIFICATION PARAMETERS, AND NO SUCH SOFTWARE UPDATE WAS FORTHCOMING. IT WAS RAINING THE DAY I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE, SO IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE TO TEST LOW END ACCELERATION. I WOULD NEVER HAVE BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE HAD I KNOWN LOW END ACCELERATION WAS SO LETHARGIC. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS IT HAS NEARLY GOTTEN ME KILLED.

ENGINE BOGGS DOWN LOSES RPM'S DURING DRIVING OF VEHICLE ON HWY AND STREETS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MAC HAIK TOYOTA (2112 GULF FWY S, LAKE CITY, TX 77573, (281) 884-3744) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED, BUT NO FAILURE CODE WAS LOCATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE MAC HAIK DEALER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 9,500.

I BOUGHT A TOYOTA TACOMA THINKING I WAS PURCHASING A ROUGH TUFF TRUCK. IT IS BY FAR THE WEAKEST TRUCK/CAR I HAVE EVER DRIVEN. IT HAS NO POWER, CANNOT PULL MORE THAN AN INFLATABLE RAFT, DOWN SHIFTS IF A BUTTERFLY FLIES IN FRONT OF THE TRUCK. GAS MILEAGE IS PATHETIC, MY KIDS 2004 FORD RANGER HAS TWICE THE POWER AND CAN CARRY AND TOW THREE TIMES AS MUCH AS THE TOYOTA. THE TRUCK IS PATHETIC! SHAME ON YOU FOR SELLING ME SUCH A WEAK SHAMEFUL TRUCK.
