While I was driving on the highway, the EPC light came on and the car began to lose power. It went into "limp" mode and lost all oil. I had it diagnosed at VW Carlock North Nashville. They told me the "exhaust camshaft cover bolts backed themselves out causing oil to get into timing belt and make belt swell causing it to lose tension and sheer timing belt, must replace timing belt, timing belt tensioner, timing belt idle pulley, exhaust camshaft cover bolts." This is barely out of warranty and the car has 46,000 miles. Why would the camshaft cover bolts simply come out? This is extremely dangerous, and the cost to repair it will exceed $3000. I am beyond frustrated.
The panoramic sunroof randomly shattered while driving. Nothing hit it, and it wasnt opened or cracked.
When switching the gear in reverse. The car's reverse transmission locks then all of the sudden makes big thump sound and sudden rush of torque/power burst while reversing. It nearly hit a pedestrian if I wasn't careful
Recall emmissions on the evap purge valve with hose assembly. I am having issues under this recall for the 2019 Volswagen Jetta only my VIN number is not included in the recall but I am experiencing the same code and issues. Volkswagen will not honor the recall because my VIN is not included on this overwhelming problem they have with this issue. Light has been going on and off for over a year.
I purchased a new 2019 VW Jetta GLI. Since the first day I bought the car four years ago, whenever I call someone or receive a call, and my iPhone is plugged in to the USB socket to connect to hands-free calling, the person on the other end hears a very big echo and voice lag. 100% of the time this happens. I end up having to hang up and call just using the speaker on my phone because no one can stand the giant echo reverb they hear on their end. I have brought the car into a few different VW dealerships to have this fixed and they never fix it. I paid $500 to a local mechanic to have the entire hardware unit replaced with a new VW --manufactured unit and the problem still exists. I googled to see if other owners of a 2019 VW Jetta are having this issue and it appears to be a very, very widespread and persistent problem across the entire brand. VW has known about this problem for five years! They do not fix it ever. They need to be forced into fixing it by a government agency like you please! This is a safety and legal issue, since I am not able to use the hands-free calling feature in my car. It is illegal in my state to use a cell phone while driving unless it is a hands-free call. If you google this problem, you will find thousands of owners with this problem. Please issue a recall as it is a safety issue and a legal liability. Thank you! My starter and gear shift have been malfunctioning, the starter barely turns over and the gearshift sends out a warning to only exit the vehicle in ‘P’ position…
There is a yellow triangle caution light keep coming up and it stated that I should park safely and please service vehicle. I think its the shift level causing that warning ️ to appear.
I keep getting a message on my dash saying ONLY EXIT VEHICLE IN “P” Position. Please Service Vehicle.
I know there is a Shift Lever Micro Switch Recall for the Volkswagen Jetta up to the year 2018. My car is the 2019 model and I am getting the error message for this issue. Can the recall be expanded to include the 2019 model? For now, I am setting my parking brake to keep my car from possibly rolling when I park.
The 2019 VW Jetta has a MASSIVE safety issue that is caused by the Andriod Auto feature/software within the vehicle. When driving (for about 45 minutes - 60 minutes) the Android Auto feature will shut off when a cell phone is fully plugged into the vehicle (via USB cable). Therefore, the Android Auto issue is fully unavailable for drivers. This is an absolute beyond massive safety concern because a cell phone is not 'hands-free' for a driver. This issue has been addressed online and it seems that there is no solution. Buying a new USB charging cord, software update, etc. This issue is caused by the internal system in the 2019 VW Jetta. Hope this makes sense. But please read articles found online. This issue needs to be resolved ASAP. Especially due to the fact that a cell phone is no longer hands-free, and the use of navigation (Google Maps) is no longer available. I am clearly not the only one with this issue with the vehicle. This HAS TO be investigated as this issue could cause an accident in the future, no doubt. [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I had been having issues with car turning off while I was driving, at times leaving me stuck at a red light or stop sign. I’d get a warning on my car that said “Please check the starter system”. At times, my car wouldn’t start at all. This issue had been happening since around March 2023 and it’s the end of July 2023, my car stopped turning on completely. I have not been able to use my car. A recall was issued for the problems I had been having in September 2023. I haven’t been able to use my car in almost 6 months
Engine started and running but no lights on dashboard ac and signals not working even windows not rolling Message displayed as check starter system
Unknown, there has been no remedy for this recall for more than a month
On hot days, has happened multiple times. At parking lot, car did not turn on first two attempts, finally when on, then electrical shuts off. Starter system faulty message service vehicle. Stuck key in and out, several attempts: Got car to turn on. Moved it to shade as electrical shut off. Once cooled turn back on. Other instance, while driving on highway the dasboard, gauges, electronics info system shut off. AC and Engine remained on. No turn signals availability. Happened during day time; I assume brake lights not working either. Pulled over, called dealer, said it's safety feature Temp Sensor when its hot outside car will shut off. Issue for months now. Prior to this P Position message yellow triangle exclamation point. Shifter moved bach and forth along with turning key ignition several time ( cooler weather period). May or may not be related. Service engine soon pops up. The Car always has oil changes, antifreeze, and filters up to date. Car has new battery. Alternator is working properly. No indication its the starter. Still having issue. I had car towed to VW dealership as I read about recall. Misunderstanding, they will not work on it as recall is not active. Key Ignition Switch: no solution status. I had car towed because the associate at VW stated it would be worked on and recall set for October 2023 to be honored. The solution is not to have car remain in shade, or wait for recall to be active. VW must be awareof issue: temp senor, ignition key switch/system and possible shifter. Not safe to at all. Cars can hit you during this event with no brakes, sometimes shuuting off or be left stranded.

Moonroof exploded leavin shards of glass all over, no rocks hit car no bumps no explanation, I was just driving on a flat surface around 30 MPH, I heard a loud explosion and glass was everywhere including my arms and face. I nearly caused an accident with the sudden explosion.
“Please check starter system “ error popped up and the dashboard died , AC died but the car kept running saying please drive to safety
My 2019 Volkwagen Jetta Sunroof shattered, while I was driving on the highway. It sounded like a shotgun sound, when it happened. I've only owned this car for 2 years. Also, I only drive 60 miles per hour, never any higher. Thank you, [XXX] Downers Grove, IL INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The windshield cracked while car was sitting in my driveway. At 8:30am it was fine. At 3pm there was a very large crack. No mark from rock, pebble or object of any kind is present. Car is available for inspection. Safety put at risk should the crack cause a weakened windshield to fall out of frame. No inspections have been performed yet.
As I was driving on the highway 101 in Bay Area California, suddenly the sunroof glass exploded and the fragments were deposited on the under cover. No weather related issues at the time. Did not feel any debris hitting the car either. Seems like a manufacturing defect. Vehicle still under warranty.
Door lock actuator is breaking and it’s a hit or miss on locking the door.
The heating/air conditioner has failed twice within one year preventing defrost during incliment weather especially rain and frost.
Unknown. I took my car in for recall repairs and they repaired all but the one listed on this site which seems kind of important
Like MANY people have experienced, I was driving on the highway when the sunroof glass suddenly exploded. It was terrifying and the startled reaction could easily have caused a serious highway speed crash. There was no obvious reason for the failure of the glass but having shattered glass fall in my lap was scary.
I have a 2019 Jetta R line Series, last year in the winter time the casing for the driver side mirror melted. I went 2 times to Volkswagen, and to other body and paint shops and no one has seen anything like this before? Finally I had to file a claim for Vandalism. I had to pay $750 to the body shop and it was repaired. All Summer, Spring, and Fall, it was fine. Well It happened again on the same side and almost exactly 1 year later from the first one. Took it Volkswagen after speaking Customer Service as an elevated evaluation. I was there for 2 hours, the conclusion again is that "It's an OUTSIDE INFLUENCE" I have done a lot of research and found that other makes and models have had this happen as well. All the other car makers gave the stock answer "OUTSIDE INFLUENCE"! How does this happen twice to the same car. I am on Disability, and hardly drive. Right now I only have 8 thousand miles on the car. I go to the supermarket park in handicap and come home and park in handicap. There is something wrong with this car and I'm afraid that something may catch on fire. The only other thing I can think of is that it has something to do with the main heater and defroster for the whole car. It got very cold here and I had to use both the heated and defroster. Now it has almost completely melted. -- [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
