My 2018 Colorado Z71 (40,000 miles) suffers from transmission shudder intermittently. Dealer took it for a 14 mile test drive and was unable to duplicate. Blamed it on the tires. Refused to flush transmission fluid in accordance with GM TSB 18-NA-355. Shudder becomes worse when trailering boat. Known issue to GM, however, dealers refuse to perform the solution provided by GM in the absence of a recall.
Ignition key gets stuck and will not come out of switch when vehicle is put in park and turned off. Must restart vehicle several times and engage transmission from park to drive or neutral several times before the key will eventually come out

The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA to file a complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
IGNITION SWITCH FULLY WON'T TURN TO OFF POSITION. ENGINE DOES TURN OFF, BUT KEY CAN'T BE REMOVED. HAPPENS FREQUENTLY AND SO FAR, STARTING IT, PUTTING IT INTO DRIVE OR REVERSE AND MOVE A BIT, THEN BACK INTO PARK WILL WORK. AT SOME THAT MIGHT NOT WORK AND I'D HAVE TO LEAVE THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND LEAVE THE TRUCK UNATTENDED. I COULD STILL LOCK IT, BUT IF SOME KIDS SEE IT OR BREAK INTO IT, THEY COULD DRIVE IT AWAY. Upon acceleration the truck felt as if we were riding over rumble strips. No lights/warnings. Although this was ongoing whenever driving, the truck continued to operate normally otherwise. Searching the internet noted a problem with this year/make/model with the transmission - one search result suggested submitting the information here. The dealer flushed the fluid today and told us it might take up to 200 miles for the shudder/rumble to stop.
When driving over 40MPH there is a very pronounced Shuttering/Vibration that occurs. Assume it's caused by the transmission based on many complaints I've read on the internet.
WHEN TURNING THE KEY INTO THE IGNITION POSITION THE VEHICLE WILL GIVE A RANDOM DOWNSHIFT UNLESS THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PRESSED DOWN. ALSO EXPERIENCING A ROUGH DOWNSHIFT BETWEEN 2ND AND 1ST GEAR WHEN STOPPING AS SMOOTHLY AS POSSIBLE. VEHICLE AS BEEN IN AND OUT THE DEALERSHIP WITH THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTING.
2018 CHEVY COLORADO ZR2, 21000 MILES. ENGINE SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING IN MOTION ON ROAD. RESTARTED TWICE AND SHUTDOWN AGAIN TWICE. CHECK END ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND TRACTION CONTROL SAID IT WAS DISABLED. STARTED THIRD TIME AND PUT IN DRIVE. WOULDN'T PUT POWER FROM ENGINE TO DRIVE TRAIN. 4TH START, PUT IN DRIVE AND LIMPED BACK HOME. WAS TOWED TO CLOSEST DEALER AND THEY CLEARED ERROR CODES WITH DIAGNOSING. I SCANNED CODES BEFORE BEING TOWED AND ERROR CODES WERE U0700 AND U0100. AFTER 3 DAYS OF NO COMMS FROM 1ST DEALER HAD 2ND DEALER PICK UP VIA TOW TRUCK. THEY SAID 1ST DEALER CLEARED CODES AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE. PICKED UP TRUCK AND RAN FINE FOR A WEEK, THEN HAD SAME ISSUE ON BUSY ROAD. HAD TO RESTART, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND LIMPED BACK HOME. SCANNED CODES AND RECEIVED SAME U0700, U0100. DEALER IS HAVING TOW TRUCK PICK UP TRUCK TO DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE CAUSING TRUCK TO SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING AND NOT KNOWING IF IT WILL RESTART AND HAVE POWER TO DRIVETRAIN.
WHILE DRIVING ON CITY STREET AND HIGHWAY, TRANSMISSION SHIFTING AT SPEEDS OF 25MPH,45MPH,55MPH START VIBRATING ALSO COMING TO A STOP FEEL LIKE A REAR END BUMP.
I AM WRITING TO INFORM YOU OF A SAFETY ISSUE WITH MY 2018 CHEVROLET COLORADO. WHEN PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN PARK THE IGNITION KEY WILL NOT RELEASE. CHEVROLET DOC# 4811390 DOCUMENTS A FLEET WIDE PROBLEM WITH THE COLORADO. THERE HAS BEEN NO RE-CALL ISSUED BY CHEVROLET TO CORRECT THIS SAFETY ISSUE. I GOT MY COLORADO REPAIRED AT A COST OF $642.15. I LOOKED AT THE SHIFTER THAT WAS REMOVED FROM THE TRUCK, AND FOUND THAT THE MICRO SWITCH THAT ACTIVATES WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PLACED IN PARK HAD A BROKEN MOUNTING POST CAUSING IT TO BE MISALIGNED. I HAVE INCLUDED PICTURES OF THE SWITCH AND MOUNTING POST. *JS
MY 2018 CHEVROLET ZR2 STARTED TO HARD SHIFT BETWEEN FIRST AND SECOND GEAR. IT ALSO SOUNDS LIKE IT IS RUNNING OVER RUMBLE STRIPS WHEN DRIVING BETWEEN 50-75MPH. WHEN I RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE, I FOUND THOUSANDS OF ISSUES ONLINE THAT MATCHED THIS PROBLEM 100 PERCENT. IT IS CALLED THE CHEVY SHAKE OR THE GMC SHUTTER. MIND YOU, THE DEALERSHIP VERIFIED THAT THEY HAVE BEEN SENT KITS FROM GM TO CORRECT THESE ISSUES. IT'S CALLED THE TCC SHUDDER.
SOME TIME IT FEELS AS IF YOU ARE RIDING ON THE RUMBLE STRIPS ON SHOULDER OF THE ROAD AND SOME TIMES IT SHIFTS PRETTY HARD THE RUMBLE CAN HAPPEN AT ANYTIME
THE TRANSMISSION IN MY TRUCK SHAKES, SHIMMIES, VIBRATES, SHUTTERS WHEN DRIVING AND SHAKES, SHIMMIES VIBRATES EVEN AT IDLE. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY REMOVED ALL OF THE TRANSMISSION FLUID AND REPLACED WITH NEW FLUID AS PER CHEVROLET CORPORATE MANDATE. THE TRUCK REMAINS IN SHAKING, SHIMMIES, SHUTTERS AND VIBRATING.
TRANSMISSION SHUDDERING. - IDENTIFIED VARIABLE SPEED OCCURRENCE COULD HAPPEN AT 25 OR 65. UNRELATED TO TIRES/STEERING OR TO SHOCK CAVITATION OR ROUGH ROADS. HAPPENS ON SMOOTH OR ROUGH ROADS. VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN OFF-ROAD. VARIED INCONSISTENCY. MORE APPARENT WHEN ENGINE IS COLD SHIFTING FROM 1ST TO 2ND TO 3RD THEN WILL DISSIPATE. SHIFTS HARD 1ST TO 2ND AND SOMETIMES 3RD WHEN ENGINE IS COLD. ONCE WARM SHIFTING IS SMOOTHER BUT SHUDDERING STILL OCCURS.
IT HAS AN INTERMITTENT SHUDDER AT NO PARTICULAR SPEED AND A KIND OF TUGGING AT SLOW ACCELERATION SPEEDS, LIKE A QUICK UPSHIFT AND THEN DOWN AGAIN.
TRANSMISSION HAS A SHUTTER IN IT. IT FEELS LIKE YOU ARE DRIVING ON THE ROAD EDGE WARNINGS
VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN AT APPROXIMATELY 20MPH AND UPPON DECELERATION THERE WAS A LOUD BANG AND ALL FOUR TIRES LOCKED UP AND HAVING NO CONTROL OVER MOVEMENT OF THE TRUCK. NO ERROR CODES FOUND AND DEALERSHIP STATES IT WAS A FAULTY TRANSFER CASE. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN SHOP ALMOST A MONTH WILL NO RESOLUTION.
THE TRUCK'S DRIVETRAIN/TRANSMISSION CONSTANTLY SHAKES, SHUTTERS WHILE DRIVING. IT HAPPENS PERIODICALLY THROUGHOUT THE RPM RANGES.
WHEN I DRIVE UP HILL THE VEHICLE STARTS TO JERK BACK AND FORTH AND HAS LOST OF POWER.
SHUTTERS AND SHAKES FOR LONG PERIODS WHILE DRIVING. GROWLS AND MAKES A LOW RUMBLING WHILE SHAKING THE ENTIRE TRUCK. DURING THIS VIBRATION WHICH HAPPENS ALL THE TIME ITS HARD TO HEAR THE PERSON TALKING NEXT TO YOU OR THE RADIO IF ITS ON LOW. TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY ALL DO THAT; IT'S COMMON WITH THESE; NOTHING TO DO.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 CHEVROLET COLORADO. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE FORCEFULLY. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HERTRICH CHEVROLET CADILLAC OF SALISBURY (LOCATED AT 2531 N SALISBURY BLVD, SALISBURY, MD 21801, (410) 713-4640) AND WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,500.
WHEN COMING TO STOP FROM ANY SPEED THE TRUCK DOWNSHIFT HARD THAT IT FEELS LIKE YOU'VE BEEN HIT FROM BEHIND. ALSO WHEN USING REMOTE START AND YOU PUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION AND TURN IT ON THE TRANSMISSION DOES A LITTLE JUMP LIKE THE TRUCK IS GOING INTO GEAR. WE HAVE TAKEN IT IN FOR REPAIRS 3 TIMES AND THE LAST TIME WE WERE TOLD THE ISSUE COULD NOT BE FIX AND THAT IT WAS NORMAL.
THE TRANSMISSION HAS A VERY HARD DOWN SHIFT WHEN COMING TO A STOP. ALMOST FEELS LIKE YOU'VE BEEN HIT FROM BEHIND. THE FASTER YOU WERE GOING BEFORE STOPPING THE HARDER IT DOWNSHIFTS. WHEN TAKING VEHICLE IN WE WERE TOLD THERE IS NO FIX FOR THIS. ALSO WHEN USING REMOTE START ONCE YOU PUT THE KEY IN THE TRANSMISSION JUMPS. WE WERE TOLD NOT TO BRING THE TRUCK BACK FOR THIS ISSUE.
TRANSMISSION EXHIBITS INTERMITTENT HESITATION, JERKING AND SHAKING WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP AND REVERSE LURCHING WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE TRANSMISSION FLUID HAS BEEN CHANGED PER THE BULLETIN WITHOUT SUCCESS. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP 4 TIMES WHERE THEY TYPICALLY REPORT "UNABLE TO DUPLICATE PROBLEM" AND THEREFORE DO NOTHING. THE LATEST COMMENT FROM GM CUSTOMER CARE WAS TO BLAME ALL THESE ISSUES ON MY TIRES (36000 MILES). LOSS OF POWER EQUALS A TIRE ISSUE?
TRANSMISSION HAS HORRIBLE SHIFTING. HARD SHIFTING AT LOW SPEEDS AND WHEN DECELERATING (FEELS LIKE I WAS REAR ENDED). TORQUE CONVERTER WAS REPLACED. FROM LOW SPEED, IT DOESN'T DOWNSHIFT TO ACCELERATE UNLESS THE PEDAL IS FLOORED. ALSO, THERE IS HESITATION/PEDAL LAG FROM A STANDSTILL, WHICH MAKES IT UNPREDICTABLE WHEN TRYING TO PULL INTO TRAFFIC. THAT PART IS A REAL SAFETY CONVERN.
