The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated that while driving 25-35 MPH, the vehicle failed to shift into the intended gear and then stalled. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the road. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed to the residence. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 230,000.

Noticed a very hard transmission shift when accelerating from approximately 35 to 40 mph. Hard shifting in this vehicle has been observed over the past year. Milage is approximately 60,000 miles.

Seven recalls!!! Chevy claims there are no recalls for this vin number. 7 is way to many!!! Not to mention their valve covers on this car are terrible, no wonder the engine catches fire, I’ve had it replaced 3 times. I’ve replaced cooling components multiple times an never got any recall notifications from Chevy!!!!!! Please help.

VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN 2011 AND HAS 135,000 MILES ON IT. BODY AND INTERIOR IS IN GREAT CONDITION AND I TAKE CARE OF THE ENGINE AND POWERTRAIN FOR ITS SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. I HAVE THE DOCUMENTS TO PROVE MY STATEMENT. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN NOTHING BUT A HEADACHE. I JUST WANTED TO NOTIFY YOU AND WARN ANY OTHER PERSON THAT MAY BE THINKING OF BUYING A CRUZE TO NOT PURCHASE. I WAS HOPING ALSO THAT I MAY HAVE A RECOURSE UNDER THE LEMON LAW TO RECOVER SOME OR ALL OF THE LOSSES INVESTED IN TRYING TO KEEP THE VEHICLE IN RUNNING CONDITION. THE TRANSMISSION IS CURRENTLY MALFUNCTIONING AND THE TURBO WAS ALSO RECENTLY MALFUNCTIONING. CURRENTLY THIS VEHICLE IS IN A PARKING LOT COLLECTING DUST. THE COST TO REPAIR OR REPLACE IS MORE THAN THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE. CAN YOU ADVISE OR HELP WITH A SOLUTION? I PURCHASED A PRE-OWNED 2011 CHEVY CRUZE IN AUGUST OF 2016. IN DECEMBER, I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY CAR STARTED TO JERK AS I PUSHED ON THE GAS AND IT WOULDN'T ACCELERATE. I PULL OVER AND PARKED THE CAR TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND PUT IT IN DRIVE, BUT IT WOULDN'T GO FORWARD; HOWEVER, WHEN I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE, IT MOVED. MY MOM CALLED THE DEALERSHIP WE BOUGHT IT FROM TO CLAIM THE LEMON LAW, BUT THEIR RESPONSE WAS THAT THEY COULDN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT BECAUSE THE CAR WAS OLDER THAN 30 DAYS. SHE WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THE LEMON LAW DOES NOT APPLY TO USED VEHICLES, SO MY DAD HAD THE CAR TOWED TO CHEVROLET. THEY SAID THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS THE ISSUE. MY ISSUE IS THAT I HAD THIS CAR FOR 4 MONTHS. REPLACING OR GETTING THE TRANSMISSION FIXED COSTS MORE THAN THE CAR IS WORTH. I DO NOT HAVE THE FUNDS FOR THIS BEING THAT I AM A COLLEGE STUDENT, AND I NEED THIS TRANSPORTATION. I CAN'T TRADE THIS CAR IN SINCE IT'S IN THIS CONDITION. MY OTHER ISSUE IS THAT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS MALFUNCTION IN THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE, I REALIZED THAT THERE A LOT OF PEOPLE DEALING WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM AND OTHERS REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION. WHEN I AM DRIVING DOWN THE HIGH WAY OR IF I AM GOING UP THE HILL MY VEHICLE FEELS LIKE IT IS GOING TO STALL SO I HAVE TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT ALSO WAS A SALVAGE TITLE AND I HAD NO IDEA WHEN I BOUGHT IT I FOUND OUT IT WAS A SALVAGE VEHICLE AFTER I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX MY RECALL IN WHICH THEY CLAIM THEY FIXED MY RECALL BUT I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER MECHANIC AND THEY TOLD ME THE RECALL WAS NOT FIXED. THE RECALL WAS A TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE. ALSO WHEN I BOUGHT THE CAR I TOOK IT BACK THREE TIMES AND THEY SAID SINCE I PAID CASH FOR IT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO I FEEL LIKE THIS WAS A LEMON.

NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE INDICATING THAT THIS WOULD SUDDENLY HAPPEN BUT IT DID. I WOULD HEAT UP MY CAR IN THE MORNING AND THE REDUCED ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON, I WOULD TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON IN A COUPLE OF MINUTES AND IT WOULD DRIVE FINE. THIS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES BUT THEN I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 55 MPH AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE ENGINE AND STABILITRAC LIGHT COMES ON AND SAYS REDUCED ENGINE POWER AND THE CAR SLOWS DOWN ABOUT 5 MPH IMMEDIATELY. THIS OCCURRED 3 TIMES ON MY WAY HOME THAT IS NORMALLY ONLY A 10 MINUTE DRIVE, THE VERY NEXT MORNING IT DID IT AGAIN WHEN STARTING IT UP IN THE MORNING TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. THIS HAPPENS IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC AND THANKFULLY DID NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT BUT IT COULD IF THIS WOULD OF HAPPENED ON THE EXPRESSWAY. TURNED ON CAR IN THE MORNING AND RECEIVED 2 MESSAGES OF "ENGINE POWER REDUCED", "SERVICE STABILI-TRAC", SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" AS WELL AS A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. ENGINE WOULD NOT GO ABOVE 1500 RPM'S. TOOK IT INTO DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT I HAD A TRANSMISSION LEAK AND BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T HAVE TIME THEY WANTED ME TO RESCHEDULE FOR THE FOLLOWING WEEK. PROBLEM CONTINUED TO HAPPEN AND ON MY WAY IN TO WORK ON 02/11/14 THE PROBLEM HAPPENED TWO TIMES IN THE MORNING AND WAS FORCED TO PUT CAR IN PARK TURN OFF ENGINE AND RESTART. THEN HAPPENS 3 TIMES ONCE ON A VERY BUSY HIGHWAY INTO DOWNTOWN DENVER AND TWICE IN DOWNTOWN. CALLED DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED TO BRING IT IN. WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS THE "THROTTLE BODY" WHICH IS A $450.00 FIX NOT COVERED UNDER POWER TRAIN WARRANTY . WITH SO MANY PEOPLE HAVING THIS PROBLEM AND ALMOST BEING HIT EVERY TIME IT HAPPENS DUE TO IT HAPPENING ABRUPTLY WHEN COLD IT IS A CLEAR SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED. VEHICLE HAS HAD WATER PUMP REPLACED EARLIER THIS YEAR UNDER WARRANTY - AND HAD THE TURBO CHARGER REPLACED LAST WEEK UNDER WARRANTY. NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY LAST WEEK WAS A "LEAKING" BATTERY. SINCE BATTERY WAS ORIGINAL - I FELT IT WAS WORTH REPLACING. YESTERDAY, WHILE DRIVING TO WORK, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE HEATER STOPPED WORKING. TODAY - THE DEALER CALLS ME AND STATES THAT THEY NEED TO REPLACE A HOSE AND OUTLET. THERE WAS NO LEAK YESTERDAY - AND THEY STATE THAT THERE IS A LEAK AND THIS IS THE REASON. THEY WANT $250 FOR REPAIRS. THE HOSE WAS FINE YESTERDAY - AND THE OUTLET SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED WITH THE WATER PUMP (ACTUALLY THEY SHOULD HAVE REPLACED THE HOSE AT THAT TIME ALSO). NO RESPONSE FROM GM QUALITY CARE. OVER $500 IN THE LAST TWO WEEKS - AND I AM NOT CERTAIN THAT THIS ISSUE IS OVER. IT HAS ALSO HAD TWO COMPUTERS REPLACED WHEN I FIRST GOT IT. *TR

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FLUID NEEDED TO BE FLUSHED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS HOT AND THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,200.

MY CHILDREN & I ALMOST DIDN'T MAKE IT HOME! WAS EXPERIENCING ISSUES WITH THE HEAT NOT HEATING UP THE CAR ON TUESDAY AND ON YESTERDAY, I WAS DRIVING NORTH ON THE 394 EXPRESSWAY AND RECEIVED AN ERROR MESSAGE ON MY DASHBOARD OF "A/C SHUT OFF DUE TO HIGH TEMPERATURES" SO I TURNED THE HEAT OFF AND THE GAUGE SLOWED MOVED BACK DOWN. HOWEVER, AFTER DRIVING A SHORT DISTANCE FURTHER THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE HAD MOVED ALL THE WAY TO THE "RED" LINE AND I RECEIVE THE ERROR MESSAGE TO "SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN" BECAUSE OF OVERHEATING. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED AND SLOWLY THE GAUGE MOVED BACK TO THE NORMAL POSITION. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THAT WORKED ON MY CAR LESS THAN 3 WEEKS AGO AND THE SERVICE ADVISOR INFORMED ME THAT IT MAY BE ANOTHER GLITCH BUT HE WANTED TO ENSURE THAT ALL OF MY FLUIDS WERE FINE AND SINCE I WASN'T VERY FAR FROM THE DEALERSHIP TO BRING THE CAR IN (EVEN THOUGH THEIR SERVICE DEPT WAS CLOSING IN ABOUT 20 MINS). AFTER LOOKING AT THE CAR, THE SERVICE ADVISOR INFORMED THAT JUST ABOUT ALL OF THE COOLANT RAN OUT AND THERE WAS PROBABLY AN ISSUE WITH THE WATER PUMP. I WAS SHOCKED, BOTHERED & FRUSTRATED BECAUSE IT HAD BEEN LESS THAN A MONTH THAT I JUST HAD TO HAVE THIS CAR WORKED ON. FORTUNATELY, THE WATER PUMP DIDN'T COST ME ANYTHING DUE TO IT STILL BEING UNDER WARRANTY BUT THAT STILL DOESN'T CHANGE THE FACT THAT I'M A VERY DISSATISFIED CUSTOMER. *TR

SINCE I FIRST PURCHASED MY 2011 CRUZE, I HAVE EXPERIENCED HESITATIONS IN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CHANGING BETWEEN SECOND AND THIRD GEAR (APPROXIMATELY BETWEEN 35-40 MPH). IN THE LAST MONTH, THE HESITATIONS HAPPEN EVERY TIME I START FROM A STATIONARY POSITION. SOME OF THE HESITATIONS ARE MORE PRONOUNCED (I.E., AN ACTUAL LURCHING OF THE VEHICLE). I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE NEW FROM A CHEVY DEALERSHIP IN EDEN PRAIRIE, MN. AFTER ONLY 2 MTHS, IT BEGAN INTERMITTENTLY HESITATING, LURCHING FORWARD WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE (WHILE SOMETIMES BLOWING HOT AIR FROM THE AC) & REFUSING TO ACCELERATE. MULTIPLE TIMES IT HAS COMPLETELY STALLED OUT (WHILE DRIVING 30-40 MPH ON A HIGHWAY & WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP ON A HILL RESULTING IN ROLLING BACKWARD). IT IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THE 4TH TIME FOR THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE, BUT DOES NOT SHOW ANY CODES (NO SES LIGHT). THEY HAVE MADE MANY REPAIRS IN AN ATTEMPT TO FIX THIS ISSUE (LEAKING WATER PUMP, REPROGRAMS, WASTEGATE SOLENOID REPLACEMENT, ETC), BUT THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. I AM CONCERNED THAT MY CAR WILL STALL WHILE ON A HIGHWAY OR PASSING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION, WHICH WOULD POSE A HUGE SAFETY THREAT. AROUND 20 TO 30 MPH WHEN NEEDING TO SPEED UP THE VEHICLE THE VEHICLE WILL STALL THE TRANSMISSION WILL THEN KICK IN WITH NOISE. VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE IN MODERATE TO HEAVY TRAFFIC IN CITIES. I HAVE BEEN IN TRAFFIC WITH MULTIPLE LANES AND WANTING TO PASS SOMEONE. WHEN PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR TO PASS THE CAR JUST SITS THERE! THEN AFTER A HESITATION THE CAR WILL POP THEN FINALLY MOVE. CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR THIS PROBLEM AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY STATE NOTHING IS WRONG WITH THE CAR. I EVEN HAD ONE OF THE MECHANICS TELL ME THAT FOR THESE TYPES OF TRANSMISSIONS IT IS NORMAL! HOW CAN THIS BE SAFE! IF I WASN'T AWARE OF MY DRIVING AND A VERY GOOD DRIVER I WOULD HAVE HAD MULTIPLE WRECKS WITH THIS ISSUE. LUCKILY I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO OVER CORRECT WHEN THE SITUATION OCCURS. AT ONE POINT I HAD TO PULL OFF THE INTERSTATE DUE TO THE FACT I WAS PUSHING THE GAS PETAL ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND MY CAR JUST STALLED AT 23 MPH FOR OVER 15 SECONDS UNTIL I PULLED OVER, RELEASED THE PETAL AND ENGAGED AGAIN. *TR
