TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE REVERSING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY TIGHT AND DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 136,000.
VEHICLE LOST POWERING STEERING AFTER MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN ONTO A BUSY ROAD. ENDED UP HALF WAY IN THE ONCOMING LANE BEFORE I COULD GET IT UNDER CONTROL. GOOD THING NO OTHER CARS WERE IN THE WAY. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND RESTART THE CAR. I ALSO HAVE HAD OTHER INCIDENCES WHEN THE POWER STEERING GLITCHES OFF AND ON WHILE I'M TURNING INTO PARKING SPOTS. AFTER I BOUGHT THIS CAR, BRAND NEW, I HAD TAKEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR STEERING ISSUES BUT THEY DIDNT FIND ANY ISSUES AT THAT TIME AND I WAS DISMISSED, NOW IT'S OBVIOUS THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE FOR THESE CARS. THIS IS A HAZARD AND IS TERRIFYING WHEN IT HAPPENS.
IT LOSES THE POWER STEERING AT TIMES, AFTER IS TURNED ON. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT HAPPENS OFTEN.
POWER STEERING CUT OUT WITH NO WARNING WHILE DRIVING. EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER, BUT WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF TO SIDE OF ROAD. SHUT VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED IMMEDIATELY. POWER STEERING RETURNED WHEN CAR WAS RESTARTED.
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING DISABLED DURING ROUTINE DRIVING, MAKING A LEFT TURN IN MOTION THE VEHICLES POWER STEERING WAS LOST. AFTER A RESTART OF THE ENGINE, POWER STEERING WAS RETURNED. ON A CITY STREET AFTER A STOP SIGN.
LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHILE TURNING AND STEERING WHEEL JERKED HARD AS IF TO STRAIGHTEN ITSELF. THIS OCCURRED DURING DRIVING. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DEALER AND WAS TOLD THE GM SERVICE BULLETIN 14116 ONLY COVERS STEERING POSITION SENSORS, BUT NOT MOTORS. BUT ON OTHER COMPARABLE MODELS, IT'S THE MOTOR, NOT SENSORS. NOW THESE ARE OF THE SAME SYSTEM AND COMPONENTS. WHY?!
STARTED MY CAR UP TO AROUND 2:00 TO GO MY LUNCH BREAK. POWERING STEERING WAS IN MY RADIO DASH. AFTER TURNING IT OFF AND BACK ON IT RESOLVED THE PROBLEM FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME BUT HAS CUTOFF CONSISTENTLY WHEN I AM DRIVING REVERTING BACK TO MANUAL STEERING WHICH IS DIFFICULT TO CONTROL WITH LOW SPEEDS AND DANGEROUS IT PUTS EVERYBODY AT RISK IF IT HAPPENS ON THE FREEWAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE ATTEMPTED TO MAKE A LEFT TURN HOWEVER, THE STEERING WHEEL JERKED IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE TO STRAIGHTEN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO COMPLETE THE LEFT TURN AND CONTINUED DRIVING STRAIGHT AHEAD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 165,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVY MALIBU MAXX. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HIS WIFE WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE STEERING WHEEL UNEXPECTEDLY STARTED MOVING LEFT TO RIGHT WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE AS LOSS OF ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. THE CONTACT REFERENCED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING). HOWEVER THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURE WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,000.
STEERING SHAFT CAUSING KNOCKING NOISE WHEN YOU TURN STEERING WHEEL ABOUT 1 INCH TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY OR IN MOTION. FOUND THIS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH OTHER OWNERS WITH OVER 150 COMPLAINTS. SO FAR NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR TO REPLACE THE THE STEERING SHAFT.

THE CONTACT PULLED OFF OF THE ROADWAY AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE STARTED APPROXIMATELY TWO YEARS AGO, AND WORSENED OVER TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
POWER STEERING GOES OUT MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO STEER.
STEERING ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM FAILS INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING, RESULTING IN LOSS OF STEERING ABILITY POSSIBLY CAUSING A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OR DEATH. RECALL WAS DATED 03/31/2014 BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. DATA BASE SAYS NO RECALLS ARE PENDING BUT OBVIOUSLY THE PROBLEM DOES STILL EXISTS. VEHICLE IS STATIONARY, IN MOTION, AND ON ANY STREET WHEN THE PROBLEM ARISES. WARNING BEEP SOUNDS AND NOTICE POPS UP IN THE WARNING SECTION ON THE CONSOLE.
STEERING WHEEL COLUMN MAKES CLUNKING NOISE WHEN TURNING. IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED AT LEAST 3 TIMES. THE LAST 2 WERE 5/31/2013, WHICH WE PAID FOR, & 10/1/2014, WHICH WAS ON A RECALL. NOW IT HAS BEEN DOING IT AGAIN FOR SEVERAL MONTHS.
WAS DRIVING CAR AND THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING DISABLED AND WILL NOT TURN BACK ON. UNABLE TO DRIVE CAR SAFELY. THIS VEHICLE HAD A RECALL ON IT AND WAS TOLD IT WAS FIXED IN 2014. ONLY 5 YEARS LATER THE RECALL DEFECTED AND ALMOST CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT.
POWER STEERING FAILS. LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING. WHEN I TURN OFF THE CAR AND RESTART IT POWER STEERING RETURNS. LOST POWER STEERING SIX TIMES IN ONE WEEK.
DEALER INFORMS ME SAFETY RECALL 14116B LOSS OF POWER STEERING WAS ACCOMPLISHED ON MY VEHICLE PREVIOUSLY, YET THE WARNING LIGHT IS DISPLAYED ON MY INFO CENTER. FIX DID NOT WORK LONG.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE STEERING LOST POWER WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 140,000.

THE POWER STEERING WOULD STOP WORKING PERIODICALLY, MOST OFTEN UPON STARTING OF THE CAR BUT IT FAILED WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE ONE TIME. THE MECHANIC READ IT AS A C0545 CODE, STEERING WHEEL TORQUE INPUT SENSOR. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS ISSUE IS WELL KNOW, AND IT APPEARS SOME VEHICLES WITH THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL AND YEAR WERE COVERED UNDER A RECALL, BUT MY PARTICULAR ONE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE.
STEERING WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND BEEPED. A RECALL WAS PERFORMED IN OCT 2014 FOR THE SAME PROBLEM RECALLS 14116 AND 13036 BUT IT LOOKS LIKE ITS BACK. CALLED GM AND THEY SENT ME TO A DEALER RODGER DEAN AND THEY SAID IT NEEDS A STEERING COLUMN. IT HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING THE CAR TO WORK.
HAVING STEERING AND TURNING PROBLEMS. LOOKING TO BE THE ELECTRONIC STEERING PUMP.
2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO PROBLEM WITH STEERING COLUMN. CONSUMER STATES THAT THEIR IS A "CLUNKING NOISE" COMING FROM STEERING COLUMN. *LD *JS THE CONSUMER STATED THE MANUFACTURER DECLINED TO ASSIST WITH THE REPAIRS DUE TO THE VEHICLE NOT BEING INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. *JS *JS
