MY PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT KEEPS GOING OUT. I JUST HAD THE BULB CHANGED, AND IT WENT OUT IN A COUPLE OF HOURS. 90% OF ALL CHEVY MALIBU'S USE ON THE ROAD HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. WHAT DO WE HAVE TO DO TO GET A RECALL ABOUT THIS. IT'S VERY IRRITATING AND EXPENSIVE!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS AT NIGHT, THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE EACH TIME THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN. THE CONTACT HAD TO USE THE HIGH BEAM HEADLIGHTS TO VIEW THE ROADWAY. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. ON FOUR OCCASIONS, THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE HEADLIGHT BULBS WERE REPLACED EACH TIME. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE COULD BE AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE AND THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 104,715.
RIGHT SIDE HEADLAMP WENT OUT NEEDING IMMEDIATE REPLACEMENT IN ORDER TO SEE THE ROAD PROPERLY AND SAFELY. IN ORDER TO REPAIR, THE FRONT BUMPER HAD TO BE REMOVED ONLY AT A DEALER COSTING 1.5 HOURS AND $145.00 OF COST TO REPLACE A SIMPLE LOW BEAM HEADLAMP. MANY PEOPLE CANNOT WAIT THE 2 DAYS WAIT AND THE EXORBITANT COST FOR THIS OBVIOUSLY SIMPLE PROCEDURE THAT THREATENS DRIVING SAFETY WITH ONLY ONE WORKING HEADLIGHT.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEADLAMPS WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
THE HEADLIGHT BULBS HAVE BEEN REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES AND CONTINUE TO BLOW OUT INTERMITTENTLY WITHIN A FEW MONTHS OF REPLACEMENT. THERE IS NO ISSUE WITH THE FACTORY INSTALLED HIGH BEAM LAMPS ONLY THE LOW BEAM LAMPS ARE BLOWING OUT AFTER REPLACEMENT.
THE DRIVER SIDE LOW BEAM LIGHT CONTINUE TO BLOW, I HAVE REPLACED THE BULB 5 TIMES AND ALSO REPLACE A BURNT-OUT WIRE BUT THE BULB HAS BLOWN AGAIN AND IT'S GETTING VERY EXPENSIVE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HIGH MOUNT BRAKE LIGHT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V252000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
