The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated while starting the vehicle, the air bag warning illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed and DTC: B101D – (Air bag module failure) was retrieved. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 142,000.
The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked in the garage after two weeks, he started the vehicle and reversed onto the driveway. The driver's side and passenger's side air bags deployed without impact or warning. There were no reported injuries. The contact called the local dealer, but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 111,000.
The airbag maintenace light comes on every time I start it. Alot of my friends who own GMC say that it is a normal problem with a GMC vehicle and there should be a recall on it. But there is none.
After my car battery was professionally replaced my airbag light came on. GM dealer service got a code of B101D requiring the airbag control module to be replaced. There are no new compatible modules available in the US. Two GM dealers advised getting a used module that had not been in an airbag deployment. Upon obtaining a compatible module the dealer is now getting a code of B3902, this code indicates that the environment identifier of the module does not match the vehicle and prohibits further programming permitting the airbags to function properly. So GM has intentionally prohibited compatible modules from salvage cars and they are no longer making new modules for my car. How is this ethical, legal, safe or environmentally sound? Are consumers expected to junk a perfectly good automobile absent a $100 part? Is this practice required by some regulation prohibiting airbag modules from being salvaged and reprogrammed?
MY CAR FAILED INSPECTION BECAUSE OF "SERVICE AIRBAG" LIGHT DISPLAYED ON THE DASHBOARD.
[XXX] THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AFTER MY PASSENGER SEAT WAS READJUSTED WHILE IT WAS PARKED. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 54000 MILES ON IT. I READ WHERE THIS HAS BEEN AN ON GOING PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL. DEALER WANTS TO REPLACE THE SENSOR WHICH I WAS QUOTE OVER $1000. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO PHILLIPS CHEVROLET OF LANSING (17730 TORRENCE AVE, LANSING, IL 60438) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED WITH A DEFECTIVE AIR BAG MODULE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 96,000.
I BOUGHT THE CAR IN APRIL.2020, THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT WILL NOT TURN OFF. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE CHEVY DEALER AND THE PUT IT ON A MACHINE TO CHECK AND SEE IF IT NEEDED TO BE RESET. THEY TOLD ME AT THAT TIME THE 2013 MALIBU HAD A RECALL ON OVER HALF OF THE MALIBU AIRBAGS FROM THE SAME YEAR. THEY CAN FIX IT. AND FOR ME TO KEEP CHECKING FOR MY VIN TO SHOW UP ON THE RECALL LIST. AND THAT IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE UNTIL IT GETS REPLACED. PLEASE AD MY VIN# TO THE RECALL LIST ASAP. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LUMBERTON CHEVROLET BUICK GMC CADILLAC LOCATED AT (500 LINKHAW RD, LUMBERTON, NC 28358) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PASSENGER PRESENCE SYSTEM MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON. KEEPS SHUTTING OFF AND COMING BACK ON
TAKATA RECALL I HAVE A 2013 CHEVY MALIBU ECO WITH ROUGHLY 89K MILES. MY 'SERVICE AIRBAG' LIGHT CAME ON RANDOMLY AS I WAS PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY ON JULY 27, 2019. I HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT IN MY CAR, AND I THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I'VE EVER SEEN THIS LIGHT. I REMEMBER A FEW YEARS BACK, I RECEIVED A NOTICE IN THE MAIL FROM THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT A RECALL ON AIRBAGS (SOMETHING RELATED TO THE DEPLOYMENT) AND I WENT AND GOT IT SERVICED. WELL IT'S 2-3 YRS LATER AND MY AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON. I'M CONCERNED IF THIS IS RELATED TO THE TAKATA RECALL AS WELL. I CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY MY 'SERVICE AIRBAG' LIGHT WOULD POP ON SO RANDOMLY.
ON 2016 I HAD A COLLISION CLAIM NUMBER 3005632019 -1-7. I DIDN'T HAVE DEDUCTIBLES AND THEREFORE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FIXED IMMEDIATELY BUT THE INSURANCE HAD PAID PART OF THEIR PORTION. ON APRIL 8TH I WAS INVOLVED ON ACCIDENT AND HAD INJURIES WHICH I WAS DISCHARGED FROM TREATMENT NOT LONG. THEREFORE THE VEHICLE STILL HAD THE BENT. ON MARCH 12TH 2019 THE VEHICLE WAS HIT AGAIN ON THE REAR ALONG THE TIRE. NOW I HAD THE VEHICLE FIXED BOTH DAMAGES AT MAACO AT TACOMA. THIS WAS DONE THROUGH THE INSURANCE. WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE AT MAACO THERE WAS NO AIRBAG LIGHT. THEY WERE REPLACING THE PASSENGER DOOR AND FIXING THE BENT FOR BOTH COLLISION. WHEN I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE I NOTICED THE AIR BAG LIGHT AND I INFORMED THE MAACO REPRESENTATIVE. HE TOLD ME IT WILL GO AWAY BY ITS OWN. IT DIDN'T GO AWAY AND WE AGREED WITH THEM TO TAKE IT BACK. WHEN I FOLLOWED UP WITH THEM THEY SAID THAT THEY CAN'T FIX THE PROBLEM BUT HAD CONTACTED THE INSURANCE. DAYS PASSED WITHOUT GETTING AN UPDATED. LASTLY I AM TOLD TO DRIVE THE CAR BACK WITH ME AND THAT I HAVE TO PROVE TO THE INSURANCE THAT THE LIGHT IS CAUSED BY THE OLD ACCIDENT. I FEEL IT IS NOT SAFE FOR ME TO DRIVE IT WITH THE LIGHT ON AS IT IS NOT SAFE FOR ANYONE. I DON'T HAVE TRANSPORTATION AND I AM PAYING THE INSURANCE AND THE LOAN.
SERVICE AIRBAGS LIGHT CAME ON WHILE PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY. NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. ALARM FOR AIRBAGS GOES OFF EVERY 30 SECONDS AND IT WILL NOT GO OFF. THE AIRBAG ALERT LIGHT IS ON AND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT FLASHES ON AND OFF WITH OR WITHOUT SOMEONE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT.

MY HUB ASSEMBLY BROKE CAUSING AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE AND CAUSED THE AIR BAG MODULE TO GO BAD. AIR BAG LIGHT REMAINS ON
AFTER THE BATTERY WENT DEAD FOR THE FIRST TIME ON THE CAR, IT WAS JUMPED AND TAKEN TO DEALER TO REPLACE. THE NEXT DAY THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AND TAKEN BACK TO DEALERSHIP. THEY NOW WANT TO CHARGE OVER 1000 TO FIX SOMETHING THAT WAS DEFECT DUE TO BATTERY WAS JUMPED AND SHORTED MODULE. NOW MY CAR DOES NOT HAVE WORKING AIRBAGS AND THIS PROBLEM IS ALL OVER THE WEB IN DIFFERENT GROUPS AS A REOCCURRING PROBLEM.
