The contact owns a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while idling at a stoplight, the vehicle suddenly stalled. The failure occurred on several occasions. The contact stated that after restarting the vehicle, the vehicle operated normally, but failed to immediately restart on several occasions. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, who replaced the engine oil pump, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 125,000.
The car suddenly shows the service StabiliTrak engine power reduced, just like what was recalled on the 2016-2018 Chevrolet Malibu. Even though it's a 2013 Chevy Malibu, mine has the same issues. vehicle stalls while driving and at stops. has 65000 miles on it. No engine light comes on. starts right back up. very dangerous while driving. Mechanics cannot determine problem they said if no warning lamps
The contact owned a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 65 MPH and his son another vehicle behind made him aware of sparks seen coming from underneath the front of the vehicle. The contact stated that smoke was seen coming from underneath the hood and exit the highway. The contact stated that soon after exiting the vehicle, it caught fire. The check engine and loss of power steering warning lights were illuminated. The fire department extinguished the flames and informed the contact that the origin of the fire came from the engine compartment. Both a fire department and police report were filed. The vehicle remained at an out-of-state junkyard. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The approximate failure mileage was 119,000.
2014 CHEVROLET MALIBU. CONSUMER STATES THAT WHILE DRIVING THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHUTS DOWN AND THEN RESTARTS. THE CONSUMER STATED THE ALL THE CONNECTORS WERE CLEANED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED.

THE CONTACT OPENED THE HOOD AND FOUND THAT THE GENERATOR BRACKET HAD FRACTURED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BATTERY WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER NOR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED AN UNKNOWN MANUFACTURER'S RECALL THAT WAS RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE RECALL HAD EXPIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 76,000.
UPON EXITING THE EXPRESSWAY AND COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP THE VEHICLE LOSES ALL POWER. I THEN MUST PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK TO RESTART IT, I ALSO HAVE TO PUSH ON THE ACCELERATOR TO GIVE THE VEHICLE GAS AS IT WILL NOT START WITHOUT PERFORMING THIS STEP. THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 20 TIMES. I HAVE HAD MY MECHANIC INSPECT MY VEHICLE AND HE IS UNABLE TO FIND ANY ISSUES AS WHEN THIS HAPPENS NO CODES APPEAR ON A READER AND NO WARNINGS ARE DISPLAYED ON THE DASH.
Engine power reduced notification will come on, a part will be replaced as notified. The same notification will appear a month or so later after repair. This has happened on more than 1 occasion.
I have this vehicle for past five years few years ago I see the engine reduce power sign came up and the check engine light turn on I took it to the dealership they fixed it cost me over $1000 And then I moved back to Illinois and a few months later I had the same sign and light came back up I called the dealership they said my work is still under warranty so I can take it to any Chevy dealer and I took it to the one close to me another time they kept the car all day fix it and then I start driving a few months later same sign same light back up again and it seems like itβs an ongoing issue I have been looking around for resolution and I find a lot of people having this issue in Chevy Malibuβs

THE CONTACT MANAGED TO COAST THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROADWAY, WAIT FOR ABOUT 40 MIN UNTIL THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER MC CLUSKEY CHEVROLET (9673 KINGS AUTO MALL RD, CINCINNATI, OH 45249, (513)741-1111) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 125,000.
THE CAR SHUT OFF ON ME WHILE IT WAS IN DRIVE. IT WOULD NOT LET ME START BACK UP. I CALLED A TOW TRUCK AND TOOK IT TO REPAIR SHOP. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT IT IS A KNOWN DEFECT IN THESE CARS. THE OIL PUMP WENT OUT. THE COST OF LABOR ALONE IS 1000 PARTS 800.

THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE PCV VALVE HAD FROZEN CAUSING THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 125,000.

THE CONTACT OPENED THE HOOD AND NOTICED OIL LEAKED ALL UNDERNEATH THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MARSHFIELD MOTOR CO LOCATED AT (14963 MO-38, MARSHFIELD, MO 65706) TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED USING A SEALANT HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS MY CAR HAS BEEN CONSISTENTLY BURNING OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES TO THE POINT WHERE THERE IS LESS THAN A QUART IN THE ENGINE. AS OF APRIL 2020 I HAVE HAD TO ADD APPROXIMATELY TWO QUARTS OF OIL EACH WEEK IN BETWEEN THE OIL CHANGES IN ORDER TO MAINTAIN A PROPER LEVEL OF OIL IN THE ENGINE. MY MECHANIC REPLACED A SOLENOID BECAUSE THERE WAS A CODE SAYING IT NEEDED REPLACED IN APRIL. THE ENGINE LIGHT DOES NOT COME ONE, HOWEVER THE ENGINE WILL CLICK OR KNOCK LOUDLY AFTER DRIVING IT APPROXIMATELY 60 MILES AFTER ADDING OIL TO IT. MY MECHANIC STATED THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THE 2013 CHEVY MALIBU ECO. I AM AWARE OF SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO HAD THIS SAME ISSUE AND EVENTUALLY HAD TO REPLACE THEIR ENGINE AT THEIR COST. ALL OWNERS OF 2012-2014 CHEVY ECO MALIBU.I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE CHEVY DEALER IN MY TOWN THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE TO GM AND YET THEY WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL NOR COVER THE COST OF ENGINE REPLACEMENT. (THIS ISSUE ALSO HAPPENED WITH HYANDUI SONATA'S AND HYUNDAI DID REPLACE THE ENGINES FOR THOSE WITH THIS ISSUE OF BURNING OIL AT AN ACCELERATED RATE.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS NEEDING TO BE RESET BY DEALER
THE CAR WILL SOMETIMES STALL AND RESTART ITS SELF AT A STOP WHEN THE AUTO STOP RE-ENGAGES.
EXTREME EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION, 5 QUARTS OVER JUST 2,000 MILE PERIOD WITHOUT ANY NOTICEABLE LEAKS. MECHANIC SAID EVERYTHING APPEARS WELL AND THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE SAME ENGINE, 2.4 ECOTEC, ON THE EARLIER MODEL EQUINOX MODELS WITH PISTONS AND CRANK SEALS. GM HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN NUMBER 14882 AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT ASSIST ME WITH THIS PROBLEM IN ANY WAY BECAUSE MY VIN NUMBER IS NOT INCLUDED IN THEIR DATABASE WHEN THE BULLETIN SPECIFICALLY STATES MY MAKE, YEAR, AND MODEL OF VEHICLE AND WHAT IS WRONG, SO NOW I'M STUCK WITH PAYING AN ENORMOUS BILL BECAUSE MY VEHICLE WAS NOT BUILT CORRECTLY BY GM WHO KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND EVEN HAS A SERVICE BULLETIN ABOUT IT. *TR
I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING NO ONE CAN FIND OUT WHY MY AC DOES NOT WORK.
MY DAUGHTERS MALIBU LITERALLY IGNITED AND CAUGHT FIRE WHILE SHE WAS IN IT OVER THE WEEKEND. SHE WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT, NOTICED A FUNNY SMELL, TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND SMOKE WAS BILLOWING OUT OF THE ENGINE. SHE GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND REALIZED THE ENGINE WAS ON FIRE. IT WENT FROM A SMALL FIRE TO EVERYTHING BUT THE TRUNK ENGULFED IN LESS THAN 3 MINUTES. THESE THINGS DON'T JUST HAPPEN RANDOMLY. I FEEL THERE WAS A MECHANICAL ISSUE OR SOMETHING NOT BUILT CORRECTLY. *TR

I SEE GM HAS RECALLED THE ENGINES ON THE CHEVY MALIBU 2.0 I HAVE 104XXX MILES AND AND THE ENGINE HAS BEEN SLUGGISH SENSE LAST OIL CHANGE NOW THERE WAS METAL SHAVINGS ON INJECTORS AND I FEEL THEY HAVE RECALLED OTHERS WHY NOT MINE TOO? I HAD THE CRUISE SET AT 72 GOING DOWN THE FREEWAY AND IT JUST DIED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN THE LOCAL DEALER SMITH CHEVROLET (1601 AUTO MALL DR. TURLOCK, CA) WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY A FAULTY OIL PUMP AND LOW OIL PRESSURE CAUSED BY A PIN HOLE IN THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000.*BF*JB

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
