Chronological view of owner reports
While driving my 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 RST, the vehicle has lost power on two to three separate occasions. During these incidents, the truck experienced a sudden loss of engine power and electrical functionality while in motion. The vehicle either significantly reduced power or shut down unexpectedly, creating an immediate safety hazard. The failure appears to involve the electrical system and/or powertrain, as dashboard functions and vehicle response were affected at the same time as the loss of propulsion. In at least one incident, this occurred at driving speed, placing me and other motorists at risk of a collision due to the sudden loss of acceleration and reduced ability to maneuver safely. No prior warning lamps or messages consistently appeared before the failure. The incidents occurred without warning. The problem is intermittent and has happened more than once, increasing concern that the defect may worsen or result in a crash. This issue represents a serious safety risk because loss of power while driving can lead to loss of control, rear-end collisions, or inability to safely move out of traffic. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle, the vehicle failed to respond. The failure was intermittent but had become a recurring failure. Occasionally, while attempting to start the vehicle, the starter was making an abnormal clicking sound, but the vehicle failed to respond as needed. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer to be diagnosed; however, the dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact stated that the 12-Volt battery had been tested and was deemed to be in optimal condition. The vehicle was not repaired, and the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 11,000.
Instar and Telematics module faulty! Click is 30 min behind, auto me time set will not work, manual time looses 1min a day. No onstar button, no Google Maps or compass. Others have had same issue- telematics module
Onstar telematic module. Paying monthly for a safety service that does not work. My truck has 20k miles on it and has been in the shop multiple times for issues that should not have been issues. No warnings, Onstar module just stopped functioning. Known issue but, I have to spend more hours at my dealership and pay $150 diagnostics fee for them to tell me what Onstar already confirmed. All safety features disabled, all satellite and wireless features disabled. GM is now saying it will not be covered under warranty. Again, the truck has 20k miles and this is a MAJOR safety issue that is being paid for monthly and was a major factor in the decision to purchase this vehicle.
The tailgate on the truck popped open without being triggered to. This continued to happen like every 5-10 seconds. It drained the battery and was a hazard as I drive down the road.
The problem that happened on my truck was the telecommunication module went out at 45k miles. That controls several features on my truck such as compass, navigation, remote start from cell phone, clock and several others. The biggest problem is that a check engine light pops up and you cant use your key fob to remote start your truck since the check engine light is on. I took it to the GM dealer to get fixed and they had to replace the module. According to my service advisor this is a common problem and I am looking for a recall or more information into why it failed.
Unknown The tailgate keeps opening on its own
While driving the tailgate released on its own. The warning lamp came on after the tailgate released, however if I had items in the back they could have been thrown out onto the highway. Other VIN numbers with this tailgate has a recall but for some reason my VIN was not included.
I have a 2022 Chevy Silverado and my wifi, onstar, gps mapping is not working. I got the run around from the dealership and they told me to call onstar because my onstar and wifi it's not working. Turns out the Telematic Control Module is defective and not working. They want me to pay $450 for the part and $155 labor to fix this issue. I have 54245 miles on my truck so it's not covered under the bumper to bumper yet this is a known issue with this part and Chevy or Onstar should cover the replacement. I see all the complaints online and nothing being done. How are people supposed to have confidence in the Onstar program when they go to use it and it's broken? There's no indicator until it's just not working. The Telematic Control Module (TCM) in a Chevy Silverado is the brain for connected services like OnStar, GPS, and remote diagnostics, collecting vehicle data (location, performance) via the OBD-II port and sending it to cloud
I was driving on the interstate at speed when the dash cluster stopped responding. All gauges went to zero including RPMs and speed. I was unable to determine if the engine was still running. The cluster was out for about 15 seconds and then began working again. By the time I had maneuvered to the side of the road, everything was normal again. The same failure happened a few days later.
2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 multiflex tailgate main tailgate unlock/open button has stopped working. The dealership (Marine Chevy Jacksonville NC)stated that they have had to replace alot of them even on the 1500 series. They are now on back order with no expected availability date. Yes my vehicle is available for inspection. Requires the use of the key fob to unlock. I do not know why it has stopped working is it a wiring issue? If it is a wiring issue it should not go out on a vehicle that is less than 3 years old. Also could this cause other electrical issues.
When putting my vehicle in park and turning vehicle off keys won’t come out and stay stuck. Problem continues to only get worse and I have to wait to remove key. Battery sometimes dies as I am very busy and don’t have time to sit there and play or wait for key to come out 10+minutes. In the heat vehicle is off as I am trying to remove key and I have a baby in the car seat in the heat. This is extremely frustrating and dealership won’t do anything about it. This is my only vehicle and I can’t afford a rental car while I send it in so I continue to deal with it. Sometimes I have to leave keys attached hoping no one steals my vehicle or belongings. I have taken to a mechanic and they cannot firguee out the issue.
My backup camera has never worked properly since I purchased the vehicle. 7 out of 10 times when I put my truck in reverse, the camera does not work. I’ve had to at the dealership multiple times, the first time the vehicle was under warranty and the dealership “couldn’t replicate the issue” while the vehicle was with them for 2 days, which is impossible. Now, the vehicle is out of warranty and all of a sudden, since I am on the hook to pay them for the diagnostic service, they were able to “fix” the issue, for a day. I picked up my vehicle, everything seemed to work until the next morning, when the issue popped back up and now the camera itself seems to work, but there are no guidelines and there is an hourglass at the top left of my screen. I mentioned this issue of the guidelines being non existent as well as the hourglass, showed the dealership videos and they can’t seem to figure it out, seems as if there is a major issue after researching online this same issue for multiple years. After that amount of time how is there no resolution? This issue, along with my engine making weird noises, is not something that anyone should get when purchasing a vehicle that is $70k or more. After researching, I found there is an issue with my model year vehicle and the engine I have and that I also mentioned to them and that I was feeling as if there are issues with the engine and it being very jerky, along with the noises and that claim I made was simply dismissed and they said they are aware but there’s nothing they can do, and this is a “GM issue, not us” I basically have a lemon but there’s nothing that can be done and I am nervous something bad is going to happen with my vehicle and they mentioned the best they can do is to possibly put a heavier weight oil in and “hope it helps” absolutely ridiculous.
Tailgate got water in it. Continues to open repeatedly, user cannot stop it. Same part is recalled on 2500 HD and 3500 HD models. However, Silverado 1500 models (with the same tailgate switch part) are not currently covered by recall. This results in dead battery, open tailgate on the road - and contents of bed spilling onto highway. Vehicle further stalls due to electrical draw, causing total loss of usage, including brakes, steering, etc. I have video of the tailgate triggering and opening on its own.
Electronic tailgate malfunction which drained the battery. Tailgate will open on its on with vehicle off but will not open with key fob or any buttons.
Key will no release from ignition after being placed in park.
I was driving down the road at speed when the gauge cluster lost power and reset, the truck jerked violently. A couple days before the truck lost all electrical power (lost gauges, door locks, interior lights, door locks and ignition) while idling.
approx. 8 weeks ago, The OnStar Module stopped working. Took it in for repair, dealer tells me "No ETA on a replacement part, we will keep in touch" After further investigation, I went on the OnStar and Chevy message boards, and I've discovered that this issue has been going on for over 6 months in some cases and there are ALOT, i mean ALOT of people having the same problem. This problem causes all of the remote options to stop working among other things as well. In most cases people have paid a subscription up front for a year.
we were informed by dealer that there is a recall reguarding some software that needs to be updated to reduce the chance of battery drainage. The catch is they are trying to sell us a part for $567.00 to be installed so they can update the software to fix the problem. (Terry Thompson Chevy)
The dashboard fails and stops working, the shift to park wont engage and the key is not working to start the car. I have reported it to the dealer and to GM and they refuse to acknowledge the issue. The Feldman service person says it will eventually be a recall and will not help until then. They wont even let me pay to have it fixed they wont acknowledge it at all.
The contact owns a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, and while the vehicle was parked, the tailgate opened unintendedly. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that he was able to monitor the tailgate through the rearview camera. The contact stated that he could only close the tailgate manually when the failure occurred. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 36,500.
On more than one occasion, the vehicle jolted forward when going to accelerate from being stopped at a red light. It felt like the vehicle was rear ended by a vehicle behind (it was not) to give some perspective. The last time it happened, the engine shut down but the dash stayed on, and the dash would not turn off, nor would the engine restart. The Chevrolet dealership which it was towed to is stating that the wires from the engine wire harness are chaffing and that the entire engine wire harness needs to be replaced. Additionally, there is a service bulletin posted by GM indicating that the proper repair for this is to replace the engine wire harness and add additional protection, which is a clear indication of faulty engineering to begin with.
The tailgate has become disengaged on 3 or 4 separate occurrences. I see there is a problem and a recall for 2020-24 vehicles although our vehicle is not in the recall. The problem I am having is the same as the recall. I am looking for some assistance because my issue is the same as the recall and my warrantee is about to expire. The recall covers certain 2020-2024 Chevrolet Silverado 2500, 3500, and GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 vehicles that have power unlatching tailgates. The problem occurs if water has leaked into the tailgate's electronic gate-release switch. The electronic switch may short circuit, resulting in the tailgate unlatching.
Several times since I bought this truck new, the front turn signals fail. The blinker starts blinking very fast and if flashes a message to check the front turn signal. This has happened with both sides. Took it to the dealer 2x with a video of the dash and they say they cannot reproduce the problem. The internet is full of people with the same problems.
Auto stop/start will shut the vehicle off when still in motion. If the vehicle is coming to a stop and is rolling the stop/start will activate and shut the truck off
